Nokian n. Tires "Nordman

In regions where winters are cold and frosty, motorists are more careful about the choice of winter tires, and they try to purchase proven rubber from well-known manufacturers. Nokian has long been famous for its winter tires, which are most often adapted to harsh operating conditions. From the budget segment, the company has Nokian Nordman 7 - it is she who will be discussed below.

Concern Nokian was formed in 1898. Almost immediately after that, the Hakapelita and Nordman models appeared in the range. Due to the enormous popularity, these tires did not stop producing for many years, and then they decided to modernize.

As a result, this led to the fact that today they are represented in the 7th generation, and the demand for them does not decrease.

general information

Nokian Nordman 7 is a rubber designed to provide safety and comfort in difficult winter conditions. During the development, the same technologies were used as in the production of Hakapelite 7. However, the cost of Nordman 7 is much lower.

Thorns

For improved grip, the manufacturer decided to introduce studs into the tread pattern. They have an unusual shape and are designed using the "Bear's Claw" technology. Its essence is that the spike, when moving, catches on the road surface, and also does not change its position, it always remains vertical.

Also, in order to reduce noise when driving, special air cushions were introduced into the tread pattern near each spike. Such changes made it possible to improve not only road grip, but also the efficiency of acceleration and braking, which is very important for winter roads.

Rubber composition

In order for the tires to be able to operate in cold weather, it was necessary to change their rubber composition. Most often, silica is added for this, but cryosilane was introduced into Nordman 7. Thanks to him, tires do not harden in the cold.

It serves as a glue, connecting all other elements and improving their effectiveness. In total, such changes improve not one indicator, but several at once.

Due to this, the rubber has become more durable, so the risk of cuts or hernias is significantly reduced. They also became elastic in all conditions, which is why comfort is achieved.

Among other things, the amount of emissions into the atmosphere is significantly reduced. Due to the changed composition of the rubber, it was possible, albeit slightly, to reduce fuel consumption.

Lamelization

The tread pattern improves all performance. Despite the fact that it has studs, in addition, sipes have been added to each block to improve traction. They have a non-standard shape - three-dimensional and with different cutouts. Thanks to them, the grip becomes much better.

Also on the tread there are grooves that form a drainage system. Thanks to them, when driving on a wet surface, deterioration in properties is not observed, which has been verified by many studies.

Nordman 5 or Nordman 7: which is better?

Many motorists are asking this question, because at first glance there are not so many differences between these two models, but the cost is significantly different. Therefore, it is worth reasoning based on financial capabilities.

If the funds allow you to purchase Nokian Nordman 7, then it is better to give preference to them, since this is an improved, newer generation, and innovative technologies were used in the development. Nordman 5 is also a good option, but their technical and operational characteristics are slightly worse.

If you live in a region where winters are snowy and characterized by severe frosts, then Nokian Nordman 7 will be indispensable for equipping your car.

Experts point out that the Nokian Nordman tire line is the next step in the evolution of the popular Hakkapeliitta series. The updated models are produced at a plant in the Leningrad Region from Russian raw materials, but using Finnish technology, so the end result is of the usual high quality at a reduced price. Thus, "Nordman" tires are an inexpensive product for our market from a well-known brand. The range includes both winter and summer tires.

Features of tires "Nordman"

If we talk about studded varieties, the following features can be noted:

  • tires "Nordman" are intended for regions with a harsh climate, as evidenced by the arctic type;
  • good cross-country ability on snow porridge, loose snow and ice;
  • air claw technology, which prevents the cleat from moving during fast movement, thus providing better grip and safety of metal parts;
  • "bear's claw" technology to maintain the vertical position of the spike (implemented in the form of a hexagonal pommel).

Winter tires have a pronounced tread with a large number of sipes. This pattern makes it possible to better drive snow out of the contact patch. The stepped profile of the grooves, sharp edges, and a well-thought-out structure of the sidewall also make it possible to move more confidently in difficult road conditions.

On specialized sites and Yandex.Market inexpensive tires "Nokian" receive average ratings from users and experts. One of the popular variants is the summer model SX (CX) and S SUV.

Nokian Nordman 7 and Nokian Nordman 7 SUV review

At the turn of 2016 and 2017, the Finnish company Nokian Tires announced two new products - the continuation of the flagship series of winter tires "Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9" and "Nokian Nordman 7"... We talked about the innovations of the updated Hakkapeliitta 9, and now we will tell you about the Nordman 7.

