Do-it-yourself oil change in Mitsubishi automatic gearbox. Timing and reasons for changing the oil, automatic transmission mitsubishi

Changing grease in Pajero

An oil change in Mitsubishi Pajero is carried out as planned, like the rest of the procedures for a thorough change of all vehicle fluids. The obligation of this event does not cause any doubts for any experienced motorist, especially since it is written in the Pajero service book, although the timing does not always correspond to reality.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport diy lubricant replacement

Renewal of working fluids should be carried out regularly. The event affects the following components and elements of the SUV:

  • brake reservoir;
  • radiator;
  • before. and ass. differential;
  • handout;

Automatic transmission

It is advisable to change the transmission in the automatic transmission at the service station. An automatic transmission is a complex mechanism that requires proper maintenance. If the car is still under warranty, then you need to use the services of an official service. If not, and "Padzherik", for example, of the Arab assembly, then you will have to look for the most acceptable options.

Although, you can call the official service and explain the situation by phone. They will count, and within 10 minutes they will answer how much the replacement will cost.

In most cases, replacing a lubricant in official services is several times cheaper than in a garage. But it depends on the specific place of residence. It also happens that garage services cost almost half the price.

The high cost of services is often attributed by employees to the cost of the composition, filter. Here you can offer your own oil, which you managed to buy in the store for a low price. Many service stations agree to this option, some do not.

By the way, in Pajero, the automatic transmission filter is designed for the entire life of the car. So it is updated only in rare cases.

As for the work time, it takes about 5-6 hours to replace the lubricant in the services.

Grease renewal methods

Now about the ways in which you can update the transmission in the Pajero box. There are 3 main scenarios for the development of events.

  1. The oil is changed in a classical, standard way - partially. In this case, the liquid is simply refreshed. This method has practically no negative consequences, and the risk of spoiling the box due to poor-quality service is reduced to naught.
  2. Complete replacement. Here one cannot do without service station services. With such a replacement, special equipment should be used, as well as equipment that helps the oil to push through. Thus, the old ATP is squeezed out of the box, and the vacated space is replaced with new oil.
  3. This option is only suitable for experienced car owners. It implies, again, a full-fledged replacement of ATP, but on its own.

Partial update

Here's how it's done:

  • the crankcase drain plug is unscrewed;
  • ATP is merged exactly as much as it comes out;
  • the plug is put in place;
  • the amount of drained liquid is measured, and then exactly the same amount is poured into the box.

This method can refresh almost half of the transmission fluid (ATF). There are no drastic changes in the box, and the new fluid is evenly mixed with the old one. This procedure is recommended during maintenance not once, but several times (3-4).

The main advantage of this procedure is that it can be done with your own hands, without stopping by the service and without using someone else's help. In addition, with this method, a small dose of oil is bought (it is known to be expensive, but in this case you can buy ATP gradually), and the mandatory additives do not leave the machine.

Replacing TJ in the table

There are also disadvantages compared to a full replacement. They relate primarily to a higher oil consumption, because such a procedure must be carried out several times, and a complete replacement is carried out only once, after several hundred kilometers.

Complete ATP update

Here are the main stages of this method:

  • tubes of a special apparatus are inserted into the automatic transmission;
  • the car starts up;
  • aTP renewal process begins.

The course of manipulation must be monitored through a special window: ATP reaches the desired color - the device turns off immediately. With a complete update, the costs will already be higher. You need to buy about 11 liters of ATP to be enough. They will also take a lot for the work itself, so you will have to fork out. At the same time, you can ask employees to wash the box and check the condition of the filter.

100% replacement of ATF has many advantages, including a significant reduction in fuel consumption. This can be explained by the fact that after the upgrade, losses in the torque converter are reduced to a large extent, and the response of the machine itself becomes much better. As for the shortcomings, they only relate to the skill level of the workshop workers. Choose a quality service and there shouldn't be any problems.

Complete DIY replacement

Here's what to do:

  • warm up the box well (driving 5 kilometers will be enough);
  • lift the car to the overpass;
  • turn off the engine;
  • remove the crankcase plug;
  • wait until the liquid is drained;
  • unscrew the pallet, in which there is still a lot of ATF;
  • remove the filter and clean it with gasoline;
  • clean the pallet well and thoroughly;
  • insert the filter back;
  • refresh the liquid;
  • disconnect the tubes;
  • put on gasoline or hydraulic hoses on the highways and lower the latter into an empty container (it is better to immediately large to fit);
  • start the engine;
  • as the liquid goes, start monitoring the color - it will acquire a fresh color, which means that it is necessary to stop the power unit.

