Comparison of Nissan Qashqai and Mazda Cx 5. Which is better: Mazda CX5 or Nissan Qashqai? Interior and luggage compartment

When choosing a crossover, there are a lot of questions and doubts about which brand and model is better to give preference to. The assortment is really huge, which makes life much more difficult for the buyer.

To dwell on one of the options, it would be logical to compare competing cars that potentially attract and satisfy the buyer according to the main criteria. By comparing the two cars, you can draw the appropriate conclusions and finally make a final decision.

There is no denying that there are SUVs available on the market that look equally attractive, have decent technical characteristics and rich equipment. It is difficult to determine the favorite between them, since each person pursues certain goals, has personal preferences and his own taste.

In this case, two Japanese crossovers will be considered,. This is the CX-5 from Mazda and the Qashqai from Nissan.

General information

The new generation Nissan Qashqai officially debuted in 2014. This is the second generation of the model, which is a bestseller in Europe and Russia. In March 2017, a re-styled version was presented, within which the design was slightly changed, the interior was improved, the steering system was modernized and a number of other smaller adjustments were made.

Another update, but already technical, appeared in the fall of 2018. Alas, this did not affect Russian consumers in any way. Moreover, after restyling, a diesel engine is no longer offered in Russia. Only gasoline engines remained in the ICE line.

The basis for creating a new generation of Qashqai is the modular CMF platform. Moreover, Qashqai was the first model that was assembled on this cart.

The second generation Mazda CX-5 was presented in November 2016. Moreover, experts note that the change of generation is more like a deep restyling. Judge for yourself, because the new crossover is being built simply on a somewhat modernized platform. The car received more modern equipment, but there were no significant visual changes.

Mazda is based on the first generation platform, but with some modifications. The body is made on the basis of high-strength steel, which made it possible to increase the torsional rigidity.

Both crossovers are classified as compact SUVs. At the same time, the Mazda representative turned out to be somewhat larger than his opponent. This is confirmed by the corresponding dimensions.

The Nissan Qashqai has the following dimensions:

  • length 4377 mm .;
  • height 1590 mm .;
  • width 1806 mm .;
  • wheelbase 2646 mm.;
  • ground clearance (clearance) 200 mm.

Mazda with its CX-5 crossover meets the following parameters:

  • length 4555 mm .;
  • width 1840 mm .;
  • height 1670 mm .;
  • wheelbase 2700 mm.;
  • clearance (ground clearance) 215 mm.

If you are in doubt about which one is better to stop your choice, choosing between Mazda CX 5 or Nissan Qashqai, we recommend that you study the cars according to different parameters and draw appropriate conclusions.

Exterior

When comparing the new generation Nissan Qashqai after restyling with many competitors, the latter had no chance, since the Qashqai looks really cool, modern and European.

But it turned out to be much more difficult to compare such cars as Nissan Qashqai and Mazda СХ5. It is almost impossible to single out a clear favorite.

Mazda looks more brutal, has muscular forms. It's more of a mid-size SUV than a compact crossover. This is exactly the impression that is created when looking at this car.

The new global design of KODO has made the new Mazda vehicles one of the most striking and recognizable on the international stage. It is difficult not to notice such a car in the stream. Although there are those who consider such an exterior design unfortunate and ugly.

It is extremely difficult and practically impossible to objectively judge the appearance. Qashqai meets Mazda with no less muscular forms, stylish solutions, neat lines, original front and rear optics. A truly modern and youthful car.

Here, everyone must rely on their own taste and personal design preferences. But it cannot be denied that the design of the Qashqai and CX-5 are distinctive, beautiful and unlike many other competitors in their class. The designers did their best, and here we put a confident equal sign.

Interior and luggage compartment

Inside, Qashqai looks European. Restrained in places, solid and bright in places. The balance between the quality of the materials used and the ergonomics is at a high level. Due to the use of large elements in the interior, the car looks richer.

