Whose body is better than a prior or a grant. Lada Granta or Lada Priora - which is better? Exterior - exterior

17.12.2016

Lada Priora (2171) is one of the sales leaders among domestic cars. Not so long ago, this car replaced the tenth Vaz family on our roads. And although in essence the Priora is a restyled version of the "ten", but, nevertheless, it is a completely new car and, not only externally, but also technically. But, is it worth buying a used Lada Priora or is it better to prefer an older foreign car, we will try to answer this question today.

A bit of history:

The debut of Lada Priora on the domestic market took place in 2007, although the prototype was presented back in 2003 year. At first, the car was produced only in a sedan body, a little later, when the model began to gain popularity, the manufacturer began to produce a car in a body - a hatchback, a station wagon and even a coupe. The Priora was developed to replace the 10th Lada family, and unlike its predecessors, the novelty received completely new components and assemblies, which were manufactured using new technology. In 2008, he reworked the body, which significantly improved not only its rigidity, but also the passive safety of the car.

Problem places Lada Priora with mileage

The paintwork and anti-corrosion treatment of the body is not of the best quality, as a result, corrosion on the body of the car is quite common. Rust strikes most quickly: wheel arches (in the places where the wheel arch liners are attached), the inside of the front and rear doors, sills and the hood. Also, head light bulbs are not famous for their quality and reliability. It is not uncommon, after rain in the trunk in the niches under the headlights, you can find moisture, but, according to the manufacturer, this drawback does not require improvement, since there are plugs for draining water.

Engines

Lada Priora was equipped with only 1.6 petrol power units - index 21126 (98 hp) and 21127 (106 hp). Operating experience has shown that both types of engines are quite reliable and unpretentious in maintenance, but some shortcomings in them were nevertheless identified, the main of which are considered: loss of power and unstable engine operation. One of the weakest points of motors are the sensors, they can fail on any run, and believe me, they do it quite often. Another common problem is the failure of the throttle valve and burnout of the cylinder head gasket. Also, on some specimens, in severe frosts, it squeezes out the camshaft plugs, as a result of which oil flows out of the engine very quickly.

It happens that in the early stages of life the thermostat valve fails, therefore, do not forget to periodically glance at the engine temperature indicator. The ignition coils and the fuel pump are not famous for their durability. The timing drive is equipped with a belt, the manufacturer claims that its service lines are about 200,000 km, however, practice has shown that the reason for the meeting of valves and cylinders is jamming of the support or tension roller or pump failure. Therefore, it is recommended to change the rollers at least twice as often as prescribed in the regulations, and also periodically check the degree of tension and condition of the belt.

Transmission

Lada Priora was equipped with only a five-speed manual gearbox. This box is not a standard of quality and reliability, as a result, the transmission constantly requires refinement and adjustment. The main disadvantage of Priora, as in principle and other models produced by AvtoVAZ, is weak synchronizers. A signal about their wear and the need to replace them will soon serve as a crunch when changing gears. In this model, a reinforced clutch of the LUK company is installed, however, the problem of a rolling release bearing at idle speed occurs on every second machine. Also, many owners blame the constant noise in the box, which disappears only when the clutch is depressed. The manufacturer does not recognize this noise as a breakdown and calls it a "feature of the unit operation". In order to extend the lines of the transmission service, many servicemen recommend changing the oil in the box at least once every 75,000 km.

The reliability of the Lada Priora chassis

Owners of foreign cars like to tell stories about the Lada suspension, about how the car falls apart on the move. Perhaps these rumors were previously justified, but now we can say with confidence that the suspension is not much inferior to most budget foreign cars in terms of reliability. As in all modern cars, the Lada Priora has a MacPherson-type suspension in front, and a transverse beam in the back. Changing the shock absorber settings, redesigning the springs and strengthening the front stabilizer made the Priora's chassis more knocked down, and it also increased the life of many suspension parts.