Council. It is advisable to use the help of an assistant. Let him sit behind the wheel and turn off the engine as soon as he receives a signal from you.

After that, it remains only to collect everything back. It is recommended to be sure to diagnose the fluid by the marks after the car has traveled some distance.

The main advantage of this method is the low price. For the rest, only cons. First, you need to have experience, otherwise you can ruin the gearbox. Secondly, even knowing all the specifics of the event, you get no guarantee.

How to find out the replacement time

Yes, many will be interested in knowing this. The fact is that the recommendations indicated in the passport data are completely untrue, since the car is not operated in ideal conditions. So you have to follow this yourself.

Here are some helpful tips:

  • if ATP is transparent (even dark), then you should not rush to replace it;
  • if it is cloudy and there can be no talk of any transparency, then a replacement is required without fail.

It is worth going to a familiar service station for a check - they must say everything for sure. By the type of transmission, you can also determine the state of the box. If the liquid has a burning smell and contains a mixture of shavings and crumbs, it is urgent to sell the car or dispose of it in some other way. In this case, it will be necessary not only to update the ATF, but also to repair the automatic transmission (at best, it will cost to replace the filter, oil seals and gaskets). All this cannot be cheap, and the owner will have a hard time financially.

The 5-speed automatic transmission on Pajero 4 and Pajero Sport requires periodic inspection, at least every 5 years.

In addition, the following points may indicate a problem with ATP:

  • the machine suddenly "buggy" in the heat;
  • under a traffic light, in a traffic jam, the speed switches poorly.

You cannot operate the car for a long time in harsh conditions, drag a trailer, often drive in deep snow and mud. Aggressive driving should be avoided when torque limits are involved. Remember that if, after replacing ATP, the fluid quickly "ages", and the problems with the box do not disappear, the automatic transmission requires more serious care.

Engine

Now about what kind of oil to fill in the Pajero ICE. As a rule, this is mainly a matter of taste for the owner himself. But the following nuances must be taken into account without fail (otherwise, problems cannot be avoided).

Here are the oils you need to fill, depending on the type of Pajero ICE (several main engines are shown in the table).

Caring for your car is the prerogative of experienced owners who understand the importance of caring. By performing various procedures periodically, they gain valuable experience. Many works, including repairs, such as or an oil filter, are performed by them without special rules, which makes it possible to save on services at the service station. Work on replacing fluids is no exception in this regard.

Automatic transmission (automatic gearbox) is one of the most complex systems of a car, and the number of parts that are part of it can exceed a thousand. Manufacturers put a high operational resource in the automatic transmission, but this does not prevent them from wearing out and breaking over time. Untimely maintenance is the most common cause of premature transmission wear. Directly MOT involves replacing the transmission fluid, oil, checking the pressure in the lines, as well as replacing filters. Driving style, operating conditions and weather conditions also have a significant impact on automatic transmission wear.

Timing and reasons for changing the oil of automatic transmission Mitsubishi

  • The manufacturing plant recommends changing the automatic transmission oil of the considered car brands every 50-60 thousand km. mileage, but if the machine is used in extreme conditions, for example, off-road, the mileage is reduced up to 20-30 thousand km.
  • In cold weather conditions, the automatic transmission oil should be changed at the end of winter and the mileage is not taken into account in this case.
  • Regularly check the level of the transmission oil and if it darkens, the level drops or if there is a burning smell, be sure to think about the need to replace this component. It is not always worth waiting for the recommended time limit, especially if you are purchasing a used Mitsubishi car.
  • In the event of a low oil level in the automatic transmission, the pump will pump air and soon the transmission will fail.
  • Exceeding the required oil level in the gearbox is also not uncommon. In this case, foaming of the oil and the presence of oil stains on the automatic transmission are inevitable. Excess in such cases is strongly recommended to be eliminated.

