Unexpected comparison of Nissan Terrano and Kia Soul. Motors, transmissions and their capabilities

Despite the fact that the models are in the same price category, it is not entirely correct to compare Kia Soul and Renault Duster. The Korean car was created exclusively for urban conditions, as indicated by the small clearance of the crossover. Duster, in contrast to its competitor, has increased ground clearance and additional underbody protection. Both factors indicate that the car can handle off-road driving. But otherwise, there are similarities between the Duster and Soul, which make it possible to compare cars.

Exterior of Kia Soul and Renault Duster

Unlike other crossovers (especially the larger ones), the Duster and Soul have an authentic design that sets these models apart from the rest of the SUV. This feature is most pronounced in the Korean car.

The exterior of the Soul stands out for the following features:

  • bat-shaped grille;
  • large front bumper with wide air intake;
  • straight hood;
  • rectangular profile with weakly pronounced stampings;
  • almost vertical luggage compartment door;
  • massive rear bumper.

Due to the fact that the Duster is intended for overcoming off-road, but, at the same time, the car is suitable for operation within the city, the exterior of the French crossover has the following features:

  • front bumper reinforced with a metal insert;
  • a slightly beveled grille, in the middle of which there are 2 chrome stripes;
  • large head optics, divided into 3 sectors;
  • wide wheel arches;
  • rear bumper with additional metal trim.

The differences between Duster and Soul in the design of the exterior can be traced throughout.

French and Korean models are fundamentally different in this respect.

Crossover dimensions

The Korean crossover has the following dimensions (valid at the time of this writing):

  • length - 4140 mm;
  • width - 1800 mm;
  • height - 1593 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2570 mm.

The French model has the following dimensions:

  • length - 4315 mm;
  • width - 1820 mm;
  • height - 1625 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2673 mm.

In terms of dimensions, both models practically do not differ from each other. The main difference can be seen in the size of the required clearance, which is 210 mm for the Duster and 160 mm for the Soul.

Differences in the interior of Kia Soul and Renault Duster

It is also quite difficult to compare Soul and Duster in terms of the features of the interior space. This is due to the fact that each car is positioned for a different category of motorists. The Korean crossover was created for urban conditions, so the interior of the Soul has the following features:

  • a wide range of interior design options, including the use of decorative elements;
  • many smooth lines inside the cabin;
  • the presence of a wide display of the multimedia system;
  • front seats with pronounced lateral support;
  • leather-trimmed seats (in expensive trim levels).

The Renault Duster is characterized by a more spartan interior. The interior of the car is made in the traditional style for budget cars. The interior provides the elements necessary for the comfortable operation of the crossover: a multimedia screen, physical control buttons for on-board electronics (partially duplicated on the steering wheel) and others.

The only similarities between the models are in the size of the cabin. This is explained by the fact that the French and Korean cars have almost the same dimensions.

Luggage compartment Kia Soul and Renault Duster

The Kia Soul trunk is small in size and holds no more than 354 liters of cargo. With the backrests folded down, this figure rises to 1,367 liters.

The French SUV holds up to 475 and 1636 liters in the luggage compartment, respectively.

Kia Soul and Renault Duster engine

It is also difficult to single out which is better, Kia Soul or Renault Duster, comparing the technical equipment of off-road vehicles. The Korean model is equipped with a single 1.6-liter engine, which, depending on the modification, develops up to 124 or 132 hp. power at a torque of 152 or 161 N / m, respectively. The Soul's top speed reaches 182 km / h. On average, the engine consumes 8 liters of fuel.

The French crossover comes with three motors. A 1.6-liter unit is installed as standard. More expensive versions use a 2 liter engine. The list of equipment also includes a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The power of the installations varies between 109-143 hp. And the average fuel consumption does not exceed 7.7 liters. Acceleration time to 100 km / h takes over 11 seconds.

