Comparison of Renault Kaptur with competitors. Can't decide what to buy: Renault Captur or Hyundai Greta? Comparison of the car Hyundai Greta with Renault Kaptur

So, you are the lucky owner of 1 million rubles. and you have a task to buy yourself a good car. It is desirable that it be a SUV and a compact urban crossover that includes comfort, quality and confidence on the road. The best options in this case are Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Creta. But what to choose for yourself in this price range? Renault Kaptur is a French crossover, Hyundai Creta is its Korean competitor. Both cars are undoubtedly considered bestsellers, so before making a decisive choice and getting the coveted keys, you need to compare the main characteristics of these vehicles.

For beautiful eyes

Many readers may immediately ask the question: "Is it really a choice between them?" As practice shows, yes. This is confirmed by the fact that when our specialists were going on a comparative test drive, they were stopped by a security guard of the travel company and asked what kind of Renault model it was. This is surprising, because it remains a mystery how a stern man with brutal inclinations fell in love with this big-eyed "Frenchman" with a bizarrely shaped sides.

Objectively, the most successful part of the Renault Kaptur (Kaptur) body is the rear one, but the profile disappointed, since the car seems too elongated. As shown by a comparative test drive, the Captur is indeed 63 mm longer than the Cret. But the Korean crossover cannot boast of spectacular forms, as it looks very modest and conservative. But it cannot be said that it does not attract attention in a scattering of intense traffic.

Regardless of what you choose - kaptur or creta, you can count on LED optics and 17-inch wheels in the top configuration. Therefore, we could not give preference to one of the SUVs in this aspect. Even a survey did not help solve this problem: older motorists sympathize with Cret, and young people are more drawn to Kaptur.

Appearance of Kaptur or Creta

We are all adherents of one or another taste. Therefore, what one person likes may not always be pleasant to another. Despite the fact that both Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur are two SUVs and city SUVs, they still differ greatly in their external characteristics. Therefore, first of all, choose with your eyes, because every day you will get into this car, so it is very important that it is attractive to you.

If we talk about Renault Kaptur, then it is the owner of a fashionable and bright appearance. The designers managed to keep its striking style, but at the same time, they added some off-road paraphernalia to make the image of this car a little more aggressive.

The car looks like a family transport, so it is perfect if you intend to take your kids to school on it, or just like streamlined shapes. The Kaptur is very practical in its looks, largely because it is framed by a plastic body kit.

Also, the popular 17-inch wheels, which have high-profile rubber, are sure to catch your eye.

As for the Hyundai Creta, its appearance can be said to be very aggressive. It has very regular shapes and in many ways even resembles the Volkswagen Tiguan. However, the proportions of the body are observed in the opposite direction. So, the hood of this model is very powerful, aggressive and heavy. However, such a machine is very popular with men and women who love passion, speed and power.

The Creta is very similar to the ix 25, which was sold back in 2014 in China and was very popular. Therefore, in this model, they decided to leave the wavy lines, as well as the edges on the body.

Salon: build quality

If everything is clear with the appearance, then more questions arise about the interior of these vehicles. After all, each manufacturer has tried to make it as comfortable as possible for potential customers.

Let's take a look at the Renault Kaptur salon. The dimensions of this car are 4334 by 1814 by 1614 mm. The wheelbase is 2647 mm.

As for the Hyundai Creta, its parameters are somewhat more modest and amount to 4271 by 1781 by 1631 mm, and the condition between the axles is 2591 mm. And this means that Renault Kaptur is a couple of centimeters, but still somewhat longer, wider, and at the same time slightly higher than the Korean competitor.

Indeed, in the Kaptur cabin, it is not much, but still noticeably more comfortable than in the Creta cabin. Although, many noted that if you sit in the back seat, then the seats in these salons are about the same. As for Hyundai, it is even slightly ahead of its French opponent in its trunk. So, in the Creta there are 402 liters of trunk, but in the Kaptur e 387.

As for the finishing of these models, here it should be noted the very hard plastic, which is present in every car interior. But nothing can be changed here, since both vehicles are budgetary. However, experts note that the Hyundai Creta interior looks much more comfortable and even somewhat more expensive. The Koreans have tried to create ergonomics inside the cabin, making it more stylish.

The Renault Kaptur is not so stylish and showy, however, it has a lot of design features and inserts that make the interior look attractive.

As for the comfort when the driver is in front of the steering wheel, here the Korean has won the same championship. The fact is that the steering wheel of this car is adjusted in two planes at once, while Renault Kaptur offers adjustment only in height.

Also, while in a Hyundai Creta car, you reach the front seat heating buttons with your hand, as they are located right on the center tunnel. But at Renault Kaptur these buttons are located right in the blind zone, which will be very problematic to reach.

The Creta has a three-stage seat heating, while the Capture, on the other hand, has a single-stage seat, and there is also no indicator button.

Each of the cars has a heated windshield. However, the rear seat heating function is only available in the Hyundai Creta and in almost the maximum configuration.

Also, in terms of seat comfort, the Hyundai Creta has a lot more seat adjustments than the Renault Kaptur.

Also, the wide armrest is striking, which is located under the right hand of the Creta driver. At Renault Kaptur, this armrest is very narrow and not always comfortable.

Driver and passenger safety

Both the one and the other crossover are equipped with built-in electronic safety systems, including ABS, ESP. Also, there are two airbags in the cabin of these cars. There are belt pretensioners that are height adjustable. For children, an isofix mount is provided in the rear seat, which allows the child seat to be firmly fixed.

Now, let's look at the differences between these two models.

Renault Kaptur has a built-in Era-Glonass system, which is a paid option when purchasing and is 12,000 rubles. Renault Kaptur also has a Global Access platform that is synchronized with the Era-Glonass module.