Step-by-step procedure for changing the automatic transmission oil in Mitsubishi cars

  1. Remove engine protection if present.
  2. Find the supply pipe on the radiator, it comes from the box. Use pliers to squeeze out the clamp and remove the tube. Place the tube in a waste container. A five-liter canister is perfect for this purpose.
  3. You cannot do without an assistant in this matter, and at this stage his goal is to start the car in neutral gear. For a minute, but not more, keep the car running. During this time, the pump will spit out oil into the drain container. In forty seconds, a little more than three liters of liquid will enter the canister. The pump will not immediately air due to the upper location of the hose in the box.
  4. Switch off the machine and unscrew the drain plug with a 24 wrench. Wipe the plug dry and drain the rest of the oil. Next, screw on the plug and put a tube on the radiator.
  5. Use a hose and watering can to fill the box with fresh oil.
  6. Start the car and run it a couple of times through the gear selector. Hold each position for five seconds.
  7. Remove the dipstick and check that the oil level is between the upper and lower COLD marks. The selector, in this case, must correspond to position N.
  8. Warm up the car to operating temperature and run the selector in the same way. Check the dipstick and make sure the oil level is between the HOT marks.
  9. If you want to make sure for the hundredth time of the correctness of the manipulations done, it is worth driving ten kilometers and making a control check of the oil level.

As a result of the painstaking work done, you will get the automatic transmission working properly and pleasant trips on your favorite car. The whole procedure takes just over an hour, and in terms of funds, you will only spend on new oil.

Changing the oil in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission is possible in the three most significant ways. However, we will get by with the light, classic and more correct one.

Step 1
The first thing we do is warm up the oil in an automatic transmission. To do this, we drive about 5 kilometers and enter the pit. We stop the engine and unscrew the hole for draining the oil from the automatic transmission.

Step 2
We drain the oil as much as possible. To do this, you need to wait a while. Then carefully unscrew the pan, since a certain part of the oil remained in it.

With careless actions, there is a possibility of oil getting on the body. We rinse the pan from waste liquid and other contaminants, also remove the filter and rinse. Then we put everything in the reverse order, first replacing the pallet gasket. Pour the same amount of oil into the dipstick hole as it was drained. A little more is possible.

Step 3
Then we disconnect the tubes from the cooling system and move them aside. We put on special hoses for oil and lower it into a container previously prepared for the waste fluid. We start the power unit. After a few seconds, the oil will pour out.

After you see that it has acquired a pure color, we turn off the engine. We take out these hoses, and connect the pipes in place. We check by cold and hot marks whether the level in the transmission is correct.

Step 4
Using a jack, raise the car and remove the protection. A red hose is visible, which serves as a highway between the transmission and the radiator. Disconnect it. Put on the hose prepared for draining the used oil again and direct it to the desired container.

Step 5
Putting the car in neutral gear, we start. Waste oil will start flowing through the hose that we have connected. After the flow has stopped, we turn off the engine. Unscrew the drain hole and drain the oil. Then we twist it back.

Step 6
Pour the new oil back through the dipstick with a volume of about 6 liters, or as much as the old one was drained. We start the car. Old oil will again come from the same hose. As soon as we see something fresh, we stop the engine.

Fill again with oil in a volume equal to the fluid drained through the hose. We repeat this procedure until the old oil stops flowing out completely. We install the pipe in place and start the car. We linger for five seconds in gear, and put it in neutral. The car should run for a few minutes. If the oil level is low, add lightly. The main thing is not to overdo it.

Then you should ride and bring the operating temperature to 90 degrees. Check the level markings again. It is necessary to keep the oil level almost at the maximum level. The process of changing the oil in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission can be considered complete.

Even more useful tips in a convenient format

Changing the oil in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport gearbox is most often associated with the repair of the automatic transmission itself, or it is replaced with a new one during the work to eliminate oil leaks, since it must be drained for work. The oil in the automatic transmission is poured by the manufacturer once for the entire service life of the car. It is recommended to entrust the oil change in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission to professionals, but in some cases you can handle this operation on your own.

