All about buying and selling cars

Chery brand history. Chery's lineup: price, photo, owner reviews Who is Chery's car manufacturer

Chery was founded in 1997 by the Wuhu City Hall in Anhui Province. Several state-owned companies and holdings of the province, as well as small investors, became shareholders of the company. The production of the first cars was organized using Ford equipment, which the company purchased for $ 25 ml. The first car produced by the company in 1999 was the licensed Seat Toledo.

In 2001, during the directive redistribution of assets of state-owned companies, carried out by the PRC government, the Shanghai company SAIC became the owner of 20% of Chery Automobile shares. Chery was able to use the SAIC license to sell its vehicles throughout China. Note that before she could sell cars only on the territory of her province. In the same year, Chery began supplying its cars to Syria, and became the first Chinese auto exporter.

In 2003, Chery established its own research and development department. In the same year, Chery signed an agreement with the Iranian SKT Group for the supply of components for the production of Chery cars in Iran.
In 2004, the company enters into a contract with the Cuban government to supply 1,100 Chery vehicles to Cuba. And by the end of the year, Chery's expansion is spreading to more than 24 countries of the world.

The beginning of 2005 was marked for the company by the launch of the first crossover, which was the Tiggo. And the export volume has already reached 1000 units. And in December, Chery establishes a subsidiary in Russia, which became the first subsidiary abroad. And already at the beginning of 2006, a contract was concluded with the Russian company Avtotor for the assembly of Chery cars in Russia, and in April the first car rolled off the assembly line.

At the beginning of the same year, another novelty of the company, Chery Fora, rolled off the assembly line in China. In general, 2006 was a very eventful year. In March, an agreement was signed with the Indonesian Indomobile Group to assemble Chery vehicles in Indonesia. In June, a similar agreement is signed with Ukraine. Along the way, agreements are reached on the sale of cars in Turkey and the start of car assembly in Egypt. Total sales of Chery engines in the United States exceed 5,000 units.

In March 2007, Chery became the leader with 44,568 monthly vehicle sales, surpassing FAW Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai GM. For the first time, an independent Chinese car manufacturer has broken into the lead in terms of monthly sales, ahead of such auto giants.

In July of the same year, the first Chinese minivan Riich II was launched in the domestic market.

And already in August, the millionth Chery car leaves the assembly line. Thus, Chery becomes the first automobile brand to achieve a production volume of 1,000,000 vehicles.

In 2010, Chery cars take part in the Dakar Rally and are ranked 28th and 29th.

In the spring of 2011, new models Bonus and Very appear on the Russian market. by the summer, 3,000,000 cars are on the assembly line of the plant. In the same year, Chery engines entered the Top 10 best engines in China for the fifth time.

The beginning of 2012 is also marked by the company's appreciation and it is included in the "Top 10 Innovative Enterprises in China."

The story of a young growing Chinese automobile company Chery Automobile Co. started in 1997. The initiative to establish it was submitted by the Mayor's Office of Wuhu City, Anhui Province. Officials were concerned about the lack of serious industrial production in the city and the province as a whole, so it was decided to build a plant for the production of internal combustion engines. Later, the plant housed an assembly line and other equipment purchased for $ 25 million from the American automobile giant Ford, and began production of cars.

The origin of the car brand name is very interesting. In Chinese, it sounds completely different - "Ki Ryu", which literally means "special blessing." In order to be able to export cars and subsequently "bless" the whole world for the purchase of communist cars, behind the Great Wall of China it was decided to transliterate the name with the letters of the English alphabet, as a result, Chinese philologists got an unsonic Qirui. Marketers forced linguists to come up with something more euphonious, and this is how Cheery appeared, but in the late 90s the Chinese were not strong in English spelling. A mistake was made in several official documents, which the high party and city authorities did not begin to correct, other small shareholders also adopted the final name Chery, under which the company exists to this day.

