Subaru Impreza III - model description. All owner reviews about Subaru Impreza III Impreza 3rd generation

Test drive December 21, 2010 Thick and thin (Impreza WRX STI 2.5 (2010))

Often, modernization is used only as a publicity stunt, since new bumpers and headlights, by and large, do not affect the consumer qualities of the car. In the case of the "Impreza WRX STI", there were also some cosmetic touches, but the Japanese focused on much more important things, seriously changed the suspension, transmission and added another version of the "sedan" body to the range of the new generation of the model.

Fine tuning (Impreza WRX STI (2011)) Test Drive

The premiere of the Subaru WRX STI of the next model year took place at the Moscow International Motor Show. Now the time has come for the riding presentation of this sporting novelty.

Unique (Impreza 2.0D) Test Drive

In the European market, almost all companies offer diesel versions of their vehicles. Without such a motor in the range, you cannot count on successful sales. Realizing this, Subaru introduced the first diesel in its history. At first they were equipped with a Forester crossover, and now they began to install it on an Impreza.

General vehicle information

The third generation Subaru Impreza is a class C all-wheel drive car with rally genes. Produced in the back of a hatchback and a sedan. The completely new design of the car caused a lot of controversy among fans of the brand. The production of the model was established at the Gunma Yajima Factory in the Japanese city of Ootashi.

The third generation Subaru Impreza was unveiled in April 2007 at the New York Auto Show. The model was offered in a hatchback body for buyers in Europe, in a sedan body for the United States. In 2008, the sedan appeared in European car dealerships.

The car was developed in the framework of the concept "Sports car for every day". The engineers were tasked with developing a beautiful and practical car, while maintaining the values \u200b\u200bof the Subaru brand - powerful engines, four-wheel drive and excellent handling.

In 2010, the model has undergone a restyling. The design of the front end has changed, two new engines and a continuously variable transmission have appeared, the suspension has been modified.

Also in 2010, a crossover based on the Impreza was introduced, dubbed the Impreza XV. It has increased ground clearance to 185 mm and re-tuned the suspension.

In 2011, the fourth generation Impreza was presented at the New York Auto Show.

Technological features and characteristics

The model is built on a modified second generation Impreza platform. The length of the car has grown by 115 mm. The engineers increased the wheelbase by 95 mm. The design turned out to be quite unusual, especially when compared to its predecessors.

Compared to the second generation model, there is more space in the cabin and a new rear suspension design has increased the useful volume of the luggage compartment. The rear doors began to open at an angle of 75 °, which facilitated boarding and disembarking of rear passengers.

The engines of the model inherited from the predecessor. Atmospheric opposed petrol with a working volume of 1.5 liters (107hp), 2.0 liters (150 hp) and a turbocharged engine 2.5 liters (230 hp). They were paired with a four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual gearbox with a reduction row. In 2009, a new two-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 150 hp appeared in Europe, which was aggregated with a six-speed manual transmission.

In 2010, the 1.5 L (107 HP) engine replaced the more modern 1.6 L (114 HP), with a timing chain drive and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet. Thanks to new lightweight pistons and connecting rods and a special coating of engine components, friction losses have been reduced by 28%. The new engine is 10% more economical. It also became possible to purchase an Impreza with a stepless variator.

A symmetrical all-wheel drive system is installed on the car - the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles is 50:50. On the model with a manual transmission, an all-wheel drive system with an center differential and a viscous coupling is installed.

The front suspension remains the same - type, without a subframe. A completely new rear independent suspension has been developed with double parallel A-arms. In the course of restyling, the suspension was modified, it was equipped with new shock absorbers and springs with greater energy intensity. The front levers were replaced with more rigid ones. Increased rigidity of the rear subframe and anti-roll bar bushings.

In order to improve the safety of passengers, it was necessary to abandon the branded frameless doors. The front engine mount has been lowered by 22 mm for better cornering stability. The vehicle's ground clearance is only 155 mm.

Interesting Facts

The Lineartronic installed on the Impreza is the only continuously variable transmission with longitudinal arrangement paired with all-wheel drive. Time for conditional gear shifting in manual mode - 0.1 sec;

Translated from Italian "impresa" - thirst for success;

The EE engine from Subaru is the world's first and unique boxer diesel engine. Thanks to the opposed circuit, perfect balancing of the motor was achieved and the problem of motor vibration was solved;

Pros and cons versus classmates

Among the advantages of the third generation Subaru Impreza, it is necessary to highlight, first of all, four-wheel drive - the car behaves confidently on any road surface. Fully independent suspension confidently swallows all pits and bumps in the roadway.

People of any height and configuration feel quite comfortable in the car. All claddings and panels fit well - there are no cracks or creaks. Car thieves are usually interested in the most powerful versions of the model.