Most often, bushings and stabilizer struts bother the owners, they have to be changed every 10-20 thousand km. Steering tips and hub bearings, on average, take care of 40-50 thousand km. Ball joints and shock absorber support bearings can withstand no more than 70,000 km. CV joints, silent blocks and shock absorbers have a sufficiently large margin of safety and, with careful operation, can travel up to 100,000 km. The quality of the original brake pads leaves much to be desired, therefore, it is better to replace them with better quality analogues. When diagnosing, pay attention to the behavior of the electric power steering, the fact is that on cars of the first years of production this unit may not work correctly, which can cause you to unexpectedly fly off the road. A signal about the presence of a malfunction of the amplifier will be: a heavy steering wheel and jerks when turning the steering wheel slowly. To fix the problem, it is necessary to clean or restore the wiring contacts of the unit.

Salon

Compared to previous AvtoVAZ models, Lada Priora looks more like a foreign car, but this is not the merit of a domestic manufacturer, for example, the dashboard design was borrowed from Ford Mondeo 3. But, unfortunately, the quality remained as before - at very low level. Everything is thundering in the salon, and the older the car gets, the more instruments this orchestra has. Pasting the joints of plastic elements with absorbing materials will help to partially eliminate creaks and mortars. Electrical equipment is not famous for its reliability either. Most often they fail: power windows, a stove fan, and all kinds of sensors often fail. Fortunately, no serious investment is required to eliminate any of the above problems.

Outcome:

Answering the question: "Is it worth buying a used Lada Priora?" Even after realizing that this car suffers from a large number of "sores" and shortcomings, it can still be recommended for purchase. It should be noted that for most of the above problems, treatment methods have long been invented and tested in practice. In addition, the cost of spare parts is much lower than that of most competitors, and if you have even the slightest idea about the structure of the car, you can perform simple repairs yourself.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you had to face during the operation of the car. Perhaps it is your feedback that will help the readers of our site when choosing a car.

Best regards, editors AutoAvenu

For those who are looking for an inexpensive and new car, AvtoVAZ's creations first come to mind. Although the domestic automobile concern is gradually switching to the production of more comfortable and expensive models that can compete with foreign cars, the choice of budget options is still wide. In principle, this is quite reasonable - the price for them is low, there are no problems with spare parts either, the technical characteristics are generally at the level, they do not sag too much in comparison with Chinese cars, or even surpass them.

However, there is often a dilemma between the two models. So which is better - Grant or Priora? This question also needs to be dealt with.

Prestige

Of course, it's a little strange to talk about this in the light of such a comparison, but it should be admitted that among young people (especially guys) Priora is quoted much higher than Grant. She even earned the status of a kind of "boy" car. Still, Lada Granta is focused primarily on the older generation, whose representatives do not pay much. This means that in this round, the victory remains with Priora.

Body range and dimensions

And in this respect, Granta is a clear favorite, because it can be chosen both as a sedan and as a liftback, while the Priora buyer will have to be content with an uncontested 5-door sedan.

If we compare the parameters of competitors, it is noticeable that the Priora surpasses its counterpart in length, but Granta wins back in width and height. The Priora has a longer wheelbase, however, the front and rear tracks are narrower, and the trunk is noticeably smaller. A clear comparison of the parameters is presented in the table:

Dimensions / Model Lada Priora (sedan) LADA Granta (sedan)
Length 4350 mm 4 260 mm
Height 1 420 mm 1,500 mm
Width 1,680 mm 1,700 mm
Wheelbase 2 492 mm 2,476 mm
Front wheel track 1,410 mm 1,430 mm
Rear wheel track 1 380 mm 1,414 mm
Clearance 165 mm 160 (145) mm
Trunk volume 430 l 520 l

We should also mention the ground clearance. At first glance, the cars are almost equal, because the difference is only 5 mm in favor of Priora. However, this is only true when comparing both rivals with manual transmissions and a robot. If Granta is equipped with a classic automatic transmission, then it sags noticeably, since its clearance is reduced to only 145 mm. In light of this, we can admit that in terms of size, there is a combat draw.

