The Renault K7J 1.4 engine is used for installation on Renault Logan, Renault Sandero, Renault Clio cars.
Features. The Renault K7J engine is a continuation of the old ExJ engines, so it has a slightly archaic cylinder head design, high fuel consumption, given the engine capacity of 1.4 liters. But with all the shortcomings, this engine has a high maintainability. Cars with such a motor lack dynamics, and many car owners prefer a more voluminous version.
The resource of the Renault K7J 1.4 engine is large enough for a gasoline engine and amounts to about 400 thousand kilometers.

Service

Oil change for Renault K7J 1.4 engine. It is necessary to change the oil on Renault Logan, Sandero, Clio cars with a Renault K7J 1.4 engine every 15 thousand km or a year of operation. With intensive engine wear conditions (driving in city traffic jams, working in a taxi, etc.), it is advisable to change the oil every 7-8 thousand km.
What kind of oil to pour into the engine: type 5W-40, 5W-30, Renault-approved Elf Excellium 5W40 oil filled from the factory.
How much oil to pour: when replacing with a filter, 3.4 liters of oil are required, without changing the oil filter - about 3 liters.
Original engine oil filter: 7700274177 or 8200768913 (both filters are interchangeable).
Replacing the timing belt on an engine 1.4 it is better every 60 thousand km, since when it breaks, the valves bend. Valve adjustment will also be required, due to the lack of hydraulic lifters for the K7J.
Replacing the air filter produced every 30 thousand km of run or 2 years of operation.

The French small car Renault Logan was developed by Dacia specifically for countries with emerging economies. The budget model was supposed to fill the market for low-cost sedans, while offering decent car quality. Production of Logan started in 2004 and today the car is produced in the second generation.

In different countries, Logan is known under different brands depending on the specifics of local markets (Nissan, Renault or Dacia). The car has a spacious trunk of 510 liters, a line of motors powerful enough for its category and is a reference representative of the family class. In 2010, Logan succumbed to a minor "facelift", after which he appeared in front of the auto world with an updated look. As for the engines, the model is equipped with installations with a working volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters with a capacity of 75 (1.4) to 113 hp. At the same time, the 1.6-liter versions have 3 modifications with 86, 102 and 113 hp. and an average fuel consumption of 7.2, 8.4 and 6.4 liters per 100 km, respectively. The same oil is poured into the motors (more on this later). Despite its technical data, the weakest 1.6l engine is capable of breaking the 100 km / h mark in 11.9 seconds and accelerating on the highway to a maximum of 172 km / h. The most charged version takes a hundred in 10.7 seconds and accelerates to 177 km / h. Power plants work in tandem with mechanics or an automatic machine.

The new generation of Logan 2012 differs from its predecessor with an updated interior, comfortable seats and a modern look. Now the budget category does not prevent the model from competing with more expensive cars. This is why this subcompact car is hugely popular in the aftermarket and is mostly used for taxi operations.

The timeliness of changing the oil in the engine is the key to maintaining the performance of the rubbing elements. A high-quality liquid is able to prevent their premature wear and reduce the intensity of clogging of the lubricating circuit of the unit by abrasive products from abrasion. Many car owners are interested in the question of which oil to fill?

Renault Logan cars are mostly equipped with 8-valve Renault engines: "K7M1.6" and "K7J1.4", as well as 16-valve engines - "K4M1.6". The latter are endowed with a slightly increased specific output. They are also characterized by better mixture formation. But the 8-valve "brothers" boast of significant reliability, constructive simplicity and maintainability. However, when asked what oil to pour into the engine in different versions of the model, experts answer that there is no fundamental difference in this.

With standard operation, the Renault Logan engine resource can reach 400 thousand km.

So how is the correct oil to fill? Here is the difference between these units in terms of the volume of engine oil poured into them:

  • 1.6-liter 16-valve version (K4M) - 4.8 liters;
  • 1.4-liter 8-valve variation (K7J) - 3.35 liters;
  • 1.6 liter 8-valve version (K7J) - 3.4 liters.

And what kind of oil to fill if you do not change the filter? If it is intended to change the oil without changing the filter element, then these volumes should be reduced by 0.3 liters. It is recommended to carry out an oil change complete with a filter, since this element (not characterized by a high cost) prevents lubricant wear caused by the appearance of abrasive particles in its environment - products of the abrasion process.