The Nokian Nordman winter tire range has been continued with the Nokian Nordman 7 for passenger cars and the Nokian Nordman 7 SUV for minivans and SUVs. Like other models of the Nokian Nordman line, the Seven is designed for operation in northern latitudes with a pronounced winter climate and harsh conditions: North Europe, Center and North of Russia, as well as Canada. For the successful application of Nokian Nordman 7 tires, Nokian Tires engineers developed a special studding technology, updated the rubber compound and improved the tread pattern. As a result, it was possible to significantly improve the driving performance of the new tire, make it universal during temperature extremes and guarantee the best ratio of price and quality. From the point of view of the economic policy of Nokian Tires, in spite of all the engineering innovations, the new “seven” is a fairly budget option for drivers who don’t throw money down the drain. The new Nokian Nordman 7 comes in 24 sizes, from 13 to 17 inches, including the XL version with an increased load index.

"Nokian Nordman 7": composition and structure

Experienced car owners have probably realized that the new winter model "Nokian Nordman 7" was created by Finnish engineers based on the unconditional hit - "Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7": tread pattern and design solutions borrowed from the successful "namesake" provide resistance to wear and temperature changes stable grip with uncompromising aquaplaning and slashplenning protection. Time-tested reliability and long-term guarantees provided by Finnish engineers make the new Nokian Nordman 7 an excellent solution for a passenger car or four-wheel drive vehicle.

The softness of contact with the road surface and the reliability of traction of the Nokian Nordman 7 are created by the patented air claw technology - Air Claw, it is a special teardrop-shaped shock-absorbing pad, which is located in front of the cleat and protects it from damage and deformation. This technology is also aimed at preserving the integrity of the asphalt pavement: due to the smooth running of the spike, the asphalt deforms less, there are no traces of the spikes.

The three main parameters of the Nokian Nordman 7 are:

  • Stable handling and grip;
  • Extreme grip on ice, snow and wet surfaces;
  • First-class driving comfort;

The winter model "Nokian Nordman 7" also has an off-road version. In contrast to its passenger version, the Nokian Nordman 7 SUV is represented by an even wider range of standard sizes - 37 variants from 15 to 20 inches.
The Nokian Nordman 7 SUV version for all-wheel-drive vehicles features a reinforced frame, multi-layer belt and durable rubber compound. Most of the factors were borrowed from the hugely successful winter model "Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 SUV". These factors form a combination of a quality and durable product that meets all the needs of the most demanding car owner.

Wide anchor-type studs have a hexagonal pommel, which provides longitudinal and lateral traction on the icy track surface. Patented Bear Claw Technology ( Bear claw) allows the cleat to always remain upright without deforming it, as well as supporting the blocks during movement.

System Eco Stud System is another technological solution designed to increase the life of each stud in the Nokian Nordman 7 SUV tread. This is a cushion under the spike, which allows it to cushion and "spring" without harming itself and the blocks of the tread pattern.

I live in the suburbs of Poltava, Opel Astra 2002, on spacers + 2cm, Nordman 7 spike I bought this fall. Over the past weekend, the snow piled more than 30 cm, despite the fact that there was already snow. Roads on non-central streets were not cleaned for 3-4 days, it was lucky for those who had a neighbor with a cornfield or an UAZ punched a track, I didn’t have to break through with Opel.
What we liked about the tire, on low gas it perfectly ramps snow, the car crushes the snow under itself and goes clearly above the snow without touching the bottom of it. It goes on until you add extra gas or start digging foolishly. Only the wheel has slipped, the car rips off the snow under it and sits on its belly, then only the shovel helps. Even on fresh snow without a track it goes better than on a deep track, when the body partially clings to the knocked down snow. In a deep rut, the car just wants to leave the beaten track and jump into the loose deep snow. As a result, I walked 200 meters of an unclean street on an opel, once I sat down because I started digging and was too lazy to take it back. I dug it back with a shovel and began to lay the track again. Conclusion the tires are excellent, on a higher machine there will be better cross-country ability, but it has what we have.
On the ice, it clings sanely, clearly better for the previous Michelin Velcro. It rides perfectly on rolled solid snow, no worse than on asphalt.
I am satisfied with the tire, I recommend it.

quick review

Evaluation of the winter tire Nokian Nordman 7 on different surfaces (from 1 to 5 points):
snow: 5
ice: 4
snow porridge: 3
dry asphalt: 4
wet asphalt: 3
comfort level (tire noise, ride smoothness): 4

It is not correct to compare the Nokian nordman7 with the hakkapelita7, despite the similar tread pattern and spikes. On the seventh hakkapelite, I covered a little more than 100t.km, the rest of the tread remained decent, and the spikes were almost all in place, the road was excellent on any surfaces, which I will not say about Nordman7, but it is not noisy, excellent on dry and wet asphalt, well, and perhaps the advantages are over, terribly on snow, ice, in a snowy mess it feels like on bald summer tires, controllability is completely absent, I drove 2200 t.km on it ., I will change to bridge or gislavet. I do not recommend. Auto Mazda 6,205 60 16.