When comparing Renault Duster and Kia Soul, it should be noted that Duster wins according to the list of technical equipment, since the French SUV is produced with three power plants to choose from.

Transmission

Kia Soul and Renault Duster differ among themselves and in the types of installed transmissions. The Korean car, depending on the configuration, is equipped with:

  • 6-speed manual transmission;
  • 6-band automatic transmission;
  • 7-speed robotic gearbox.

The French SUV comes with the following gearboxes:

  • 5- or 6-speed manual;
  • 4-band automatic.

Despite the fact that Soul is equipped with more advanced gearboxes, some Duster versions are available with all-wheel drive.

Options and prices

Duster belongs to the budget class of cars, which affects the list of equipment and the price of the crossover. If Soul can be called the best in the first indicator, the French model wins in the second. The minimum price for a Duster is 715 thousand rubles, when as a Korean off-road vehicle you can buy at least 812 thousand rubles. A number of special versions of the French car cost more than 1 million rubles, which is comparable to some Soul trim levels.

Complete set Renault Duster

Depending on the equipment type, the equipment list of the model includes:

  • all-wheel drive system with automatic or rigid distribution of torque along the axes;
  • additional elements of body protection;
  • remote engine start system;
  • multimedia system with navigation and 7-inch screen;
  • 4 airbags;
  • climate system;
  • rear View Camera;
  • cruise control.

A number of options are offered for a fee and are not included in certain configurations.

Complete set Kia Soul

The Korean car is produced with the following equipment:

  • monitoring system for "blind" zones;
  • parking assistance system;
  • 10-way electrically adjustable driver's seat;
  • multimedia system with a 5-8 "screen, support for mobile devices and navigation;
  • external subwoofer;
  • climate system;
  • cruise control;
  • function of starting the engine using a button;
  • rain and light sensors;
  • parking sensors;
  • rear View Camera.

In expensive Soul trim levels, an automatic parking function is provided.

Comparison results

It is impossible to compare Kia Soul and Renault Duster due to the fact that the cars are intended for different operating conditions and are designed for their own audience. In terms of the safety level of the driver and passengers and a number of minor features, both cars are similar to each other. Otherwise, the Korean and French crossovers are completely different.

Having "steered" on autoforums with regards to these cars, that for the Japanese Nissan, that for the Korean Heidai, you can find in the reviews and evaluations on the Internet a great variety of biases typical for our brother: both on Terrano and on Cretu, they say, there are no partners.

Although there are reasoned and quite reasonable opinions that the Nissan Terrano is the same. Therefore, this crossover is ideal for "dirt" and off-road snowdrifts, but the Hyundai Kreta is a dug SUV, in which, during a trip to the mother-in-law in the village, it is unlikely that the cuffs of the trousers, or even the pants will remain clean to the knees.

As for the parameters of these machines, they are almost identical:

Regarding the differences, in addition to the differences in design and interior equipment of the salons, which will be reviewed a little later, the Nissan Terano transmission is equipped, depending on the configuration, with five- and six-speed mechanics, as well as a four-speed automatic transmission. And Hyundai Creta has either, or.

Trunk comparison

The Terrano has a large tank capacity of 55 liters, in contrast to Creta, where it is 50 liters, which is why the "Japanese" has a power reserve of 786, while the Creta with a full tank will "master" only 676 km. True, it also affects the "hundred" on the mileage. If for the first crossover this figure is 7, then the second "bursts" 7.4 liters in the process of a mixed city-highway ride.

And the volume of the trunk is in favor of Terrano, which for this crossover is 475, while, like for Crete, it is 402 liters. This means that you can bring more from your mother-in-law to Terrano for seven buckets of potatoes than if you do it on Crete.

Despite the fact that these cars are in the same car segment of the market, it would seem that comparing their technical and functional characteristics is a rather simple procedure. But actually it is not. And the question, whose model will prevail, will most likely remain rhetorical.

Each model has both its own advantages and different claims from users.