Chery Fulwin A11

Chinese carmakers are known worldwide as copying masters, thanks in large part to Chery's manufacturing policies. The first car of the company, produced in 1999, was almost an exact copy of the Seat Toledo. The Chinese could not agree on the purchase of a license for the production of this car from the Spaniards and decided to do without it. The car was named Fulwin and the factory index is A11.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the Chinese manufacturer did not do well. Chery cars, according to the laws of the PRC, could not be sold on the domestic market, and there was no need to even think about exporting. A solid municipal order for the production of cars for the needs of the city administration and work in taxi companies throughout the province of Anhui did not save the day. Therefore, in 2001, in order to give automakers the opportunity to trade their cars, the Chinese government sold its 20% stake in Chery to the Shanghai State Automobile Concern SAIC. The move was the "special blessing" that the company's Chinese name claims. In the same year, the "first-born" Fulwin was officially launched into the series, which was immediately exported to Syria under the Amulet brand.

Thus, Chery became the first company from the Middle Kingdom to sell its cars in the global market. The conveyor in Wuhu worked non-stop, meeting the needs of not only the domestic but also the foreign market. The following year, the company's engineers decided to think about not only the quantity, but also the quality of the machines produced. In September 2002, Chery was audited by German specialists who assigned the brand the highest quality standard ISO / TS 16949 at that time.

In 2003, Chery Automobile Co. creates a research center, whose specialists begin to actively cooperate with well-known foreign automobile companies. In particular, in order to teach Chinese specialists to monitor the quality of manufactured products and actively improve it, engineers from the Japanese Mitsubishi were invited to the plant for consultations. While the research center was engaged in its direct responsibilities, the top management of the company decided to follow the beaten path and conquer the subcompact segment by releasing the Chery QQ, which was almost an exact copy of the Daewoo Matiz hatchback (Daewoo Matiz) 15 years ago. The appearance of this car on the world market turned into a huge scandal. American General Motors, whose Korean subsidiary produced Matiz, conducted its own investigation, which revealed that car brands are not just similar, but almost identical. Moreover, it became known that his carefully camouflaged Korean twin brother passed all crash tests instead of QQ.

Chery oriental son

2003 is a significant year for the company with one more “novelty”. This time, the old lady Chevrolet Evanda, which was assembled under license by the South Korean Daewoo and sold under the Magnus brand, fell under the carbon copy. In the Chinese version, the car was named Chery Oriental Son, and since 2006 it has been renamed Chery Eastar. This car was the first business-class sedan assembled by a Chinese company. In the same year, the updated Amulet in the body of a liftback rolled off the assembly line.

Due to the scandal with the production of QQ and Oriental Son, SAIC was forced to withdraw from the shareholders of Chery, but the company from Wuhu did not lose the opportunity to export its cars abroad, which it is actively doing to this day. The Americans filed a lawsuit against the enterprising Chinese, but this did not affect the sales of the baby QQ in any way. The company became fully state-owned, and by the end of 2004, the assets of Chery Automobile Co. reached a record $ 1.5 billion. Earning a lot of money from illegal copying, the Chinese manufacturer did not forget to improve the cars produced in every possible way. The paint shop # 2 began to use the innovative DURR Paint paint systems. The Wuhu plant has become one of only five factories in the world to use this technology. Production this year exceeded 200,000 units per year, a record for the Chinese car industry.

In 2005, Chery managed to improve the qualifications of the quality of produced cars to ISO / TS 16949: 2002. At the time, it was the most stringent control system in the global automotive industry. The Chinese then began to partner with Malcolm Bricklin's company, Visionary Vehicles. Chery's management was planning to start selling its cars in the US market.

In the beginning, they were going to import five new car lines. Bricklin's management intended to establish 250 dealerships in North America. By 2007, 250,000 vehicles were to be sold there. However, the company ran into difficulties. The deal could not be concluded due to forced suspensions and financial contradictions that arose.

Instead, Chery pursued its own export plan. They have developed a large batch of cars. These machines were intended for sales in the American, Japanese and European markets. Italian designers Bertone and Pininfarina worked on the design of new products. It was they who created the design of the Ferrari and Lamborghini brands. AVL from Austria also worked with Chery on the creation of 18 engines for new cars. The new ACTECO engine brand fully met the requirements of Euro IV standards. When creating this engine, the latest technologies were used, such as: aluminum alloyed cylinder blocks and direct fuel injection.

