Car oils and everything you need to know about motor oils. Skoda engine oil What kind of oil to fill in Skoda Yeti 1.2

We present to your attention the official answer to the question “ Which engine oil should be used in Skoda cars“! We, in your Skoda service, know that it is Shell helix, keep it in stock and fill these cars. But we often come across such bewilderment of Skoda owners about Shell that we begin to think that we ourselves are not catching up with something. What kind of oil did they try to present to us as the official Skoda oil ... And Castrol, Liqui Moly, and even Pentosin! Of course, each time they brought up emotional arguments, referring now to dealers, now to familiar mechanics, now to forums.

We began to wonder where such conflicting information came from. We called the dealers. We heard from them Mobil, Castrol, Shell.

We called the services specializing in Skoda. They said “I have Castrol on my BMW on the cork, and Skoda is also German”, “What will be available”, “Fuck knows, I’m a receiver and I don’t use oils”, as well as “What you bring, we will fill ”.

We read the forums. It feels like the world champions are gathered there, if not in rallies, then in circuit races for sure! Well, or experts in tuning and finishing engines. One says that he first went to a Castrol dealership, then filled in Liqui Moly and felt an increase in several horsepower. The profile says that he sells contact lenses. How, can you explain, the lens dealer was able to feel the increase in several horses on the Skoda Fabia? Someone writes that at first he poured Mobil, bought in Auchan at a price of 1400 rubles for a five-liter canister, and then bought it for almost the same Mobil for 1600 and the car started to start better ... A third friend said that his mother-in-law does not like oil does not want to change, but wants a saber and a bulldog puppy. In general, it was not possible to get official information from there.

We called the Skoda plant in the Czech Republic. They were offended and replied that oil was never used at all, and that they only had pure hops, malt and water. It turned out that they had called the Krusovice brewery by mistake.

And all would be fine, but after all, we are forced every single day to eliminate the technical illiteracy of the Skoda owners, explaining which oil should be filled. And again we hear something like “And they told me in the store that Liqui Moly is better” ... And they don’t believe, and even try to argue. It's a shame, honestly! It feels like we are trying to deceive everyone and are not dealing with explanations, but excuses.

You need some conclusive proof that Skoda really recommends Shell. This will not be shown on Channel One, there is either no official information on the Internet, or it is not trusted, dealers randomly advise different oils, no one can write anything intelligible on the forums either. If only a Skoda came to us, it would have the coveted Shell badge on the lid or under the hood ... Then we could poke our noses into this badge of all doubters!

And now our prayers have been answered! Skoda Octavia came yesterday for computer diagnostics and troubleshooting, which they could not see in the other two services. We opened the hood and amicably dumbfounded, not believing our eyes!

Skoda engine oil

Here! In English it says in black that Skoda recommends Shell Helix engine oil! Finally! We even made a discount on diagnostics!

To the attention of Skoda car owners! Your vehicles must be filled with engine oil only Shell helix! And the point. Yes, and do not forget that in the Russian Federation, you need to change engine oil once every 7,500 kilometers... The only way. No 15,000 kilometers from replacement to replacement! Have pity on your motor. Who cares why, call, we will advise. Well, do not forget that engine oil has so-called tolerances, which must also be taken into account. Oil with a 502/505 tolerance can be purchased under the article, and oil with a 504/507 tolerance (more stringent and modern tolerance) under the article.

Which oil to replace and when?

17. Close the oil filler neck. We wash the valve cover if oil is spilled.

18. We start the engine, let it run for 2-3 minutes, then turn it off and let it stand for 3 minutes in order to glass the oil. We look at the oil level, if the oil level is slightly above the middle, then do not add oil, if not, add oil.
From the min mark to the max mark, approximately 0.7-0.8 liters of oil is included.

REDUCE

Changing the engine oil on a Skoda Yeti car is one of the most important maintenance work provided for by the regulations. High-quality engine oil ensures stable and reliable operation of the internal combustion engine. By saving on it or on the oil filter, you will spend incomparably more money on the subsequent repair of the Skoda Yeti engine.

What functions does engine oil perform?

The role of this fluid in engine operation can hardly be overestimated. The engine oil circulates continuously through the lubrication system. It not only reduces friction at the contact points of moving parts, but also provides heat dissipation. Another important function is cleaning the system from wear products. The fact is that the parts of the Skoda Yeti engine wear out.

This process is accompanied by the formation of fine metal chips, which, when re-entering the contact points, causes increased wear. These chips will enter the engine oil, which cycles through the oil filter. Debris and other impurities remain in the oil filter, and the purified fluid continues to circulate through the system.

What are the consequences of untimely replacement

Over time, this liquid loses its properties and becomes dirty. If it is not replaced in a timely manner, it will ineffectively perform its functions. Engine oil will begin to burn out in the cylinders, forming carbon deposits, which will reduce the efficiency of the cylinder-piston group of the Skoda engine. The fluid will no longer be able to properly lubricate the parts, which will lead to their intense wear.

Over time, the Skoda engine oil filter becomes clogged. If this happens, the liquid through the check valve will bypass the filter. This will further aggravate the situation and lead to intensive wear of the Skoda Yeti engine. In this case, the temperature of the rubbing parts rises, which leads to their thermal expansion. And this can already cause the mechanism to jam, which will lead to engine damage. Such repairs cost a lot of money.

When to perform this procedure

This operation must be carried out in accordance with the maintenance regulations for the Skoda Yeti car. The regulation provides for the replacement of engine oil at intervals equal to 15,000 mileage. When operating Skoda Yeti in difficult conditions, an increase in the frequency of service is allowed.

How does this happen

This process is not very complex and does not require special skills. It is necessary to install the machine in the inspection pit. Dismantle the filler cap and the drain plug by placing a container under it in advance, in which you plan to collect mining. Wait for the waste to drain into the container and dismantle the oil filter.

Although the mining stopped flowing, part of it remained in the pallet. This is due to the design of the pallet and the layout of the drain. The remaining waste can be removed through the dipstick holes using special equipment or fixtures.

Tighten the drain plug. Take a new oil filter in your hand, fill it halfway with clean fluid and install it on the engine using a special tool. A half filled oil filter will increase the pumping speed of the system and reduce the operating time of the internal combustion engine in adverse conditions. Pour fluid into the motor through the filler neck. We will talk about the required volume and requirements for oil a little later. Start the engine of your Skoda Yeti and let it idle for a few minutes. Check fluid level and top up if necessary.

How to check the level

You can check the level with the Yeti dipstick. To do this, remove it, wipe it, insert it back and remove it again. By the traces on the surface of the probe, you can determine this very level. The dipstick has special marks that allow you to adhere to the desired level. The optimal level is the key to efficient operation of the Skoda engine.

What and how much to fill

Timely oil change will not only increase the efficiency of the engine, but also create the most favorable conditions for the operation of its components and assemblies. In addition, compliance with the manufacturer's regulations is a prerequisite for maintaining a vehicle warranty.
