For me, a car with this engine is just a fairy tale. Up to a hundred, and in other matters and further up to 145 km / h (I have not accelerated more, and there is nothing to it) it accelerates easily and naturally, and this is very pleased.

You get used to short speeds quickly. You can use two gears around the city: 1st and 3rd (or 4th, depending on the manner of movement). At the bottom, the car is very high-torque. On the track, you can ride and overtake comfortably in one 5th gear. The steering wheel is sharp, 2.5 turns from rebound to rebound. Fuel consumption by computer: in the combined cycle 8.5-9.2 l / 100 km, purely city (active driving + traffic jams) - above 11.2, taking into account all the warming up, there has not yet been a pure track - 6.2 liters at a speed of 80-110 km / h Please take into account that Logan is still more of a city car and it is undesirable to arrange races on it, although he will go 170 km / h with ease.

You can also write about the shortcomings, but they are insignificant, subjective and fit into the price / quality ratio of this car. Many people write that the brushes are bad. Maybe, but with others in winter it will be a little better (already tested). The point here is that the zone of rest of the brushes is not blown by warm air and everything there quickly freezes over (this is structurally done). So get ready to jump out at traffic lights for cleaning or find heated brushes;) There are no breakdowns and, I hope, for the next 150 thousand mileage is not expected, and then we will see.

The bottom line is this. Who needs a reliable, solid workhorse, playful, economical and comfortable enough, for relatively little money, then you can take a closer look at the updated Logan. Appearance has always been a subjective category, but it turned out that a "gift" horse does not look in the mouth :) My whole family is happy with this acquisition and it pleases.

Thanks to the structural changes made, the engineers managed to significantly increase the power - up to 102 horses, although this had to be paid for by increasing the peak to 5,750 rpm. And the thrust has not grown so much - up to 145 Nm of torque, and its peak has risen to 3,750 rpm.

This made it possible to significantly improve the dynamic characteristics of Renault, bringing the acceleration to hundreds to 10.5 seconds, and the maximum speed to 180 km / h. Consumption in such conditions (in the city) is 9.4 liters.

Such solutions allowed engineers to achieve almost all goals - to create a simple, reliable and inexpensive unit in operation with acceptable technical specifications. indicators. But with the fuel consumption, an overlay came out, since the official data does not reflect the real picture. The budget car models Renault Logan 1.4 and Logan 1.6 have won the recognition of many thousands of motorists over the nearly ten-year history of their presence on Russian roads. The concept of the French manufacturer, who decided back in 1998 to create an inexpensive and practical passenger car intended for emerging markets, in Russia received the most triumphant continuation and unexpected development.

If in 2005 it all started on a small site of the Avtoframos enterprise in Moscow with a "screwdriver" assembly of several thousand cars a month, today the Volzhsky Automobile Plant is already building its annual plans, relying on a whole "Logan" model scattering: Renault Logan, Renault Sandero, Lada Largus. Sales of these three models in the country in 2014 exceeded 160 thousand pieces.

To a large extent, such popularity of these Renault models was ensured by the use of single-shaft internal combustion engines (ICE) of the K7J 1.4 l and K7M 1.6 l series as power units on them as power units, proven and well-proven on other machines of the 8V concern. The flagship of the line for Renault Logan, it is considered to be a 16V four-cylinder liquid cooling unit with the K4M index, the production of which, in addition to the parent company Renault Espana. It was also mastered at AvtoVAZ production sites. Other Renault models (Sandero, Duster, Kangoo, Megane, Fluence), as well as Lada Largus and Nissan Almera G11 are still equipped with this 16-drip engine with decent technical characteristics.

Features of the design and specifications of the internal combustion engine

The design of the K7J engine (made by Automobile Dacia, Romania) 1.4 l / 75 hp. inherited from the rather old engines of the Renault corporation of the 80s of development (ExJ series) and therefore looks somewhat archaic: here there is an unusual chain drive of an oil pump, used on units with a lower camshaft, and ancient timing rocker arms.

The rest of the 1.4 engine solutions are standard and do not differ from other four-stroke 4-cylinder single-shaft SOHC engines: the arrangement of the cylinders is in-line vertical, 2 valves per cylinder, the timing belt drive from a toothed belt, liquid cooling and a combined lubrication system (the most loaded parts of the internal combustion engine are lubricated under pressure, among others - simple spraying). K7J is more than 400 thousand km of run. Motor 1.4 provides the car with the following dynamics: the maximum speed is 162 km / h, gaining a hundred in 13 seconds.

The Renault Logan K7M 710 engine and its successor K7M 800 (produced by the same Automobile Dacia) 1.6 liters and 86 hp. (K7M 800 - 82 hp) in design almost completely coincide with the K7J, they also have, but have a piston stroke increased by 10.5 mm, obtained by changing the block height.

A different clutch and flywheel (larger diameter) is also used, and the gearbox housing has minor shape changes. Resource K7M also exceeds 400 thousand km in mileage. Dynamic characteristics of the motor: speed at a maximum of 172 km / h, 100 km / h - in 11.9 sec unlike 1.4.

The greatest differences in design and performance are observed in the K4M engine, despite the fact that this ICE is 1.6 liters and 102 hp. is also just another development of the K7M series. All-new 16-valve cylinder head with two lightweight camshafts and a new piston system. Here, finally, the need for constant adjustment of the internal combustion engine valves through fairly short runs is eliminated, and is eliminated by the simple use of well-known hydraulic compensators.

The motor accelerates the car to 100 km / h in 10.5 seconds, reaching a maximum of 180 km - not bad performance at all. There are no frankly weak points in this unit: the necessary changes have been made to the system in terms of the pump and thermostat, the ignition module has also been revised.

Advantages and disadvantages of powertrains

Thus, a detailed analysis of the technical characteristics of all three ICE samples, as well as practical experience in operating Renault Logan with these power plants, allows you to decide which engine is better. A more powerful engine Renault Logan 2 1.6 l with liquid cooling is still somewhat preferable to its "big brother" 1.4 l. Power 75 hp just not enough for comfortable control of a laden car neither on a country road, nor in short "dashes".

And in the dispute between a 16V motor and 8V, the first sample is the undisputed leader. The only characteristic by which 16V loses to its opponent is “elasticity”. For the rest of the characteristics, 16V is better. Renault's liquid-cooled V16 engine is simply much more modern and gives the driver more options.