Hyundai also has access to GLONASS, but only as standard. Also, despite the fact that the cabin is designed for five passengers, there are only four head restraints. Hyundai has a monitoring system that allows you to track tire pressure, which is very convenient.

As for the running lights on the Creta, they run on conventional incandescent bulbs.

In Capture, the light is not very practical at the very bottom and comes out of the bumper.

In terms of safety, the Hyundai Creta leads the way over the Renault Kaptur.

Market success

If we compare the market success of crossovers, then the clear favorite here is the Hyundai Creta. In the first 5 months of sales, 18 thousand cars were sold, which allowed the crossover to get into the TOP in sales. Due to the fact that Kaptur costs a little more, he could not boast of such sales dynamics. But, it should be noted right away that the most demanded modification of the "Frenchman" with a variator did not enter the market right away. But still, it is hard to believe that Kaptur will overtake Kreta in terms of sales, since the Korean did not leave even the legendary Duster a chance.

Dimensions and clearance

As mentioned above, Renault Capture has a wider wheelbase, and in general, it is several centimeters longer than its Korean opponent. However, there is no extra extra centimeters inside the cabin.

As for the size of the fuel tanks, the Creta has 55 liters, and the Renault Captur has 52 liters.

As for refueling, Cretu is allowed to refuel with the ninety-second gasoline, when a more expensive fuel is recommended to the Frenchman.

As for the operation on the road, here the French Renault Kaptur won the palm. The Kaptur has the advantage of giving it an extra 14mm of ground clearance. Also, Renault Kaptur has a protected space under the bottom, which is a steel protection.

Also, fuel hoses with a tank have better protection.

What are they - Motors

Hyundai Creta is equipped with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine as standard. At the same time, she has 123 horsepower. There is also an option with a two-liter petrol engine with 150 horsepower.

The motor produces torque at approximately 6300 rpm.

Acceleration to hundreds with such indicators occurs in just 12 seconds. And the maximum speed is 170 km / h. If you use the combined cycle, the fuel consumption is approximately 7 liters.

As for the two-liter engine, in the combined mode, the consumption will already be 6 liters, acceleration to hundreds will occur in just 10 seconds.

As for the Renault Kaptur, it is also equipped with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine in its basic standard configuration. At the same time, at 115 horsepower.

Acceleration to 100 km / h in 12 seconds. Fuel consumption in combined mode is 7.5 liters per 100 km.

In a comfortable configuration, you will be offered a two-liter petrol engine with 145 horsepower. Acceleration to hundreds will occur in 10 seconds, while the maximum speed mark will reach 185 km / h.

Automatic box

Both Renault kaptur and Hyundai Creta are equipped with an automatic transmission and even as standard. However, there is a significant difference between the two. For example, the Renault Kaptur will be available for purchase in one of three gearbox variants to choose from. It can be automatic, 5 or 6 speed, or mechanical. It is also equipped with a four-band automatic machine.

Creta is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Suspension

There is an opinion that the Creta suspension is designed for a flat track on asphalt, but the Kaptur can easily drive on a dirt road. Although, in fact, if we consider the suspension, then there are practically no significant differences between these two cars.

If we take Creta, then on the Anar asphalt the street is much sharper.

However, given its stiff suspension, it will be very difficult for it to drive on a dirt road, it falls on its side, especially since it has a small clearance, which means it can easily damage the bottom.

Creta is much better in terms of stability, but only in asphalt conditions. The Kaptur loses to its competitor on a flat track, but the comma perfectly holds back shocks while driving on a dirt road and has a high ground clearance. However, the Renault Kaptur slips heavily to the side when cornering.

As a plus of Capture, you can notice not only increased ground clearance, but also steel protection, which allows you to ensure the safety of the fuel pipes.

Also, Cretu can be additionally equipped with protective scaffolding, however, it will be very expensive. The Kaptur has a much longer suspension travel itself, which will be very helpful if the road has large holes or a dirt road.

However, the Creta's suspension behaves better when descending hills.

Battle of the automata

As a transmission, the Kaptur is already using a traditional four-speed automatic, which became the main reason for the slow start of the "Frenchman". The main drawback of this box is that it cannot boast of smooth operation and twitches a little. It is good that the manufacturers thought about acoustics, since the transmission works almost silently.

Equipment Active for Creta, the cost is 900,000 rubles, at the moment when for a Frenchman it is 1,100.00 rubles. The difference is insignificant, but again, in its own way, the Kaptur bypasses Cretu, since it already has cruise control, a navigation system, and additional side airbags. In addition, the Frenchman already has a winter package. But Hyundai Creta is offered to buy the Winter package, which includes heated steering wheel and rear seats for 25,000 rubles, as well as other packages that, in principle, equalize the cost of two cars and their functional attractiveness.

This article will describe the comparison between Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Creta cars. The cost of such machines is about a million rubles, they are equipped with 1.6 liter engines and a manual transmission. As for other indicators, there are a lot of differences and what is better, this will be discussed later.

Renault Kaptur or Hyundai Creta which is better?

If Creta is a world car, only adapted for production in Russia, then Kaptur is considered to be ours. Renault claims that demand for their cars has exceeded expectations, so the plant in Moscow is increasing production of cars.

The basic equipment of the Creta looks poorer than the Captur, namely, no:

  • cruise control;
  • remote engine start;
  • rain sensor;
  • navigation;
  • lED fog lights, etc.

As for the Captur, its mournful leaf is even greater, in the maximum configuration it is devoid of rear disc brakes, heated steering wheel / rear seat, roof rails, and an assistance system during descent from the mountain.

Compared to the Captur, the Creta has a more powerful engine, which is mated exclusively with all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic, while the Captur is available only with a “mechanic”.