The owners are attracted by a comfortable multifunctional steering wheel, a well-thought-out center console, and a well-designed dashboard. Sometimes it seems that there are too many buttons and controls. Moreover, each of them takes its place without interfering with the management of other nodes and systems.

The salon is five-seater, the back can accommodate three adults, although not with a huge margin of legroom. Much depends on the size of the passenger himself. The rear sofa has 3 headrests and 3 dedicated seats. Although the pillows themselves are flat, they are quite stiff. Here Nissan made a mistake, and the rear sofa should be redone after the next update.

There are absolutely no complaints about the Qashqai front seats. Wide range of adjustments, optimal rigidity, pronounced lateral support. Sitting on such chairs is a pleasure.

Mazda CX-5 responds with no less profitable solutions in the cabin. The dashboard is made in a minimalist style, which is due to the presence of a large multimedia touch screen in the center of 7 inches. In front of the driver is a stylish three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and behind it is a combination of devices, complemented by a 4.6-inch on-board computer screen. The central tunnel, which separates the driver and front passenger, looks harmonious as well.

The build level is extremely decent, the interior is based on high quality materials. With its dimensions and positioning as a 5-seater crossover, the rear sofa for some reason has a pronounced division into 2 seats, albeit with 3 headrests. That is, sitting in the middle is not very profitable.

The front and rear seats have good lateral support, the right stiffness and a wide range of adjustments. The stock of legroom is solid. Together on the back sofa, you can feel as imposing as possible. But even three adults will be accommodated here without any problems.

The luggage compartment in the second generation Mazda CX5 in the stowed position holds up to 403 liters of cargo up to the waistline. The back row can be lowered to create a level floor. As a result, the volume of the luggage compartment increases to 1560 liters. In the underground there is a niche with a full size spare wheel. The tailgate itself, if you pay extra, gets an electric drive and remote control.

Despite the slightly larger dimensions of Mazda, the trunk in the Qashqai was larger. Nominally, it has 430 liters, and when the rear row of seats is folded, 1585 liters are obtained. The floor is perfectly level, and underneath is a niche with a full-size spare wheel.

In both cases, the interior is thought out correctly, organically and has a high level of practicality. Outwardly, everything looks great, in line with European trends and traditional Japanese quality.

Despite the Qashqai's slightly superior trunk space, Mazda responds by providing more rear seat space. At the same time, the Mazda rear sofa is formatted for 2 passengers, while the Nissan has three seats. There is also the downside of the Qashqai's overly stiff filler, while the CX-5 has optimal stiffness and lateral support.

And if we sum up the results in terms of the interior and trunks, then we can give the preponderance to Mazda. Still, the level of comfort is higher, and the 27-liter difference in the luggage compartment is not as significant as the increased rigidity of the rear sofa. Ahead in both cases, everything is great.

Motors and gearboxes

In the confrontation between Mazda CX 5 VS Nissan Qashqai, it is impossible to determine the leader based only on the interior and exterior. Therefore, the analysis of the proposed power units and will become a logical continuation of the comparison.

After the restyling of Russian buyers, Nissan Qashqai was deprived of the opportunity to take a diesel engine. This naturally upset many, since the engine had good dynamics and, at the same time, consumed very little fuel.

As a result, there were only 2 gasoline engines left to choose from.

  • The base for Qashqai is a turbocharged 1.2-liter internal combustion engine with 4 cylinders. It generates 115 horsepower and 190 Nm. For such a motor, a six-speed manual box or a variator, devoid of steps, is offered.
  • The older engine is naturally aspirated. There are also 4 working cylinders, but the volume is already 2.0 liters. Of these, 144 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque are squeezed out. Such an internal combustion engine can be equipped with a six-speed mechanics and the same variator. But the variator also allows you to take an all-wheel drive modification.