Comparison of Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Creta
This article will describe the comparison between Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Creta cars. The cost of such machines is about a million rubles, they are equipped with 1.6 liter engines and a manual transmission. As for the others ...

In the salons - a comparison, judging by the reviews, in favor of Terrano. It is noted that the interior of this car is even better decorated not only than that of Crete, but even than that of its twin in external design, Renault Duster.

Although according to the general auto-rating, which was calculated by one of the agencies, according to the reviews of the owners of both brands, Creta has a rating indicator of 8.1, while Terrano has 7.9 out of the maximum possible 10 points. Moreover, the difference of two tenths is considered a rather significant gap. For example, only a few car brands have an assessment of 9 points, and 8.5 is an indicator of a car in the third hundred of the rating.

True, many motorists quite rightly do not look at the ratings, because this is pure arithmetic of calculating reviews, taking into account the general opinion of people on the type of general temperature in the hospital. And if you look at the number of reviews, for example, for Terrano - this is about 2.5 thousand, and for Crete there are only 30 real owners, for whom the points were calculated, then this "rating" can in no way be an objective assessment of one and the other car ...

Reviews for Hyundai Creta

Advantages:

  • the suspension is excellent;
  • large wheels and a modern look of the body;
  • well into the turn;
  • the stove heats well;
  • there is a heated steering wheel, as well as all the seats;
  • convenient, comfortable and soft car.

Disadvantages:

As a result

There are no striking differences between these crossovers. This is if you mean the cars themselves. There are differences in which users they are most suitable for. For those who love nature and outdoor activities, in general, for energetic people, the Nissan Terrano is just right.

As for the Hyundai Creta, this crossover can be perfect for women, and for men who are not “fouled” with false prejudices and complexes.

And both of these machines are designed for people who have average and below average income.

It's impossible to say unequivocally that the Sorento looks better outwardly than the X-Trail, or vice versa. They have completely different characters and stylistic directions. Sorento shows practicality and pragmatism, but at the same time it is not at all devoid of aggressiveness. An aerodynamic look, large LED headlights, a panoramic windshield, a long, straight bonnet, a massive radiator grille and a technologically advanced front bumper give its sporty spirit. The sideline of the car perfectly balances the balance of body size, arches and wheel sizes.

The X-Trail gives the impression of an innovative, dynamic, striking crossover class. High windshield, stylish LED headlights, compact radiator grille, embossed hood give it confidence and reliability. On the side, the similarity of the body shape and the contours of the roof of the models can be noted, but from behind the Japanese looks much more progressive and impressive than the Korean.

It should be noted a small, but important design feature of the Sorento! When leaving the car in bad weather, clothes often get dirty on the threshold of the car. Korean developers have solved this problem - the size of the thresholds of the car allows you to exit without touching them. This feature is extremely rare in modern crossovers and SUVs.

In terms of dimensions - length, width and height of the body, the Korean model with the parameters of 4685, 1885 and 1735 millimeters wins by a small margin, the Japanese is shorter by 45 millimeters, already by 3 and lower by 20. But the height of the ground clearance is 210 millimeters in size, while the Korean has a ground clearance of only 185 millimeters. The wheelbase of the Japanese is 2705 millimeters, the Korean model is 2780.

Compare the interior

Kia Sorento interior

Simple and sophisticated, the Korean car's roomy interior looks pretty attractive. Improved noise isolation and increased rear row space are impressive. A large touchscreen display with a Russified menu and easy navigation makes it possible to quickly work with the systems you need at the moment, and an on-board computer with a pleasant soft backlight will tell you everything about their current state. I would like to pay special attention to a practical glove box with built-in lighting and a shelf for storing small items.

The competitor's interior looks unfinished due to a poor arrangement of elements. But the ability to move the seats, increasing the volume of the trunk and legroom, gives some advantage to this car. The X-Trail has 497 liters of luggage space, while the Sorento has 530.