Creta seems boring and small, with no embellishments or chrome. Although her image is harmonious in its own way. Smooth body gaps and many other "nishtyaks", for example, lenticular headlights are available only in the top version, which has the most expensive options.

In other trim levels, daytime running lights look primitive, there are no turn signals in the mirrors yet.

The base Kaptur looks like a dude next to Creta, especially with 17-inch wheels added to it. The high chair Kaptyur is comfortable enough. As for the upholstery, it is more hygienic than the Korean one.

A slight discomfort can only be caused by the protruding headrest. The rear sofa is quite spacious, and the rear windows do not fully extend.

Comfort

In the salon of Crete, complete order, if you do not take into account the presence of plastic in everything. Visually, it seems that there are more options and keys than in Renault, although in reality it only seems so, because Koreans know how to show off the dust.

Clear and simple instruments are perfectly readable by Crete, there is still an opportunity to display the speedometer readings on the central display. The speed is displayed only in numbers, and the sophisticated design of the shield does not interfere with perception.

You can distinguish a large range of steering wheel adjustment, a comfortable hard seat and a monochrome animated display.

In Kaptur, after Crete, you climb into an SUV: a thick steering wheel, a soft and high seat, the same gear changes. The mirrors are small and there is little information on the instrument panel. The on-board computer is displayed in only 2 lines. In the parking lot, the steering wheel turns hard, especially for girls. The disadvantages include excessive noise and vibration when driving.

Riding feel and handling

The Creta takes corners with ease, but tasteless and slow. Fuel consumption is approximately 8.5 liters per 100 km in mixed mode. In Hyundai, the 6-speed manual surpasses the renowned 5-speed mortar in terms of gear ratio and ease of shifting.

An anti-rollback system is available on both machines. Crete has the ability to check the tire pressure while driving. Whereas in Capture there is a speed limiter and cruise control. It is quite difficult to find a common language with the steering in bends.

Reactive performance is excellent, understeer is almost imperceptible, and if you drop the throttle sharply, you can feel a hint of skid.

When driving on the highway to Kaptur, the noise is not much higher. 6th gear is missing. At a speed of 80-90 km / h in both crossovers, the wind is confusing in the eyes. Harsh braking at high speed on Captura is more unnerving. If we compare directional stability, then Crete has it better. When entering a turn, the Kaptur leans better on the rear axle, which adds rally lines to the driving character.

It is quite difficult to single out a favorite in terms of the driving qualities of 2 cars. For example, the Kaptur is larger, but lighter behind the Cretu. According to the declared dynamics (12.3 s to 100 km / h), the cars are close and accelerate almost the same.

As for cross-country ability, Hyundai loses in off-road performance (18 cm of ground clearance under plastic protection). Suspension travel is less when comparing Renault Kaptur and Hyundai Creta. Mismatched throttle and clutch actuators can adversely affect driving in traffic jams and on slippery roads.

Crete's advantages include an assistant during descent from the mountain, as well as the ability to weaken the stabilization system and traction control. Among the advantages of Kaptur are Duster 205 mm ground clearance, large rollers and steel protection.

Manufacturability Capture

If we compare the European crossover Renault Captur with ours, then the latter is distinguished by increased dimensions and design elements.

The basis of the European version is the platform of the Clio hatchback, where there is a short-travel and rigid suspension, while our version has a modernized “bogie” VO.

It is called "Global Access", on which minivans, crossovers and hatchbacks are built. The rear suspension, depending on the type of drive, can be independent and semi-independent, as for the front suspension, this is McPherson.

The petrol "four" with a volume of 1.6 liters (114 hp) is a Nissan atmospheric HR16DE, which was created back in 2005. This engine is known for the following car models: Juke, Qashqai, Tiida, Note, Micra. More than 200,000 cars were sold in Russia with such an engine.

Crete's manufacturability

The Creta platform is a team of several Hyundai models: elements of the modern Elantra, Solaris dimensions, Tucson components in four-wheel drive versions.

If we compare Cretu with its neighbors in the model range, then it rides better thanks to the twisting beam at the rear and McPherson strut at the front. In the initial versions with a manual transmission, the power steering is hydraulic, while in the top version with an automatic transmission, the power steering is electric.

The engine, having the same power as the Solaris one (123 hp), is distinguished by the presence of 2 phase shifters and a torque of 151 Nm at 4850 rpm.

The basic equipment of Crete has front airbags, while the side airbags are only available in the Comfort version together with window curtains. As for the Capture, side airbags are present even in the middle Drive version.

Comparison of Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur video:

In order to have a detailed conversation and closely compare versions and configurations, you need to take into account several features. So, the Creta has four available equipment versions, while the Kaptur has three. Both of them, however, have two engine options and versions with front or all-wheel drive, but Kaptur is ahead in terms of the number of transmissions: in addition to the "mechanics", not only a hydromechanical "automatic" is offered, but also a variator. But if the notorious French "automatic" is as old as that of the platform Duster, and has four stages, then the Korean unit can boast of quite "modern" six gears. But in terms of the "tax practicality" of the engines they have parity, although in absolute terms the Creta wins: the initial 1.6-liter unit has 123 hp. (121 hp in the version with all-wheel drive, but we will omit this nuance so as not to produce unnecessary figures), and the Kaptur has 114. More powerful two-liter engines also differ slightly in power: the Korean has a "tricky" 149.6 liters .s., and French - ingenuous 143.

In our comparative "research with elements of investigation", we will consistently go from basic versions to more expensive ones, along the way finding out how much the cheapest four-wheel drive option costs, and ending with the top-end equipment options.