Functions of ATF oil in automatic transmission Mitsubishi Pajero Sport:

  • effective lubrication of rubbing surfaces and mechanisms;
  • reducing the mechanical load on the nodes;
  • heat removal;
  • removal of microparticles resulting from corrosion or wear of parts.
The ATF color of the oil for the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission allows not only to distinguish between oils by type, but helps to find out in case of a leak, from which system the fluid escaped. For example, oil in automatic transmission and power steering has a red tint, antifreeze is green, and in the engine it is yellowish.
Reasons for oil leakage from automatic transmission in Mitsubishi Pajero Sport:
  • wear of automatic transmission oil seals;
  • wear of the surfaces of the shafts, the occurrence of a gap between the shaft and the sealing element;
  • wear of the automatic transmission sealing element and the speedometer drive shaft;
  • play in the input shaft of the automatic transmission;
  • damage to the sealing layer in the joints between automatic transmission parts: pallet, automatic transmission housing, crankcase, clutch housing;
  • loosening of the bolts that ensure the connection of the above parts of the automatic transmission;
The low oil level in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission is the main reason for the failure of the clutches. Due to the low fluid pressure, the clutches do not press well against the steel discs and do not contact each other tightly enough. As a result, the friction linings in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission are very hot, carbonized and destroyed, significantly contaminating the oil.

Due to lack of oil or low-quality oil in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission:

  • plungers and channels of the valve body are clogged with mechanical particles, which leads to a shortage of oil in the bags and provokes wear of the sleeve, rubbing pump parts, etc.;
  • steel transmission discs overheat and quickly wear out;
  • rubberized pistons, thrust discs, clutch drum, etc; overheat and burn out;
  • the valve body wears out and becomes unusable.
Contaminated automatic transmission oil cannot fully dissipate heat and provide high-quality lubrication of parts, which leads to various malfunctions of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission. Heavily contaminated oil is an abrasive slurry that creates a sandblasting effect under high pressure. An intense impact on the valve body leads to a thinning of its walls at the locations of the control valves, as a result of which numerous leaks may occur.
You can check the oil level in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission using a dipstick. The oil dipstick has two pairs of marks - the upper pair Max and Min allows you to determine the level on hot oil, the bottom pair - on cold oil. Using the dipstick, it is easy to check the condition of the oil: you need to drip oil onto a clean white cloth.

When choosing a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission oil for replacement, you should follow a simple principle: it is best to use an oil recommended by Mitsubishi. In this case, instead of mineral oil, you can fill in semi-synthetic or synthetic, but in no case should you use oil "lower class" from the prescribed one.

Synthetic oil for automatic transmissions Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is called "irreplaceable", it is poured for the entire life of the car. Such oil does not lose its properties under the influence of high temperature and is designed for a very long period of use of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. But we must not forget about the appearance of mechanical suspension as a result of wear of the clutches with a very significant mileage. If the automatic transmission has been operated for some time in conditions of insufficient oil, it is required to check the degree of its contamination and, if necessary, replace it.

Ways to change the oil in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission:

  • Partial oil change in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport box;
  • Complete oil change in the box Mitsubishi Pajero Sport;
A partial oil change in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission can be done independently. To do this, just unscrew the drain on the pallet, driving the car onto the overpass, and collect the oil in a container. Usually up to 25-40% of the volume flows out, the remaining 60-75% remain in the torque converter, that is, in fact, this is an update, not a replacement. To update the oil in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission in this way to the maximum, 2-3 replacements are required.

A complete oil change in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission is carried out using an automatic transmission oil change unit, by specialists in the car service. In this case, more ATF oil is required than the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission can accommodate. One and a half or double volume of fresh ATF is used for flushing. The cost will be more expensive than partial replacement, and not every car service provides such a service.
Partial ATF oil change in Mitsubishi Pajero Sport automatic transmission according to a simplified scheme:

  1. Unscrew the drain plug, drain the old ATF oil;
  2. We unscrew the automatic transmission pan, which, in addition to the bolts holding it, is processed along the contour with a sealant.
  3. We get access to the automatic transmission filter, it is advisable to change it with each oil change, or rinse it.
  4. At the bottom of the pallet there are magnets that are needed to collect metal dust and chips.
  5. We clean the magnets and rinse the pan, wipe dry.
  6. We install the automatic transmission filter in place.
  7. We install the automatic transmission pan in place, replacing the automatic transmission pan gasket if necessary.
  8. We tighten the drain plug, replacing the drain plug gasket for the automatic transmission.
We fill the oil through the technological filler hole (where the automatic transmission dipstick is located), using the dipstick we control the oil level in the automatic transmission to a cold one. After changing the oil in the automatic transmission, it is important to check its level by driving 10-20 km, already with the automatic transmission warmed up. Top up if necessary. The regularity of oil changes depends not only on the mileage, but also on the nature of the ride on the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. You should be guided not by the recommended mileage, but by the degree of contamination of the oil, systematically checking it.