Among the options, the NissanConnekt multimedia system has the ability to communicate with a smartphone and allows you to access music, internet and social networks on the car's five-inch touchscreen display. Among the pleasant features of the Japanese, one can note the simple design of cooling and heating inside the cup holders, which is connected to the climate control system.

Nissan X-Trail interior

Both models have a functional multifunction steering wheel with a lot of options. Both also have zoned climate control and a variety of useful sensors (rain, light, parking sensors, etc.), lane control, digital parking assistant, blind spot monitoring, push-button start, and keyless entry.

The all-round visibility system for cars is also similar. Four cameras located around the perimeter allow you to monitor the area around 360 degrees. Security systems are also similar. Rigid power structure of the body, curtain airbags, front and side airbags, anti-lock braking system will protect against damage.

Let's take a look under the hood

Under the hood of Kia Sorento

There are three types of engines for the X-Trail on the Russian market - a 1.6-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 130 hp, two-liter gasoline (144 hp) and a 2.5-liter (171 hp) engine. ... A six-speed manual transmission and an Xtronic CVT are available for the diesel and two-liter engine. For a 2.5-liter, only a variator is provided.

The engine for the Sorento can also be selected from three options. A 2.4-liter petrol engine (188 hp), a 2.2-liter diesel (200 hp) and a 3.5-liter petrol engine updated at the end of 2017 with a capacity of 249 hp. As for the transmission, there is no choice, only the automatic transmission is available. The drive type in all Sorento models is full, and the X-Trail can be ordered with both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.

Nissan X-Trail engines

Fuel efficiency of Japanese models varies from 5.3 to 8.3 liters in the combined cycle, while Korean fuel consumption ranges from 7.8 to 10.5 liters per hundred. In the urban cycle, the most powerful X-Trail engine consumes 11.3 liters, while the Sorento has this figure reaching 14.4 liters. The maximum speed of the Sorento in the weakest configuration is 195 km / h, and the fastest engine accelerates to 210 km / h.

Find out everything about sore spots

According to the owners, both models are quite simple to operate, but they require maintenance costs no less than other crossovers. New cars are not capricious, and used cars should be given much more attention, the cost of repairing them is quite high.

Most often, owners of Korean cars complain about the low speed of changing the ranges of automatic transmissions, but note its softness, mediocre steering, low drive sensitivity and the brakes that are prone to rapid overheating. The owners of the Japanese brand say that the most painful point of their machines is thrust bearings, but this applies only to the first generation, in subsequent generations this problem was eliminated.

Of the advantages, the owners of Kia Sorento distinguish smooth running, good noise insulation and spaciousness. X-Trail owners are pleased with the reliable braking system, the quality and comfort of the interior, especially on long journeys and the economical fuel consumption at high speeds. The strength and reliability of the body of both models is high and approximately the same.

The cost of X-Trail at an authorized dealer varies from 1,294,000 to 1,732,000 rubles, depending on the configuration. Sorento can be purchased for 2,134,900 rubles in the simplest configuration, for 2,714,900 rubles in the richest as of the beginning of 2018.

It is impossible to say unequivocally which is more reliable and profitable - Sorento or X-Trail. To make a choice, you should feel the car, touch it and see for yourself the advantage. To do this, both dealers provide the opportunity to sign up for a test drive. Both cars are legendary and worthy, but it's up to you to decide which one best suits your needs.

By comparing different vehicles with each other, it becomes easier for many buyers to decide on the final choice. Moreover, the analysis must be as objective and unbiased as possible.

Even within the framework of one auto concern, you can find several worthy crossovers at once, between which there is an internal struggle. Car enthusiasts do not know who to give preference to and what characteristics or criteria to focus on.

Because of this, comparison often includes cars that, in principle, belong to different categories in one way or another. In the case of Nissan Qashqai and Terrano, we are talking about compact SUVs with slightly different pricing policies. One pronounced state employee, and the second is more likely to be considered. But all the same, the models can and should be compared, taking into account the key and most significant characteristics.

