We paint the car in camouflage ourselves. Do-it-yourself camouflage on a car: simple technology and excellent result We prepare a car for painting with our own hands

Today, such a method of tuning a car as painting a body in camouflage is beginning to be in great demand. Below in this article we will tell you in detail how to make camouflage on a car with your own hands.

Materials and tools

To implement the painting process for creating camouflage with your own hands, you should acquire and prepare the following set of tools and materials:

Car preparation

Summer is considered the best time to paint a car body, since warm weather and lack of humidity are optimal conditions for various painting work.

You can paint the car in camouflage yourself in the garage, but it is better to do it in a perfectly clean and spacious box. It is important that there are no adverse factors in the room, especially dust.

Preparatory work begins with a thorough gluing of all unpainted areas, and then you can start painting work. You need to completely cover the following details:

  • headlights;
  • door frames;
  • glass.

If paint comes into contact with these areas during use, remove it carefully with a solvent. After that, degrease the surface of the body with a lint-free cloth previously soaked in gasoline.

Camouflage with film

It is convenient to use vinyl in this process. Of course, the overall cost of this method will not change much, but the process will go faster. This is done as follows:

  1. Preliminary cutting of the film into large fragments. Holes need to be made in them, which will become stains in the future.
  2. Preliminary preparation of the vinyl sheet. It needs to be glued on the car and on those areas that are left uncovered using a unique technology.
  3. This procedure is repeated with brown and green colors. The stencil film, which is designed to create brown spots, is glued in such a way that it covers all previously created black spots. As for the green color, the spots overlap black and brown.
  4. After complete painting of the body, all layers of the film, without exception, are removed. If you don't like crisp contours, airbrush the finish.
  5. The final stage of work is the application of a layer of varnish.

We cover the body with varnish

Experts advise to cover the body with a special varnish, which creates a matte effect. This composition gives a velvety surface structure. It should be noted that the technology of varnishing does not differ from traditional varnishing.

Before applying the varnish is diluted with a solvent and a hardener is added to it. The quantity should be exactly as indicated in the instructions. Often these parameters change from layer to layer. For example, for the lower one, a composition of a more liquid consistency is used, characterized by high fluidity. For the last layer, a more concentrated composition is used - a thicker one.

The varnish is applied to the car body in 2-3 layers, and before applying each of them, you need to pause so that the composition has time to dry. You can check it with your hands: when your fingers stop sticking, apply the next layer.

The car will look even more original if you make large spots. They have to capture different body parts. A special protective screen is created along the contour of the spots, which can be made from newspapers. With it, you can avoid staining excess areas black.

You should start drawing stains on the body after 2-3 hours, that is, after the previously applied stains have completely dried. To make the camouflage of the car as solid as possible, the spots must be painted with an overlap. The application of two coats provides an opaque and rich color. This applies to green color shades - it is the lightest. When drawing spots, move clockwise.

Let's sum up

Do-it-yourself painting of a car body in camouflage camouflage is in high demand, since this tuning option distinguishes cars from the total mass of vehicles on the roads. The main thing here is not to overdo it, since camouflage should not occupy more than half of the total body area.

Every car owner wants his car to stand out from other vehicles, and the main way to stand out has always been and remains the external tuning of the car body. Recently, tuning for camouflage has become increasingly popular in this matter, although it has always been popular among fans of hunting and fishing. But whatever the reason for the popularity of camouflage on a car, today we are only interested in the question of how to make camouflage on a car without the help of specialists. We will talk about this below.

Types of camouflage and how to apply it to the car

To “dress” your car in camouflage, you can simply contact the service center and pick up your transformed car in a few days. But this option is not entirely profitable financially, so you should at least try to make camouflage on a car with your own hands. And before proceeding with the direct painting, it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the types of camouflage, among which you can choose an option for yourself.

Among all existing types of camouflage, four main ones are distinguished today:

Assumes the use of a white background against which gray and black spots with pointed corners are applied. This type is also referred to as urban camouflage.

Mostly only sandy shades are used - yellow, brown and gray for contrast. For this reason, this type of camouflage is also called sand.

It is most difficult to make such a camouflage at home, but only if you do not resort to using vinyl film on which such a pattern has already been applied. In this case, the most different color combinations can be used and even repeat all the above types. The peculiarity of digital camouflage is the form of color spots, which look like a highly enlarged digital pattern, consisting of a large number of squares.