Exterior

Everything is subjective here. It is noticeable that Priora was created back in the first decade of the 21st century, when the Lancer IX, KIA Ceed and others were taken as an example. This left its mark.

Priora has a convex headlight optics, a massive sloping hood and an unpretentious bumper. In addition, the front end is decorated with tiny round foglights and a trapezoidal grille with chrome edging.

In profile, large doors and long body overhangs are immediately noticeable, and the glazing area is impressive. In addition, a long stamping line crosses the entire sidewall. But there are no plastic moldings. The stern is not bad - a smooth bumper, high feet, a massive trunk lid with a shiny lining. Not too bland, but there is nothing flashy either.

Lada Granta is made in a more modern style, but her appearance is frankly boring. It is noticeable that the designers set themselves the goal of creating a kind of "universal" model. At the front, it is distinguished by large headlights, a radiator grille and an air intake, which, in fact, occupy the entire front view. And the composition is completed by a large hood and round foglights.

On the side, there are similar overhangs of the body, as well as plastic door trims, painted black. And the side windows are no less than those of the Priora. At the back, a huge trunk lid with a pair of "claw-like" undershapes catches the eye. And the fact that the license plate is installed in the rear bumper only enhances the impression.

Specifications

Engines

Lada Priora boasts a pair of engines, while its counterpart has 3 engines. In many ways, these power units are similar - they have an atmospheric design, an injector, an in-line arrangement of 4 cylinders and a transverse arrangement in the engine compartment.

For Priora and Granta, the list opens with an 8-valve gasoline engine with a volume of 1.6 liters. Power is frankly small and amounts to 87 liters. sec., which are reached at around 5,100 revolutions. However, a good torque helps out, which is not only 140 Nm, but is already available at 3,800 rpm. The consumption of the models is identical and quite acceptable - 9.0 / 7.0 / 5.8 l. With such characteristics, the Priora accelerates to a hundred in quite decent 12.5 seconds, giving out a maximum of 176 km / h. Maximum speed Grants are noticeably less (167 km / h), but the dynamics are slightly better - 12.2 sec.

There is one more common motor. It has already become a 16-valve engine, also with a volume of 1.6 liters. Its power is noticeably higher and reaches 106 horses at 5,800 rpm, but the thrust has increased slightly, stopping at around 148 "newtons" at 4,200 rpm. The fuel consumption is almost the same. For Priora, it is 8.9 / 6.8 / 5.6, while for Grants - 8.6 / 6.7 / 5.6. Regarding the dynamics, the Priora exchanges a hundred in 11.5 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 183 km / h. Results Grants - 10.9 sec. and 183 km / h. However, this is true for versions with manual transmission5. With AMT5, Granta performance is worse - 12.3 sec. and 180 km / h, supplemented by an appetite of 9.0 / 6.6 / 5.2 liters.

But the round is up to Grant, as she has one more unit in the store - a 1.6-liter, 98-horsepower 16-valve. Its peak recoil is at 5,600 rpm, and the maximum torque of 145 Nm is achievable at 4,000 rpm. However, due to aggregation exclusively with AT4, the results are average - 13.3 sec. up to a hundred, a maximum speed of 173 km / h and an appetite of 9.9 / 7.6 / 6.1 liters.

Gear boxes

Here is a complete victory for Grants. After all, Priora can only offer a 5-speed "mechanics", which is also available in the competitor. Overall, the box is not bad. However, while driving, many people note discomfort - the lever vibrates, the gears do not always turn on clearly, to the extent that their gearshift knob has to be literally driven into the groove. Yes, and departures of speeds sometimes happen.

Nevertheless, in addition to the "handle", LADA Granta also has a classic 4-band from JATCO (model JF414E) for a 98-horsepower engine, and also a 5-speed domestic-made AMT 2182 robot. Of course, with such transmissions, the dynamics are a little worse, and the consumption is higher, however, these gearboxes are quite at the level of competitors that are sold at about the same price, and most importantly, they make it possible to forget about constant switching, which is more than important in megacities.