General information

The Qashqai of the Japanese company Nissan belongs to the compact SUV category, which is equipped with front and all-wheel drive. This comparison involves the second generation, which was born in 2014, and in 2018 went through a planned restyling.

The Qashqai is the brand's first vehicle to use the new modular CMF platform. A new generation of X-Trail is now being created on it.

The Nissan Terrano is actually a redesigned version of its assembled Renault Duster model. The platform is the same as that of Duster. This is the third generation of Terrano, which is the representative of the segment of budget compact SUVs. First appeared in 2013 at the international exhibition in Mumbai. Although Terrano was initially planned to be produced purely for the Indian market, sales in Russia started in 2014. In 2016, the car went through a planned restyling and remains unchanged to this day. Moreover, as part of the modernization, the appearance was left intact, improving the motors, adding new modifications and raising the cost.

Exterior

In order to compare the Nissan Terrano and Nissan Qashqai with each other, it is worth starting with the appearance of the two crossovers.

The lack of appearance updates since the beginning of the existence of the 3rd generation of Terrano still affects. The exterior of this budget SUV is hardly modern. The car looks simple enough, devoid of all kinds of complex stamping. The front end looks frankly good, and the relationship with the Renault Duster is clearly visible from the side and rear.

Terrano image is off-road, uncharacteristic for modern urban crossovers. This is both good and bad, since some consider such a look to be successful, while others complain about some discrepancy between the exterior and real off-road capabilities. While the Terrano looks like a Duster at the back and sides, the front end is a lot like the Nissan Pathfinder. And this is an obvious advantage. Also on the positive side is the bevel and solid protection on the front bumper, with which the car gets improved off-road capabilities.

The second generation Nissan Qashqai, and even after the planned restyling, allows the model to be positioned as a full-fledged modern urban crossover. The look is stylish, dynamic and European. Beautiful lines, refined optics, an original front end in combination with massive arches and a muscular body make the second Qashqai an extremely attractive option.

For Qashqai, solutions are provided to match the new corporate style of Nissan. There is a possibility that after the update Terrano will receive something similar. But so far nothing has been officially announced.

As a result, according to external data, Qashqai is perceived as a true city dweller, and Terrano looks more like an SUV, but only in reduced sizes. Everyone decides for himself what is closer to him. But objectively, the exterior of the Qashqai turned out to be much more attractive than the already outdated Terrano.

In terms of dimensions, Qashqai offers the following figures:

  • 4377 mm. in length;
  • 1806 mm. in width;
  • 1590 mm. by height;
  • 200 mm. clearance;
  • 2646 mm. wheelbase.

The Terrano received many similar dimensions. In numbers, it looks like this:

  • length 4342 mm .;
  • height 1668 mm .;
  • width 1822 mm .;
  • 210 mm .;
  • wheelbase 2674 mm.

It's not just important to be of equal size More important is how well the engineers can take advantage of these dimensions. First of all, they are reflected in the space inside the passenger compartment, as well as in the volume of the luggage compartment.

Interior and trunks

If you had to drive a Renault Duster, then when you get into the Nissan Terrano, you will practically not feel anything new for yourself. The solutions inside the crossover turned out to be too similar.

The most attractive salon is the one that was updated in 2017. The interior in Terrano looks as profitable as possible only in the top configuration, where there is a touchscreen multimedia display, nice washers that are responsible for climate control, as well as all kinds of inserts and decor for metal. In the basic version, everything is overly boring and gray. Ergonomics are not exemplary, there are obvious disadvantages, as well as their own advantages. Looking inside the Terrano, you perfectly understand that this is a budget crossover. And you should be ready for this.

