How to choose and change coolant in Nissan X-Trail. How to replace antifreeze on a Nissan Tiida with your own hands? How to change coolant for a Nissan laptop

Based on the recommendations of the manufacturer Nissan Almera, the antifreeze should be replaced at intervals of 60,000 km. If the car owner rarely uses the car and drives a little, it is advisable to change the coolant every 3 years. After that, replacement can be done less frequently - after 90,000 km. It is forbidden to use antifreeze after the expiration of the mentioned period, because the coolant loses its properties and is not able to fully protect the motor from overheating.

Which antifreeze is better, and how much to pour into Nissan Almera?

When choosing antifreeze for Nissan Almera, you should focus on the recommendations of the manufacturer. All information is available in the instructions for the car. The main requirement is that the antifreeze is of high quality and made on the basis of ethylene glycol.

The manufacturer recommends Nissan L250 for the next replacement of antifreeze. This composition provides optimal heat removal from the engine and has a relatively long service life. It contains additives that protect against corrosion, prevent coolant leakage and boil-off.

Alternatively, the following formulations can be used:

  • For cars produced in the period from 1995 to 1997, green antifreeze G11 of the following brands can be poured into Nissan Almeria - EVOX Extra, Genantin Super, Havoline AFC, AWM, G-Energy NF.
  • If the car was built between 1998 and 2002, it is recommended to fill with coolant of class G12. Suitable types are G-Energy, MOTUL Ultra, Castrol SF, Lukoil Ultra.
  • It is advisable to pour red G12 + class antifreeze into cars that left the assembly line after 2003 and were produced before 2006. Options - MOTUL Ultra, G-Energy, Lukoil Ultra.
  • If Nissan Almera is produced after 2012, its cooling system requires red G12 ++ antifreeze - Freecor DSC, Castrol Radicool Si, FEBI, VAG.

When replacing antifreeze, you need to stock up on 6.7 liters of coolant (full system capacity).

Replacement process

To carry out the work, prepare a set of tools. To drain the antifreeze, you will need 7 liters of distilled water, wrenches (it is better to take a set), a container for draining the spent coolant, as well as new antifreeze (7 liters). Also put on gloves on your hands, prepare an adhesive sealant and a clean rag.

Draining antifreeze

The first stage of replacing antifreeze on Nissan Almera cars is draining the old fluid:

  1. Remove the motor protection.
  2. Discard the lower tube that is connected to the radiator, then remove the cover.
  3. Unscrew the plugs installed in the drain holes of the cylinder block.
  4. Dismantle the coolant reservoir.
  5. Look at the condition of the drained antifreeze. Pay attention to the presence of various contaminants such as corrosion, rust, and others. Pay attention to the color. If the fluid turns brown, or even black, flush the system.

Flushing the cooling system

The next step is cleaning. Take the following steps:

  1. Fill the radiator with water until it flows out of the bypass plug. Then tighten the plug.
  2. Fill the radiator and reservoir with distillate and tighten the radiator cap.
  3. Start the engine and warm it up to optimum operating temperature.
  4. Press the accelerator pedal 2-3 times without excessive force.
  5. Stop the engine and wait for it to cool down.
  6. Drain off excess liquid.

Pouring new antifreeze

Now the antifreeze is replaced directly. To fill the system with new antifreeze, do the following:

  1. Replace the tank and tighten the plugs that were on the drain holes of the Nissan Almera engine block and radiator.
  2. Apply sealant to the threaded part of the drain plug of the engine. Use only quality products.
  3. Unscrew the bypass plug.
  4. Fill the reservoir and radiator with the required amount of antifreeze until the required level is reached. Take your time to allow air to escape the system.
  5. Tighten the plug when coolant comes out of it.

Start the Nissan Almera engine and wait until it warms up to normal temperature. First remove the cap from the radiator to allow air to escape from the system. If after starting the engine, antifreeze spills out of the neck, replace the cover. Add revs to 3000 and hold this level for 10 seconds. Then, return the engine to idle. Close the radiator cap and repeat this procedure several times. All the time after starting the engine, observe the temperature gauge to avoid overheating.

In fact, the replacement of antifreeze is complete. Follow a few more steps:

  • Stop the engine and let it cool down to 45-50 degrees Celsius. To speed up the process, use a fan for cooling.
  • Top up coolant if required. Antifreeze must reach the beginning of the radiator neck and up to the MAX mark on the reservoir.
  • Inspect the cooling system - there should be no leaks. Check after starting the engine.
  • Warm up the motor, set the temperature regulator to different positions, and listen for the sounds of flowing antifreeze. If noise is heard, then there are still air locks in the system. Let the engine run with the radiator cap open.
  • Wipe off the remnants of antifreeze from the motor with a rag.

Above, the main questions for the car owner are considered - how to drain the antifreeze, what to do to flush the engine, and by what algorithm to fill the system with a new coolant. If you follow the instructions, you can do the work yourself and avoid visiting the service station.

