Honda SRV 3 generation disadvantages. Honda CR-V III - the return of the legend to the sport

Like any self-respecting crossover, the choice of body is not provided - the buyer is offered only a lean station wagon with a rather capacious trunk, in the underground of which a stowaway is hiding. The skarb can also be placed on the roof - rails for attaching the trunk are available in all trim levels, with the exception of Elegance with a 2.4-liter engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission.

There is also a single type of drive - front, with an automatically connected rear axle. With a small - only 175 mm - clearance, the lack of a mono-drive version is somewhat puzzling.

The set of power units is also relatively modest: cars with diesel engines, for example, are not brought to us. Gasoline engines of 2.0 and 2.4 liters differ from each other not only in technical characteristics - they embody a different approach to equipping off-road vehicles.

A more modest one, with a capacity of 150 hp, is designed for cars aimed at European consumers. They are collected nearby - in England. There are two complete sets in this sector - "Elegance" and "Lifestyle", however, the presence of two types of gearboxes in each (M6 and A5) expands the list to four. The difference in the number of options is small and comes down mainly to the elements of comfort - the Honda does not save on security systems. Proponents of budget solutions may be upset only by the lack of leather trim on the steering wheel and gear lever, rear view camera, bluetooth system and standard anti-theft alarm. However, additional payments for these benefits of civilization (from 70,000 to 110,000 rubles), against the background of the total cost of the car, do not seem excessive.

Disputes between supporters and opponents of mechanics seem to last forever, but here the latter have a rather weighty argument. On the CR-V, they install not a confused robot and a variator not unsuitable for off-road, but a classic hydromechanical unit - not very modern (only five steps), but reliable. We also vote for.

Cars with a more powerful engine (2.4L, 190hp) show an American take on the model and are made in the same place, overseas. There are few external differences: the front bumper, which has increased the angle of entry, and more dense tinted rear windows. A mechanical box is not provided - only an automatic! Moreover, it is also five-stage. True, the control algorithm is somewhat different: instead of the "sport" mode, the shift range is forcibly limited to three gears.

There are four complete sets, like the "European". True, the two extreme ones - the cheapest Elegance (1,339,000 rubles) and the most expensive Premium (1,599,000 rubles) - are quite difficult to find in the warehouse. The reason for this is not rush demand, but rather its absence. Apparently, here our preferences differ from the American ones especially strongly. The more modest configuration of the remaining - "Sport" (1,439,000 rubles) is more expensive than the previously liked Lifestyle by 110,000, but it is equipped with a little more modest (with a more powerful engine). In it you will not find paddle shifters, driver's seat lumbar support, rain sensor and some other little things. But only by car in the overseas version ("Executive" package for 1,519,000 rubles) you will be offered a leather interior with a full set of electrical adjustments and even a sunroof. In our opinion, the value of these options in the eyes of domestic buyers is not high, so those wishing to pay 80,000 rubles. there is not much. We are not one of them.

As a result, we liked the European version of "Lifestyle": the buyer gets an off-road vehicle with a large trunk, high-quality interior trim and a moderately gluttonous engine of sufficient, in our opinion, power.

However, the purchase costs are not limited to this. The basic white color looks quite decent, but the mother of pearl, on which an additional layer of varnish is placed, seems much more practical. The manufacturer did not provide for other preferences - it will be necessary to complete the purchase with protection, rugs and other parking sensors either from a dealer (it can be expensive) or on the side. We do not take these costs into account.

Crossover "Honda CR-V" of the next, fourth generation can be bought both in English and American assembly. Let's try to understand the intricacies of geopolitics.

CR-V of the fourth generation is very interesting for the buyer by many criteria: comfort, practicality, efficiency, safety and reliability are combined with a wide range of factory options already in the basic version. Those who expect the best geometric parameters of cross-country ability from the crossover should pay attention to the version with a 2.4 liter engine. Their characteristic feature is the front bumper, with which the approach angle is 28 degrees.

Review of Honda Wed-in the fifth generation

Test drive of the new Honda SR-B

In the test drive, the presenter talks about the technological features, ride comfort, the features of the tested configuration, the problems that the car owner may face and what distinguishes this car brand from the rest. It is about basic and additional options that are important for drivers, may interest them, or will become key when choosing a car.

Comparison with the previous model was inevitable: the developers improved many options, modernized existing functions and added new ones. The presenter talks about the most significant changes for the car owner, their pros and cons.

The first thing that focuses on when reviewing a car's interior is the driver's seat. Described the convenience of the driver's seat itself, the possibilities of its adjustment. An overview of the control panel from the point of view of convenience is made, its main functions are demonstrated. The audio system is considered, additional functionality is provided. The quality of the finishing material is assessed. Suggestions have been made on the possibilities for further improvements.

The rear row of seats is considered in terms of its spaciousness and convenience for passengers of different sizes. The methods of seat adjustment are given. Demonstrated additional options for rear passengers.