The issue of driver and passenger comfort was clearly not given enough attention, or they simply did not want to invest a lot of money. As a result, there is a lot of space in the back and in front, there is no lack of legroom or in the ceiling. But the front seats lack tangible lateral support, the cushions are flat and stiff. Behind the same problem.

Qashqai strikes the perfect balance between the quality of the materials used and ergonomics. Everything is in its place, the finish is on a level, decorative inserts are quite appropriate. The interior of Qasgqai can be described as modern and neat, purely European, in line with current trends.

In front are very comfortable seats with pronounced lateral support and wide adjustment possibilities. But the rear passengers cannot count on the same level of comfort. The sofa is flat, the pillow is hard. Calculation for 3 seats.

Landing in the back is more spacious in the Terrano. With sofas approximately the same in terms of comfort, the budget crossover from Nissan has a slight advantage in terms of the comfort of the rear passengers. But if we talk about the overall impression, then Qashqai will be the undisputed favorite here.

Regardless of the drive type, the Qashqai offers 430 liters of boot space when stowed. By folding the rear row, a flat floor is formed, and the volume increases to 1,585 liters.

The size of the Terrano's trunk is affected by the use of four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. In the first case, the compartment has only 408 liters, but in the second it increases to 475 liters, surpassing the Qashqai. Folding the rear seats, a fairly flat area is formed with a volume of 1570 and 1646 liters for four-wheel drive and front-wheel drive, respectively.

In both cases, there is a niche in the subfield where a full-size spare wheel is located.

With a slight edge and on condition of front-wheel drive, the Terrano wins in terms of boot volume. But the all-wheel drive modification is inferior to the more compact Qashqai.

Motors, transmissions and their capabilities

It is also worth looking for differences between the Nissan Qashqai and the budget Nissan Terrano in terms of their technical characteristics, efficiency and dynamics.

To understand how one crossover differs from another, you just need to look at the proposed motors, boxes, as well as the dynamics and efficiency of the available internal combustion engines.

To the great regret of many Russians, after restyling, 130 horsepower with a fuel consumption of less than 5 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km became unavailable for Russia. Only the gasoline engines remained, which somewhat equalized the chances of two comparable crossovers from the same manufacturer.

Therefore, the comparison will be carried out purely for those engines that are available for the Nissan Terrano and the conditional opponent Qashqai in the Russian market.

Qashqai in Russia is sold with 2 engines.

  1. The basic internal combustion engine is a 1.2-liter turbo engine with 115 horsepower. Combines with a manual transmission or a continuously variable variator. It accelerates from zero to hundreds in 10.9 and 12.9 seconds. respectively. The maximum speed on the mechanics is 185, and on the variator only 173 kilometers per hour. It consumes an average of 5.6 to 6.2 liters of fuel per 100 km.
  2. The top-end is a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated internal combustion engine that generates 144 hp. Combines with mechanics and variator. But all-wheel drive is available only with a CVT box. On mechanics, acceleration from zero to hundreds takes 9.9 seconds, and the variator gives out from 10.1 to 10.5 seconds, depending on the drive. Fuel consumption averages 7.7 liters for the mechanics and 6.9-7.3 liters for the variator.

In terms of performance, Terrano is unlikely to surprise Duster owners or those who have studied the details of this car. This is due to the fact that there are 2 gasoline engines available for Terrano, which are also installed on the Duster. The diesel version for the Terrano does not provide Renault. It's a pity.

  1. The standard or basic internal combustion engine is a 1.6-liter engine with 114 horsepower. The front-wheel drive version is equipped with 5 manual transmissions, and all-wheel drive comes with 6 manual transmissions. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes from 10.9 to 12.5 seconds. The maximum speed is only 167 kilometers per hour. In the combined cycle, consumption ranges from 7.4 to 7.6 liters per 100 km.
  2. The senior engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder internal combustion engine with a return of 143 horses. Such an engine comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed automatic, and only with all-wheel drive. Acceleration takes from 10.7 to 11.5 seconds, and the maximum speed does not exceed 180 kilometers per hour. On average, the engine will consume 7.8-8.7 liters of gasoline for every 100 km. paths.