Nissan Note. WHEEL PUNCH (CHANGE WHEEL)

A punctured wheel is a nuisance that sooner or later every driver faces. Air from a punctured wheel can come out quickly or slowly, it depends on the size of the object that punctured the wheel, and on which tires are installed on the car: tube or tubeless. With a small nail in a tubeless tire, you can ride for many days before you notice the tire is flat.

It is very important to determine in time that a puncture has occurred. While driving, pay attention to the car's behavior: if it starts to accelerate poorly, the effort on the steering wheel increases when maneuvering, or directional stability deteriorates, be sure to check the pressure in the wheels.

The easiest way to have a wheel repaired is to contact the nearest tire fitting shop, where the repair will be done quickly, professionally and, as a rule, at an affordable price.

WARNING

Do not try to get to the tire shop with a completely flat tire: it is enough to drive a few tens of meters in this way, and the tire will have to be thrown away.

In the event of a punctured wheel, turn on the hazard warning lights, slowly brake the car to a speed of 2-3 km / h, in first gear, try to move carefully to the edge of the carriageway and stop as far to the right as possible at the side of the road, and if possible, outside the carriageway. If road conditions allow and this does not contradict the requirements of the Road Traffic Rules, then with
If any wheel is punctured on the right side of the car, press against the right shoulder, if punctured on the left - against the left shoulder. Try not to stop the car in places where the road is poorly visible: in sharp turns, on descents and ascents, bridges, in tunnels. If the car remains on the road, first of all ensure your own safety and the safety of other road users! Turn on the hazard warning lights and install the warning triangle.

WARNING

Remember that changing a wheel in the middle of a multi-lane freeway puts your life and the lives of other road users at risk, so in some cases, it may be wise to move the car to the curb or a parking area to replace a wheel, even if the damaged tire eventually deteriorates. Life and health are more expensive than the material costs of buying a new tire.

WARNING

When you return to your parked car and find a punctured wheel, be careful. Perhaps it was punctured by intruders to steal valuables from the car while you are busy replacing a wheel and focusing your attention on work.

1. Engage the 1st gear in the manual transmission or move the variator control lever to the “P” (parking) position, brake the car with the parking brake. Ask passengers to get out of the car. If you have towed a trailer, disconnect it from the vehicle. Remove the key from the ignition to prevent accidental starting of the engine.

NOTE

Everything you need to change a wheel is located in the luggage compartment under the floor cover.

Open the tailgate.

5. Remove the glove box from the luggage compartment.

To make it easier to unscrew the wheel nuts, you can use your foot rather than your hands, stepping on the handle of the wheel wrench from above.

To facilitate loosening the nuts, we recommend purchasing a special wheel wrench with a telescopic handle. It is also convenient to work with a cruciform wheel wrench.

To avoid getting dirty when changing a wheel, wear gloves and overalls, if available in your car.

13. Place a jack under the vehicle next to the wheel to be replaced

NOTES

There is a plate on the jack with instructions for installing it under the vehicle.

When using the jack on soft ground, place a block or plank under the jack base.

WARNINGS

Only jack the vehicle up to the height necessary to remove and install the wheel.

To prevent the jack from sinking and pressing into the ground, place a board under it (20x 20 x 2cm). Do not use bricks for this purpose: they break easily, and the car can fall off the jack, seriously injuring you.

Never rest the jack against bumpers or any other part of the vehicle. Do not turn on the ignition and start the engine while the vehicle is on the jack.

It is forbidden to stay in a vehicle that is standing on a jack.

14. On the opposite side, the car must be secured by placing wheel chocks under the front and rear wheels so that the raised car cannot move forward or backward.

16. Loosen and remove the wheel nuts completely.

18. Install the spare wheel to replace the removed one.

Before installing the spare wheel, thoroughly clean the adjacent surfaces of the wheel rim and hub of the wheel rim and hub with a cleaning cloth or brush. Be careful, these parts may have reached a high temperature while driving. When screwing on the nuts, make sure that their tapered parts are aligned with the tapered surfaces of the holes in the wheel disk, otherwise the nuts will loosen during movement, as a result of which the wheel may come off.

Do not lubricate the threads of the fastening nuts - this can lead to self-loosening of the nuts while driving.

20. Lower the vehicle and finally tighten the wheel nuts. Tighten the wheel nuts one by one. To avoid damaging the wheel rim, do not try to "pull" the wheel nuts by pressing the key handle with your foot.

21. After replacing a wheel, secure the damaged wheel in the spare wheel well and put the jack and tools back in place.

The small spare wheel can only be used to get to the nearest tire shop or garage at a maximum speed of 80 km / h. Make sure your speed is slow enough to drive safely on the given road conditions. Any road hazard, such as potholes and rock fragments, can seriously damage the undersized spare wheel. Installation of two or more small wheels at the same time is strictly prohibited. Avoid driving over obstacles. The compact spare wheel has a smaller diameter than a conventional wheel.