Chassis

The layout of the undercarriage is the same for the models. This is a standard, as for such a segment, semi-independent scheme, with a torsion beam on the rear axle and MacPherson struts on the front. disc in front, and drum back. Of course, the suspension of both models cannot be called driver's, but its energy intensity is at a height, which, coupled with good ground clearance (like some crossovers), makes both cars ideal for country (and not only) roads.

Interior

Of course, interior design is a subjective matter, but most are in favor of Priora. After the restyling, the sedan's interior freshened up noticeably. It is made in a classic style with a touch of sportiness.

A sweeping 3-spoke steering wheel rises in front of the driver, behind which is an elegant dashboard with convenient dials recessed into small wells. All the options control keys are concentrated on the rectangular center console, although they are frankly low, especially the disc temperature and air flow controls. However, this is a consequence of the large display and air vents, which took up almost half of the entire space. The entire dashboard is made of solid dark plastic.

The seats are not bad, but they clearly lack lateral support, which makes it difficult to control the car in tight corners. Visibility is on par, although wide A-pillars limit the sector. There is ample space behind, and the trunk is not the smallest.

Things are a little different in Grant. The dashboard is perfectly readable, but it looks much simpler, and the center console rounded at the bottom is not so elegant, and at the top of the dashboard, like rocket nozzles, round air deflectors are placed. On the other hand, the ergonomics on it are thought out better and the lower controls are not blocked by the gearshift lever, as in the Prior. Roomy recess above the glove compartment. The steering wheel is almost the same as that of the Priora, and the black finishing plastic too.

With visibility, things are about the same as with the seats. The rear is quite comfortable, but the Granta trunk is significantly larger - by 90 liters.

Equipment

The configurations of the models are approximately the same. The only difference is that in the basic configuration of the Standard, Grants have only one airbag, EBD, ABS and BAS systems, DRL, and audio preparation. The Priora in the Standard version additionally has an eyeglass case, an on-board computer, an armrest, an electric power steering and handles painted in body color. And the price is almost the same - the Grant costs 383,900 rubles, and the Prior is given for 389,000 rubles. Such equipment as Priora (slightly better) in Grant can only be obtained in the Normal / Classic version, which is 419 600 rubles.

As the cost rises, technical indicators increase, and the equipment becomes richer - air conditioning, heated seats, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, an armrest in the rear sofa and other options appear.

In the top, the price for Priora reaches 491,000 rubles, while for Grants it is 541,400 rubles. However, the difference of 50,000 rubles, taking into account approximately the same technical data, is quite justified, since LADA Granta has a multimedia complex completely inaccessible to a competitor with a 7-inch display such as TouchScreen, Bluetooth, parking sensors, an airbag for a passenger, light and rain sensors and other options.

As you can see, the choice between Lada Priora and Lada Granta is not so simple, but also not too difficult. Given the almost identical characteristics of the motors (except for the 98-horsepower), there remains only the question of the transmission, since fans of automatic machines will have to choose only Grant. Its price is slightly higher, however, given the presence of an automatic transmission, a robot and more generous equipment, the difference is quite justified.

If you pay close attention to what kind of cars that drive on our roads, then you will notice that most of them are Lada Granta or Priora (except for Moscow, of course). These cars differ in both price and appearance and each has its own pros and cons. The purpose of today's article is to help the buyer choose between them and answer the question "which is better, a grant or a prior?"

The outdated Lada Kalina became the prototype for this car. The new car received a soundproofed engine, as well as a more modern design that meets all European standards. Among other things, the grant contains a fairly roomy trunk, the volume of which reaches 500 liters. Nevertheless, if you fold the rear sofa on the Prior, you can get not 400, but 700 liters, but already with damage to the rear passengers.