Basic configuration

Both crossovers already offer a decent list of equipment in the basic version. Among the "self-evident" options - power steering, frontal airbags, active safety systems and driver's seat and steering wheel height adjustment. Also, both have a full set of power windows and mirrors with electric drive and heating, and both cars already in the base offer not the most "wretched" audio system, which has not only USB and AUX, but also Bluetooth, and controls on the steering wheel (or steering column joystick - after all, this so in French).

Creta, in spite of the "Frenchman", without fail has a tire pressure monitoring system - which, by the way, cannot be purchased for Kaptur for any money - and a front armrest with a box. But the French crossover is French in order to be more elegant and refined: in contrast to the Korean "stamps" there are 16-inch alloy wheels, as well as LED running lights, an engine start button and a "pulse" window for the driver. For a modest surcharge of 7,990 rubles, you can supplement the "base" with heated front seats, which also looks like a logical proposal.

The difference in pricing approaches for the starter versions is obvious, just look at a couple more differences. The cheapest Creta costs 799,900 rubles, which is noticeably cheaper than 879,000 for the Kaptur. However, in the latter, we pay not only for the notorious French elegance, but also for quite mundane things: the most, perhaps, the main distinguishing feature is the presence of an air conditioner. In addition to him, for the sake of reducing the price in the Korean crossover, they abandoned such trifles as the central locking control panel in the key, hooks for fixing the load in the trunk, an additional organizer under the trunk floor and even the shelf of this trunk itself. Heated seats are not available here even for a surcharge, and stamped wheels are clearly registered here for a reason.

Another difference in approach lies in the choice of transmission. If for a Korean car "the base is the base", and only front-wheel drive, a junior motor and "mechanics" are available in it, then the French policy, other things being equal, allows the installation of a variator - you will have to pay 50,990 rubles for it.

Mandatory with air conditioning

To get air conditioning, heated front seats and the aforementioned "cut" little things from the penultimate paragraph of the last chapter, the Creta must choose the second Active package in the hierarchy. In addition, this performance includes ... nothing: yes, the differences between the versions boil down to these two "global" and a few minor options. If you want more, then you are offered to pay 45,000 rubles, for which a heated steering wheel will be added to the Active package (which, like tire pressure sensors, is not available at Kaptur for any price), heated rear seats (similarly) and projection headlights, as well as a leather steering wheel and LED DRLs, which the Frenchman already has in the "base".

Kaptur again answers this "in French": yes, in the Drive version it will not have a heated steering wheel and rear sofa, but it will have cruise control, a key card with keyless entry, electric folding mirrors and front side airbags, and leather steering wheel will not have to pay extra. If you want to pay extra, then for 60 thousand you can get rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, climate control, heated windshield and advanced multimedia with a seven-inch screen, navigation and a rear-view camera. All these options, by the way, are ordered individually, and not in packages, which is convenient for individual configuration. And all this is especially interesting against the background of the fact that the Creta has a "cruise", keyless entry, a light sensor, a rear view camera and a cool multimedia system will be available only for a surcharge and only in the top-end version - and this is somewhat different money.

By the way, about the money: Creta continues to be cheaper than Kaptur in these equipment options: a front-wheel drive car on "mechanics" costs 899,900 rubles against 944,990, and if you choose an automatic transmission and a variator, respectively, the price tags will be 949,900 and 994,990 rubles. On the other hand, now the question of what it is proposed to pay almost 50 thousand for when choosing Kaptur no longer arises.

The cheapest four-wheel drive

Considering the most affordable all-wheel drive option, let's make a reservation in advance: a larger number of trim levels creates a slight difference between the two crossovers. Renault has four-wheel drive only from the "second" Drive configuration - the Creta also has the "second", but it is counted from the notorious modest "base". Thus, the most affordable 4x4 version of the Creta is available in the Active version discussed above, and it will be a 1.6-liter car with manual transmission for 979,900 rubles. However, the "Korean" has a version with all-wheel drive and an automated transmission only in the next Comfort configuration, while the Kaptur has everything in the same Drive. Therefore, we will take a closer look at this particular pair of performances.

So, the all-wheel drive Creta in the Comfort trim level finally gets rid of unnecessary modesty. In addition to the leather-trimmed steering wheel and heated front seats common to both cars, it receives climate control, steering wheel adjustment for reach and roof rails, as well as options from the "paid package" above - projection headlights, foglights, heated steering wheel and LED DRLs. Alloy wheels and an automatic driver's window, which we mentioned as standard for the Kaptur, also appear here.

Despite all of the above, however, the Kaptur still has unanswered cruise control, keyless entry card keys, power folding mirrors and front side airbags. Unless the climate control is now playing not in his favor: unlike the Creta, you have to pay extra for it. But the aforementioned set for 60 thousand, which includes rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, climate control, heated windshield and multimedia with a seven-inch screen, navigation and a rear-view camera, remains in force.

The "technical justification" for the prices of these versions is based on the fact that not only four-wheel drive is available here, but also two transmission options. However, the main difference between the Korean and French crossover is that the first one has the “cheapest” four-wheel drive combined with a 1.6-liter engine, and the second - exclusively with the “older” two-liter one. As for the gearbox, the CVT is not available for the Kaptur for all-wheel drive, leaving a choice of a six-speed "mechanics" or a four-speed "automatic", while in the Creta both the automatic transmission and the manual transmission have six steps.

As we said at the beginning of this section, the minimum cost of an all-wheel drive Creta is 979,900 rubles - but this is a car in the Active version. The Comfort we are interested in costs already 1,069,900 rubles with "mechanics" and 1,119,900 with "automatic". At about the same level, the "expensive" earlier Kaptur is now: a crossover with a manual transmission costs 1,074,990 rubles, and with an automatic transmission - 1,124,990. At a comparable price, its advantage is a two-liter engine, and its disadvantage is a four-speed automatic transmission.