Forest or military camouflage Is just an imitation of a protective military color, which can be modified in different ways depending on your wishes.

What tools will you need to create camouflage on a car with your own hands

Painting a car in camouflage cannot be carried out without preliminary preparation of the necessary tools and materials, the set of which will vary depending on how you decided to do the job.

What tools can you use to make camouflage without a stencil?

If you decide on a similar method of applying camouflage, it means that it is not the first time for you to work with paint and with its application on a car, since working without a stencil is actually very difficult. To do this, you will have to use:

A huge amount of old newspapers or other paper (for example, you can tear your old student notes).

Large supply of masking tape of various thicknesses (5 rolls of narrow and the same amount of wide).

Clean and dry flannel rags.

About 200 g of gasoline.

500 g of paint thinner.

A special varnish for application to the car body (it can have a glossy or matte effect, so it's up to you to choose).

1 KW halogen lamp.

Construction trowel (it is most convenient to work with a tool whose width is 70 mm).

Auto enamel. Often it is sold in pressurized cans, in this form it should be taken. In order to cover the entire car body with it, you will need about 4 cans of each color.

Tools for painting a car in camouflage using a stencil

For this method of applying camouflage, you, first of all, need to decide in advance on the type of pattern and the size of color spots on the camouflage. Then prepare vinyl or very heavy cardboard from which you can cut the stencil. But in addition to it, all the same tools will be useful to you in your work as when creating camouflage without a stencil.

Camouflage vinyl wrapping of the car

This is the simplest job of applying camouflage, since it involves the presence of a vinyl film of the required color and its gluing to the car body. To do this, in addition to the film, you also need to prepare:

Sharp knife for cutting film edges.

A special spray that needs to process the film during gluing.

Rubber and felt squeegees, which are useful for leveling the film and removing air from under it.

Building hair dryer.

Film edge sealant.

Features of preparing a car for painting

To carry out painting, you need to prepare a garage or any other convenient place for you under a canopy, where there would also be reliable ventilation (in working with vinyl, this issue will not be so acute). The garage must be cleaned thoroughly and preferably with a wet cloth to remove all dust. After that, you should also take care of the car:

1 ... Remove all dirt from the body surface with water.

2. Allow the car time to dry and dismantle all elements that may be splashed with paint (if you do not want to dismantle them, they can be sealed with tape or film).

3. Degrease the surface of the body by wiping it with a cloth soaked in gasoline. Please note that after this procedure, no fluff should remain on the surface of the body.

If during the preparation of the body you notice the swelling of the old paintwork, before applying a new coat of paint it must be removed with a spatula, having previously warmed up with a lamp.

How is the process of applying paint to a car when creating camouflage?

So how do you paint a car in camouflage with your own hands? The whole process of doing the job will differ significantly, depending on the chosen method of creating camouflage. We will analyze each of these methods separately.

Painting a car in camouflage without a stencil

This method of painting is quite long in time and at the same time it greatly limits us in the choice of a pattern, since it is very difficult to apply complex shapes without a stencil. In general, the procedure for creating camouflage on a car is carried out as follows:

1. Using the narrowest masking tape, we create the shape of the future drawing on the surface of the body. Try not to bend the tape, otherwise paint will seep under it and spoil the integrity of the picture.

2. Place newspapers around the spots you created so that the paint does not fly beyond the outlined boundaries. It is better to secure newspapers with wide tape.

3. First, apply the darkest color from the range of colors you have chosen. After drying, we cover it with another layer so that the color is more saturated, and the paint layer is more reliable.

4. When the stains of the same color are completely dry, the tape and newspapers must be removed and new stains formed. Note that the second color should match the first a little.

5. We also apply the second color in two layers. In this case, do not rush - be sure to wait until all layers are completely dry. Apply the lightest layer of paint last.

6. Finally, we remove all the remnants of masking tape and newspapers that were glued to the body and inspect our work. If during the application of the paint it got “in the wrong place”, it should be removed with a common solvent.

7. We cover the entire body with a special car varnish to make the paint even. To do this, do not forget to add a special fixer and solvent to the varnish, using the proportions indicated in the instructions. The varnish must also be applied in several layers.

How to make a camouflage for a car with a stencil?

The principle of applying paint in this case remains the same as without a stencil. The only difference is that you don't have to fool around with tape and newspapers - you just glue the stencil in the right places and fill this hole with paint.