The disadvantages of the third generation Impreza include high cost and controversial design. On cars in the sedan body, the trunk opening is too narrow - it is difficult to load bulky items. A major drawback is the lack of good specialists in the repair and maintenance of cars of this brand in the regions.

Target audience, numbers and awards

The third generation Subaru Impreza, above all, attracts the looks of young people with an active lifestyle. The lack of comfort in it is compensated by excellent dynamics and excellent handling. As a rule, drivers who once appreciated the merits of this model are very reluctant to change to cars of another brand.

In 2008, in Great Britain, the pilot from Sweden Patrick Flodin in a Subaru Impreza 2007 model year, won gold in the class of production cars.

The third generation Subaru Impreza has received excellent marks in crash tests of various independent organizations. The American Institute of Automotive Safety IIHS in 2007 named this model the best among classmates based on the results of frontal, side and rear crash tests.

The Impreza was named the 2009 Car of the Year by Wheels magazine. The car is designed primarily for fans of the Subaru brand. These are usually young people leading an active lifestyle.

I am not a master of writing, so do not judge strictly.

I live near Norway, on the small island of Spitzbergen. From auto-selection - Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru (I mean the presence of service centers). I will not describe my past experience of owning a car (it simply does not exist, or rather small), so after accumulating a certain amount, I rushed to ask adult uncles about a particular brand of car. Conclusion: it was not worth doing this, because still did it my own way))).

And then the day came - I'm in the Subaru showroom. The choice was between the Impreza wrx and the 2 liter diesel Impreza. I will draw the attention of local critics that I chose the car that could get it faster. Wrx had to wait six months. In Norway, they don't buy it much (they bring it to us from there), so you need to make an application for the plant, and the second option is 1 month. I made the payment and was looking forward to the arrival of the day when the ship with the car arrives.

Strengths:

  • Controllability
  • Low fuel consumption (mixed about 10)
  • Very popular in the country of residence. I don't think it will be difficult to sell

Weak sides:

  • Noise isolation
  • Expensive spare parts and service

It is believed that the choice of a car speaks about the character of its owner.

Status, drive, frugality or desire will stand out ... but you never know what goals we set when buying another car.

I have wanted an Impreza for a long time, in this body.

So, continuation. After 5000 running in, I started to turn the engine in full. Officials recommend to undergo MOT every 15,000 - nonsense! The oil they pour is a motel, undoubtedly a very high quality oil, but only the first 4000 km. Then it becomes liquid and black. Having traveled 15,000 km on a motule without replacement with the level on the dipstick closer to the average from the maximum, I put the motor down. The connecting rod liner turned over, and all this was due to the fact that there was an oil starvation. The motor was changed under warranty for two weeks without any questions.

I have already started running the new motor in a different way. I don’t know how correct this is, but I tried not to keep the engine at the same rpm during running-in, but to change them from 2000 to 4000. Several nights along the Moscow Ring Road and the running-in was completed. Now I'm very happy with the car. Now I change the oil every 7500 km and not a motorbike, but a mobile, with it the engine runs much quieter. Now I put 4-piston brakes, because stock is about nothing. After one brake from 180 to 40 km / h, they refused to work. Brakes with a large disc diameter (instead of a drain of 300 mm - now 330 mm) brake much more efficiently and do not heat up as much. And I also want to note about the handling. If earlier I wrote that the handling is excellent, then after a while it began to be lacking. Large rolls when cornering. Now I have installed an adjustable suspension HKS Hypermax III, it was another matter, the car goes through turns like on rails, the only thing that now lacks rubber is narrow.

And how to drive this car in winter. A little bit of gas in a turn, and you are already in a controlled drift - breathtaking, and the roar of the engine is a fairy tale))) In winter, Subaru is a real lighter. You can get a lot of driving pleasure. In winter I rode on various prepared tracks (Leader, Myachkovo ...) - you forget about everything!

Review of Subaru Impreza 2.5T WRX (Subaru Impreza) 2008 Part 5

Hello, Autoforum citizens.

I will continue the story about the life of WRX.

After 2.5 years after the purchase, I encountered the classic WRX itch of the gadfly - I want it faster, faster, more responsive, i.e. STI. Due to the insane increase in prices for new cars over the past 1.5 years, taking a new toad strangles, ab. reluctance. Therefore, I decided to start with the tuning of the existing car, namely the so-called "Stage 1".

Review of Subaru Impreza 1.5R Comfort (Subaru Impreza) 2008

I got behind the wheel of a car by accident. I came to visit and managed to get behind the wheel. The review naturally cannot be complete, since it reflects a very short episode of acquaintance. Written according to the most vivid impressions. Some little things will be overlooked.

- Appearance. Perhaps the fans of the brand do not really like the look of the car, it did not cause any rejection in me. But at the same time, considering the cost of the car, then, perhaps, the car should be brighter. The muscular design in other versions of the Impreza is more interesting IMHO.