Advantages:

Price, behavior on dry and wet asphalt (at different temperatures from +6 to -21), not noisy, I think economical in terms of fuel.

Disadvantages:

On a snowy slurry it is not controllable at all, and on snow and even more so ice, this is demolition and a huge braking distance and starting only with slipping.

I took 3D at the end of 2017, almost before the new year. Before that, there were all-season mud m / t goodrichs and winter goodyear arctic with a thorn. I tried both tires in the winter, all-season tires do not go on ice at all, so-so on snow. The thorn from the toothed was driving the first 4 years and then began to dub and somehow it was not fun. Before the new year, he forked out and took back the thorn but Nordman 7. The car goes on the ice like a tram along the railway tracks. Last winter I forgot what a rear axle skid is. In the snow, I arranged real test drives, if it is impossible to plant it wisely. There is a tendency to burrowing, so you need to take it back on time, not try to storm the snow that has not been broken from the first arrival.
Rides pretty well in mud, of course it is far from goodrichs, but you can drive on soggy clay so that the tread does not stick a little more gas. The distance between the tread is large, there is a little self-cleaning.
On the track it goes no worse than goodrichs, it seems to me even quieter. The spike behind the razdatka and the bridge is practically inaudible.

I took a largus 185.70.14, before that there was a toyo, put a nordman 7 and the horror of the hum turns into unpleasant driving, the toyo does not hear at all, who the hum and howl does not soar, then take mona, drove on the asphalt already 1 thousand, the spikes on location.

DO NOT BUY THIS G ...... BUT! Size 185/60/15 Drove 2000 km on it! Hernia (Score on a 5-point scale:

  • Dry road 5 points.
  • Wet road 5 points
  • Wet snow (porridge) 1 point (does not slow down, it is difficult to accelerate).
  • Ice 4 points.

In my estimation, everything seems to be good for this price ......, but the sides are too soft, the rubber around the spikes is "eaten"). I went to Hack 8, Hack 7, Bridgestone 5000, Bridgestone 7000, Cordiant Snow Cross, there is something to compare with.

Better overpay 1000-1500 for a wheel and take Haku 8 (you won't regret it)

Advantages:

  • The price is possible, but it is better to choose another one for how much it is being sold for now.
  • The thorns hold well

Disadvantages:

  • Soft and uncontrollable
  • there is no confidence in traction
  • It's scary to enter the turns, stupidly demolishes, the tire bead does not hold.

It's better to take Bridge or something else instead. Marketing works, but the fact that the bus is about nothing.

Advantages:

  • only price

Wouldn't recommend! I installed the tires on the new original Mercedes wheels, and lo and behold! balancing 40-80 grams per wheel, turning 180 degrees does not help, three wheels out of four curves - seen on the tire changer. The noise is catastrophic, at first I thought of buying earplugs. I drove 1500 km, took off, balanced it did not help. They refused to exchange.

Advantages:

  • soft
  • picture

I've been driving for a month now. I ran in 1,000 km. no more than 100 km per hour. looked - all the thorns in place.

Disadvantages:

  • as one wrote above or below one - on one wheel weights in the amount of 80 grams.

I cannot estimate specifically, there is no snow. It snowed only once, there was porridge, but I could not find out how the abs worked. on nordman 4 abs only worked like this

well, the most unpleasant moment. After installing the wheels, the car began to jump at 80 km per hour. Was already on the shredder ... I think, a defect or something else. In the near future I will try to reassemble the wheels. Will not help - you will have to sell and buy new ones

Advantages:

  • Not noisy

Disadvantages:

  • Spikes fly out very quickly

I went to Nordman4 - I lost all the spikes, even though the driving is neat. I bought a nordman 5, I thought they did something better and ... also after 2 winters of thorns, 30-40 percent remained.

And you think I'll buy Nordman 7 ?!

I will never buy this brand of rubber again.

That's all...

Neutral reviews

Eight years old, went on 4. Permeability is good, there are 40% of studs. I change only because of a hernia. In general, I am satisfied. I will take 7.

So, let's begin.

I chose rubber from a couple of three parameters:

  • Stability on wet asphalt / snow / porridge.
  • That would hold the blow.
  • Braking.
  • Forgiving driver mistakes or predictable road behavior.

I will evaluate on a 10-point scale.

1. 7/10 (Let's go through the points. On the first snow, when we had a "tinsmith's day" we coped with a bang. Here I still give a report on what kind of driving style and attentiveness.

On wet asphalt (ice), with sharp braking, there is a possibility of skidding. Therefore, I brake gently and keep my distance. Overall road holding is acceptable on the road.