The only drawback of this method of creating camouflage is that all spots on the car are the same in size. If you want variety, you still have to spend a lot of time cutting stencils. But if you want to get an excellent result and a truly unique body color, such a problem will not be an obstacle for you.

How to make camouflage vinyl on a car?

Pasting a car with camouflage film is probably the easiest way not only to transform the appearance of your car, but also to cover its body with a protective layer of film. It is applied as follows:

1. First, try your film on the car body and make marks on it with masking tape where you want to cut. But before you start cutting, keep in mind that a little more film will be needed on uneven and curved places. It is better to cut off the remains after the sticker.

2. Using a special spray, we process the adhesive surface of the film and apply it to the surface of the car body. At this point, the location of the vinyl can still be adjusted and leveled.

3. Take a rubber squeegee and flatten the film. Try to make sure that not a single air bubble remains under it.

4. To make the film even better and adhere to the body, go over its surface with a construction hairdryer.

Important! Do not overdo it with a building hair dryer, as you risk damaging the integrity of the film by too high a temperature.

5. Particular attention should be paid to the folds. Try to flatten the film perfectly, which can only be done with additional heating.

6. Run a felt squeegee over the surface of the film to flatten it completely. Warm up again with a hairdryer if necessary.

7. Cut off the overhanging edges of the film with a knife and seal all edges with sealant to prevent the film from peeling off over time.

Please note that after applying the film to the body, the car should be left in the garage for at least 12 hours. Only after that, the gluing process can be considered complete, but even with this in mind, it is not recommended to wash the car for another week.

The advantages of each type of camouflage

If you cannot finally decide on what type of camouflage to apply on your car, here is advantages each of the above:

Ideal not only for camouflaging a car in winter, when mud mixed with snow makes the landscape white-gray-black. In summer, in nature, such a car, in principle, will not give any disguise, but in the city it will become an excellent urban attribute. But at the same time, dirt is practically invisible on the surface of such a car, because, drying up on the body, it will become part of the tuning.

considered to be the most modern, preferred by the younger generation. It has lost its purpose as a disguise and is used exclusively as a decorative one.

These colors are mainly painted by those who know firsthand what the desert is. Desert camouflage is more suitable for the fall period, although it will also provide excellent camouflage in summer and spring.

Well done forest camouflage It differs not only in that it provides a good camouflage in the forest, but also makes the car military-like solid. In fact, this is the most striking camouflage option.

It is also worth mentioning the vinyl film, which can combine all the listed types of camouflage on cars. But, in addition to its attractive appearance, with its use you get:

Additional protection of the body from unexpected damage, and in some cases even from dents.

The original paintwork of the car will be reliably preserved under the vinyl film. If you wish, in a couple of years you can remove the vinyl and drive the car again without camouflage.

Such a car coating is quite durable, especially if you take into account all the operating rules.

The ability to transform the appearance of the car without seeking help from specialists.

In general, I would like to note that no matter what color option you choose, if you have the required amount of time and enough desire, you can paint any vehicle at home. Moreover, the costs in this case will be minimal.

Recently, camouflage painting of a car has become popular. Perhaps even the fashion for it will be in the 2011 season, change the fashion for.
Today is a selection of camouflage color options (painting) of the car.

Let's consider what types of camouflage are used. Let's see examples of successful and unsuccessful paintings, a couple of bonuses and my recommendation for camouflage car paintwork. Beware, a lot of pictures, letters and usefulness

Camouflage problem on the car

The main problem with camouflage on a car is the scale and intensity of the pattern. This problem comes from the opposite problem. In life, military or hunters, camouflage is needed to disguise a car. For tuning, camouflage needs to show off purely, what can we hide?
This is where the understanding comes that the intensity and scale must be selected, practically empirically.

Example. Look at two items in camouflage

Different scales for the face, not just the face. Therefore, there is no ready-made solution for a scale for a car. We'll have to make mock-ups on a computer and see which is better or worse.
Actually, this material will help you - you can look at ready-made solutions and evaluate.

How to apply camouflage

I'm not sure if a regular airbrush can paint camouflage. Newfangled vinyl is here to help. Perhaps the best solution is digitally printed film to wrap around the car. We put the drawing on the necessary film, pasted over the car and hurray.
Fortunately, nowadays, only in a very lazy city there are no offices that glues vinyl to cars. And it's not so difficult to do it yourself.