With a relative equality in power, the engines for the Nissan Qashqai are more modern and more economical, providing better dynamics.

The motors for the Terrano are not bad. But they do not accelerate the car well, do not demonstrate exemplary efficiency, and have a low maximum speed.

But the problem with Qashqai is that for some reason all-wheel drive only comes with a variator box. At the same time, Terrano can be taken on a full drive with an automatic and a manual transmission, which is much more preferable in terms of operating the car in conditions of bad roads and off-road conditions.

Controllability and passability

This is a rather interesting and controversial question. If you are looking for an all-terrain small car that will be able to drive through difficult sections and overcome relatively difficult off-road conditions, then, without options, the Nissan Terrano will be the most preferred choice.

The Terrano model has a powerful and sturdy suspension, a well thought-out front bumper, factory engine protection, a minimum number of protruding elements that allow squeezing a maximum of 205 mm of ground clearance. But the Terrano's handling is worse, the car does not obey the driver so well. Off-road, the budget crossover definitely wins.

But if we take urban conditions as a basis, even with not the highest quality road surface, the leadership goes to Qashqai. More comfortable, but not overly soft, suspension, obedient and precise steering. Although the Qashqai is inferior to the Terrano by only 5 mm. in terms of ground clearance, the Qashqai has a body that is poorly adapted to off-road terrain. The rear end now and then clings to bumps.

It is difficult to make a choice in favor of one of the candidates, since each has different goals. If you are buying a crossover for the city, planning to periodically go out by car somewhere in nature, which does not require wading through mud and swamp, then feel free to buy Nissan Qashqai. For those who need a rogue, a workhorse, a fishing and hunting machine, then definitely take the Terrano.

Configuration and cost

It's no secret that when choosing a car, many are guided by the issue of an affordable budget and the ability to get the most for less money.

Initially, it was said that the Terrano belongs to the budget SUV category, while the Qashqai is more of a mid-budget.

In 2019, the Nissan Qashqai is offered in Russia in 10 trim levels at once. For the simplest version, they ask for a minimum of 1.3 million rubles. For this money, you can get a 1.2-liter base engine with a 6-speed manual. A minimum of 1.45 million will cost a Qashqai with a 2.0-liter engine with manual transmission, and for all-wheel drive you will have to pay at least 1.6 million.

In this case, the complete set will consist of:

  • GLONASS;
  • 6 airbags;
  • heated windshield;
  • heating the front seats;
  • electric windows for 4 doors;
  • air conditioner;
  • cruise control;
  • leather steering wheel, etc.

The top equipment is generally fantastic, but it costs at least 1.9 million rubles. With all-wheel drive, the Qashqai is available for 2 million and up.

The Terrano does not have this level of equipment. But the prices are different here. Terrano starts with a price tag of 980 thousand rubles, although back in 2017 it cost from 850 thousand.

The basic equipment consists of:

  • 2 airbags;
  • power steering;
  • air conditioner;
  • ABS (against ABS, ESP and EBD in the Kashkai base);
  • front power windows;
  • audio systems for 4 speakers;
  • steel discs;
  • roof rails, etc.

For all-wheel drive, you will have to pay 1.1 million rubles at best, and the version with an automatic transmission costs another 80-100 thousand more.

Only in the top performance of the Nissan Terrano car you can see:

  • leather interior;
  • ABS and ESP;
  • 4 airbags;
  • heated front seats;
  • multimedia complex;
  • rear parking sensors;
  • light alloy wheels, etc.

For such a car you will have to pay from 1.3 million rubles.

Where the maximum configuration of the Nissan Terrano ends, the price tags for the Nissan Qashqai are just starting to start. But at the same time, you can clearly see what a rich set of equipment the owner of Qashqai gets, even in the basic configuration. One can only imagine what will include a car worth about 2 million rubles.

