Is it possible to overload the caravan trailer and, if so, how much?

Let's reflect on this topic. The caravan manufacturing plant buys the frame and axle (s) from contractor manufacturers. As a rule, these are AL-KO and BWP. So, these axles have the maximum permissible load. If your axle load limit is 1300 kg (typically), then by loading more, you are putting an expensive purchase at unnecessary risk. Thus, if the mass of an empty caravan caravan is 1100 kg, and a full one (based on the capabilities of the axle) is 1300, then you have the opportunity to painlessly, from the point of view of the manufacturer, load 200 kg. What is 200 kg? Is it a lot or a little? Let's count.

I have seen in my lifetime overloaded trailers with front luggage compartments torn off (there are gas cylinders there), and with front and side walls separated from each other.

What is the minimum engine size required to transport a caravan?

See the table on page 147 for details. In my opinion, the minimum engine size is 1.8 liters and a manual transmission is preferable. If your car is not in the table, then you need to find in the table the most similar car in terms of gross weight and engine volume.

Does fuel consumption increase when transporting a caravan trailer?

Based on my practice of operating caravan caravans, in this case, there is an increase in fuel consumption from 25 to 40%, depending on the driving style you choose.

What is the maximum permissible speed with a caravan-caravan while driving?