Forest camouflage by car

Classics, as they say. Variants of forest military camouflage can be different from NATO woodland to the colors of the Soviet army.
Look how well done the Porsche, it's also matte, too.

A slightly different version. The matte shade also works a plus!

And here is an example of an unsuccessful coloring. What I said about the airbrush. A man of art and a military man in one head get along only if the warrant officer receives an artist's blood transfusion and then the military man wins.

They also painted the smart without much understanding, it turned out well on the whole, but the gloss spoils the look.

For comparison, this is matte woodland camouflage. The drawing will be simpler, but matte again pulls out.

It seems to me that woodland camouflage is suitable for a very limited number of vehicles. My advice - if the car has a beautiful body kit - DO NOT use forest camouflage colors. Conversely, it's a good solution for a stock look.

Digital camouflage

The famous digital, the dream of technological militarists.
It looks really cool on the car. And in different shades, for example, desert, like this Lamborghini

Also notice how digital camouflage works well with other colors and patterns.

For example, here's a paint job for a drift car.

And the dual body color and lettering and carbon fit perfectly into this digital camouflage.

It is so good that this idea in a seamless form was put together by the Che Drift team, it's not for nothing that the revolutionaries are Chegevars, the general means nobody.
They did it nicely too

Digital camouflage is a very good solution for custom bodywork and color combinations. I recommend. Just don’t take this hackneyed combination. Use other colors.

Desert camouflage

Desert classic. Fetish of Arabs and Afghan veterans.

Both the scale and the color of the desert camouflage on this Porsche sedan are very well chosen. It looks really great, despite the fact that initially the car is terrible in appearance - the camouflage hid all the horrors.

And here is an easier option, also neat and tasteful. Audi A3

Please note, the creators of this car image took a light shade + mat and it turned out great. Despite the camouflage, the body kit and body lines are clearly visible.

Well, this is a harsh classic of the genre. Lamborghini military :)

I cite these pictures purely in order to show how, due to the scale of camouflage, you can successfully emphasize the brutality and chopped body shapes.

Winter camouflage

May be a good solution for a white and light-colored body.
See how great the camouflage livery of this Ferrari was.

And here is a slightly different combination, on Evolution

The scale is different, but it also turned out well - it was possible to disguise the disproportionately elongated mid-rear part of the car. Even a thick "eighth" bumper looks quite passable in this camouflage

Another lambo. Another scale. Again, the chopped shapes were highlighted with successful large spots of camouflage.

And here are again examples of "designer" camouflage, which frankly did not work out. A vulgar and incomprehensible primitive drawing. And this, by the way, is the official drawing from the Volvo designers!

Subara is also unsuccessful. Too much intensity and too light.

Hunting camouflage

A wonderful direction in camouflage - civil, hunting. Nothing to do with the military style in its idea. Looks fresh and pleasant. That's how funny the Prius was made. Like all this eco-friendly, electric car and trawl

But the real hunting camouflage will look on the jeep.
Even I, who considers it a disease, quite like this view of the jeeps.

Moreover, the standard and modified jeep looks really good. Because everything is in its place - the place of a jeep in the forest, its color is hunting.

and now, before the most interesting, a few bonus pictures.

These are the brutal additions to camouflage livery:

By the way, it is also a very simple and elegant solution for the military style - just a matte dark green body color + antennas. And immediately the association with military equipment.

And this is how you can make a salon in jeeps with hunting camouflage. Besides the style, it is also very practical.

Now for the interesting part.

Fashionable camouflage colors

Camouflage style 6 - hi-tech camouflage or UFO camouflage. Look at the possible colors

And there are many such color combinations. Feel free to open google, type ufo camo there and look for inspiration. Combine bright, acid colors.
The car will look bright and unusual. In Russia, there are very, very few such colors, almost none.

Today, such a direction as painting a car in camouflage is becoming more and more popular in the field of car tuning. In this article, using the UAZ as an example, we will show how you can "disguise" a car with your own hands.

Required materials and tools

  • aerosol paint in cans (4 cans of black, brown and green pigment), as well as vinyl film (depending on how the camouflage pattern will be applied to the car);
  • varnish with a matte effect;
  • polish with a sponge;
  • solvent No. 469 (0.5 liters);
  • gasoline (200 ml);
  • special painting spatula (width 7 cm);
  • clean flannel rags;
  • halogen lamp with a capacity of 1,000 watts;

  • as many old newspapers as possible;
  • paper masking tape (wide and narrow - 5 rolls each).
  • We prepare a car for painting with our own hands

    The best time to paint a car is summer, because warm weather and lack of moisture are the best conditions for painting. recommended to be carried out in a garage or in a clean spacious box. The main thing is to completely eliminate such a negative factor as dust, both in the air and on the surface, otherwise the camouflage pattern may not turn out as attractive as we would like.

