We have written more than once about the well-designed Lacetti interior - the dark soft plastic of the front panel, very decent seats upholstered in practical fabric (both the texture, and their two-color range, and the large knobs for adjusting the pillow remained the same), a comfortable armrest, simple, but completely understandable and quite effective air conditioner.

Ten years ago, this salon was almost a record spacious. Now, as you can imagine, there are more spacious cars in the "golf" class. Nevertheless, "Gentra" is very hospitable to passengers - three people can travel on the couch, "by himself" the driver 185 cm tall can sit down without any problems. In the spacious trunk, the lid of which is still opened with a button on the driver's door, two large suitcases still fit - and there is still room. However, there are also minor changes. So, we used to praise the Lacetti's visibility. And now the exterior mirrors are even slightly larger.

And on a ride "Gentra" in everything is similar to "Lacetti". The suspension, which is identical in design, remarkably swallows not only minor, but also major road troubles - the front one is especially good in this respect. And, of course, the increased comfort turns into significant rolls, if you suddenly want to grab the Gentra along the winding path.

From the very beginning of our acquaintance "Daewoo" pleasantly surprised me. Soundproofing almost completely covers the engine noise at idle - I even tried to start a running engine a couple of times! But just the motor of the new Uzbek car is completely different. If "Lacetti" relied on as many as three - different volumes and capacity from 95 to 121 liters. with., then "Gentra" from all "Chevrolet" variety got the only in-line 1.5-liter "four" in 105 forces.

Incidentally, this is the same engine that is installed on the Cobalt. True, with some changes - different ignition coil, electronic control unit, catalytic converter. In addition, another clutch had to be installed - after all, the 5-speed manual transmission also went to the car from the Lacetti. By the way, it was also installed on the 16-valve "Nexia". And on the "Gentra" she, as in the "Lacetti", annoys the long strokes of the lever.

In principle, this Gentre motor is enough. Six hundred miles along Moscow traffic jams and suburban highways with two passengers and luggage did not reveal any big problems. However, it immediately became clear that "Gentra" is intended exclusively for law-abiding drivers. Up to 60 km / h in the city, its dynamics is enough, and then the 1.5-liter engine quickly turns sour. And on the highway you can comfortably move at permitted speeds, and after 110 km / h the cabin becomes noisy, and overtaking on the move is given to Daewoo with great stress.

Especially clearly I felt the unhurried nature of the "Gentra", having moved from it to the 2-liter "Duster" - the all-wheel drive "Renault" seemed to me a real hurricane!

Perhaps the only drawback of the roomy and neatly trimmed trunk is the uncovered hinges that can wrinkle the luggage. A full spare wheel is hidden under the floor - however, on a steel rim

And nevertheless, for all five days of getting to know the car, no matter how hard I tried, I could not find any serious flaws in it. And the plastic pseudo-tree on the front panel did not annoy, and the confused control of the hatch could not get mad. And all because from the very beginning, even before I got behind the wheel, I studied the price list. So, the basic Gentra is 28 thousand cheaper than the 1.4-liter Lacetti three years ago! And it is better equipped. And for half a million you will get a car in a top-end configuration, perhaps without leather, and an automatic machine for Gentre-Elegant is expensive - as much as 52 thousand. And nevertheless, such a car will remain unambiguously the best offer in the "golf" class.

Of course, if you rummage through the list of equipment, you can find a total lack of ESP, side and window airbags and leather interior. And yet, I think, neither one nor the other, let alone the third, will not be able to cross out the main advantage of "Gentra": "UzDau" offered us a lot of cars for very little money.

As for the replacement of "Nexia" ... It looks like it will remain on the conveyor for now - after all, the old woman is more than a hundred thousand rubles cheaper.

