Dismantling and restoration of vinyl film. Interior restoration, painting leather and plastic in the car Advantages of repairing leather car seats in the "Auto scratch" service

AMD plus specialists answer

There are two ways to eliminate defects: complete replacement of damaged elements and restoration of the car interior. To find out what method of car interior repair in Moscow suits you, our professionals answered the most frequently asked questions.

What is more profitable: complete replacement of damaged elements or restoration of the car interior?

Complete replacement of elements is a rather expensive and not always justified option. It is relevant, as a rule, in the case of very severe damage that cannot be repaired with the restoration of the car interior, or in solving complex problems (for example, a comprehensive repair of the leather interior of a car with full or partial replacement of the upholstery).

What defects and damage can be eliminated?

These are scuffs, cigarette marks, scratches and cracks on the casing. Such damage can be effectively repaired using a high quality paint method. With the help of painting, both the repair of a leather interior of a car and a fabric one are successfully performed. However, as already mentioned, the restoration of a leather car interior is a more demanded service.

Can I repair the upholstery with my own hands?

It is possible, but only if professional materials are used and the work technology is observed. Poor quality tools and non-compliance with technology can aggravate the situation. For a quick and guaranteed high-quality car interior repair, it is better to turn to professionals for help.

What are the advantages of local auto interior restoration?

Car interior restoration is a service that is gaining great popularity among car owners in Moscow. And this is easy to explain. Car interior repair in Moscow is an effective way to eliminate defects that does not require a lot of time and money. Thanks to modern technology, traces of the restoration are not noticeable, and the repaired part looks like new. As a rule, in a professional auto shop, restoration is carried out in just 1-5 hours, and the cost is 3-7 times cheaper than replacing an element. The repair of leather interiors is especially relevant, since the repair of the leather of the car interiors is much more affordable than the hauling.

During the operation of the car, its interior undergoes changes - its elements wear out, cracks, scuffs, and scratches may appear on them. Burns may occur in the cabin while smoking. And then you need to go to the workshop. Repair will help get rid of such consequences of operation. And it must be completed in a timely manner, without shelving.

If someone accidentally burns the skin or vinyl with a cigarette, then, without completing the repair of the burn-throughs in the car interior in a timely manner, the entire interior will have to be tightened, which will entail additional costs. During the repair, high-quality degreasing, adhesive and coloring and repair compounds are used. For such a repair, a professional tool is needed, which is used to clean, glue and heat the restored material. By doing this, the aesthetic appearance is returned to the damaged area and, at the same time, it acquires sufficient strength.

Repair of interior and steering wheel for cuts and rubbing

Also, the repair of the skin of the car interior with cuts is carried out using special tools. Such repair is a rather complicated process that also requires special materials, for example, liquid leather. It should be done without haste, very carefully. The use of technological developments allows avoiding damage to other elements of the car interior during such repairs.

When rubbing, rubbing, staining, it is necessary to paint the car's skin. Experienced craftsmen in the workshop, having the skills and knowledge, having accurately selected the required paint color, will perform it in such a way that it will be impossible to determine the performance of the leather dyeing. Also, using a professional tool will allow you to get the job done quickly.

The steering wheel is in friction mode for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to paint it from time to time. More recently, painting a wheel with excellent quality has been difficult to do. But new technologies, techniques and paints and varnishes make it possible to paint quickly and efficiently. The steering wheel can be painted even without dismantling it.

Thanks to the development of technology, it has become possible to paint the steering wheel. Then, paint is applied to the steering wheel using a paint spray gun and a compressor. And the last step will be to cover the steering wheel with a finishing material.

If any of you have read my previous reviews, then you are aware that I have a car - Peugeot 607. A car with a leather interior, which has worn out a little during operation and today looks far from the same as immediately after the manufacture of the iron horse. At first I wanted to give it to a complete restoration, but after learning the cost of this service, I abandoned this idea. I also thought to simply change the interior from gray to ivory, but I would have to change the entire trim, which entailed additional costs. Then he decided to just repaint the salon, but having learned the technology of this procedure, he gave up this idea. It was decided to drive further, especially since apart from a couple of large cracks, there was no other critical damage ... And it continued this way until I accidentally stumbled upon a set on eBay to help in the fight against damaged areas of leather or vinyl products. It was he who was immediately ordered. The seller sent the parcel the next day after payment, however, he did not give a full track for it. But he gave the track SF-Express, which is tracked throughout China. If someone is interested, then the events on it can be viewed.

The parcel took about 3 weeks to travel from China to Belarus. Despite the fact that no packaging is visible in the seller's photos, the kit came in its original factory box. The obverse has an inscription in both English and French (not sure). So this product is primarily focused on increasing exports to China :)

On the back of the box there is also a mass of inscriptions telling about what is in front of us and why we need it.

Inside the box is the "repair kit" itself, which includes 7 jars with something similar to paint, one jar for mixing paints and getting the desired color, a spreading shelf, five pieces of fabric with different textures and instructions for use.

The weight of one can of paint is 8 grams. Looking ahead, I want to say that this amount will be enough for a long time if the cracks are covered. If the holes are repaired (you can do that), then the resource will significantly decrease due to the large volume of materials used.

The mass of paint in all jars is approximately the same. Their total weight is 59 grams.

Outwardly, the paints in the jars look like watercolor diluted with water. They are thick, shiny. Due to its high density, the paint is suitable for creating textured objects - you make the first layer, it hardens, you put a new layer on it, it hardens, and you repeat this procedure until you get the desired thickness.

