Audi A4 is a five-seater mid-size car of the premium segment. It is available in two versions: a four-door sedan and a station wagon. After restyling, its overall dimensions are: length 4762 mm, width 1847 mm, height 1428 mm for the sedan and 1435 mm for the station wagon, and the wheelbase is 2820 mm. The model is based on the modular MLB platform. It involves a fully independent multi-link suspension arrangement. In the initial versions, conventional double-acting shock absorbers are installed in a circle, and for an additional fee, adaptive struts with comfortable and sporty modes of operation can be ordered. As for the size of the trunk, the sedan is able to offer up to 460 liters. The station wagon is somewhat more spacious. Specifications

Five different powertrains were announced at the start of sales. Gasoline Audi A4 will receive a line of two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Basic versions develop 150 and 190 horsepower and 270-320 Nm of torque. They come with only seven-speed preselective robotic boxes with two S tronic clutches. The drive is exclusively front. Older versions will receive a more powerful engine with 245 horses and 370 Nm of thrust. It works with the same gearbox and proprietary Quattro all-wheel drive system. Diesel versions are available in two versions. The first is a turbocharged in-line four with 190 forces and 400 Nm with a robotic gearbox. There is also a more powerful version with a V-shaped six. It generates 231 hp and 500 Nm. The transmission is a classic eight-speed hydromechanical automatic and an all-wheel drive system.

Equipment

The main change in the interior of the Audi A4 is the updated multimedia system. She received an enlarged screen (10.1 versus 8.3 inches from its predecessor). Moreover, it has become sensory. For a more pleasant tactile sensation, the manufacturer has installed a small spring. Also, the controller, which was previously responsible for control, disappeared from the center console. The optional virtual instrument panel has been changed. It has increased functionality and image resolution. Other changes worth noting include a new steering wheel, an expanded list of trim materials and interior ambient lighting.

The world premiere of the car took place in the same autumn - on the podiums of the Frankfurt Auto Show, after which (literally in for several months), it went on sale in the main markets (including Russia).

As a result of "reincarnation" - the Ingolstadt "a-four" remained faithful to the corporate style, but completely renewed its equipment (while adding in size, but throwing off "extra pounds").

The appearance of the "fifth" Audi A4 did not become a big surprise - the three-volume box retained its recognizable shape, although it was transformed in accordance with the latest trends in the corporate style of the brand from Ingolstadt.

For the "fifth A4" there are anatomical chairs with a well-thought-out profile, pronounced support on the sides, a wide range of settings and heating (optionally also with ventilation, and even with electrical adjustment of the lumbar support). The increased dimensions of the body also affected the organization of the rear passenger seats - there was more space on all fronts.

Amenities for a fee include a 10.1-inch multimedia center screen and individual climate settings.

The trunk of the sedan does not shine with capacity, but 480 liters should accommodate without problems.

    • 190 "horses" and 320 Nm of thrust at 1450-4200 rpm,
    • or 249 forces 370 Nm of the limiting torque at 1600-4500 rpm.

    In the first case, the fifth Audi A4 spends 7.3 seconds to accelerate to the first hundred, in the second - 1.5 seconds less, the maximum speed reaches 240 and 250 km / h, respectively. In the combined driving cycle, the three-volume box consumes an average of 4.8-5.7 liters of fuel per 100 km of run.

  • Available for the "four" in the back of B9 and a 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which, depending on the modification, generates:

It is not excluded that in the future, more efficient diesel engines will be brought to our country - V-shaped "six" with a volume of 3.0 liters, producing from 218 to 272 "horses" of power and from 400 to 600 Nm of potential.

The fifth generation of the Audi A4 is built on the modernized MLB bogie, which is based on high-strength steel, winged metal and composite materials, which, depending on the installed engine, saved up to 120 kilograms of weight. A five-link suspension is mounted at both the front and rear, in which the upper arms are connected to the bodywork for optimal rigidity.

Optionally, the "German" is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers with two settings - comfortable and sporty.

For Audi, the Quartet is the fundamental striking force in the market. On average, it needs 6.2-6.5 liters of fuel per 100 km of run on the combined cycle. "A-fourth" with a 170-horsepower engine exchanges the first hundred in 7.9-8.3 seconds, gaining maximum 225-230 km / h and consuming 5.7-6.2 liters of fuel, depending on the modification.
  • This is followed by a 2.0-liter "turbo four" with a capacity of 225 horsepower, developing 350 Nm of peak thrust. In tandem to this motor, a 6-speed "mechanics", a multitronic variator or a 7-band "robot" S tronic with a pair of clutches are offered. Acceleration of such a car from 0 to 100 km / h varies from 6.4 to 6.9 seconds, and the "maximum speed" is electronically limited at around 250 km / h. The appetite of such "A4" is rather moderate - in the combined cycle it "eats" from 5.8 to 6.7 liters of gasoline.
  • The flagship is the 3.0-liter V6, producing 272 "horses" and 400 Nm of torque. It relies exclusively on the 7-speed S tronic and quattro all-wheel drive. Such an Audi A4 "shoots" from zero to the first hundred in 5.4 seconds, and its top speed is 250 km / h. Such a powerful car consumes 8.1 liters of fuel per centner of the track in the combined cycle.