Comparing the Nissan Qashqai VS Mazda CX-5 will not be correct if you are initially looking for a crossover with maximum power. Here Mazda takes the lead, offering also only 2 petrol engines. Both are atmospheric and belong to the Skyactive G family.

  1. The base engine is a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine. It gives out 150 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque. That is, the base engine of Mazda is superior to the top-end engine from Qashqai. A choice of six-speed manual and six-speed automatic. Also, the car can go with full or only front-wheel drive, regardless of the box.
  2. The top engine for Russia is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder aspirated engine with a return of 194 horsepower and 256 Nm of torque. Here, in terms of gearboxes and drives, there is no need to choose. There is no alternative, such an engine is combined only with an automatic machine and all-wheel drive.

Purely in terms of power, Mazda looks like an obvious favorite. But power is not always the key to the consumer. Many are willing to sacrifice horsepower for lower fuel consumption.

Fuel consumption and dynamics

Let's start with the Nissan Qashqai, and look at its dynamics and fuel consumption:

  • The junior engine with mechanics and variator accelerates from zero to hundred in 10.9 and 12.9 seconds, respectively. At the same time, fuel consumption is 5.6 and 6.2 liters per 100 km for the manual transmission and the variator in the combined cycle.
  • The senior motor on mechanics reaches 100 km / h in 9.9 seconds, consuming an average of 7.7 liters of fuel per 100 km. With a variator, acceleration takes 10.1 and 10.5 seconds with front and all-wheel drive, and consumption varies between 6.9-7.3 liters per 100 km of distance traveled.

The maximum speed for the Nissan Qashqai depends on the engine, gearbox and drive. The slowest version accelerates to 173 km / h. This is a junior motor with a variator. And the maximum is given by a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine with mechanics, which develops 194 km / h.

The dynamics of the Mazda СХ5 are naturally better. Although the superiority was not as significant as some expected to see. The younger engine accelerates in about 9.4 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour. The top engine can accelerate in 7.9 seconds. The maximum speed is from 187 to 197 kilometers per hour.

On a combined cycle, a car consumes between 6.2 and 7.3 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers of road.

As a result, it turns out that the CX-5 goes faster, has superiority in top speed and dynamics. But what is most surprising is the fact that Mazda's gas mileage was lower, based on the passport data, than that of Qashqai with initially more powerful engines.

Many people rightly point out that the Qashqai lacks power for its weight. If you add at least another 20-30 hp. in the base engine, the situation will improve significantly. But we have what we have.

In terms of dynamics and fuel consumption, the favorite was a car made by Mazda. The CX-5 has good dynamics, optimal power for its size, and is fuel efficient. This is a huge merit of modern Skyactive G engines, which, without turbocharging, using conventional atmospheric technology, demonstrate exemplary performance.

Cross-country ability and handling

Mazda СХ5 behaves and feels superiority at any speed, including those that exceed the permitted limits. The suspension can be called elastic and rather knocked down. The actuation on serious obstacles is not perfectly smooth, but the driver, along with the passengers, can feel it.

When driving, people in front and behind feel equally well. Due to its high ground clearance, the Mazda runs well over small curbs and pits.

The steering is quite sharp and obedient, responds in time to the slightest changes in the position of the steering wheel. Thanks to the numerous electronics, Mazda is easy, reliable and calm to operate.

The competitor's suspension, if we compare the capabilities of Mazda СХ5 and Nissan Qashqai cars, has some flaws and claims. Suspension tuning is clearly aimed at maximum comfort in urban conditions, and in this comparison Nissan is only slightly ahead of Mazda. As a result, the Qashqai is soft and quiet when passing through small bumps. But if the car turns out to be in deep holes, unpleasant knocks immediately appear. A sharp maneuver is followed by a noticeable roll, which negatively affects the sharpness of the steering. The ground clearance, although it has a solid 200 mm, is not enough for off-road conditions. Forced Nissan can drive through a difficult section, but deliberately should not go there.