What kind of oil to pour into a 1.4-liter engine? It is recommended to change the lubricant in Renault Logan engines in version 1.6 and 1.4 after every 15 thousand km of run. If the operating conditions of the engine are very harsh, then the oil change interval should be reduced to about 8 thousand km. Such conditions should mean the following:

  • the beginning of movement without warming up the Renault Logan engine (especially important when operating with lubricant filled in before the change of season, when in winter or summer the outside air temperature reaches critical values);
  • aggressive acceleration dynamics, accompanied by an exorbitant load on the unit.

When checking the oil level in the crankcase, you can visually assess its condition and assess the degree of need for replacement. The liquid should not have a black color and give off a burnt smell. If these factors are present, the grease requires urgent replacement.

How to choose the right oil?

What is the best oil to fill? It is recommended by the Renault brand to use ELF Evolution SXR grease with 5W40 or 5W30 ratings for Renault Logan engines. Alternatively, it is possible to use a synthetic substance that is suitable for the regulatory temperature criterion:

  • "5W40";
  • "5W30";
  • sometimes - "0W30 AM".

When changing the lubricant, it is necessary to change the O-ring on the drain plug and the filter element.

The specifications for these consumables are as follows:

  • for the sealing ring for the plug - 11026 5505R.
  • for oil filter element - 7700274177 or 8200768913 (both options are identical).

Algorithm of actions for replacement in a 1.6-liter Logan unit

    1. We unscrew the plug on the neck for filling the lubricant.
    2. Under the crankcase of the Renault Logan engine version 1.4 and 1.6, respectively, we substitute a suitable container for the collection of "working off".
    3. We remove the plastic protective plate of the crankcase (on the "8-valve" valves it is possible not to dismantle the protection, since it has a technological cutout for the drain plug).
    4. Unscrew the drain plug on the pallet (with a square profile key to "9").
    5. We are waiting for the grease to drain in full.
    6. During this time, we unscrew the body of the old filter element (we use a puller or other available means: a screwdriver, part of an emery sheet, etc.).
    7. Before installing a new element on Renault Logan, lubricate its rubber ring with "fresh" oil.
    8. We install the filter by screwing its body onto the threaded landing channel in the motor by hand.
    9. Do not forget to install the sealing washer on the drain plug (consumable code - 1026 5505R).
    10. Fill in new grease.
    11. The position of the fluid level should be slightly below the “MAX” mark on the dipstick.
    12. We tighten the filler cap on the valve cover.
    13. We start the engine and give it the opportunity to run for 5-6 minutes.
    14. We jam and wait for 15-20 minutes.
    15. We control the level - should be between the "MIN" - "MAX" marks.
    16. We inspect the location of the filter housing and drain plug and make sure there are no leaks.
    17. In order to correctly control the quality of lubrication in the Renault Logan engine, the mileage at which this process was performed should be noted.

Now you have made a conclusion for yourself what kind of oil to pour into the car engine. It is recommended to flush the system with grease from the same manufacturer before filling. To do this, pour about 1 liter of oil into the crankcase, start the engine and let it run for several minutes. We muffle and proceed to drain the grease. Flushing is carried out with the old filter element, along with which contaminants will be removed during replacement.

Renault Logan is a super compact model for developing countries. The main production is located on the territory of Romania. In the CIS, only assembly shops have been launched since 2005. The range of engines does not have a large selection. These are gasoline units 1.4, 1.6 liters and diesel units with a volume of 1.5 liters in an eight-valve design. The engine has a front layout. The model is characterized mainly positively.

Many users are interested in the question of which engine oil to pour into the Renault Logan 1.6 8 valve engine. This is due to the large selection in car dealerships, and it is difficult for car owners to settle on a specific one.

Consider the types of fluids approved by the automaker. The automaker itself recommends the ELF Evolution SXR 5W40, but this is not always the best option.

The mileage of the model should be considered. When it comes to urgent repairs, including overhaul, it is allowed to use mineral or semi-synthetic oil at the pre-repair stage.

The masters say: in the last month before a major overhaul, you will not harm the unit. Allowing such a state of the car is a sign of unsatisfactory care of the car owner. Such situations are often the exception. To increase the service life of a car, it is necessary to carry out maintenance and fill in the original engine oil.

Lubricant selection

Any liquid can be poured into the Renault Logan power unit, but not all will benefit. At this stage, inexperienced car owners often make the mistake of filling the cheapest oil. Users also often save money on maintenance. Lubrication recommendations can be obtained by referring to the instructions that suggest 5W40 or 30.

