3 Insufficient lubrication in the engine - possible consequences

Any modern motor operates under strong mechanical stress at high temperatures. These factors can change the quality of the lubricant. The loss of its characteristics by the lubricant will lead to rapid wear of the power plant. In such a situation, an analysis of the oil solution carried out under laboratory conditions can give an accurate answer about the quality of the lubricant and the need to replace it.

Engine oil mileage

The need to replace the oil solution in the engine can be calculated without consulting laboratory specialists. For this, it is fashionable to use two calculation methods: by engine hours and by fuel consumption.


The need for replacement by engine hours

The initial data is the stable average speed of the vehicle in the city, the manufacturer's recommendations for changing the lubricant. Let's say the speed in the city is 40 km / h, and the plant's recommendations for replacing are 15,000 km.

To calculate the engine hours, the distance must be divided by the speed limit. In this situation, 15000/40 \u003d 375 m3 / h. The resulting value means that after 375 operating hours of the power plant, it is necessary to change the oil.

The international standard API has developed a summary table of oil change, depending on their type and operating time.

Let us assume that an SL / SM oil solution with a working resource of 330 hours has been filled into the vehicle engine. To determine the mileage, you need to multiply 330 m / h by an average traffic of 40 km / h. As a result, we get 13,200 km mileage until the next grease change.

The need to replace the fuel consumption

The initial data should be fuel consumption per 100 km of movement according to passport data and actual. For example, according to the passport, the consumption is 9 liters per 100 km, and the actual consumption is 11 liters. According to the passport, the oil change should be carried out after 15,000 km of vehicle movement.

The calculation of fuel consumption is carried out by the proportional method for passport and actual data separately. For passport data: 15000x9 / 100 \u003d 1350 liters. For actual data: 15000x11 / 100 \u003d 1650 liters.

The real distance through which it is necessary to fill in new oil is calculated with a similar proportion: 1350x15000 / 1650 \u003d 12,270 km.

Each of the methods can be used for any vehicle. It is only necessary to record the data at the time of pouring grease into the motor.