Base maximum

The marketing policy for both crossovers is such that even the highest grade in the hierarchy does not mean maximum equipment - you will still have to pay extra for something. However, this does not prevent us from comparing precisely these "older" performances - Style for Kaptur and Travel for Creta.

Here, both cars necessarily receive rear parking sensors and alloy wheels - however, for the Creta in the Travel version they are 16-inch versus 17-inch in the Comfort version. This is where the similarities of the complete sets end: the struggle and the game of catch-up begin.

Creta "catches up" with Kaptur, getting side airbags, and Kaptur does it in terms of LED fog lights, climate control and an armrest of the driver's seat - which, by the way, is not a "box" between the seats, but a folding one: there will not be a box here anyway ... But, unlike the "Korean", the "Frenchman" in the "base top" does not require additional payment for rain and light sensors, heated windshield, rear view camera and the previously mentioned multimedia system with a seven-inch screen and navigation. Of the "unique" Creta options, it is worth mentioning the curtain airbags, which come with side airbags, as well as the proprietary Supervision dashboard with a 3.5-inch screen and adjustable backlight brightness.

The choice of powertrains and drive types is wide for both crossovers: both can be chosen with either a 1.6-liter or two-liter engine and front or all-wheel drive. But Hyundai excludes the possibility of purchasing a "top-end" all-wheel drive 1.6-liter car on the "mechanics", while Renault does not have such a combination in principle, therefore the two-liter all-wheel drive "mechanical" version was also excluded, leaving the "urban" front-wheel drive 1.6- liter version with a variator as a starting one. In addition, Koreans do not combine a two-liter engine with a manual transmission, leaving only the choice between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

And the price tags of cars here also fluctuate within the "plus or minus", now surpassing, then yielding to each other. So, for a front-wheel drive 1.6-liter Creta with a manual transmission, they ask for 1,034,900 rubles, and with an automatic transmission - 50 thousand more, 1,084,900, while a similar version of the Kaptur costs a little less, 1,064,990 rubles. A Korean crossover with a two-liter engine, automatic transmission and four-wheel drive costs 1,224,900 rubles, and a French one - 1,194,990.

Richer than ever

Well, in conclusion, let's compare the versions filled with options as much as possible - by the way, for Creta there are a lot of such "paid" things in addition to the maximum configuration.

For both cars, a leather interior is offered for an additional charge - this is the only "identical" paid option. The second and final such option for the Kaptur is the Orange interior personalization package, which includes seats with orange textile accents, orange center console piping, and floor mats with reflective orange outline.

Creta has an impressive list of special stages. To begin with, it has a lot of what is already included in the "regular" list of options for previous versions of Kaptur: keyless entry, heated windshield, light sensor, rearview metering, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels and a multimedia system with seven-inch touchscreen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Well, the list of what cannot be bought in Renault includes chrome trim of the outer door handles, heated rear seats, electric heated windscreen washer nozzles and two additional tweeters.

The "really maximum" equipment of the Creta costs a hundred thousand more than the Kaptur: 1,349,900 rubles against 1,245,000. Of course, both cars have a two-liter engine, four-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.

Well, in conclusion, it should be said that functional options are not all that you can pay extra for when buying. Choosing Creta in metallic or mother-of-pearl color, you will have to pay 5,000 rubles, and in the case of Kaptur - three times more, 16,000. In addition, for the "Frenchman" as a more stylish representative of the segment, such "dopas" as stickers on a blue or orange roof for 9,000 rubles and 17-inch Steppe Energy alloy wheels in orange for a modest 7,000. And another curious fact is that the ERA-GLONASS system is also an additional option for all versions and costs 12,000 rubles while for the Hyundai Creta it is included in the list of basic equipment.

conclusions

Now, looking at the tables, you can draw personal conclusions, as well as understand why Hyundai achieved a more attractive starting price and a lower cost of other trim levels. In addition, it is easy to understand which options are individual for each of the cars, and, having determined which of them are more important for you personally, form preferences. The choice, as always, remains with the buyer - well, we traditionally hope that we have made the decision-making process much easier.

Which one do you prefer?

They were waited for, grinding every piece of news bit by bit, creating club forums and sites. And then they besieged dealerships and signed up in line. They are Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur, which debuted almost simultaneously. Should you choose Hyundai or Renault? We will help you figure it out!

For beautiful eyes

Or perhaps no one chooses between them? The first one who shocked me was a security guard at the exit of a residential complex. “Oh, can I delay you for a couple of minutes? What kind of Renault is this? Cute! " From a stern, large man in uniform, you obviously do not expect that he will like the lobbed Kaptur with fancy sides, and even in the orange-black color.

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

The Kaptur is also good at the rear, but in profile it seems a little stretched - apparently, it is due to the fact that the body from the more compact European Captur had to be adapted to the Duster platform. However, it is indeed 63 mm longer than the Hyundai Creta. The Korean woman from St. Petersburg does not shine with forms and is emphatically modest, but she attracts no less attention - we also got her orange color. "Well, how is the car?" - asked a neighbor at the entrance, who came out of an old Toyota Corolla, and then walked around the Crete for about 10 minutes.

Although, why be surprised if the top trim levels both Kaptur and Creta sport LED taillights and 17-inch wheels? But we could not unequivocally give the palm to one of these crossovers, and a small survey only convinced us of the opinion: older people like Hyundai, and young people vote for Renault.

Renovation in a high-rise building

Inside is exactly the same picture! Renault attracts with a variety of bright solutions - orange accents on the seats and edging of the center console, a dashboard with a digital speedometer and an unusually shaped climate control unit (all of this is from Renault Clio). But over time, there are fewer reasons for joy. The plastic is hard everywhere, the steering wheel is not adjustable for reach even in the maximum configuration, and women will be unpleasantly surprised by its effort when parking. “Kaptyur” does not have a normal armrest with a box inside, and in the shapeless seats you start to fidget after a couple of hundred kilometers - your back gets tired.