The base is exclusively synthetic, regardless of the engine. Experienced motorists fill it "by eye", despite the instruction manual. According to the existing regulations for a 1.6 liter unit, the capacity is 4.8 liters. Exceeding or underfilling entails negative consequences for the engine and leads to the need for overhaul.

What kind of oil should you fill?

Timely replacement of fluids in the engine is the key to the performance of the unit. High quality engine oil will prevent wear, reduce clogging of the engine circuit by abrasive products. Logan models often have eight-valve "K7M1.6" engines. Eight-valve units are distinguished by their structural simplicity, high reliability, and maintainability. Experts do not find much difference in which lubricant to fill in different versions of the Logan model.

If the lubricating fluid is filled without replacing the filter, the filling must be reduced by 0.3 liters. The engine oil should be changed complete with the filter, as it prevents oil wear due to abrasive particles. The engine oil in 1.6l power units should be changed after 15000 km. Under severe operating conditions, the interval is reduced to 8000 km.

Difficult conditions mean driving without warming up the engine at critical temperatures, acceleration with a significant load on the engine.

When checking the crankcase fluid level, a visual assessment is made. The liquid should not be black with a burnt odor. If this is found, an urgent replacement is required. When changing engine oil, the ring and filter must be changed.

What are oils?

Regular Renault maintenance is a guarantee of the durability of the car's units. Changing engine oil is a critical process that requires regularity. To perform an engine oil change on your own, you will need certain knowledge and consistency in performing work.

  1. Mineral is unstable and capricious, it is not recommended for use at low temperatures, but it is cheaper than synthetic.
  2. Semi-synthetic is recommended for high mileage cars. It is thicker than synthetic and less prone to leakage, provides easy starting.
  3. Synthetic is used on any modern engine. It has maximum fluidity, it is characterized by stable characteristics, it is used in frost and high temperatures.

Car owners are ambivalent about the analogues of engine oil. It differs in price, but users have different incomes. But 50% believe that it is necessary to fill in the liquid recommended by the manufacturer. As for the filter, it is better to overpay, but not spoil the quality oil when the old one fails.

According to the experience of car owners, Mann, Fram, etc. are suitable from analogs. Replacement should be performed with the same or analogue. This oil does not leave carbon deposits in the unit. If the origin of the used engine oil is unknown, it is necessary to flush the power unit with special means. By following simple recommendations, you can prolong the operation of the engine.

The engine contains many rubbing parts - pistons, rings, crankshaft. All of them require high quality lubrication. In its absence, there is a huge output. The most common problem is cylinder scuffing. Therefore, it is so important to monitor the oil level and replace it on time. In today's article, we will look at how the oil in the engine is changed on a Renault Logan car.

Resource

The French manufacturer claims that this operation should be performed every 15 thousand kilometers. But in dusty and harsh conditions, this figure should be halved.

We also note that the optimal solution would be to change the Renault Logan oil by engine hours. The interval is 350 hours. But it is worth noting that not everyone has an on-board computer in the car that will read this data. Therefore, the best option is to change the Renault Logan oil every 10 thousand kilometers.

Signs

Also, the condition of the lubricant can be determined visually. Taking out the dipstick, pay attention to the shade and consistency of the liquid. If it is thick and black in color, it means that it needs an urgent replacement. Another bad sign is the presence of a burning smell on such a probe. This suggests that the car was operated in difficult conditions.

What kind of casting?

So, what kind of oil to fill in the Renault Logan engine? the manufacturer recommends using a product from the Elf company. This is a series of products "Evolution" and "Competence". As for the viscosity, it can be different.

The most liquid lubricant recommended for use has a 5W30 parameter. The thickest is 15W50 according to the international API classification. But it should be noted that the viscosity depends on the climate in which the vehicle will be used. The colder, the higher the parameter. Practice has shown that the optimal viscosity for middle latitudes in Russia is 15W40. Such oil does not lose its characteristics at temperatures from -20 to +30 and more degrees Celsius. You should also purchase a new oil filter for Renault Logan. Its price ranges from 150 to 600 rubles. Better to buy the original ("Fram" or "Mann").

Tools

For the oil change in the Renault Logan engine to be successful, we need the following tools and devices:

  • Square by 8.
  • Filter remover.