Separately, the presenter talks about the trunk. It tells about its spaciousness and the possibilities of increasing the useful volume. The convenience of loading and unloading was assessed, as well as the ability to transport bulky cargo.

When driving a car, the comfort of city driving is checked. The stiffness of the suspension, cornering and other important moments for the driver are assessed. The presenter talks about his own feelings, as well as what the other driver may or may not like.

Driving on uneven road surfaces is tested separately and the features of control when driving on an unpaved road are described. The presenter compares the difference between driving in urban conditions and outside the city. The viewer can see what to expect from the car when driving in the countryside or along forest roads.

The official premiere of the 3rd generation Honda CR-V crossover took place in the fall of 2006 at the Paris Motor Show, and at the beginning of next year it went on sale. In 2009, the Japanese company underwent a planned revision of the car, presenting the "fruit" of their labors in September at an exhibition in Frankfurt. During the renovation, the front and rear parts underwent minor changes, the interior was slightly transformed, the engines increased in power, and the configurations became richer. In this form, the SUV lasted on the conveyor until 2012, after which it acquired a follower.

The "third" Honda CR-V flaunts aggressive and stylish design, and mostly it concerns the "front end" - a predatory "face" with mysterious optics, "two-story" radiator grille and a powerful bumper. The dynamic look of the SUV is forged due to the original line of side glazing with a spectacular "turn" in the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear pillar and large rims. As for the stern, it is somewhat discordant with the rest of the "body parts" because of its standard, not quite harmonious design inherent in station wagons.

In terms of overall dimensions, "SRV" of the 3rd generation is a representative of the class of compact crossovers: 4574 mm in length, 1820 mm in width and 1675 mm in height. The distance between the axles of the "Japanese" fits into 2620 mm, and its ground clearance in the stowed state is 185 mm.

The interior of the Japanese SUV looks nice, beautiful and modern, but the overall picture is somewhat spoiled by hard plastics in the front panel trim. The three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel is neat in appearance and convenient in practice, and the dashboard is represented by an arrow speedometer and a tachometer, between which there is a "display" of the trip computer. The center console is arranged in an original way, and it is not overloaded with unnecessary systems - a multimedia complex (radio or color display) and an air conditioning unit with a pair of large "washers" and buttons.

The front seats of the "third" Honda CR-V are endowed with developed support on the sides, but they do not provoke active driving. The three-seater sofa in the back moves back and forth and has a tilt-adjustable backrest, and the amount of space is sufficient for three adult riders.

In the standard state, the size of the luggage compartment of the car is 442 liters, and with the backrest of the second row of seats folded down - 955 liters. True, a flat floor does not come out. Underground "hides" a compact spare wheel and the necessary set of tools.

Specifications. On the Russian market, the third generation CR-V was offered with two types of gasoline power plants:

  • The engine compartment of the basic version of the crossover is occupied by an atmospheric "four" with distributed injection and a 16-valve gas distribution mechanism. With a volume of 2.0 liters, it generates 150 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm.
  • The "top" version is a 2.4-liter engine with four "pots" arranged in a row, distributed fuel supply and a 16-valve timing. Its maximum output of 166 "horses" is achieved at 5800 rpm, and the upper thrust threshold of 220 Nm falls at 4200 rpm.

Each of the engines is combined with an automatic transmission for five gears, and the "junior" one is also combined with a 5-speed "mechanics".

Regardless of the version, the "third Honda SRV" is equipped with a proprietary all-wheel drive technology Real Time 4WD. In standard driving modes, the entire torque reserve is supplied to the wheels of the front axle, but in the event of slippage, the rear wheels are activated by means of a hydraulically controlled multi-plate clutch, to which up to 50% of the traction is distributed.

The third-generation Japanese SUV has good dynamics, speed and fuel efficiency characteristics. From standstill to 100 km / h CR-V accelerates in 10.2-12.2 seconds, its peak capacity is 177-190 km / h, and fuel consumption in mixed mode varies from 8.2 to 9.5 liters.

  • In other markets, the car was also available with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel, producing, depending on the version, 140-150 horsepower and 340-350 Nm of maximum thrust, as well as a mono-drive version.

At the heart of the third generation Honda CR-V is a front-wheel drive platform with an independent running gear "in a circle" - MacPherson struts on the front axle and a multi-link design on the rear axle, in both cases a stabilizer bar is mounted. Rack and pinion steering system "flaunts" a hydraulic booster. Each of the four wheels of the crossover is equipped with disc brakes, and on the front wheels they are also ventilated.

The family SUV from the Land of the Rising Sun is distinguished by its sporty character, along with a comfortable interior, a spacious cargo compartment, efficient engines and refined handling.
But it also has negative sides - hard plastics in the interior decoration, not the best sound insulation in the class, modest ground clearance for a crossover and insufficient cross-country ability.