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

The Renault salon is enlivened by orange inserts on the front panel and seats (you need to pay 13,990 rubles for them), but Hyundai has fewer ergonomic punctures and much better visibility

Hyundai, on the contrary, is conservative and boring - the eye only clings to a pleasant "tidy" with white backlit arrows and scales. But it's more comfortable to sit here - you can pull the steering wheel towards you! It is a pity that both the steering wheel and the armchairs are covered with slippery leatherette. I was surprised by the tiny touch screen of the multimedia system - now there are no such and such in mobile phones!

In details Creta surpasses Kaptur - there is a full-fledged armrest, 2 12-volt outlets in front, three-stage seat heating (Renault has 1 position) and steering wheel (which Kaptur doesn't have at all). True, Hyundai's glove compartment is very tiny - A4 papers can be put here if you are not afraid to crumple them. And even in the most expensive version of Comfort with the Style and Advanced packages for 1,289,900 rubles, Hyundai does not have a rain sensor, navigation system and cruise control! By the way, it added 25 thousand in price since the start of sales, although the most affordable modification in the price list still costs 749,000 rubles.

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

The driver's seat is more comfortable in Hyundai, and the Creta also boasts heated rear seats! The wheelbase of Renault is 83 mm longer, but the rear is parity in terms of space, and the roof of Hyundai is even higher. But at Renault, the doors completely cover the thresholds, and in Hyundai, you can get your pants dirty. Leather seat upholstery is also available for the Capture, but for an additional 36 thousand rubles. There are no folding armrests at the back - no match for both crossovers

Market success

This is also why the statistics speaks in favor of "Creta" - in just 5 months it has already settled among the 25 most popular models of the year with the result of almost 18 thousand cars. Kaptur starts at 859 thousand and is almost twice as low in sales. But do not forget that the version with a CVT, on which Renault makes the main bet, appeared only in September. However, since its appearance in showrooms in August, the Creta has consistently surpassed even the Renault Duster, which previously held the title of the country's most popular crossover.

Our Renault Kaptur in the top Style version is 1,163,980 rubles. Significantly cheaper than Hyundai, even if you have to pay extra for the leather interior in Capture. What else is this money? A two-liter 143-horsepower engine, climate control, an engine start button (and, by the way, a remote start system from a key card), comfortable access, parking sensors and a rear view camera, a multimedia complex with navigation, four-wheel drive and ... yes, that the most four-speed automatic, which has long been known for Renault models.

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

A two-liter "Creta" can be bought in a front-wheel drive version, saving 80 thousand rubles on it. The Kaptur, on the other hand, with the top engine is only offered with four drive wheels.

Battle of the automata

That is why Kaptur starts quite slowly from a place (although the characteristics assure that it accelerates to a hundred faster than "Creta"), and the box sometimes twitches when switching. Before overtaking, it is better to go down a step in manual mode, and on the track such a Kaptur frustrates with increased crankshaft revolutions. Which, however, does not affect the acoustic comfort in any way - a very quiet car!

Hyundai's strong point is the six-speed automatic, available for either of the two engines (1.6 and 2.0). But not only because of this, the Creta rushes forward like a stung - typical for Hyundai, the first response to the gas pedal is too harsh. And it interferes in traffic jams or when trying to fit into a tight parking space - as if not to be in a neighbor's bumper! For the rest, there are no complaints about the power unit, although the box is trying with all its might to stay at the higher stages and when overtaking or accelerating, you have to press the pedal until the kickdown.

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

The most surprising thing is that the fuel consumption in urban conditions for crossovers was the same - 11.5-11.7 l / 100 km. But if Kaptur needs to be filled with "95" gasoline, then Creta is certified for the use of "92". Nice bonus. And in general, Creta is good on city streets - it has much better visibility, especially forward, a light steering wheel that women will definitely like, and it is not afraid of turns.

What is good for "Creta" is "Capture" ...

With Renault, the opposite is true - shocks from irregularities in the arc are transmitted to the "tight" steering wheel, and a "KamAZ" can hide behind the thick front struts. But the more difficult the conditions are, the better it is for Capture! During the test days, the roads were covered with snow, but even on standard all-season Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires, the car can be easily felt (thanks to the power steering!) And clings well to the surface. And as soon as that - ESP will delicately enter the case. Very transparent behavior!

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

But the main thing is the fantastic smoothness on bad roads. Pits, potholes, primer - nothing at all! Hyundai feels more shaky and fussy, and those who thought of changing the shoes of the Cretu into a Sava Eskimo Ice spike should be deprived of the premium - and the point is not only that the spikes in it seem to be only for decoration, but they also hum unpleasantly , which only emphasizes the poor sound insulation of the wheel arches.

Both crossovers did not do without "winter" oddities. For example, in Renault, the electric heated windshield is turned on only simultaneously with the blowing mode. If you want to quickly thaw out - listen to the noise of the fan and air! And at "Crete" the buttons for heating the seats and the steering wheel are grouped under the climate control unit, which makes one think if she really has no threads in the "lobovuha"? There is! But the key must be looked for ... to the left of the steering wheel. Rear-view cameras in winter Moscow become useless after half an hour's drive. It's good that they are duplicated by parking sensors. And also at Hyundai, the frame wiper blades are frozen. And this is in the car for almost 1.3 million rubles ...

Hyundai creta

Renault Kaptur

The trunk is nominally slightly larger for Hyundai (402 liters versus 387 for Renault), but the Capture has the correct shape, and the wheel arches do not protrude into the “hold”. Instead, the "Creta" has 2 niches at the edges (one of them has a strap), and a full-size spare wheel is hidden in the underground, around which there is also a place to place all sorts of small items. All-wheel drive "Captures" are equipped with a dock

Swapped bodies?