- The trunk. Very small. I even looked under the boot floor, but there is no spare wheel and there is no room. For small luggage it will do. It will be difficult for a large family to place things in the car. But I liked the curtain that covers the trunk. Very convenient and functional.

Strengths:

  • Excellent handling
  • Four-wheel drive
  • The presence of a decreasing row
  • Excellent visibility
  • Weak loss of value in the secondary market
  • Profitability
  • High build quality

Weak sides:

  • The engine does not pull at the bottom
  • Very specific box
  • High price
  • Cheap materials in decoration
  • Small trunk and interior

So, Impreza is almost 3 years old. It's time to take stock and say goodbye to the guarantee.

The overall impression remained the same as immediately after the purchase: Subaru Impreza is a strange car with a wonderful energy-intensive suspension, a high-revving engine, a spacious interior and a microscopic trunk, good handling with a rather sluggish acceleration ... This is a city car for people not burdened with a large families who do not like active rest, but who want to ride comfortably on the ROADS in any weather.

Good afternoon, dear site visitors.

So, the turbomachine rode 30,000 km, having passed the next MOT (30,000), during which the following was done according to the regulations:

  • replacement of engine oil (Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP Formula),
  • replacement of antifreeze (Mobil Extra),
  • replacement of brake fluid (Mobil Brake Fluid DOT4),
  • replacement of cabin and air filters,
  • inspection of "everything and everyone".

Outside of the regulations, the bushings of the front and rear stabilizers were replaced, since, due to our broken roads to madness, the bushings were "ordered to live a long time" shortly before maintenance.

No more problems with the car were found either by me or by the dealer's servicemen.

Review Subaru Impreza 2.0R Luxury (Subaru Impreza) 2008

The first part was written in the fall, and then came winter 2010, which showed the correctness of my choice of car. Despite the small clearance, the Impreza never skidded, confidently overcame the snow-covered St. Petersburg courtyards, avoiding drifts, overtaking the rest of its class in the snow porridge. And once she put to shame Santa Fe, whose owner at first did not let us go out of the yard, and then buried himself in the snow and resorted to using a shovel. It turned out that his Santa is a mono-drive American. While he was digging, the Impreza showed him her tail and proudly walked away, throwing snowballs into the air with all four wheels.

In cold weather, it always started up confidently. Once the driver's door stopped closing with the key fob. The problem was solved by the dealer after washing and warming up - the contacts froze. Consumption in the city in the most severe snowfalls rose to 14 liters, long-term movement in 1-2 gears affected. Climate control, heated seats, mirrors functioned adequately. I went to work and on business in a light jacket, and on a long trip it was warm and without outerwear. Winter studded tires (Yokohama) turned out to be noisy, we had to put up with it. In the cramped snowy courtyards, I received minor damage (a dent on the rear right door, passing to the rear fender), which I repaired at the dealer for CASCO.

In May, there was a maintenance for 15 thousand. The cost of maintenance is large (11,500 rubles), but not prohibitive. The most expensive part was the cabin filter (2600 r). Next time I will buy it in another place (from 500 rubles), since the dealer is not forbidden. The other day I got the first unpleasant impression of the car - I found three streaks of rust from under the license plate on the trunk lid. A detailed inspection showed that the dealer-installed frame hit the boot lid every time the trunk was slammed shut. In this case, the protruding three latches of the frame pierced the paint layer to the metal. I will try to be repaired under warranty.

Strengths:

  • Four-wheel drive

Weak sides:

  • Weak paintwork

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen!

So, the "pearl" continues to roll through the cities and villages of the central and northwestern part of all Russia ... The car has run in (according to OD, it completely "rolls out" to about 9000 km). At 8500 km of run, I added 350 ml of oil to the engine (Mobil 1 0W-40), i.e. this consumption after oil change during "break-in" TO-1600 km.

I became the proud owner of this little animal))) Before that, there was a Mazda 3 2.0 sport of 150 horsepower ... The machine is nothing like that, but this one is ... a completely different level))) Yes, salonchik could have been made a little richer (at least plastic was more expensive to use), but perhaps is buying it for this? The dealer made a crankcase and differential protection, tinted the rear windows and hung mud flaps (by the way, they help a lot from dirt on the rear window). I bought winter tires NOT studded, I ran over on the thorns - nafig-nafig, useless, dangerous thing ... True, the dealer messed up so well - installed a turbo timer (along with the signaling) and fur for me. protection on the box ... the only way I installed it that it works (the key turns and pulls out) only in 4th gear ... so I sit and wait until the machine goes out, and only then I close the box ... well, okay, I'll change it soon.