Security options

Both crossovers from Japanese automakers have received an extensive list of systems and options that are responsible for active and passive safety. These include:

  • airbags;
  • Break Assist and more.

Even in the basic configuration, both cars have 6 airbags.

Naturally, both cars received 5 stars from the EuroNCAP laboratory. Therefore, in the context of safety, there is fair equality between the two crossovers under consideration.

Cost and configuration

Nissan Qashqai was initially positioned as a more affordable car than the Mazda CX5. This is due to the fact that the Mazda brand itself is more expensive, judging by the entire lineup. Plus the CX-5 is bigger, has more powerful motors and other reasons for raising the starting price tag.

For Russia, Qashqai is available in 10 trim levels. The simplest version will cost at least 1.3 million rubles. The minimum set of equipment (XE equipment) with all-wheel drive will cost from 1.6 million rubles.

Top-end versions, where there is a 2.0-liter engine, CVT and front-wheel drive, start at 1.9 million rubles. You won't be able to buy an all-wheel drive version for less than 2 million rubles.

In the case of the Mazda CX5, Russian consumers are offered 3 equipment options. These are the Drive, Active and Supreme trim levels. In the initial version, the car costs from 1.6 million rubles, that is, approximately as the average level of the competitor's equipment.

Top versions of the crossover from Mazda cost from 2.2 million rubles. A really rich and almost fully equipped version of an SUV can be taken for 2.5 million rubles.

Who to give preference to

At the end of this comparison, you need to answer the question of what is better when you have a Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX5 in front of you.

Both cars look decent and definitely qualify for your garage. But it is extremely difficult to name a favorite. Each crossover demonstrated a certain superiority over a competitor, and lost somewhere to him. To summarize, the more victories were on the side of Mazda.

The CX-5 has a striking design like the Qashqai. At the same time, the Mazda interior, albeit a little, turned out to be better. Mazda also offers more modern engines with excellent power output, decent dynamics and exemplary economy. The engine power for the Qashqai is less, the dynamics are worse, but there is still no superiority in fuel consumption.

Plus, the Mazda crossover has better cross-country ability, it copes more confidently with difficult road sections, feels good in off-road conditions, although it is positioned as a city SUV. It is not recommended to deliberately get into such conditions on Qashqai. The car will not go everywhere.

Yes, the cost of the CX-5 is higher. But there are a number of objective reasons for this. In terms of trim levels, Nissan did better by offering more equipment as standard. But this is not a reason to give the palm to Nissan's crossover. For all the advantages and disadvantages, the Mazda CX-5 is the winner in this comparison. Although Nissan Qashqai lost, but it is a decent and very good car, demonstrating all over the world, including the Russian market.

When a desire to purchase a crossover arises, almost every motorist is faced with a choice between the two most popular cars: Mazda CX-5 and Nissan Qashqai. These models are leaders in the automotive market. To compare the Mazda SH5 and Nissan Qashqai, you need to learn in detail about each of them: advantages, similarities and fundamental differences.

Appearance of cars

What a car looks like is important for everyone. During a walk, attention is first drawn to the appearance of the car, and then to the brand. Therefore, it is worth finding out which is better - Nissan Qashqai or Mazda CX5 - according to external parameters.

Externally, the 2016 Nissan Qashqai and the Mazda CX 5 are similar. The design of one and the other speaks of power. In the case of Nissan, the opinion is deceiving. It looks elegant and Mazda is assertive. The effect is achieved thanks to a massive ventilation grill in the front of the car and a straight line above the door handles.

The exterior of the Mazda CX-5 embodies the manufacturer's concept called KODO (translated as "driving soul").
In the matter of the exterior, one cannot say for sure which is better - Mazda or Nissan. If you like the classic style of the car, give preference to the Nissan Qashqai. If you want to have a sportier car, choose the CX-5.