We also need a container to drain the old oil. Its volume must be at least four liters. Such a container can be made from an old canister - carefully cut out the sidewall and put it under the engine. You can also use other containers, such as a basin or plastic bucket. But these devices are only suitable when using a pit or lift. Otherwise, such a container will not fit under the engine even when using a jack.

Getting started

So, we drive the car into a hole or put it on a flat area. The very change of Renault Logan oil is made "cold". Allow the engine to cool for 10-15 minutes. After that, you can safely start working. Armed with rubber gloves and a square key for 8, we get to the engine sump. Please note that it may be covered with a metal shield. It is not necessary to remove it. It is enough to find a rubber plug that will open access to the hatch. Through this hole we will insert a tool to open the plug. If it is dirty, clean it with a soft cloth. Next, we install a canister or any other empty container strictly under the hole. After that, we finally unscrew the plug. Be careful not to drop it into the oil can. Nothing critical will happen to it, but you will have to look pretty much along the bottom (the used oil is unlikely to be transparent).

Then we wait until all the oil is completely drained from the engine. If the replacement is carried out in winter, it is advisable to warm up the car and carefully unscrew the plug so as not to get burned. Otherwise, the viscous oil will drain for a very long time. Usually this process takes 10-15 minutes. To speed up the process, unscrew the filler cap (so that a vacuum does not form in the system).

About traffic jam

While the oil is draining into the container, we inspect the condition of the plug itself. It has a rubberized metal washer that provides a seal. If this element is cracked or lost elasticity, it should be replaced with a new one. Otherwise, oil will ooze out. Yes, for 10 thousand, perhaps not even a glass of liquid will pour out. But even with the slightest drips, dirt and road dust will stick to the pallet.

About filter

The filter must be replaced along with the oil. Where is he located? The element is located near the exhaust manifold and has a cylindrical shape. But it will hardly be possible to remove it with your hands. To do this, you need to use a special puller.

This tool gently grabs the edges of the filter and unscrews it without damage. If there is no such puller, you can use a more barbaric method - pierce the filter through with a slotted screwdriver. Thus, we get a lever. But it is worth noting that if the filter is damaged, oil will be released - at least 200 milliliters. Therefore, henceforth, you should take care of buying a puller. It is versatile and will also fit Renault Logan. Price - from 300 rubles per unit.

The filter must be removed quickly and carefully so that oil does not spill down from the center hole. The element is unscrewed counterclockwise.

Helpful Hint: When installing a new filter, apply a couple of drops of oil to the O-ring. And if the brand and viscosity of the new oil is the same as the old one, you can simply press both filters with their end parts against each other. This will give the elastic a uniform oil film.

It is best to install the filter without tools. It twists with the effort of the hand. Do not press it tightly to the surface, otherwise the gum will simply squeeze out (or there will be difficulties with further dismantling). We twist until we feel resistance.

What's next?

Now all that remains is to pour new oil into the engine. To completely clean the system of old grease, you need to spill a little new one. Enough 100-200 milliliters. Pour this volume into the engine and go down to the pallet. You will see a black liquid flowing from the hole (although, it would seem, the oil is clear as a tear). This will completely remove the old oil particles. Now we twist the plug and pour the oil in full. For convenience, use a plastic watering can (preferably without a grid, but clean).

We start the engine and warm it up to operating temperatures. After a while, we take out the probe and look at its level. If it falls, add oil again. Make sure that the level is average (between "MAX" and "MIN"). Topping up is a mandatory operation that must be performed when changing the oil. "Where does it go?" - you ask. It's simple: the filter has a bypass valve, which is closed when the engine is not running. As soon as we started the engine, some of the oil will go into the filter itself. The level will thus decrease.

After replacement, a note should be made in the notebook with the date and mileage of the vehicle. So you will know exactly how much the car is left until the next MOT.

How much to pour?

It all depends on the motor. If it is an 8-valve 1.4 or 1.6, then 3.4 liters are poured. On a 16-valve engine - about 4.8. If it is an oil change in the Renault Logan gearbox, the volume is 3.1 liters. This is a parameter for the classic 5MKPP. But these machines were also equipped with an automatic machine. In this case, changing the oil in the Renault Logan gearbox will require at least 4 liters of ATF fluid. But it will be more expensive than the usual "transmission".

in the power steering of Renault Logan

The operation consists of several stages:

Conclusion

As you can see, everything is very simple. Regardless of the technical characteristics of the new Renault Logan and how much it is equipped with dopas, all maintenance operations can be done by hand.
