I paid by cash on delivery. delivery ... a 220r. paint 300, varnish 250, primer 200. total, together with the delivery of 970r + 118r with kopecks at the post office took. on the K3N website, the name of the color is listed as Golden Beat Metallic-golden metallic, just like my color is called by the manufacturer, in fact K3N came, but the name BRONZE PEARL is bronze metallic. I talked to the manager Ksenia, a very pleasant, competent person. She explained that the name does not play a role, that at first the color was called that, then it was renamed and that the main color code is K3N. I tinted the chip it seems that it is darker than my own paint, but I immediately make an amendment that I may have applied too much paint, there is no experience in this matter and still a slight experience because of the different name of the paint). How to find out the paint codes VAZ (Lada)

The VAZ paint code must be known to all owners of domestic cars who decide to carry out local body repairs on their own. In the catalog site there are aerosol paints and pencils for touch-up with a brush in a wide range of shades, marked according to the factory palette. With their help, you can easily cope with scratches and other defects of the paintwork, you just need to choose the color according to the code of your car.

Where are the paint codes for VAZ (Lada)

In most new cars, the Lada paint code is located on the trunk lid. But this little piece of paper, called "Form 3347", is very easy to lose over time. In addition, it can often be found in the glove compartment, next to a spare tire, or at a brake light. For this reason, all new Lada owners are advised to rewrite the enamel markings, for example, on the inside of the gas tank cap, or keep the warranty card, in which it is also indicated.

If the number is irretrievably lost, you can always contact our managers, who will help you determine the code by model and year of manufacture of the car. We also provide services for the computer selection of the enamel shade.

Traffic intensity in modern metropolitan areas is fraught with both traffic congestion and lack of parking spaces. Overcrowding of cars leads to accidents, and micro-damage to the painted surface, such as chips from road rubble, scratches and scuffs, have already entered the category of everyday and familiar. Every owner of a personal vehicle one day has to look for an answer to the question - how to find out the paint number of a car, because repainting the entire body due to a minor flaw is impractical.

Sometimes repairs are simply urgent, because the paint performs, in addition to an aesthetic one, a protective function - it protects the car from corrosion. Delay in such chepe leads to more serious consequences and, accordingly, more significant investment.

What is the number for and where to find it

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

If it is not planned to completely repaint the car, then a partial restoration implies an exact match of shades. Local restoration is much more economical, but requires a professional approach at all stages: from paint selection to final polishing of the body (in 98% of cases). Careful selection of the enamel helps to avoid sharp color transitions. Experts do not recommend eliminating the defect itself, but for a better visual result, they advise painting the entire damage area: wing, trunk door. To get into the right tone, you actually need to find this mysterious number, which loves to play hide and seek with a car enthusiast.

Location of the Vin number in the car

Domestic cars are known for their simplicity of structure and uncomplicated equipment. You can find the coveted code on VAZs, GAZs and other similar draft horses in the warranty card (if available) or on the inside of the trunk lid; when there is nothing in the trunk, then it is worth looking under the hood lid. On models that have already passed into the category of "retro", the tag is sometimes located under the seat, and in some cases - under the spare wheel. Each color has an identification number and an official factory name. The answer to the burning question of how to find out the paint number on domestic cars has been received - it means it's time to turn on the second gear!

Foreign cars are more successful in terms of clandestine places for placing information plates, and their color code is much more intricate. The enamel number can have not only digital, but also letter designation.

So, let's look into the salon and try to narrow the search area, having the current information on the most likely placement of labels with paint codes:
  • Left car pillar (passenger side) or right pillar (driver's side);
  • Hood space;
  • Wheel arch from the front passenger side;
  • Inner side of the trunk lid;
  • A niche where the spare wheel is located;
  • Rail;
  • A partition under the hood, which serves as a fuse at the time of a fire in the engine area;
  • Front radiator bar.

The paint code on the nameplate usually follows the catchy English COLOR. Or, if there is no such mark, you need to pay attention to numbers consisting of three or more characters.

Selection of paint

Enamels that are used in car painting contain several basic components: solvent, pigment, additives and a binder base. Currently, the composition of paints is becoming more and more complicated, and, accordingly, the choice of the buyer is expanding. However, other aspects are also of interest to the consumer: a mistakenly chosen shade can result in not only a waste of time, but also the need for new financial investments, not to mention nerve cells that are not restored.

The presence of a paint number also does not solve all problems, since the color of the car can change over time due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Here are a few different effective methods for determining the color of your four-wheeled friend:

  • Search for a sticker on the body;
  • Contacting the seller's salon for detailed information;
  • Contacting a car service with an experienced colorist;
  • Search for information on the Internet by the date of the car's release;
  • "The poke method";
  • Specialized programs that are also easy to find on the Internet;
  • Sending a gas tank flap to a specialist by mail;
  • Search by VIN number.