Prices. In 2015, the “third SRV” can be purchased on the secondary market of Russia at an average price of 800,000 to 1,200,000 rubles.

The Honda CR-V, unveiled at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show, was one of the earliest representatives of the "crossover" class, although this name was not yet in use at the time. In October of the same year, the novelty appeared in Japanese car dealerships, and in 1997 its sales began in America, Europe and Russia. Due to the increased demand in 2000, the production of the Honda CR-V for the European market was organized at a plant in the UK.

When creating a crossover, components and assemblies of the fifth generation model were used. The only engine is a two-liter with a capacity of 129-130 liters. with., he worked in tandem with a five-speed "mechanics" or four-speed "automatic". Honda CR-V had two versions: with front or plug-in all-wheel drive, but only all-wheel drive cars were supplied to Russia.

In 1999, the model was slightly restyled (only the shape of the bumpers changed), and the engine power increased to 140 hp. from. (in the version for the Japanese market - up to 150 forces). The release of the first generation Honda CR-V was completed in 2001.

2nd generation, 2001-2006

The second-generation Honda CR-V, which debuted in 2001, has grown in size and weight, and the suspension schemes have changed. In addition to the previous 2.0 engine (150 hp), the car received a new 2.4-liter 160 hp engine. with., such cars were equipped only with automatic transmissions and were sold in Japan and America. Especially for the European market in 2005, a turbodiesel version of the crossover was prepared, equipped with a 2.2-liter power unit that develops 140 hp. from.

In Russia, the "second" Honda CR-V was available only with a two-liter engine, all-wheel drive and a manual or automatic transmission.

3rd generation, 2006–2011

In 2006, the next generation of the model debuted. The car has become a little shorter and lower, has lost the "spare wheel" on the tailgate, it has expanded the choice of options.

In Russia, the "base" Honda CR-V was offered with a two-liter 150 hp engine. from. paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed "automatic". Cars equipped with a 2.4 liter engine (166 hp) were equipped with automatic transmissions only. We were supplied with all-wheel drive crossovers manufactured at a factory in the UK.

In Europe, cars were sold with a two-liter gasoline engine or with a 2.2 i-CTDi turbodiesel with a capacity of 140 forces. In the American market, the Honda CR-V had only one version - with a 2.4 liter engine. The drive could be front or full.

As a result of the 2010 restyling, the front end design barely changed in the car, and a new i-DTEC diesel engine of the same volume, developing 150 hp, appeared on European cars. from. A total of about 2.5 million cars were produced by 2012.

Why do SUVs love in our country? For a brutal appearance that guarantees respect on the road. For high ground clearance and four-wheel drive, allowing you to drive where others rescue. For a high seating position that improves visibility. For a spacious salon adapted to the needs of the whole family. All these qualities are also found in compact SUVs. Only in reduced format.

Secondary market November 18, 2008 Compact crossovers from Japan were created according to the Russian recipe (Toyota RAV 4, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander)

"Asphalt" SUVs, or crossovers, combining rather large dimensions and high ground clearance with almost easy handling, are very popular in Russia, where, given the well-known quality of our roads, they came in handy. There are many such models in the domestic “Second-hand” market. Some of the most common in the compact segment are the Japanese second generation Toyota RAV4 (2003-2006) and the second generation Honda CR-V, produced from 2002 to 2006 (with an intermediate restyling in 2004), and also “Mitsubishi Outlander”, which was on the assembly line in 2002-2007. All these cars had five-door monocoque bodies, and in the Toyota range there was also a short-wheelbase three-door “RAV4”. All of them were equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission (however, there are modifications with a drive only to the front wheels), have a decent ground clearance and fully independent suspensions of all wheels. Under the hood, all three crossovers had only four-cylinder petrol engines paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed “automatic”.

“Honda CR-V” with a 2.4 liter engine appeared on the Russian market. Previously, such an engine was installed on the American version of the car.

On the road and beyond (Toyota RAV 4, Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail (02-04)) Secondary market

It's no secret that SUV owners rarely use their cars for their intended purpose. Most people prefer to drive on paved trails. For them, "asphalt" jeeps were invented, combining moderate cross-country ability with the handling of a passenger model. So in the mid-90s, the first "asphalt" SUVs appeared, which later became known as crossovers (that is, located at the "crossroads" of classes). The Japanese Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V were pioneers in this area. And at the beginning of the XXI century, they were joined by "Nissan X-Trail". These three models are still the most common in their class on the Russian secondary market. Our review presents the second generation Toyota RAV4, produced from 2000 to 2003 restyling, the second generation Honda CR-V, produced in 2002-2004, and the Nissan X-Trail, which rolled off the assembly line from 2001 to first facelift in 2004. They have strong load-bearing bodies, an all-wheel drive transmission (there are also modifications with a drive only to the front wheels), a decent ground clearance and fully independent suspensions of all wheels. In terms of reliability, they are not inferior to "serious" jeeps, and in some ways they surpass them.