Now about diesels.

  • The "junior" is a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine with a return of 150 horsepower and 320 Nm. To help him are assigned a continuously variable multitronic variator and front-wheel drive. One should not expect impressive dynamic and high-speed characteristics from this engine - a 150-horsepower car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.1 seconds and picks up the maximum possible speed of 210 km / h. The main advantage of a diesel engine is fuel efficiency. This Audi A4 consumes only 4.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.
  • The role of "middle" is performed by a four-cylinder turbo unit with direct fuel injection. With a power of 177 forces, its limiting moment is set at around 380 Nm. Such a sedan does the exercise to set the first hundred in 7.9 seconds, and its peak speed is 222 km / h. The indicators are not bad, as is the consumption of diesel fuel - only 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
  • "Senior" - a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with six V-shaped cylinders. Its power is 245 "horses", and the maximum torque is 500 Nm. It works in conjunction with the 7-speed "robot" S tronic and all-wheel drive quattro transmission. This amount of horsepower provides excellent dynamics - 5.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h, as well as a speed of 250 km / h. At the same time, fuel consumption clearly will not ruin the owner - a 245-horsepower unit is content with only 5.7 liters of fuel.

As for the suspension, there is a double wishbone independent structure with stabilizers at the front, and a multi-link independent structure with trapezoidal levers and a bearing beam at the rear.

Options and prices. In 2015, the most affordable Audi A4 sedan with a 120-horsepower engine and a 6-speed manual transmission is offered on the Russian market at a price of 1,480,000 rubles. The list of equipment for such a car includes six airbags, various electronic assistants, an air conditioner, a standard audio system, a start-stop system, full power accessories and 16-inch rollers.
The four-wheel drive petrol version will cost a minimum of 1,754,000 rubles. The "top" version of the Audi A4 sedan with a 272-horsepower gasoline engine, S tronic and quattro all-wheel drive costs from 2,600,000 rubles, the "top-end diesel" is 100,000 rubles more expensive. The Audi A4 is a line of compact executive cars produced since the end of 1994 by the German automaker Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. This car is the successor, production of which ended in 1996.

The A4 has gone through five generations of modifications and is based on the Volkswagen Group B platform. The first generation of Audi A4 ( Typ 8D) debuted in October 1994, production began in November 1994, and European sales began in January 1995. North American sales began later in September 1995. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B5 platform (PL45), on which the fifth generation Volkswagen Passat is based. Two types of bodies were produced - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon (Avant).

Diesel 4-cylinder 1.9 liter capacity from 75 to 115 HP, 6-cylinder V-shaped 2.5-liter engine with 150 HP.

Audi B6 (2000-2006)

Next Audi A4 ( Typ 8E) debuted on October 10, 2000, the basis was now the Volkswagen Group B6 platform (PL46). The new car styling was developed under the direction of German automotive designer Peter Schreyer between 1996 and 1998, inspired by the design for the second generation (C5), presented in 1997.

The body was in three versions - a 4-door sedan, a 5-door station wagon and a 2-door convertible. The Avant (station wagon) was introduced in June 2001 and entered European showrooms in September 2001.

A number of engines have received many additions. In 2005, the direct fuel injection (FSI) system was introduced for the 2.0 TFSI and 3.2 V6 FSI petrol engines, along with other improvements, which increased the power to 197 hp. and 252 hp. respectively. These engines use a four-valve per cylinder configuration.


The choice of engines is still large. Gasoline - 4-cylinder with a volume of 1.6 to 2.0 liters with a capacity of 102 to 220 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 3.2 liters with a capacity of 252 hp. Diesel - 4-cylinder with a volume of 1.9 to 2.0 liters with a capacity of 115 to 170 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 2.5 to 3.0 liters with a capacity of 163 to 233 hp.

There are four transmissions to choose from - 5 or 6-speed mechanics, 6-speed automatic "Tiptronic", as well as a continuously variable transmission "Multitronic" (CVT) with a choice of seven speeds.

Audi B8 (2009-2015)

Audi unveiled the first official photos of the A4 B8 series in August 2007 and the car itself was shown to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B8 modular longitudinal platform (MLB / MLP), a platform that is also used for the Audi A5 coupe. Cars with a cabriolet type body began to be called the Audi A5, only two bodies remained to choose from - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon.

The MLP platform allows for reduced front overhang, resulting in a longer wheelbase without increasing overall length. This effectively redistributes the center of gravity slightly backward, improving handling and balancing the vehicle's mass between the front and rear axles. Also, the new platform made it possible to increase the space in the cabin and the luggage compartment, and the curb weight of the car decreased by 10%.