Richer and cheaper

The basic configuration "Comfort" can be called a living wage. Such a "Gentra" has a decent power accessories, driver's seat height adjustment, folding sofa, central locking, immobilizer, isofix mounts. Moreover, in terms of equipment, the car for 399 thousand richer than the base Lacetti for air conditioning, a second airbag, eyeglass case, front center armrest, fog lights, and mirrors and door handles are painted in body color. Debuted "Daewoo-Lacetti" in the fall of 2002 at the Seoul Auto Show. Since then, the car has been sold under various names around the world. Only slightly change the position of the moldings that are installed on the doors of the car. Although the appearance looks very simple, nothing bad can be said about her. After getting into the Daewoo Gentra sedan salon, it is immediately noticeable that everything here is also done without luxury, but quite at an appropriate level. All keys and controls are conveniently installed and do not require additional effort to be used. The quality of finishes and other materials has become quite good, and even pleasant.

The only thing that confuses us is, frankly, cheap control keys. In expensive sedan modifications, different inserts make the interior more interesting. The driver's seat at first glance seems small, but this miss covers more than a number of its various settings.

A four-spoke steering wheel appears before the driver, the rim of which looks thin, so it is not very comfortable to hold it in the hands. The dashboard is also not distinguished by innovations, and has a simple and pleasant design - all information is read without any particular difficulties, which will not allow you to get confused in it.

The speedometer has a maximum value of 220 km / h, and is installed in the middle of the instrument panel. On the left, in a round frame, there is a tachometer, and on the right, also in a circle, are the rest of the sensors. The buttons for operating the power windows have been conveniently installed in the armrest on the driver's side of the door.

The rear sofa is not so huge, however, it gives passengers enough free space, which will allow them to move on long trips on the Gentra without any difficulties. Due to the low-set rear sofa, the legs have enough room and they do not rest on the backs of the front seats, and tall people will also be able to feel comfortable.

The luggage compartment has 405 liters of free space, which, if necessary, can be increased by folding the rear seats - you get 1225 liters. In general, if you look at the photo of the salon of the new Gentra, then it slightly surpasses its competitors.

Speaking of the Chevrolet Lacetti, there are not many changes, but this is good news, the Lacetti salon was good. Thanks to mahogany inserts in top-end versions, the interior looks expensive and stylish. I was pleasantly surprised by the panel installed in front, which has a casing made of soft plastic. This was not the case in any budget C-class model.

The negative is the presence of plastic buttons and switches. The same steering wheel turned out to be very thin and does not have thickening in the grip points. These shortcomings are a little smoothed out by the "board" of devices, which turned out to be simple but elegant. In general, there are not many changes in the cabin and they mainly affect the center console. The fabric used in the upholstery was chosen with good quality.

Based on the Daewoo Gentra reviews, the model became the first budget car in recent years, in which it was easy and quick to find a comfortable fit. You can't find any trump cards here, but the designers have provided not only the longitudinal adjustment of the driver's seat, but also its height adjustment.

What's more, the design team has set up a two-level setting that allows you to adjust the front and back of the cushion. Do not forget to set the lumbar support adjustment. Even in the basic version, the steering wheel can be adjusted in height, and in the more top version, even in reach.

However, you should not console yourself, because even if you achieve a comfortable landing, at the same time, good visibility is unlikely to be. This is partly due to the overly wide A-pillars and side exterior mirrors, which have serious blind spots.

Daewoo Gentra car is a good option in terms of price / quality ratio. The model stands out for its rather fresh appearance, good equipment and an acceptable price.

Unfortunately, it cannot be said that there is too much free space in the back row. In the case when tall passengers are sitting in front, there is not much free space in the back row, but for the overwhelming number of passengers, it should be enough. In more expensive trim levels for the owners of Daewoo Gentra 2017, they provided a convenient center armrest that locks horizontally and does not fall on the pillow, as often happens.

Among other things, there is a compartment at the end of the passenger seat, as well as pockets on the backs of the front seats and door cards. It's nice that even the rear doors got an extra pocket.






I would like to say that already in the standard version, the new Gentra has received good equipment. The dashboard still looks austere and has not received an on-board computer. However, there are no problems with reading information, and the air conditioner performs all its functions, cooling and warming up the interior when necessary.

Among the new, in Gentra, you can distinguish an audio system with 6 speakers, available in 2 of the top-end versions. The music system is average in sound quality and supports CDs and MP3s, but the AUX input does not have a USB port. The top-of-the-line equipment boasts music system control buttons on the steering wheel.