On porridge (I haven't quite felt it yet, but I hope that it won't let you down at this point either)

  • 2. 8/10 Bumps, unevenness and all sorts of disappointments on our roads.
  • 3. 8/10 Somewhere I saw statistics, these tires took 3rd place in the rating. The first was occupied by Haka 9.
  • 4. 7/10 Like all winter tires, it makes noise. Not usual after the summer, at 60+ the hum dies down. 30-40 + grinding of teeth / hum. At 90-110 (I don’t go anymore in winter, I’m on friendly terms with my head) the hum is acceptable, but as in the summer you will not enjoy the trip.
  • 5. 8/10 Like the others who unsubscribed here, he also skidded the car, keeps it acceptable, even the system is not included.

Everyone is not a nail, not iron, good roads and good luck!

The grip is excellent, not bad on snow and ice. I wrote about the places around the thorns, and so around the thorn, pieces of rubber were pulled out, but the thorns are still in place, the mileage is already about 5000 km. We watch further. There is practically no noise, like bare asphalt.

Advantages:

  • Aquaplaning is above average.
  • Driving on a slush is reliable.

Disadvantages:

  • Braking on dry and wet asphalt.
  • Exchange rate stability.

Impressions I write based on the current temperatures in Moscow time -1 .. +4 Dimension 185/60 R15, front-wheel drive cars. I ran it 800-900 km. at this time the hum was just awful, now I drove 1200 km, it became a little quieter. As noted earlier, braking on asphalt is disgusting, predicting deceleration is difficult: with the same pedal pressure, it can adequately slow down or go further, so you have to push harder (so I brake on it in advance). From the point of view of controllability, the rubber is wadded (like the previous Nokian in varying degrees of cottoniness), that is, a clear zero on the steering wheel is lost with increasing speed, driving faster than 130 km / h is uncomfortable, there is little feedback, steering response is lubricated, in turns there is a tendency to demolition. At the start, slippage occurs: rarely on dry asphalt, often on wet asphalt, while it was running in, slipped very often, although I did not press especially hard. From the point of view of strength, there are no questions: the thorns are all in place, the lamellas are intact, everything around the thorns is also in place. It rides well on water and snow porridge if you go straight. Braking and steering response improve quite a bit at a temperature of -1 .. 0 In my opinion, the rubber is not for residents of megacities, where most of the ride is on dry / wet asphalt. In sparsely populated areas, at constantly low temperatures, on country roads, it will show itself well, spikes and a tread pattern indicate this. And yes, some argue that this rubber is a copy of Hakki 7-round, Nordman of the second division Nokian, hence the price and worse properties. I will change mine for the tires of the first division.

Advantages:

  • Soft rubber
  • on wet pavement keeps confidently as in its element.
  • It behaves confidently when cornering.
  • After 1000 km. while the thorns are in place.

Poor braking on dry asphalt. With a sharp start, it goes into a slip on the asphalt, although I don't drown much. On the ice it is not clear controllability, sometimes it is scary, I compare it with CORDIANT sno max. Incomprehensible micro-tears of rubber around the studs after running-in, ran in 500 km in a sparing pensioner driving style. It is not known how long this rubber will last, namely the studs and the tread pattern. Let's see what will happen next.

Advantages:

  • Low fuel consumption, just like summer tires.

Disadvantages:

  • Pulls out pieces of rubber near the spike on the drive axle.
  • With a mileage of 1000 km, balancing of 15-25 grams on all 4 wheels went away (initially there was zero balancing), how many new wheels I took before.
  • They make a lot of noise.

I'm afraid of the thorns, they don't inspire confidence. The start is as smooth as possible, with a lot of gas. Before that there was a gislaved nord frost 100, so there he left the traffic light with the axle box (it steered on the asphalt better than the nordman), did not steam at all with running in and not a single spike flew out, the rubber around the spike did not crumble. I bet that in winter the Nordman will win over ice and snowdrifts. Otherwise, quite sadness: (

Auto Lada Largus tires 185/65 r 15 traveled 600 versts. First impressions are very positive. I tried it at different pressures of 2, 2 atm and 2, 4 atm, the difference is felt strongly at 2, 2 is much softer. This is the second time I buy Nordman, I don’t remember the number I skated on the Skoda A5 after it got pulled on the Michelin and the wheel broke through, and the Nordman put it like this (in an hour). I also rolled the hacapellita, probably the first on a VAZ 2106, drove with my eyes closed-))) In general, something like this.

Advantages:

  • Quiet, I have something to compare with
  • gas mileage as in summer
  • handling is good, in general, soft flaws have not yet been found.

Disadvantages:

  • Yes, there are none, let's look at the thorns at the end of the season and try in the snow, but for now everything is fine.