Objectively, Qashqai is more modern and has a corresponding content. The Terrano looks good for a 2013 car, and the equipment is decent. But in 2019, completely different requirements are imposed.

Summing up

It is really difficult to objectively answer the question of which is better - Nissan Terrano or Nissan Qashqai. Cars from different price categories are aimed at several different categories of buyers and their goals.

If the budget is limited at the mark, it will still be difficult to decide whether to take the Terrano at maximum speed, or to prefer the more modern and stylish Qashqai, albeit in the basic configuration. The set of equipment turned out to be too rich.

Abstracting from the goals and budget, it is still possible to draw conclusions. Qashqai is better than its opponent in many respects, from appearance to a more advanced platform, high security, technical characteristics and economy. Think of the Terrano as an inexpensive workhorse. Although the rise in prices has led to the fact that now it is unlikely to take Terrano for less than 1 million rubles. And for that kind of money, you can buy Duster in an excellent configuration, albeit with a more modest appearance. But the characteristics will remain the same, and the equipment is richer.

For urban operation, the modern motorist, the Qashqai is by far the best choice. For people who take a car for a fishing or hunting trip, for summer residents and gardeners, Terrano looks preferable. The car is cheaper in price and more affordable in terms of maintenance. You will have to spend more money on Qashqai.

Experienced car enthusiasts know that Asian models are the leading crossovers in the automotive world today. In this article, we will contrast the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Terrano, and then determine which is better - Terrano or Creta.

Appearance

When studying the external appearance of cars, it was possible to notice that they have some common points. For example, this is dynamism and Asian conservatism. However, the exterior of Terrano shows more aggressiveness and assertiveness. Greta looks calmer, but the exterior of the car is definitely not boring.

At the front of the Creta there is a proprietary false radiator, compact headlights and a powerful bumper. The side and the back cannot offer anything unusual. The same can be said for the Japanese opponent. The front of the Terrano is equipped with a huge grille, large headlights and a voluminous bumper.

Creta or Terrano? Considering that outwardly the Japanese looks fresh, we will give preference to him at this point.

Salon

In general, the layout of the crossover cabin also has a lot in common, but this concerns the external outlines. Indeed, if you look closely, you can find out that the interior decoration of Terrano is noticeably superior to its counterpart, especially in terms of technology. In the cabin of the "Japanese" there is a branded dashboard with a large touch screen and a practical steering wheel.

Cret's panel is more primitive, but this can also be perceived as an advantage, since there are no unnecessary elements that could distract the driver while driving.

If we talk about finishing materials, then the clear favorite is the Japanese crossover.
Terrano or Creta? It is undoubtedly the Nissan Terrano.

Specifications

The situation with the stuffing of "cars" is very ambiguous. On the one hand, the Terrano engine line can offer a wider range of engines than the Creta, but the Japanese have them significantly weaker.

Judge for yourself: gasoline units for 1.6 and 2.0 liters produce 102 and 135 horsepower, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine - 90 “horses”. For comparison, the 1.6 and 2.0 liter gasoline power plants of a Korean car produce 123 and 149 horsepower. Naturally, this affects the dynamism, therefore, in this aspect, we will give the Creta the advantage.

Prices

Those wishing to buy Greta will have to pay at least 800 thousand rubles. His Japanese opponent will cost 765 thousand rubles. Based on this, we will give the advantage to the Japanese SUV.

Output

It can be noted right away that Japanese designers have tried more, and have better designed the exterior and interior of the car. Korean manufacturers decided to sacrifice their looks and threw all their efforts into technical specifications, which turned out to be really chic. Considering this, it no longer seems strange that Terrano is 35 thousand rubles cheaper than his opponent.

Creta or Terrano? To summarize, when choosing one of these SUVs, we recommend paying attention to the "Japanese".