Let's consider the last option and don't forget about the transition to fourth gear!

What is VIN number

Finding this number is quite easy, because in accordance with the rules of the ISO 3779 standard, the metal VIN plate must be fixed in such a way that it cannot be removed without damaging the car body. The most popular places for vendor identification numbers are:

  • Windshield inspection hole;
  • Left passenger rack;
  • The lower part of the door;
  • Hood space (next to the engine).

VIN-number is a cipher of seventeen numbers and letters that stores detailed and most important information about your car. It is this small plate that contains information about the code of the factory paint, and possession of such data increases the success of the color selection several times. The cipher is read by a special computer program.

And finally, here are some important tips so that your car does not turn out to be lurid in color:

  1. Consider lighting during visual verification when adjusting the tone to the desired result;
  2. Check with the colorist for the number of layers and the nature of the paint spraying;
  3. Look for an advanced colorist with a spectrophotometer and a perfect eye.

The color numbers of VAZ cars given in the table below, the color numbers will help you find out the color of the car and the number of the car paint. It is applicable to the following models of domestic VAZ cars: 1111 Oka, 2101-2121, 2131 (Niva) 4x4, Chevrolet Niva, LADA Priora (Priora), LADA Kalina (Kalina), LADA Kalina Sport, LADA 110, LADA 112 Coupe, LADA Samara , LADA 2105, LADA 2107, LADA 4x4, LADA Grant, Volga, IZH, GAZ cars

How to find out the color of a VAZ car

The label with the number of the body color of domestic cars can be found on the trunk lid, in the glove compartment, in the spare wheel niche near the spare wheel or under it, under the stop signal on the spoiler. This simple piece of paper is called Form 3347. Sometimes it is difficult to find, easy to lose and easily forgotten. Therefore, if it is found, the champions recommend writing down the number and name of the paint with a marker on the inside of the gas tank flap. If you have a used car, check it, maybe someone has already done it.

Note also that the color code is also written in warranty card.

What else can be done to find out "what are my Zhiguli painted in?" Alternatively, it is to contact the dealer from whom you bought the car, which works naturally only if the dealer is a completely official organization.

If you do not have any documentary evidence indicating the color with which your car is painted, you can try to establish it using the LADA painting plan at the factory. To do this, you need to know the exact date (year, month, day +/-) of the release of your car and it must not be younger than 2005. If you know the date - write to us, we will try to find out the color of the car in this way.

However, the surest way to determine a color is to refer to colorist... And you can choose the right shade if you show the colorist the gas tank flap, with the help of which a specialist using special equipment will be able to make paint for you exactly in color and in the volume you need - a tint, a spray can or a can. Actually, all this can be done in our laboratories for computer selection of paint.

It is called VIN number, VIN code or just body number, but they are all the same. VIN can be compared to a car's fingerprint. The VIN code can indicate the car manufacturer, model, year and place of production, all its parameters, etc.

Why is it needed

VIN (short for Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique code used by the automotive industry to identify every car, bus, truck, motorcycle, or even trailer.

The specific and very complex structure of the VIN code should in theory ensure that every vehicle produced since 1981 has a unique identification number. Thus, it is almost impossible to find two cars with the same VIN. This allows you to assign a code to a specific vehicle and track its history.

What the VIN symbols mean

The first three characters are called the Worldwide Manufacturer Index (WMI). The first one says in which country the car was made or where the manufacturer's headquarters are located. 2 and 3 marks indicate the manufacturer of the machine.

For example, if the first characters of the VIN code are 1VW, then this is a Volkswagen made in the USA. If the first character was W, it would mean that this Volkswagen was. By the way, if a manufacturer produces a small number of cars (for example, in the European Union this means 500 or fewer cars per year), it always uses the number 9 as the third character of the VIN.

The middle part (4-9 characters) is a section of the vehicle descriptor (VDS) that describes its type. In accordance with local regulations and other reasons, each manufacturer has developed its own unique VDS system. It usually provides information about the model, body type, engine type, vehicle platform used, number of doors, etc.

The last character group (10-17) is used as the Vehicle Identifier (VIS) section. This is a unique serial number by which the manufacturer can accurately identify the vehicle. So, VIS reveals everything: from the year of manufacture to the original equipment of the car.

Where is the VIN number in the car

Why is this so useful?

VIN is used to identify the vehicle. All “life events” of a particular vehicle, such as production, registration, maintenance, accidents, warranty claims, thefts, insurance coverage, purchase, etc., are recorded in various registries and databases using the VIN number. Therefore, with the help of software, you can find all this data and generate a report on the history of a specific car.