This car is most suitable for middle-aged people or retirees, as it cannot boast of impressive speed characteristics. In addition, among the drivers, there were complaints about too sensitive control, which takes a long time to get used to.

However, Granta can also be equipped with a 16-valve engine, which is so famous among motorists. Such equipment is much more expensive, and is also inconvenient to operate, since the volume of the engine compartment of this car is very small.

Priora is a continuation of the VAZ 2110 car, and, accordingly, was created entirely on its basis. Naturally, the car inherited many qualities from its predecessor. The Priora has good handling and a powerful enough motor that allows her to behave well on the track.

Among the shortcomings of the car, one can note a very poor cross-country ability and, like the tenth model, a very dubious build quality. Priora is in good demand among young people.

Design

Perhaps, in appearance, Grant wins, which has more modern body features and makes this VAZ model revolutionary, which brings it to the same level with all foreign cars. Priora, on the other hand, does not have the necessary streamlining and has the same primitive design. Although if we are talking about a new Prior, then we can argue, since it received a new front end. In general, this, of course, is a matter of taste.

Judging by the convenience, then the grant also wins, since it has smaller dimensions, which is convenient in tight urban conditions.

If we talk about the modernity of the cabin, then the Prior is much more familiar to most Russian drivers, as it has much more space and the same familiar torpedo with the necessary functionality. Granta has been collected with an emphasis on European design, as evidenced by the special shape of the dashboard and other instrument ergonomics. In addition, the grants salon has been developed much more competently in terms of the appearance of "extraneous" sounds.

Power point

Granta is more suitable for city driving, since its fuel consumption on the highway is noticeably higher... This is an interesting and inexplicable feature, since the engines of these cars are exactly the same. Priora wins on the track, both in terms of dynamic performance and consumption.

The Grants gearbox is far superior to its competitor, as it uses short-stroke wings, which reduce the likelihood of crunching and reduce gearshift times. In addition, there is a package in which it is equipped with an automatic transmission, which the Lada Priora obviously cannot boast of.

Lada Granta is equipped with a more modern suspension, which makes the car much softer and more comfortable, but the principle of its action remains the same.

As you already understood, Granta has much more advantages than Priora. However, in this case, the "novelty" of the VAZ may come as a surprise, since all of its factory defects have not yet been discovered, and the Priora has become time-tested, which makes it much predictable.

We hope that this article will help you make the right choice and you can easily determine which is better, a grant or a prior.

Every person at least once in his life was faced with a choice - which car to take: domestic or foreign, used or new ... If you select from the options available at cost, then the Russian auto industry will come to the rescue, which also gives reasons for thinking about the choice ... In addition, favorable prices will be taken into account in the future - regarding maintenance, repair and replacement of parts.

Just recently, the leading manufacturer AVTOVAZ has improved most of the models, and also released new ones, which are becoming more and more popular every day. To help buyers with a choice, I decided to discuss what is better: Lada Granta or Lada Priora. According to the latest statistics, these are the best-selling cars of this company. These models differ from the well-known Lada Kalina and from each other, so let's see what exactly.

Let's start by looking at external data. The Priora has a traditional body shape similar to the previous version. After restyling in 2014, it acquired improved headlights, bumper and rear dimensions.

Granta has now acquired youth stylish forms that resemble a foreign car. The running lights, bumpers and headlights have been improved. In this category, you can give her preference.

Interior - salon overview

If we take Priora as an example, then the interior in it has changed for the better. The salon used modern soft-look materials.

Whereas Granta has a cheap-looking plastic dashboard. But it has a more spacious interior.

Price and quality

In this comparison, which is better than the Priora or Grant, the liftback wins the second option, since today the new Priora without additions is like the Granta in the luxury configuration. This difference in price has been achieved thanks to a new design that uses fewer small parts. This is what contributed to the reduction of noise.

Priora has two configurations for all models: Norma and Lux. Grants also have a third - Standard, which is the cheapest. At the same time, the inexpensive configurations of the first model are better equipped than the second. But their cost is much higher. But there are practically no differences between expensive configurations. They include:

  • front airbags;
  • electric power steering;
  • multimedia system with on-board computer;
  • heated seats, etc.