All these technical innovations were introduced on the Chery Tiggo crossover that appeared in the same year. The car again turned out to be subtly similar, but now it looks like two cars at once. The prototypes were the second generation Toyota Rav 4 and the Honda CRV. The model was produced with a 2.4-liter engine, station wagon and front-wheel drive. A little later, motorists were offered the all-wheel drive version of the Tiggo, which gained considerable popularity due to the low cost of the SUV, which was also called the "SUV" due to its low ground clearance. The control system for the all-wheel drive model was developed in collaboration with Lotus engineers.

In 2005, the company showed an open-body concept car in Shanghai. The Chery M14 model appeared before the visitors of the automobile exhibition in the form of a convertible with a design from the famous Italian company Pininfarina. In serial production, the car was planned to be equipped with two types of engines - 1.6 and 2 liters. Despite the originality of the car, its cost should not have exceeded 20 thousand US dollars. But this car was never launched into mass production.

In 2006, the Chery Automobile Co. enriched with the A5. In the Russian market, it is better known as Fora. The car is still assembled at the Wuhu factory today. It is produced with two engine versions: a 1.6-liter four-valve gasoline engine and a two-liter one with a power of 95 kW (129 hp). Many Russian car owners liked Fora with a weighty basic configuration and a significant set of options at a low cost. The A5 was the first independent project of a Chinese automobile company. In the same year, the Chery V5 minivan (on the Russian market - Cross Eastar) rolled off the assembly line, which could carry up to 7 passengers.

Chery cross eastar

In 2007, the management of Chery Automobile introduced several new models, among which were the A18 and S12. Chery А18 is a station wagon car in a cargo-passenger version. The base for its creation was the Amulet model. At the same time, the A1 car (in Russia known as the Kimo) appeared, assigned to the subcompact category. Unlike its predecessor QQ, the car received a more powerful engine. The A3 model, despite the similarity of designations, which appeared in the same year, received a body more similar to a coupe, and units with a volume of 1.6 and 2 liters, the power of which amounted to more than 100 hp.

At the same time, the B21 sedan, presented in the same 2007 in Moscow, was launched into production. The car was equipped with reinforced spars. According to the developers, this car received the necessary safety margin, which was supposed to correct the prevailing opinion about the increased danger of Chinese cars. In addition, the Chery B21 model was equipped with various engine options - from 1.9-liter diesel to 3-liter gasoline.

Overall, 2007 was marked by a large number of new models and concept cars presented at the Shanghai Motor Show. These are versions of the Tiggo SUVs (5 and 6), and the three-door Chery Shooting Sport, developed jointly with Torino Design, Chery A6CC, and others.

In 2008, the production of B22 models was put on the conveyor, and a year later, B23. The first version of the car received a hatchback body, the second - a coupe. The design of the car was developed by specialists of the Bertone company, giving the Chinese car an elegance and increased aerodynamics. 2008 was also marked by the release of the Chery Riich 8 minibus with a body length of more than 5 meters. In the model, the idea of \u200b\u200ba quick transformation of the seats was realized. Therefore, the need to transport any cargo in a passenger minibus, even in theory, cannot be a problem.

The global financial crisis did not affect the operation of the Wuhu plant in any way. In 2009, the Chinese launched the Riich G5 and Riich M1 vehicles into mass production. Today Chery Automobile Co. is the most dynamically developing automobile company in the world and has several assembly plants in different countries of the world (Syria, Iran, Egypt, Uruguay). In Russia, this car brand has a good dealer network and competes with the domestic auto industry.

Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. Is a Chinese automobile manufacturer headquartered in Wuhu, Anhui province. Despite its young age, the Chery brand is widely known all over the world and not only sells, but also manufactures cars in several countries outside of China, including Russia.

Chery manufactures cars, minivans, SUVs. The commercial vehicles that the company assembles are sold under the Karry brand. The automaker includes a separate division, Chery Engine, which is engaged in the manufacture of engines.

Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. was established in 1997 at the initiative of the Wuhu city authorities. The company's shareholders are state-owned enterprises and holdings of Anhui province, as well as small investors. The car manufacturing equipment was purchased from Ford Motor for $ 25 million.