Characteristic

  • both diesel cars with automatic gearbox;
  • fuel consumption is the same, approximately 7.5 l / 100 km;
  • engine displacement 1997 cc;
  • in all other parameters, Mazda CX-5 wins;
  • the power of Mazda cx5 is 150 hp, the Qashqai has 144 hp;
  • acceleration time - 8.9 s, for Qashqai - a whole second longer (9.9 s);
  • clearance for Mazda is 215 mm, for Nissan is 190 mm;
  • CX-5 is all-wheel drive, while Kashkaya has front-wheel drive;
  • The advantages of Nissan include the volume of the trunk (430 liters). The SH-5 has 403 hp. But the Mazda CX-5 has a more spacious cabin.

It is safe to say that Mazda is more powerful and better. Power is given by a greater number of cylinders (there are 4 of them, Nissan Qashqai has 2). Thanks to them, the jeep accelerates to 200 km / h, which is the maximum speed for this model. For Nissan, this figure is 170 km / h.

A feature of Qashqai is the bulbs near the front mirrors, which light up if the car is overtaken, as well as a panoramic glass roof. What makes Mazda stand out is the fuel-saving i-stop system. It is useful, for example, while waiting for a green traffic light.

In terms of safety, both cars deserve top praise. They have more than 6 airbags, ABS, emergency braking system Brake Assist, ESP stability stabilization, UAS hill start assist, ASR traction control and much more.

Considering the listed characteristics, it is worth noting that both models have a number of advantages. When choosing CX5 or Qashqai, you need to decide for what specific purpose you need a crossover. Mazda CX-5 is suitable for off-road driving enthusiasts. The Nissan Qashqai is designed for quiet city driving on well-paved roads.

Which car to give preference to

The price difference between the two crossovers is $ 2,000. Mazda СX-5 is more expensive. If we compare both cars, then Mazda clearly shows the advantage over Nissan. She:

  • more spacious;
  • more powerful;
  • has good dynamics;
  • intended for city driving;
  • suitable for off-road racing.

Given these parameters, the question "what to buy - Nissan Qashqai or Mazda CX-5" does not arise.

“They usually get cars from here by helicopter,” either joked or sympathized with the local “jeeper” who “tore off more than one towing eyelet here”. Meanwhile, Nissan Qashqai lagged behind Mazda by several tens of meters: the crossover could not overcome the track overgrown with slippery grass. The all-wheel drive system works almost without errors, throwing the moment to the right wheel, and it seems that the Qashqai is about to go ashore, but the suspension arms are retracted into the ground.

The clearance of the Nissan assembled in Russia in comparison with the English version was increased by exactly one centimeter - this was achieved due to the stiffer springs and shock absorbers. As a result, the Qashqai's ground clearance turned out to be very decent for its class - 200 millimeters. So you can't complain about the geometric cross-country ability of the Japanese crossover - if Nissan frankly does not export somewhere, then this is definitely not a problem with low bumpers.

Mazda CX-5 risked remaining in the swampy slurry forever - the body slowly sank deeper and deeper, which even had to turn off the engine. The Land Cruiser Prado seemed like a sure savior, but the trouble started with the crossover's towing eyelet getting stuck in the mud. After the "Mazda" somehow managed to hook on the dynamic line, the problems began already with Prado.

On a very viscous surface, even the Land Cruiser Prado, prepared for the difficulties, was helpless - it simply does not have a “barn” mode. The Japanese SUV is equipped with a highly intelligent Multi-terrain Select system that fine-tunes engine, transmission and suspension modes to suit current road conditions. For most road conditions, these packages are sufficient, where the electronics itself decides how much slip to allow, whether individual wheels need to be braked and what traction limit must be ensured in order to overcome a steep hill. In addition, the Land Cruiser Prado has "classic" locks for interaxle and rear interwheel differentials. You can, of course, also turn on the lowering row and raise the stern thanks to the rear air struts.