Specifications

This criterion worries domestic motorists most of all, therefore, we will analyze in detail all the available parameters.

Headlights

If you choose from cars, which is better - Grant or Priora regarding light, then opinions are divided. Granta wins in the low beam category, and in the Priore a good high beam. It also has an advantage in the structure of the headlight - lamps for different lights are installed separately, so this makes it easier and cheaper to replace in the future. The full description looks like this.

  • DRL / HE P21 / 5W 12V / 21W / 5W.
  • Low and high beam H4 12V / 60W / 55W.

Lada Granta:

  • Low beam (H7).
  • Far (H1).
  • Turn signal lamp PY21W 12V / 21W.

Clearance

For both brands of cars, regardless of the body - liftback, sedan, sport or hatchback - the ground clearance is the same - 16 cm.

Trunk

What Grant is better than the Priora is the volume of the trunk.

In the first case, it is equal to 520 liters, in the second - 430. But if you fold the rear sofa, then this figure increases to 700.

Suspension

If you are thinking about what is better to buy - Priora or Grant, then opinions on this characteristic are also divided. The first model is bought because of its good handling. Due to the increased travel of the steering rack, it becomes more "obedient". In the sport version, the suspension has been significantly improved. The second option is taken by those who value comfort. Grants have fewer turns from lock to lock, in comparison with Priora - 3.1 versus 4.1. It also has more roll in corners and is perfect for older drivers. Accelerating more than 120 km / h, it will not feel very good. Although this is the last, therefore more modern development of the creators.

Engines

If we compare which is better - Grant or Prior relative to the engines, then in reality they are almost the same. But my personal opinion is that the 16-valve Granta is faster than the opponent (especially in the "sport" version - this was also proven on test drives).

In the Priora model range there are only two positions - 98 and 106 hp, while in the Grant two more - 82 and 87 hp are added. In addition, they are equipped with a noise insulation system.

The fuel consumption declared by the plant also does not differ much - about 9-10 liters in the city, and six on the highway.

Transmission

Choosing from two - Grant or Priora - which is better, the first option wins with respect to this characteristic. I declare with confidence that the new cable checkpoint outperforms the old prior's one.

This is a modernized version of the gearbox with the VAZ-2108, which, albeit noisy, but at the same time gives clear work of the wings. Transmissions can be turned on literally with your little finger. In Prior, there is a mechanic, and in Granta, there is a choice - mechanical, robot and automatic.

The opinion of LADAVODS

It was also interesting to get acquainted with the personal experience and reviews of car owners in different bodies - hatchback, liftback, sedan or sport - regarding which car is better: Priora or Grant. Here opinions are divided. Many, having bought Grant, claim that it is of better quality. With it, you need to go to the service of relatively minor breakdowns much less often (according to some users). The good news is that the car came to MOT, and not attracted. Most often, malfunctions of small units occur: a stove, a generator, a window, etc. Grants' price is lower, the exterior suits many. The only thing is the brakes. Even in the service, this is already considered normal, since it is observed in almost every model.

Regarding which is better - Priora or Grant, the reviews were different. Many people say well that the Granta has more room, especially for the legs. It is roomy, comfortable to fit and pleases with a large trunk. This is especially true for those who need it for work, and in everyday life too. Grants have a rich set, plus a new platform. There are large doors, like in Kalina station wagon or hatchback (video is presented below).

Others like the Priora better - the package and the engine power. Her fans tend to believe that Granta has more visits to the service. But many consider the Priora to be overpriced as expected. Although it is simply dictated by modern realities. Foreign cars have also risen, like everything else in this world. The restyled versions have already acquired all the necessary elements - a short steering rack, cable wings and others, which are so much praised in Grant.