The run-in took place strictly according to the book (3-4 tons of revolutions), although I really wanted to try it in practice ... Passed MOT, everything is in order, and began to try it in practice. Acceleration is gorgeous…, of course, I skated only in winter, so I haven't fully understood or felt the acceleration. When there is dry asphalt, and now I see it more and more often)), then I do the following: I stand at a traffic light, I increase the speed to 2800-3000, somewhere like that, no more ... green light, vruuummmmmmmm, the arrow fluctuates a little between 3000-3500 … And then the main thing is to catch the moment when the arrow flies to 5000, switch to the second and quickly release the clutch and gas-gas. Then you get the perfect shift and the effect of constantly pressing into the seat without any jerks and some other crap ... mmm, kayyyyyffff.

Now I go to 16 205/55, when maneuvering left and right, there is a tendency))) As if it is so joking after rebuilding. I read in various test drives that it has some kind of tilt ... so far I can not say anything about it: 1. Wrong disks, in the summer I will put 17 and everything will be clear. 2. Wrong coverage - again, all in the summer ... At 80-90 I went along the radius to the ring road ... everything holds and does not slip anywhere ... I really like it. Drifting near real in the snow ... damn, ATAS control: wanted here - went here, wanted here - went here, circle around - please ... And everything is in 2nd gear up to 3000 rpm ... I drive 80 km around the city in 4th gear ... in general I do not go around the city in the tourist zone. A knowledgeable person said that in the turbine zone either gas to the floor or without gas ... otherwise it is harmful for the turbine. Therefore, in the city up to 3000 revolutions (3000 inclusive). But in the evening, when there are fewer cars, or somewhere when changing lanes, I give gas up to 5000, so that I don't forget)))

Good afternoon everyone, Dear website visitors!

"Black Pearl" is the name of the Subaru color scheme. More precisely: Obsidian Black Pearl ... Since the mileage is still very small (in fact, I have just passed the running-in), I can hardly talk for a long time about the advantages, disadvantages, etc. So far, only first impressions ...

After the purchase, they immediately delivered: aluminum protection of the pallet and rear differential, as well as an alarm with a turbo timer….

Strengths:

  • Symmetrical four-wheel drive
  • Ergonomics
  • Appearance

Review of Subaru Impreza 1.5R (Subaru Impreza) 2008

The car was purchased new in the salon in July 2009. Before that, there were VAZ 2105, Toyota Karina 1990 and Daewoo Nexia 2004. After the Toyota, which I had to part with due to a breakdown, I considered Nexia as a temporary option until there was money for a modern car (I did not consider buying on credit in principle).

While saving up for a car, I reread a lot of magazines, especially sections about typical breakdowns and problems, the reliability of certain cars. And now, when I was already able to choose between the new focus, aster, lacetti, fawn, octash, etc., I suddenly realized that among all this diversity, nothing "touches me." I just decided to give up the purchase and continue driving the "Ksenia", as I spontaneously jumped into the Subaru salon. Immediately got an hour-long test drive on an Impreza 1.5. After a test drive, I realized that this is the car that I need. He brought his wife to the salon. The hatchback disappeared immediately because of the small trunk and the ceiling hanging low over the rear seats. I wanted to take a 2 liter Impreza, but there were only 1.5 liters with a sedan body. I compensate for the lack of power, which affects when overtaking trucks on the track, with experience and active work with the manual gearbox handle.

In choosing between power and practicality, I preferred the latter. The salon offered a 9% discount on cars with cruise control, leather steering wheel and 6 airbags. Alloy wheels, climate control, music were already in the database. The car itself cost 616 thousand. With crankcase protection, mud flaps, signalization and insurance, I invested in 700 thousand.I pleasantly surprised CASCO - with my experience of 23 years, it was 33 thousand, and after a month it paid off (I changed the windshield cracked from a stone glass). In less than 5 months, I dashed off more than 10 thousand km. There were long trips from 600 to 1200 km one way, as well as winding to the dacha 100 km from St. Petersburg, and of course daily traffic around the city to work and back. Fuel consumption in the country is 7-8 liters per hundred, in the city 11-13 liters. Now the average consumption for a computer for 10 thousand km is 8.8.

Strengths:

  • Four-wheel drive
  • Excellent standard lighting equipment
  • Strengths:

Now about the car. The car is good - you can't say anything, nimble and fast. Excellent visibility and comfortable fit, and in general the ergonomics and ease of use of the main controls do not cause any complaints. You can only blame the fuzzy temperature display at the climate control. Comfort level, especially compared to the rest of the Subaru. With all these positive qualities, the poor finish and the practically absent trunk are especially annoying. In general, everything is very, very good. If you do not forget about the clearance of 155 mm, you can carefully drive off the asphalt, and in winter four-wheel drive - there is four-wheel drive. There is enough room in the back for a golf class, although there are no amenities, not even an armrest. There was no light, even if it was xenon. He raised and adjusted himself at the stand, because the dealer did not bother with this simple task.

About service. Everything is as usual with Subaru. Expensive and nothing more to say.