Prado, unlike its competitors, did not fall into the abyss - at some point it simply hung in place, burying itself even deeper. What was under the wheels of the SUV is difficult to call the earth. However, when the Land Cruiser cannot budge, another Land Cruiser comes to its aid - in our case, it was a turbodiesel version of the previous generation. Towbar, dynamic sling, blocking - and the prepared SUV pulled out two cars at once.

Lumps of clay, monotonous sounds of the engine and a terrible rumble - this is not military action, but just a Nissan Qashqai, whose road tread is completely clogged. He, on the verge of a foul, overcame another difficult section and was already preparing to turn around, when he refused to go on the necessary tractor and got stuck in the deepest puddle on the route. But Qashqai unexpectedly refused the services of the Land Cruiser Prado: a few minutes of races - and the crossover independently got out onto the asphalt without a hint of overheating of the variator.
Mazda CX-5 passed along the path of "Kashkaya" gracefully, almost without mistakes. Where there was a lack of grip on slippery surfaces, a 192-horsepower engine came to the rescue. There was no need to complain about the geometric cross-country ability: the ground clearance from the lowest point of the bottom to the ground is 215 millimeters. This is already quite off-road performance, but the overall potential outside the asphalt was slightly spoiled by bulky overhangs. "Clack clat bang" - this CX-5 jumps over bumps, every time the rear bumper clings to the ground. Better to be careful with speed than looking for bumper clips in the clay. But the crossover does not forgive mistakes: once we were modest with the "gas" - we run after the Land Cruiser.

So, August is already in full swing.

The 4th summer (calendar) of operation of this Kashkai, bought new in 2011, is coming to an end.

Since this is a weekend car and tour trips, on the upcoming vacation in Sochi I will fly by plane, and until September 1 I will hardly go far in it, then we can definitely sum up some results.

Strengths:

Weak sides:

Review of Nissan Qashqai 2.0 (Nissan Qashqai) 2010 Part 2

So 5 years have passed. Mileage 45000 km. I did not go to TO-4, I changed the engine oil, oil and air filters myself. Doesn't eat oil.

What has been done: change the front wipers. Replacing burned out front dipped beam lamps at 32,000 km. At one time, there was some kind of metallic clicking sound in the area of \u200b\u200bthe engine when the selector was switched to the "drive" mode. The official service did not say anything intelligible about this, the Internet is also silent. Scored. There was a crunching sound in the grenades when turning the steering wheel. Scored on him. It passed by itself. In winter, there was a creak when turning the steering wheel. The Internet writes that this is some kind of rubber band on the steering shaft. At positive temperatures, the creak disappears. Scored. One mudguard flew off under the bottom (such as the wings), the other just took off for symmetry :) Several times the fasteners that hold the foil protection between the exhaust pipe and the bottom were unwound. Battery died, replaced with a new one. Moreover, his death at first raised doubts. Happened at the most inopportune moment.

When arriving from Astrakhan to St. Petersburg, somewhere near Tver, on the highway, at night, from Saturday to Sunday, the car did not start. Everything works, turn signals, lighting, but the car won't start. The starter will crack and that's it. Frankly, I experienced unpleasant sensations. Rather reflexively than on a whim, he threw the terminals off the battery and went to bed. After 3 hours I tried to start it again. And, lo and behold, the car reluctantly, but started up! Until Peter turned off the engine. Ironically, this happened literally a couple of kilometers from the Tverskoy Nissan salon. Upon arrival, I took the battery from another car. Thus, it became clear that it was precisely in him.

Strengths:

Reliability

Build quality and finish

Weak sides:

Gasoline consumption 12-13 liters in the city.

Review of Nissan Qashqai 2.0 (Nissan Qashqai) 2011 Part 8

So, two days later, the 4th winter (calendar) operation of this Kashkai, bought new in 2011, ends.

Since this is my weekend car, and now it is parked in the parking lot, and until March 1 I will hardly go anywhere in it, then we can definitely sum up some results.