Also included are 5 pieces of fabric that are used to give the repaired surface the desired pattern. The texture of the fabric is different. The fifth piece (which did not appear in the photo - just smooth (like paper), the camera refused to focus on it).

The instruction is black and white, printed on A4 paper. Conventionally, it can be divided into 2 parts: the first - how to make repairs, the second - which paints should be mixed to obtain the desired color.

In principle, there is nothing more to say about the composition of the set. So you can move on to its practical tests.

And all would be fine, only during the time that the package was on the way, I managed to sell my car :) However, a friend has a Peugeot 406 with similar problems, so this did not affect the usefulness of this set. :) Comrade has a black interior, so I didn't have to deal with mixing colors.

This is how the damaged area looked like before the start of restoration work.

It is not very noticeable in the photo, but the scratches are deep enough, it feels like someone was rubbing on the chair with coarse sandpaper.

To begin with, we wipe the damaged area with a napkin, clean it of dust and other debris. The instructions say that to improve the effect, you need to degrease the treated area with alcohol. I skipped this step. If there are any protruding pieces of leather, then they should be cut off. After that, you can engage in the selection of the desired color. After its manufacture (mixing), the color of the resulting paint should be slightly darker than the color of the product that is being repaired. This is due to the fact that during the drying process, the paint brightens. As I said, I didn't have to interfere with anything - black, it's black everywhere :)

We take the stick that comes with the kit, and we hook a little paint on its tip. After that, the paint was gently smeared over the damaged area. It smudges very well. Moreover, even a small ball of paint is enough to process a site with a decent area. I hooked on the paint with the very tip, and it was enough for an area of \u200b\u200babout 7 x 10 centimeters, even still left.

It is necessary to smear carefully and quickly. Plasticizer and hardener are added to the paint. It freezes quickly enough even at low temperatures (it was somewhere around +7 for us). After the entire damaged area is covered with paint, glue a sheet with the desired texture onto it.

Everything must be done carefully so as not to get caught in the paint. It didn't work out for me, so I had to wash it off, but it washes off very badly (there was no solvent at hand).

We leave the leaf for a while. I left it for about an hour. Then we tear off.

Excess paint remains on the sheet, an even layer remains on the treated area. This is what the chair looks like after repair:

Not a trace of scratches remained! To be honest, I thought the result would be worse. But how the procedure ended impressed both me and the owner of the car.

Summing up everything that is written above, I want to say that the repair turned out to be suitable. Yes, it's just paint with the addition of a plasticizer and hardener, but it does the trick. And it does it very well. At the site of the cracks, there is now a smooth, pleasant layer that does not in any way remind of what was there before. Given the low cost and ease of use, I think that such a set will be useful to everyone who has a car with a leather interior. How firmly the paint will hold on the armchair and whether it will not wear off - you will only find out with time, but in any case it will not get worse than it was :) So if you are tired of scratches and cracks on the seats in your favorite car, now you will know what to do ;) Well, you can't take off the fact that this set is suitable not only for cars, but also for any other leather or vinyl products :)

On this, perhaps, everything. Thank you for your attention and your time.

Leatherette and vinyl are the most in demand. If it's just a slight wear, everything is limited to coloring. The repair place is cleaned and degreased with a special solution. Then the surface is sanded a little so that the paint lay down better. Her tone is matched by eye.

The paint is applied with a spray gun in several passes. After two sprays, the surface is dried with an ordinary hair dryer. At the finishing stage, they are covered with a protective varnish. It consists of two solutions - matte and glossy. They are mixed in a certain proportion to achieve the desired shine. After all, new skin wears out over time and becomes more matte. This varnish does not protect against mechanical stress, but masks the repair site.

Painting work is estimated at about 1,700 rubles, and they are given a guarantee: from three to nine months. Such a spread is associated with the place of repair and the nature of the operation of the machine. If it is a steering wheel or driver's seat side airbag, then the warranty will be less, since these elements are actively worn out.

Deeper damage to leather and vinyl coverings (tears, cuts and holes) is repaired using a special gel - a bi-compound (B Compound). They "treat" the upholstery, which has been slightly tucked in, but the burr can still be smoothed; the composition is able to recreate the surface with more serious damage. It is normally a white gel; under the influence of high temperature, it polymerizes and becomes transparent.

Let's say a cigarette burns through a leather seat. If the burn-through has reached the filling, leaving a deep hole in it, it is sealed with pieces of foam rubber mixed with special glue. Next, a mesh fabric is glued between the leather lining and the padding, and already on top of it, the hole is filled with a bi-compound. In case of large damage, the gel is applied and dried with a building hairdryer in several approaches, since the thick layer polymerizes unevenly. At the final stage, when the bi-compound is still hot, an impression of the skin texture and a leather sandbag are placed on it, which accelerates the cooling of the surface and helps to get a more embossed pattern. Next, the repair site is painted and a protective varnish is applied.

The easiest way to work is with vinyl. It can be melted easily and in a controlled manner using a hot air gun, so when repairing small cuts and tears, you can do without gel. Plus, as long as the vinyl is hot, texture is reproduced well. The restored surface is obtained as similar as possible to the original, while the process requires the least investment of time and money. It is also convenient to work with real leather. It is quite dense and firm, but stretches well if necessary. But the leatherette is too capricious. It is very fragile and does not tolerate the heating required during repairs. There is a high risk that the coating next to the recovery area may crack.

Hello everyone.

Today's kit will focus on a fairly budgetary leather and / or vinyl repair kit that I purchased from eBay. The purchase was made from another seller, but at the time of publication of the review, the ad is closed, so there is a link above to the same, but accidentally found, set.