Also, many prefer the appearance of the Priora, while the second Lada does not like the shape of the stern, especially in the bodies of the liftback, hatchback and sedan. Priora looks more modern, so it can be called a youth version. Convenient for both driver and passengers.

My opinion

I myself have been the owner of the Priora for two years. In two years, I skated over 30,000 km with a new car. During this period, there were a lot of minor breakdowns, but for all the time it never got in the way. The battery sat down once, through my fault - it did not extinguish the ceiling lamp.

Based on experience, I can answer the question which car is better - Lada Granta or Priora. When purchasing, I leaned towards the second option, because of the higher cost. Plus, it is positioned as the flagship of the domestic automotive industry. There is little space in it, but it can be safely called a B-class.

Initially, the goal of improving the version of the 10th family was invested in the creation of Priora. And Grant is a cheaper version of Kalina, which replaced the Zhiguli. This is a simple budget car, improved for modern roads.

From all of the above, we can conclude that a VAZ-made car is like a lottery. Each model may have a good or problematic option. Priora is a model that has been proven for decades, and Granta is a more modern car, assembled using new technologies. And, seriously judging by the technical characteristics, in terms of the latest versions, in many criteria, Grant surpasses the Priora, and in cost, including that for some today it is one of the main selection criteria.

Recently, more and more car owners prefer Lada cars. This concern occupies the leading positions in sales. Moreover, those who plan to purchase a domestic car for a long time cannot opt \u200b\u200bfor a particular model. Priora or Grant, what should you buy?

It is difficult to answer this question unequivocally, even though these two "offspring" of the Lada are in different price categories, but they have a lot in common and characteristics, and this makes the choice even more difficult.

Many are surprised what caused such a love for the Russian car industry. But here everything is just simple, this is due to the low price of "iron horses" and the available components for them. More and more people prefer to own a new car, albeit of domestic production, than a used foreign car. Why this happens is not difficult to explain. It's hard to buy good quality. Basically, all cars are repaired after severe accidents, and no one is reluctant to take a pig in a poke.

But how to identify the winner in the battle of Priora vs Grant? To do this, you need to make a comparative analysis of cars for all positions, this approach will help you decide when buying.

Granta vs. Priora: comparing the exterior and interior

The first thing we pay attention to before buying a car is its external and internal appearance. And if, for example, we compare the model with imported vehicles, then the interior and exterior of domestic cars will dramatically lose, look poorer and more boring.

If we abstract from foreign cars and talk about each car specifically, then Granta has a more modern body and attractive design than its competitor Lada Priora. Moreover, the Priora in the basic configuration is much more expensive than its rival. Therefore, in the struggle of Priora against Grants in terms of appearance and interior design, the second wins. And one more plus in favor of Grants - in 2014, the car began to be produced in the body of a liftback (before that there was only a sedan). This version of the car looks very presentable and modern. If you do not see the Lada nameplate, then the Grant liftback may well pass for a "foreigner". Priora is available in sedan, station wagon and hatchback bodies, but the cars do not look as impressive as Granta liftback.

The appearance of the body is the first thing that the buyer pays attention to.

In 2014, Lada Priora has undergone a restyling. True, the body has not changed radically. Lada Priora 2014 differs from the previous version with an updated bumper, a radiator grill and modified headlights. Also, the car was supplemented with new LED brake lights and rear dimensions.

But inside the Lada Priora 2014 has changed dramatically. The front panel attracts with an updated design, and in the expensive Priora trim levels you can observe the cruise control and the modern one.

The backrest tilt mechanism in the Lada Priora 2014 has also been improved, it now functions smoothly and clearly, like in Grant. The Priora seat heating system has become three-mode. Plastic pads appeared under the chairs, covering the free space. In general, the inside of Priora has changed a lot, outside - so-so. And then it's up to you to decide whether you agree to overpay a very decent amount for the interior decoration of the salon.