Just having the VIN number of a car, you can find out not only basic information about the car (year of manufacture, engine power, fuel or transmission type, etc.), but also more specific and useful data. It also includes an archive of photographs at different times, if there were any accidents, if it was stolen, how many owners it had, and so on. When you have different data for different dates, you can compare them and discover mileage fraud or hidden accidents.

How to find out the color of a car paint by VIN-code

Let's see how you can find out the color of the car by VIN code:

  • Open the driver's door. Like other information posted on your vehicle, paint code information is usually found inside the driver's door on the jamb. Two types of codes are indicated - one for the exterior paint, the other for the interior color. Write down the paint code and call your supplier's support so they can decode it for you.
  • Flip through the instructions. If you cannot find out the color of the paint from the code, check your vehicle manual, as this book can determine where the correct codes were placed. Take a close look at each doorframe and under the top of the bonnet.
  • Write down your VIN. Every passenger vehicle has a 17-digit serial code unique to your vehicle. Sometimes it is located on the windshield in the corner or directly under the bonnet, on the inside at one of the corners.

Be careful when using the internet to decode vehicle paint colors by VIN. There are many websites that map paint color codes to their names, but this information may be incorrect. Among the features of searching for a code in domestic cars, only simplicity can be distinguished - all information plates are located under the hood or on the trunk lid.

How to find paint code

Examples of placement of plates with paint codes in foreign cars of the most popular models:

  • Acura / Honda... The identification code plate is located directly on the driver's side door jamb. Standard color code format: NH-583M; stands for "Vogue Silver Metallic Clearcoat". This color can also stand for Silver Clearcoat, Light Silver Clearcoat, etc., depending on what the marketing department decides to name it.
  • Audi codes usually hard to find. In most cases, they are located somewhere near the spare wheel. Printed on an identification paper tag that is guaranteed to fall out and be lost over time.

    Standard color code format: LY9H or P1. Typically, most Audi are labeled LY9H, but sometimes P1 is also found. LY9H matches the body color “Polar White Clearcoat”, P1 is also used on some Audi for the same color. The LY9H code corresponds to the color White Clearcoat, although a different name may be used, such as Moonstone Clearcoat, etc.
  • Bmw... The code is usually located under the hood near the roof pillars, although it can sometimes be found on the engine cover, on the radiator frame, on the doorframe, or in the trunk. The standard code format is 300, which corresponds to the color "Alpine White III Clearcoat". Be careful, as the code “300” can also be called “White Clearcoat”, “Premium White Clearcoat”, etc.
  • Chrysler (AMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Plymouth)... The codes are difficult to find. Initially, manufacturers placed codes on top of the radiator support, which made it impossible to identify them due to the engine lubrication and the oil under which they were hiding. In later models, designers began to place them in the driver's door frame. Code format: BS / GBS, where the code itself is only "BS". The first letter is the mysterious "Yearly Code" which, no matter what was intended, just creates confusion. BS corresponds to the color "Deep Water Blue Pearl Clearcoat". The “G” in “GBS” is not part of the color code.
  • Ford (Ford, Lincoln, Mercury)... Always on the driver's door jamb, but often they will have a higher color code where it says "Exterior Paint Code". Usually it is not correct. In addition, on the color plate you can see CC Met which stands for “Clearcoat Metallic” and is not part of the color code. Sometimes they color code right in the middle of the sticker. The important thing here is to first look at the color picker, make an educated guess as to which color is correct, and then find that code on the color plate. Code format: PM / M6599, which corresponds to "Bright Calypso Metallic Clearcoat". Compare carefully as "PM / M6599" can also appear as "Bright Green Clearcoat", "Speed \u200b\u200bGreen Clearcoat", etc.
  • GM (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Geo, GMC, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn)... Has a rather convoluted coding system. For example, the color code 96 / WA8867 on your car might display as: 96U 96L 8867 WA8867 8867L 8867U. First of all, you need to check the glove compartment and the spare wheel compartment.

