4G LTE technology allows the owner to find a parked vehicle through a smartphone, start the engine, check the fuel level and unlock the doors. Ford was involved in the creation of an open source software called SmartDeviceLink (SDL) and will install it on its vehicles under the AppLink brand. Toyota also recently decided to use this software. And according to Ford, Honda, Subaru and Mazda are also seriously considering using SDL in their models.

Hopefully, SDL will become the standard for car owners. At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, the executive director of Connected Vehicle and Services said, "Customers will benefit from everyone speaking the same language." AppLink has already been installed on 5 million Ford vehicles. The company predicts the number will rise to 28 million by the end of this decade.

Dealers will receive the 2016-2017 Mondeo by May this year, apart from the Sport model, which will appear in late summer. With five trim levels and six powertrain options, the new Mondeo offers countless reasons not to join the crossover crowd.