Gasoline engines have become all with a direct fuel injection system (FSI) - 4-cylinder 1.8 and 2.0 liters with a capacity of 118 to 222 HP, 6-cylinder V-shaped 3.0 liters (268 HP) and 3.2 liters (261 hp). In June 2015, the next generation version of the Audi A4 B9 (Typ 8W) was released - the fifth model for the A4 name and the ninth generation of the Audi 80 / A4 series in general. The official launch took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B9 platform (MLB / MLP). The B9 is slightly larger than the previous generation, but weighs 120 kilograms less. There are also two bodies to choose from - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon.

My wife and I drove almost without getting up for 16 hours from Moscow - and nothing got sick, did not ache and did not lurch. And we, unfortunately, are far even over 30. The seats are electric, they sat down comfortably almost immediately and have not changed the settings yet, they sit well. How she rides! Everything is new in it - engine, chassis, gearbox. As if glued to the road. They say that you can also go sideways on it. It's hard to imagine this yet.

As a result, I took an Audi A4 2 liters, 249 forces, four-wheel drive, sports equipment, two S-lines, 18th discs, an electric driver's seat, LED front-rear headlights, music 10 speakers with a subwoofer, piano lacquer inside, a comfort package and maybe I forgot. Having driven the first 200 km, the sensations are only positive. The headlights are fire, the suspension is super, the box is good, the steering is very wonderful, the music is 3 plus. Very nice car. The shumka is very good. The beauty in the salon is simply incredible, the extended illumination makes itself felt, there are many different colors, and it is also possible to choose your own color. The sports seats hold just super, and as a bonus, excellent fifth point grip with the Alcantara interior. The size inside is like the Audi A6.

Advantages : spacious interior. The quality of the materials. Engine box.

disadvantages : price.

Comfort: Terribly uncomfortable sports seats that lack lumbar support, although lateral support is high. Yes, I am a person with a not entirely healthy back, after half an hour of driving, my back starts to ache, my legs become numb, and my heel hurts. Otherwise, there is nothing that I could find fault with in terms of a comfortable ride. Sound insulation is good; music (some improved) at the level. Pits swallows not badly (worse than Murano, but no need to complain). The steering wheel (sports) is comfortable, all the buttons are at hand, the speedometer screen is just a miracle, here BMW and Mercedes look and cry, the gearbox switches great and on time, although, again, on Murano, it seems, it was no worse. Of the minuses - a non-removable screen in the middle. For some reason it seems to me that someday they will definitely break the glass and try to pull it, mistaking it for a tablet, but this is probably a phobia after theft. The handling is excellent. Cons: a terrible, huge, monstrous size cricket somewhere below near the left leg. I don't know what it is, but it feels like it's not even a cricket, but some kind of creature that is about to chop off half my legs. And this is on the new German. I do not know whether to be happy or not, but so far this is the only negative at the moment of the essential. Consumption: 6 liters on the highway, 10 in the city, I do not know whether it will increase or not, while it remains at this level. I understand cars like a pig in oranges, that is, all I know is where to pour water into the washer, and I will not find it in every car, so there were some concerns about the great and terrible "butter oil", but so far everything is in order. So far, the car has not failed, but what could be with the car with such a mileage? I drove an Audi A4 to the Volga, I walked confidently along the highway, it picks up speed pretty well, again I really like the handling. General conclusions: the car is not bad. To be honest, the interior of the car causes wild delight in me, I really like the way it drives, so I won't say that I regretted the purchase, but I also cannot say that I am in a state of euphoria.

Advantages : insulation. Perfectly swallows pits. Comfort. Controllability.

disadvantages : uncomfortable sports seats. The panel screen does not retract.

About my feelings: Audi A4 is an unrealistically cool car, you just stand next to it and enjoy it, not only I noticed it. You open heavy doors, sit inside and the pleasure moves to a new level. The materials fit just perfectly, the joints are unreal, they were made by some crazy people. Ease of landing. In all the cars that I had, I understood that I was sitting. The legs were almost always at a 90 degree angle. In the Audi A4, as soon as you get into the car, you immediately sink into the seats, the body takes on a kind of recumbent stretched state. No seat adjustments can remove this. At first it was unusual, but then I realized how convenient it is. The trunk is generally a separate topic, in depth it is more than on the same Q5, plus / minus in width is the same. And the clearance, even with a body kit, is also quite for itself, it seems to me, like most sedans (most likely this is the merit of an overstated suspension for countries with poor coverage).

Advantages : Car is a pleasure to own.

In the city, you can always get into the silk in the parking lot, despite the size, the car is very compact (all these cameras and front parking sensors are trinkets, the rear ones are enough). And, of course, the chic salon, which to this day evokes emotions among passengers. Externally, the equipment of the Audi A4 is far from top, but the emphasis was on the interior.

Advantages : comfortable salon. Lots of options. Engine operation. Suspension.

disadvantages : the cost of additional options.