It turned out surprisingly - with all its "European" appearance and a bunch of bright details, Renault Kaptur is most impressive in difficult conditions. Rough habits and flaws in visibility will not please in the city, but the omnivorous suspension and "Duster" reliability should provide him with the love of residents of regions with bad roads. In addition, it looks non-trivial and quiet inside. But young people are unlikely to like the sluggish acceleration of the "Capture".

On the contrary, for all its everyday appearance, Hyundai Creta is a real city dweller. Easy to operate, comfortable to fit, with good visibility and a nimble power unit. But it upsets the suspension, which shakes the occupants of the cabin on short waves and joints at speeds typical for the city, and on a long journey will tire you with the noise of tires and the lack of cruise control. And what do older people want if not comfort and peace?

The choice is a plus for a person who dreams of a reliable, solid and economical car. But huge competition in the market has led to the emergence of similar in characteristics, and sometimes, and appearance, models. It is easy to get confused in this variety and it is extremely difficult to make a choice.

Renault Kaptur and Duster, Suzuki Vitara, Ford EcoSport, Kia Soul, Hyundai Creta - these and many other cars are competitors today. As a result, the potential of the buyer increases, and with it the flour of choice increases. To simplify the task at least a little, let's compare the two crossovers in order to find out which is better - Renault Captur or Hyundai Creta?

As an introduction

From the first days of the start of sales of Hyundai Creta in Russia, it became clear that its prototype is the IX25 model from the South Korean brand, intended for the Chinese market. Despite its "youth", the car is already in great demand. The reason for the popularity is considered to be a competent ratio of equipment, technical capabilities and car cost.

In terms of its popularity, the Russian-assembled Hyundai Creta has bypassed many competitors and today occupies the 2nd line among all Hyundai cars (at least in Russia). Its main competitor on the market is considered to be a Russian-assembled Renault Captur. Already at the start, the level of localization reached 30%, and by the end of 2017, according to experts, it will rise to 50-70 percent.

Both Creta and Kaptur are going to Russia.

The Renault Kaptur model was presented at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. From the first days of sales, it literally blew up the market, breaking into the leaders, overtaking many competitors. The only "nut" that Kaptur was "too tough" is the Nissan Qashqai car.

Despite its popularity in Europe, sales of Renault Kaptur in Russia started in 2016. For two years, the developers were engaged in adjusting the technical part of the machine to the realities of the Russian market. By the way, the option for Europe did not imply all-wheel drive and "aspirated". The volume of current sales showed that the efforts of the French were not in vain - the SUV is good in all components.

Exterior

Hyundai Creta is a car that is impossible to miss on the track. The first thing that catches your eye is the massive bumper, which takes up almost the entire front space. Special strips for DRL are built into the headlights, and vertical-type fog lights (on the left and right sides of the bumper) only complement the solid image.

The radiator grille has a standard brand badge - the English letter "H", located at an angle. The radiator grill itself looks very solid, thanks to the chrome finish and the original shape. At first glance, there is some similarity with the Tucson or Santa Fe models, which also boast a teardrop-shaped body part. A decorative plastic is provided below to protect the body from damage. And a considerable one performs a protective function.

The rear of the crossover is conventionally divided into two components - a large 5th door with an original visor, as well as a massive bumper with built-in foglights and aluminum-look pads.

Renault Kaptur is not far behind the competitor. Moreover, according to the statement of many car owners, it looks more solid and bright. French developers have paid maximum attention to the proportions of the glazed and closed surfaces - an average of 30 to 70 percent. The main features are a huge windshield, a streamlined top and large side windows that make for ideal visibility.

Despite the smoothness of the forms, an SUV is guessed at first glance in Renault Captur - some angularity, huge ground clearance (205 mm) and large wheels immediately give out a car that can overcome any obstacles. Manufacturers have not forgotten about another component - optics. Renault Kaptur has headlights, DRLs and LED fog lights. The taillights are equipped with a special LED design for an extraordinary 3D effect.

This means that the question of what to choose - Hyundai Creta or Renault Captur, will have to be left to customers. After all, everyone has different tastes ...

Interior

The interior of each model deserves special attention. The interior design of the Hyundai Creta salon cannot leave indifferent even a picky buyer. The torpedo looks impressive and consistent. The steering wheel is pleasant to the touch and sits well in the hand, and the presence of buttons on it allows you to remotely control key options.

Special attention deserves multimedia Hyundai Creta, with a 5-inch display. Its advantages are a convenient sensor, large icons and voice control. It only takes a few seconds to activate the desired option, which eliminates prolonged distraction from the road.

There are no complaints about the dashboard, which is informative and easy to read. The steering wheel adjustment allows you to quickly adjust the column even for a tall driver. Despite the fact that the crossover belongs to the “compact” category, it is very comfortable inside, and there is enough space for a large family. If desired, you can fold the rear seats and significantly increase the volume of the trunk.

Renault Kaptur does not lag behind in organizing and decorating the interior. The dashboard of the car is formed of 4 blocks, which provide the convenience of perception of information. At the disposal of the driver are indicators of speed and crankshaft rotation speed, data from the on-board computer and parameters of fuel volume. An important plus is the presence of a special gearbox indicator that prompts you to turn on the next speed.

The salon is large enough to accommodate four adults. The seats are comfortable and provide good lateral support. Adjustments can be made quickly to maximize comfort if needed. Renault Kaptur upholstery can be chosen independently (four options are presented).

Nevertheless, many note that inside the Hyundai Creta is better than Renault Captur due to a more strictly design and well-thought out ergonomics.