In 1999 the first car of the brand comes out. For its production, the SEAT Toledo chassis was used. The model was named Fengyun. During its development, spare parts and drawings were unauthorizedly bought, which could lead to a lawsuit from Volkswagen, but the dispute was resolved out of court. For the manufacture of the engine, they bought outdated Ford equipment. It was a 1.6-liter power unit with 94 hp. Later the motor was replaced by the modern TRITEC and ACTECO.

Chery Fengyun (1999-2006)

At that time, China had very strict regulations preventing new players from entering the automotive market. Therefore, for almost two years, Chery has officially produced only "car components". Chery received permission to sell cars throughout the country in 2001.

Then 20% of Chery Automobile shares were transferred to SAIC. This is what allowed the brand to enter the entire Chinese market. However, SAIC soon sold its stake due to increased tensions between Chery and another partner, General Motors.

Also in 2001, Chery began supplying cars to Syria, becoming the first Chinese company to export cars.

Two years later, Chery establishes its own R&D department. An agreement is signed with the Iranian company SKT Group, according to which the supply of components for the production of cars of the brand begins to Iran.

In 2003, the Chery QQ comes out, which is a redesigned Daewoo Matiz. Due to its low cost, and this is one of the cheapest production cars in the world, the model has gained immense popularity in China. She became the best-selling car of the brand.

In 2010, its electric version Chery QQ3 EV was released with a range of movement only on electric traction of 100 km. Later, the car in a slightly redesigned form was presented at the Guangzhou Motor Show in 2011, and in 2013 a new generation debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Chery QQ (2003)

In 2004, the production of Chery cars reaches 200,000 units. The company becomes the leader among Chinese automakers in terms of export volumes. At the beginning of the year, Chery discovers the Cuban market, and by the end of 2004, it sells its cars in 24 countries around the world.

In 2005, Chery starts producing high-tech engines of the new generation ACTECO. They were developed together with the Austrian company AVL. The Chinese brand has mastered the production of a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines with a volume of 0.8 to 4 liters.

In the same year, the company's first crossover, the Tiggo model, was released. Despite the similarity to the Toyota RAV4, or maybe thanks to it, the model has become very popular not only in China. It was collected in Uruguay, Italy, Egypt. In Russia, the assembly of cars of the model until 2008 was carried out at the Kaliningrad plant "Avtotor", and then at TagAZ.

Chery Tiggo (2006)

In December 2005, Chery opens a subsidiary in Russia. It was the first overseas subsidiary of a Chinese car manufacturer. In the same year, the assembly of Chery cars in Novosibirsk is being established. Since 2006, cars of the brand have been assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.

In 2006, Chery Fora appears - a front-wheel drive sedan of class C, which is assembled in Russia at the TagAZ plant under the name Vortex Estina. It is equipped with a transversely mounted four-cylinder aluminum engine with Euro 4 emission levels.

Chery Fora (2006)

In the same year, the production of cars starts in Indonesia and Ukraine, agreements are concluded on deliveries to Turkey and assembly in Egypt.

In March 2007, Chery became the leader in monthly sales in the domestic market, ahead of Shanghai Volkswagen, FAW Volkswagen and Shanghai GM.

At the same time, the Riich II minivan was launched for the Chinese market. Its debut took place at the 2006 Shanghai Auto Show. When developing the car, special attention was paid to aerodynamics, safety, economy and interior comfort.

The car received a 1.3-liter engine with 83 hp, 15-centimeter ground clearance, room for seven passengers and a reinforced body structure.

Chery Riich II (2007)

In 2010, cars of the brand participate in the Dakar rally, where they occupy 28th and 29th places.

Now Chery Automobile unites 6 automobile factories and 11 assembly production lines all over the world. Together with the American MTS Systems, she carries out work on testing cars.

The Chinese automaker has partnerships with companies such as Lotus, Mitsubishi, Pininfarina, Bertone.

The Ambition Line, which includes the Bonus 3 and Arrizo 7 sedans and the Tiggo 5 crossover, was created as part of cooperation with other automakers and a strategy to improve the cars produced. They are the result of the company's work to introduce innovative technologies and systems for maximum safety.