    The standard color code format is 51 / WA316N, which corresponds to "Gold Mist Metallic Clearcoat" and is usually preceded by BC / CC. Thus, the car color will be BC / CC 51 or BC / CC 316N. In addition, there are actually two or more codes in each color value. The value "51" can correspond to eighteen different codes, so you will have to use the value "316N" for accurate color matching. In addition, these codes may be preceded by the characters "U" or "L", which correspond to the upper and lower colors. Be careful as the code "316N" can also be called "Gold Clearcoat", "Inca Metallic Clearcoat", etc.
  • Find out the color number Hyundai relatively easy, as the codes are usually found on the driver's door jamb. Some models hide them in the engine compartment, so if they are not on the driver's door jamb, look there. The standard color code format is 3E, which corresponds to Blue Onyx Metallic Clearcoat. Later Hyundai models use a three-character code. 3Es can also be called "Blue Clearcoat", "Ocean Blue Clearcoat", etc. Always located in the driver's doorway. Standard color code format: AX6, which corresponds to the color "Redline Clearcoat". It can also be called "Red Clearcoat", "High Performance Clearcoat", etc.
  • Jaguar... Jaguar codes are usually found in the driver's doorway. Older Jaguar models can color code anywhere - under the hood, in the trunk, etc. Standard color code format: 1957 / HGZ - Racing Green Pearl, Racing Clearcoat, Green Performance Clearcoat, etc. ...
  • Kia... The codes are always on the driver's door jamb. The standard color code format is B3, which corresponds to the color "Mica Blue Metallic Clearcoat" or "Blue Clearcoat", "Light Mist Clearcoat", etc.
  • Land rover... On newer models, the codes are located on the driver's door jamb. In older ones - under the hood on the radiator support. Code format: LRC961 / HAF, which corresponds to the color "Epsom Green Clearcoat", or "Freen Clearcoat", "Light Mist Clearcoat".

In general, a 17-digit code can be a magic wand in the hands of a car buyer if he knows how to read it correctly. Codes can reveal a lot more facts from than a salesperson wants to tell. Having all the information about a car can help you in many ways. Perhaps you will negotiate a lower price, try to get some kind of bonus, or even decide not to buy a car because of its condition.

He probably does not think about how much the service for painting it costs. But in fact, this is important. Often, repainting a car is tantamount to paying half the cost again. To save money, the craftsmen offer to restore a separate part of the car, on which wear is detected. Due to the large number of colors and shades that are now used in the automotive industry, a standard numbered palette has been created. In most cases, the paint number for the car can be found here.

It should be borne in mind that each has its own palette. Very often, the colors and shades of domestic cars do not coincide with Western standards. Therefore, if you decide to paint over a scratch on your car yourself, you must first learn how to determine the number of the paint with which it is painted.

Believe me, this knowledge will not harm you, even if today your car has no problems with coverage. No one ever knows where he can, crumple or catch "rubble". There are many reasons why the top layer can be damaged, and they all depend only on chance.

How to determine the color number

There are several different ways to identify paint by numbers:

  1. When you have an authorized dealer in a serious car dealership, you will find the paint number on the car itself. Most often, a tag with its name and corresponding number is attached to the inside of the trunk or to the inside of the door. Check that this color is also recorded in the warranty card and registration certificate. If the data differs, then this method of determining the ink number is not suitable for you.
  2. Most car manufacturers indicate on their websites a palette of shades in which a car can be painted at a certain time of production. Thus, having found the month and year of manufacture of your car, you can find out by comparing with the standard samples presented on the official website. In addition, usually large companies worry about their customers and post a full range of colors on their interactive page. It is standard for almost everyone. The exception is made by such firms as, for example, "Chevrolet". Here they use codes that include three Latin letters. Their correspondence to the color palette is also published on the official website of the company.
  3. Despite all of the above, you doubt the correctness of your choice, justifying doubts about the possibility of inaccurate color reproduction by the monitor. Then you should contact a car service. Professionals will be able to identify the paint number of almost any car. To do this, they will need to bring a gas tank hatch. Large auto repair shops usually have a special catalog in which hundreds of different shades are numbered.

Remember that with a long-term presence of the car, it could change the color, or rather its saturation. Sometimes experts recommend painting over not only the scratch itself, but also the entire damaged part (door, trunk, fender). There are also cases when the paint color number is determined correctly, but the painted part is still very different from the color of the entire car. Unfortunately, in this case it is necessary to repaint the entire car.

The video shows how to find out the color of the car:

How to find the VIN number

Another way to find out the color of a car is. VIN-code is a seventeen-digit identification number, in which a large amount of information about a car is encrypted. Each number in it has its own meaning, for example: body type, engine, place of assembly, model number.

This code is found on a sticker located under the hood of the car near the engine. Sometimes it is also placed at the bottom of the door pillar. This number must be recorded and taken to the craftsmen at the car service. Paint by VIN-code is determined by a special program on the computer, which is entered.

In addition, you can determine the shade by the wine code from an authorized dealer of cars of this brand. After providing the number, after a while you will receive all the necessary information regarding your car and its color. Dealers can be contacted by phone, e-mail or in person, having come to the auto center office. The tone specified by the manufacturer can be safely transferred to the masters from the car service.

As you can see, when repairing a car, you will definitely need to find out the shade and paint number. Determining the color by eye means condemning your car in advance to re-painting. This, firstly, will hit your wallet, and, secondly, the repair will take additional time.