During all this time, there were no breakdowns on the car. Well, do not consider the replacement of consumables for MOT as breakdowns, and one burned-out light bulb in the headlight (bought and replaced it myself). There are no crickets, extraneous noises and rumblings. The machine does not eat oil at all, no liquids flow out of anywhere. Gasoline consumption for 45 thousand km the average for receipts (Moscow + region + few routes) - 10.7 liters. Service - from the officials, according to the full program recommended by them (usually they offer to do something else besides the regulations).

Strengths:

The car is unpretentious for Russian roads, services, gasoline, etc., with a wide service network, without problems with consumables (except for the front wipers) and spare parts (ugh 3 times).

Not particularly hijacked (CASCO is inexpensive).

Large gas tank (65 liters).

It does not splash with mud (neither the muzzle, nor the sides, nor the rear, nor the roof), there is no aerodynamic noise up to 150 km / h.

A good range of adjustments in the front seats (everyone who has no back problems can find a comfortable fit).

Excellent visibility in mirrors and glass without blind spots. The glasses do not sweat.

Excellent geometry for driving on city pits and curbs (this is his element).

The brain does not soar either on long journeys (you can sleep inside), or in daily urban use.

I like the work of the variator in urban traffic conditions (while it works for me, ugh 3 times).

In its warranty resource (3 years or 100 thousand km) - most likely it will not cause any trouble.

Weak sides:

In severe frost and snowfall, the brushes of regular wipers freeze (it would not hurt to heat them or at least select non-freezing ones, but too lazy to fool around).

There is not enough steering wheel heating (you have to sit down in winter and ride with gloves for the first time).

The reliability of the variator (and the cost of repairing or replacing it) is still in question. Some (very rarely) are unlucky (twitches or breaks altogether). Replacing with a new one is expensive, but repair and maintenance are no more expensive than an automatic transmission.

Small trunk (your set of tires barely fits) and not a spacious rear row. For those who like to carry a lot - not the best option.

The dynamics of the car is not for those who like to "burn out", but for driving by the rules - more than.

There are too many such cars on the streets, not only in Russia, but all over the world (in Europe - for sure).

At the standard (purchased from the officials) roof rack (two crossbars) on the sinks with a stream of water from the Karcher, the film on the support brackets can be torn off. If you hammer on this (there will be bare metal instead of black film), then this is the best option for the trunk (I have tried several different ones).

The Nissan Qashqai crossover has established itself as a fairly budget option, if this definition is suitable for cars with a price of more than a million rubles. But does this economy pay off? To answer this question, let's try to compare CX 5

Off-road

Nissan Qashqai vs Mazda CX 5 - which is better? Everything is relative! Many people know that Qashqai shares a common base with Nissan hatchbacks, so they believe that the car has only the shape of an SUV, but will drown in the first puddle. Is it so?

Indeed, the most powerful engine of the Kashkaev line is a two-liter gasoline engine with an output power of 144 hp. Very modest against the background of 150 hp, which is produced by a Mazda engine of the same volume. But the torque at the power plant of Kashkai is not so bad 200 N * m, but sometimes it is the torque that is decisive when storming off-road.

But torque is not the only way Qashqai makes up for the lack of power. Its main feature is the 4 × 4-i all-wheel drive system, to which Nissan mechanics paid special attention. Three driving modes are available to the driver:

  1. 2WD - as you might guess, only two wheels (front) will be leading in this mode, regardless of driving conditions;
  2. Auto - the on-board computer decides for itself when to use four-wheel drive. By default, the car remains front-wheel drive, the automation connects the rear axle when entering a turn, slipping, the danger of skidding. Analogue of the mode.
  3. Lock - the car turns into a full 4x. At the same time, smart automation will itself distribute the torque between the wheels, depending on the grip. At a speed of 80 km / h or more, the system automatically switches from Lock to Auto.