Chery Arrizo 7 (2013)

In 2014, a plant opens in Brazil. Now Chery intends to continue expanding in the global market and develop automotive technologies in its own production. Thus, developments are underway in the field of improving hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as sites for the construction of new plants are being selected.

Russia is a country with a tough and harsh climate. Therefore, on domestic roads, there are often cars that are able to adapt and work in these conditions. A huge number of different crossovers and SUVs are presented on the Russian car market. The most popular among which is the model - Chery Tiggo.

This car is affordable and also has its advantages and disadvantages. Our compatriots and fans of this brand are interested in where Cherie Tiggo 2017 is collected for domestic roads? The fact is that this crossover is brought to us in Russia from China. There, the car is produced at an enterprise in Dalian (northeast of China). In our country, for some time, the twin brother of this model, the Vortex Tingo, was assembled in Taganrog at the TAGAZ enterprise. But, the plant did not function for a long time and went bankrupt.

Therefore, in the domestic market you can only buy a purebred "Chinese". An interesting fact is that since the release of the car, it has not been updated for eight years. But, last year, the Chinese decided to modernize this car model and present it in a completely new light. The manufacturer tried to change the car, but still, the features of its predecessors remained.

Interior and exterior of the crossover

If we compare the Cherie Tiggo salon of the latest generation with its predecessor, then everything here was done differently, so to speak, from scratch. The car is still designed to carry five passengers. New finishing materials are most noticeable, now there is no low-quality plastic and poor sound insulation. The Chinese used better materials and improved sound insulation at times. The quality of finishing materials used for this car model is in no way inferior to German quality.

Now you can proudly answer the question: where is Chery Tiggo produced? Since the car turned out to be a worthy competitor in its segment. Also, the cabin now has new seats with lateral support and adjustment. Right in the center is the dashboard, which includes a navigation system and a large multimedia center. All interior details are very well matched to each other. If the buyer wishes, he can order a car with leather or ordinary fabric upholstery. Now it is calm and quiet inside the car, since there are no more low-quality plastic elements here. Further on the appearance of the "Chinese". Note that the Tiggo model is the first car of the company, the design of which was developed from scratch. From now on, the Chinese do not copy the appearance from other German and European cars, they managed to create something of their own, and this pleases.

True, when creating the appearance of Cherie Tiggo, it was not without the help of Opel specialists, they helped to create a modern and original crossover. Experts are confident that such a move will allow the Chinese to attract more buyers to their brainchild. Thanks to its memorable and impressive exterior, the crossover can compete not only in the domestic but also in the global market.

The technical side

Where Cherie Tiggo is made plays an important role when buying a car. Especially often, this question is asked by our compatriots to dealers. This is quite normal, as the build quality matters to the Russians. The 2016 Cherie Tiggo crossover has become much larger in size compared to its predecessor. Now its dimensions are almost the same as those of the famous Land Rover SUVs and Volkswagen Tiguan. And so, the dimensions of the Tiggo: 4506 mm × 1841 mm × 1740 mm. But, even with the increase in size, the luggage compartment is small here.

Its volume is only 370 liters. This "Chinese" has an insignificant ground clearance - 16.3 centimeters. The car of this model is equipped with only one gasoline power plant. Chiggo has a 2.0-liter engine producing 139 horsepower. On the other hand, buyers have the opportunity to purchase a car with both mechanical and automatic gearboxes. It can be a five-speed "mechanics" or a stepless variator. The budget of this crossover is slightly reflected in its technical characteristics. It is known that the car has front-wheel drive, which is not always enough for off-road operation. The manufacturer took this moment into account, and promised that from this year, they will also produce front-wheel drive Tiggos for Russia.

It does not take much time to assemble Chery Tiggo 2016, since the process at the Chinese enterprise is fully automated. The new Chinese SUV will cost the Russians 650,000 rubles. For this price, the owner will receive a car with a good range of options. The basic equipment of the car includes:

  • air conditioning
  • front airbags
  • aBS and ABD systems
  • proprietary audio system
  • power package
  • rear parking sensors.