    We glue the unpainted surfaces with a newspaper. Click on the photo to enlarge.

    We start preparing the car by glueing all the unpainted areas with old newspapers. We attach them to a wide masking tape. We completely cover the optics, glass, door frames and sealing rubber. If at the end of all the work it turns out that the paint still got on one of these parts, carefully treat the stained area with a solvent.

    Then, we degrease the surface of the car with a lint-free cloth soaked in gasoline. It is not recommended to use a solvent for these purposes, as it acts too aggressively and can not only clean the surface, but also damage the factory paintwork.

    When trying to paint such an area with paint from a spray can, the coating can become a "fur coat". If this still happens, we take a halogen lamp in our hands, heat the surface, and then completely remove the paint with a spatula. If this is not done, the “fur coat” may reappear when the paint is reapplied.

    We "mask" the car with paints

    You can answer the question of how to "camouflage" color in different ways. Camouflage on the car body is drawn manually or using a stencil. The first method is, of course, preferable, because then the camouflage will look more natural. On the other hand, using a stencil can save you time. Let's dwell in more detail on creating a drawing with our own hands.

    The first paint color we are going to work with is black. We will create the contours of the spots using a narrow masking tape 2 cm wide. It fits well and allows you to create smoother lines on the body. In addition, the paper masking tape can be easily removed from the body without damaging the paintwork. You should pay special attention to the fact that the tape adheres tightly to the surface, without forming folds and creases, in which paint can accumulate, otherwise the contour may not turn out very neat.

    The car will look more original if the spots are made large, capturing different elements of the body. A protective "screen" of newspapers is formed along the contour of the spots. It will not allow us to paint the extra areas black. After that, we apply black spray paint to all the spots. You can start painting spots of a different color only after 3 hours, when the black spots are completely dry. Next, we have to paint some areas on the body of the car brown, and then green. Draw the spots in the same way as before.

    It is important that they overlap: this is the only way to make the camouflage one-piece. We apply each color of paint in two layers to ensure a deep opaque color. This is especially true of green, since it is the lightest. When drawing spots, move clockwise from the starboard side, not forgetting about the roof and body pillars.

    View of the car after painting. Click on the photo to enlarge.

    When the camouflage painting is completed and the pigment of all three colors is completely dry, we remove all the newspapers and tape and proceed to varnishing the car.

    We suggest applying a matte finish to the body. Today, matte varnishes such as “soft touch” are very popular, which give the coating a velvety texture. The technique of working with such compositions is no different from ordinary varnishing:

    Immediately before application, a solvent and a hardener are added to the varnish in the proportions indicated on the package. Often these parameters change from layer to layer: for the lower one - a more liquid and fluid composition, for the finishing one - a thicker and more concentrated one.

    However, if you do not have too much experience in this area, it is better to strictly follow the manufacturer's directions.

    The varnish is applied in 2 - 3 layers and must be kept for some time to dry each. If, when you touch the coating, your fingers still stick, but no longer lubricate the varnish, you can start applying the next layer.

    How to create camouflage on a car using vinyl film

    When painting a car in camouflage, it is very convenient to use vinyl film. Of course, the total cost of painting will not change from this, but the process will go much faster. The general scheme for working with vinyl film is as follows:

  1. the film is pre-cut into large pieces, in which holes are made - these will be our spots.
  2. the prepared vinyl sheet is glued to the car, and those parts of the body that have remained open are spray-painted in black.
  3. repeat the same procedure with brown and green colors. We glue the stencil film for brown spots so that it partially overlaps the black spots, and in the case of green spots - so that the spots overlap on black and brown spots. Don't forget to thoroughly dry each color pigment!
  4. when the entire body of the car is painted, all layers of the film are removed. If you are not satisfied with the clear contours of the spots, you can rework with an airbrush.

Note to car owners

Painting a car in a "camouflage" color is original, it will definitely be noticeable from afar. However, it is important not to overdo it here: the camouflage should occupy no more than 50% of the total area of \u200b\u200bthe car body, otherwise you risk being fined by the traffic police.