Compare technical specifications

In addition to attractive looks and inexpensive prices, each car owner pays attention to different engine characteristics. If we go back to the confrontation between Grant and Priora, then both cars are equipped with almost identical engines. The difference will vary slightly depending on the trim selected. According to experts, Granta's gearbox is better than her competitor Priora. Granta is currently being produced with an updated manual transmission, which is many times better than the previous one. Switching speeds is now much more convenient, and the vibration that was present before has disappeared.

The amount of gasoline that one and the other car consumes with the same technical characteristics does not differ much. Since 2014, the Priora has been produced with a robotic gearbox, like Granta. True, the cost of Priora with such a box will be about 500 thousand rubles, but this is not the point now.

The quality of the suspension Grand and the updated Priora are almost equal

Both "offspring" of the Lada concern can boast of a reliable suspension. And if at first in the duel between the cars in driving performance she clearly won Grant, then after 2014, when the Priora underwent a number of changes, they were practically equal.

But, to the sadness of many car owners, all the changes that happened to the Priora in 2014 did not add power to the car, this car is not for the race. Its potential power is 98 and 106 hp. but Granta has a sport modification, and she already has 118 "horses" under the hood. Someone will say that this is also not enough, but the reviews of the owners say otherwise. The machine with a sports filling is very playful.

Lada Granta or Priora: equipment and price

Of course, everyone wants to have a reliable and modern car equipped with a powerful engine, but one should not forget about the cost of the car. So, the cheapest Priora model in the basic configuration, regardless of the body, will cost about the same as (liftback) in the luxury configuration. Of course, not in the most equipped one, but still a suite.

To make it easier to decide whether Priora or Lada Granta, we will consider each car separately. So, Priora - this model is very ergonomic and can get a solid four on a five-point scale. The car enjoys great love among the younger generation, who are happy to tune Priora, remaking it "for themselves".

The production of this vehicle began in 2007, in 2014 a restyling was carried out, which, as already mentioned, did not really change the appearance, but added in the technical characteristics and in the interior. The most important revision in Priore 2014 is the racks, which in the previous version simply fell apart. This was a huge disadvantage of the car. In general, the model is very good and is in good demand among buyers. The vehicle is presented in two trim levels: standard and luxury, which differ in the presence of additional functions.

Lada Grantu began to be produced in 2011. She immediately attracted many buyers with an attractive design and low price. The car is equipped with a fairly quiet engine and a modern noise insulation system. The salon is not particularly chic, but it is quite comfortable when driving. The model came off the assembly line in 2011; in 2014, in addition to the sedan, a liftback was also released. Grant is available in three trim levels: standard, norm and luxury. The cheapest and "empty" car will cost the buyer a little more than 300 thousand rubles.

If we talk about safety, then Granta coped well with the European crash tests. Of course, the car has its drawbacks, but in general this model can be called successful. And if we compare the very first cars of this model and those that began to leave the assembly line in 2014 after a minor restyling, then the quality has increased markedly.

So which car is better

The differences between the cars are insignificant and the Grant win is more likely associated with the year of its release

Of course, everyone chooses a car to their taste and pocket. But considering all the characteristics described above, Granta wins a few points from Priora, if only because the former is more modern than its competitor. Even the fact that the Priora was updated in 2014 doesn't really save her. By the way, there is information that 2015 is the last year, when Priora is released, it should be replaced by a completely new model.

In addition to the appearance and technical characteristics, Grant is cheaper than its competitors. This is also due to the fact that fewer parts are used during its assembly.

But Priora also has undeniable advantages. This machine has shown itself to be excellent in operation. Problems and "sores" of the model have long been known, there is no need to expect any surprises when purchasing it. Granta, although not as "raw" as a couple of years ago, can still unpleasantly surprise its owner.

Therefore, it is the buyer's prerogative to decide which is better - Grant or Priora. Weigh all the pros and cons of each model, sit in them, estimate the volume of the trunk, interior, technical characteristics. If you listen to the opinion of experts, then there is no significant difference between the two vehicles. When choosing, rely on the available tools and your own preferences. Happy choice!