And what will Mazda vs Qashqai answer? According to Mazda designers, the driver's business is to enjoy high-speed driving without being distracted by the transmission. The only default operating mode of the rear-wheel drive is the analogue of Nissan's Auto. Forced blocking is available as an option.

Mazda's emphasis was clearly on power and speed: the 2.5-liter gasoline unit produces 196 hp with a torque of 256 N * m. Obviously better than Nissan. Excellent performance on the highway does not show itself to the proper extent in the mud - the automatic machine constantly tries to raise the revs, causing offensive slippage.

Despite the very good ground clearance for a crossover (210mm), Mazda strives to scoop up the dirt with its outstanding radiator grille. The ground clearance of Nissan Qashqai is 190 mm, but on Russian-assembled cars it has been far-sightedly increased to 200 - the peculiarities of the place of operation are taken into account. True, it is easy to leave a mud-protecting bumper apron on a particularly unfortunate bump.

If we compare the radiator grill, in general, Mazda is well protected from dirt. Massive thresholds almost completely cover the doors and sides of the car from dirt and splashes. The rear door is protected from splashes by a matte wide bumper strip.

In the city and on the highway

Despite the wide "jeep" CX 5 is perfectly controlled, instantly obeys the steering wheel and easily enters the turn. Precision control allows you to make rather risky maneuvers, which is also facilitated by excellent visibility from the driver's seat.

The very good (in its class) dynamics of Mazda also contributes to overtaking maneuvers - the car "jumps" a hundred from a place in 9.4 seconds, as well as the SPORT mode in which the engine "squeezes out" higher revs.

In a corner, the ground clearance also makes itself felt - the roll on bends is quite sensitive. Not enough to expect a coup, but it still takes some getting used to.

Well, if you didn't manage to bypass the traffic jam, despite everything, the i-STOP system will help you avoid unnecessary fuel consumption by turning off the engine during a long stop.

The Nissan Qashqai is clearly not built to break speed records. The dynamics of acceleration to hundreds is a very modest 11.1 s. The steering wheel is free, the number of revolutions from edge to edge is three and a quarter, a relatively good indicator of a city car without claims to be sporty.

Sports mode - yes. And this is the only thing that can be said about it, as well as about the "eco" mode. But the variator behaves perfectly, precisely maintaining the desired speed. If desired, you can switch to manual mode.

Exterior and interior

Appearance is a matter of taste. If the Mazda CX-5, even taking into account the extreme restyling of 2015, has already managed to "blur" the eye, then the Qashqai 2016 is quite fresh and attracts attention. But it is clear that this phenomenon is temporary, especially since the Mazdovites are not asleep - a new version of the CX-5 appearance is on the way.

If you look at objective data, the picture is as follows:

Although Nissan is wider, this place is "eaten up" by the transmission tunnel, so there is still more space in the Mazda cabin. And the luggage compartment is larger - 443 liters against exactly 400 at Kashkai.

Both the compared cars - Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX 5 - are equally relevant to the car class and the award of victory in this category depends entirely on specific tastes.

As for the hardware content, Mazda stands out for its excellent parking sensors, which pleasantly surprises with the accuracy of its work. This is especially important considering that the car is one of the longest in its class.

But Qashqai takes its toll with the system of all-round visibility and control of "dead zones". A light bulb in the passenger compartment on the right or on the left will draw the driver's attention to the fact that someone "got used" from the corresponding side. We will never know how many motorcyclists owe their lives to such a useful device.

In the cabin of the top-end Nissan Qashqai, the first thing that attracts attention is the panoramic glass roof.

What is the price of the issue? The "default" Mazda CX 5 with a two-liter engine costs about 1,300,000 rubles, the Russian-assembled Nissan Qashqai is 200,000 cheaper. Whether it is worth supporting a domestic manufacturer, albeit under the auspices of a Japanese brand, is up to you.