Specifications

Renault Captur deserves special attention.

Engines

Hyundai Creta has four engines - two diesels and a pair of gasoline engines. But the Russian-assembled Creta is only available in the petrol version. The choice is presented - for 1.6 and 2.0 liters, with 123 and 149 "horses", respectively. Power units are the most common, without any additions and innovations. Their advantages are time-tested and reliable.

Characteristics of Hyundai Creta engines:

Working volume

1591 cm³ 1 999 cm³
Number of cylinders

Power

123 l. from. / 6 300 rpm. 149.6 l. from. / 6 200 rpm.
Torque 150.7 Nm / 4 850 rpm.

192 Nm / 4 200 rpm.

Acceleration to 100 km / h

12.1 sec. 10.7 sec.
7.0-7.1 l

This is what is hidden under the hood of Crete.

Renault Kaptur also has two options to choose from and both petrol. The first is a 1.6-liter engine with 114 hp. Its feature is the presence of a double phase regulator, which provides good traction. Additional advantages of the engine include low maintenance costs and low fuel consumption. The timing chain drive here.

The second engine also runs on gasoline. Volume 2.0 liters, power - 143 "horses". Its advantages include good throttle response and dynamics, providing active acceleration even from low revs. The limiting torque is reached at 4000 rpm (195 N * m).

Renault Captur engine characteristics:

Working volume

1591 cm³ 1 999 cm³

Number of cylinders

4
Power 123 l. from. / 6 300 rpm.

149.6 l. from. / 6 200 rpm.

Torque

Acceleration to 100 km / h 12.1 sec.
Combined fuel consumption 7.0-7.1 l

And this is the Kaptur engine.

In general, the engines are equivalent (with their own characteristics, of course), so it is difficult to say which is better - Creta or Kaptur.

Transmissions

Hyundai Creta has several gearboxes. The crossover is equipped with two types of transmissions - mechanical and automatic. Both the automatic and the mechanics are only 6-speed. But the Creta has two automatic transmissions. As for the reliability and clarity of the transmission of the manual transmission, there are no complaints here. The lever travel is short enough, which is good news. also on top - smart and economical.

Hyundai Creta transmissions:

  1. MKPP6;
  2. Automatic transmission6 (2 models).

Hyundai Creta assault rifle.

Reno Captur also has a choice. For vehicles with a 1.6-liter engine and front-wheel drive, a 5-speed manual transmission is provided. The second version of the gearbox - 6-speed "mechanics" - for all-wheel drive cars with a 2-liter engine. Some configurations involve the installation of a 4-band automatic transmission, specially adapted for off-road driving. Thanks to the auxiliary circuit, additional cooling of the gearbox is provided. In addition, there is a continuously variable CVT X-Tronic for the 1.6-liter engine.

Renault Captur transmissions:

  1. MKPP5;
  2. MKPP6;
  3. Automatic transmission4;
  4. CVT X-Tronic.

Renault Captur transmissions.

Whatever it was, but the presence of only a 4-range machine gun from the Frenchman gives reason to assert that Hyundai Creta is better than Renault Captur. Although the variator somewhat smoothes the situation.

Suspension

Hyundai Creta is equipped with an independent suspension with MacPherson struts in front, and there are two options at the rear (depending on the drive). So, for cars with front-wheel drive, a semi-independent suspension is provided, and with a 4x4 drive, a multi-link (independent) suspension. In the chassis of the Hyundai Creta with all-wheel drive, a clutch is installed that is responsible for connecting the rear wheels.
This is not to say that Crete has no off-road chances.

The Renault Kaptur has a MacPherson struts suspension (independent, with stabilizers) in front. Rear axle equipment differs depending on equipment. The first option is a semi-independent running gear (torsion beam), with telescopic shock absorbers. The second is a fully independent suspension (spring, multi-link). In both cases, an anti-roll bar is installed.

However, getting stuck on Kaptura in the sand - you still have to try.

The chassis of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur are excellent in movement, although they have different characters. showed slight roll in corners and the absence of wave swing when driving at high speed. Despite some rigidity, the chassis handles small holes with ease. Large bumps already need to be driven carefully. Unlike the Korean, Renault Kaptur on the road is more imposing, and the taxiing is not so sharp. On the other hand, its B0 platform is very energy intensive.

Steering

Hyundai Kreta cars are equipped with two steering schemes - with hydraulic and electric booster. The steering wheel is obedient, although when entering tight corners, you can feel the beat of the bumps on the road. Otherwise, there are no complaints about the steering wheel of Crete.

The developers of Renault Kaptur also worked on this component. Here, an electro-hydraulic drive is installed on a car with a 2-liter engine, and an electric drive with a 1.6-liter one. Of course, you won't be able to turn the steering wheel with one finger, but that's even a plus, but you won't have to strain.

In general, the chassis of the Korean is sharper in handling, but the French crossover is distinguished by impressive energy intensity.

Options and prices

Hyundai Creta is sold in three trim levels - Start, Active and Comfort. Starting price - from 749 900 rubles. At the same time, the basic version has the required minimum - front airbags, ABS, ESC and EBD systems, an armrest, an on-board computer, a multifunction wheel and something else. Not much, of course, but the price of Creta is significantly less than that of Kaptur.

In addition, there are 3 optional packages available:

Completion / Package

Start (rub.) Active (rub.)

Comfort (rub.)

25 000
Advanced

75,000 (only 2.0 l, automatic transmission6, 4x4)

Renault Captur is also available in 3 trim levels - Life, Drive and Style. The cost of the most budgetary option is 859 thousand rubles. In the base, Kaptur is more expensive than Crete by more than 100,000 rubles, but this is covered by its much more generous equipment. In the top, the situation is approximately equal.