Maximum vehicle acceleration, heavy braking and sharp bends should be avoided.

It is forbidden to use small-sized spare wheels of other types than those regulated specifically for this car model.

Do not place wheel chains on a small spare wheel. Due to its smaller size, it is difficult to fit the wheel chain correctly. This could damage the vehicle and lead to the loss of the chain.

It is forbidden to install a small-sized spare wheel on the front axle of a front-wheel drive vehicle when driving on a snowy or icy road. Do not tow a trailer while a small spare wheel is installed.

USEFUL TIPS

The vehicle has tubeless tires. If you do not have enough tire mounting skills, we advise you not to try to do this work yourself. One sidewall damage - and you have to buy a new tire or insert a tube.

In a hopeless situation, you can use a special first aid kit to repair tubeless tires without dismantlingor tire sealant. They must be used in accordance with the attached instructions.

Replacing the antifreeze on the Nissan Tiida must be timely - this is extremely important for the normal functioning of the power unit on this machine. Some manufacturers claim to change the fluid (it takes one year to prevent rust).
The engine temperature, which is optimal (for an internal combustion engine), should be between 80-90 degrees Celsius. To maintain this mode, you need to constantly remove heat from heated parts.

Causes of coolant leaks

Antifreeze in the tank decreases when the engine is running, even when the system is working properly. Antifreeze periodically evaporates, and in winter, when cooling occurs, part of the liquid is significantly reduced in volume. We begin to sound the alarm when the antifreeze goes away much faster than it was before, that is, with proper engine operation.

The following problems lead to a coolant leak:

  • damage to the expansion tank or its cap;
  • damage to tubes and hoses;
  • deformation of the radiator.

When such situations arise, the antifreeze evaporates very quickly. In this case, it is required to replace the damaged part with a new one. However, if replacing antifreeze on a Nissan Tiida is quite simple, then parts of the cooling system are more difficult to change.

How to replace antifreeze on Nissan Tiida?

Many car owners have previously used ordinary water instead of antifreeze - these actions are considered erroneous, because water boils at a lower temperature than antifreeze, as a result, scale formed on the inner walls of the system elements. As a result, heat exchange deteriorated and engine parts also quickly wore out. Especially for these purposes, they created a coolant called antifreeze.

Replacing antifreeze on the Nissan Tiida, Nissan Note and Nissan Latio models is carried out according to an identical algorithm, since the cooling systems and the location of components in the engine compartment are the same. Also, on these cars, the frequency of replacing the coolant is the same, because they use a refrigerant of the G12 + class.

The first replacement of antifreeze in Nissan Tiida cars should be carried out after 90 thousand mileage or after 60 months. It is also recommended to check the refrigerant every 15 thousand kilometers or 6 months. This procedure is necessary to control the quality of the coolant in order to make an early replacement if necessary. The coolant loses its properties over time, if you postpone the replacement procedure, it will negatively affect the metal of the engine and its operation in general. After the first replacement of antifreeze, subsequent times it is recommended to change it after every 30 thousand kilometers or 2 years.

The coolant is changed in several stages:

  • Draining the old refrigerant;
  • Flushing the cooling system;
  • Pouring new antifreeze.

Stage one

The old antifreeze is drained in the next sequences:

  • Unscrew the plug at the bottom of the radiator;
  • Remove the radiator cap;
  • We drain the coolant.

Stage two

If there are signs of corrosion or scale, it is imperative to flush the cooling system, otherwise the remnants of dirt, rust and old fluid will lead to the fact that the new antifreeze very quickly loses its properties.

The flushing procedure is carried out as follows:

  • We pour water into the radiator until we find a leak from the plug. After that we close the plug;
  • We twist the lid in the radiator (before that we pour water here);
  • We start the power unit, heat it to the optimum temperature;
  • Smoothly press the gas pedal (several times);
  • We stop the operation of the power unit and wait for the water in the system to cool down;
  • We drain the liquid.

Any suitable liquid that is diluted with distilled water is suitable for rinsing. The flushing solution can only be used for the first cleaning; subsequent cycles can be filled with distilled water. The procedure is repeated until the drained water is clean, usually 2-3 times.

Stage three

After cleaning the cooling system, you need to check the serviceability of all hoses and nozzles, and if there is no damage, then you can start pouring new antifreeze.

New antifreeze is filled in as follows:

  • We install a tank with a coolant and tighten the plugs on all drain necks;
  • Lubricate all plugs with sealant;
  • We unscrew the bypass valve;
  • Slowly pour antifreeze into the expansion tank to the permissible value. Do not exceed the filling rate (more than two liters per minute) to allow air to escape from the system;
  • We start the power unit, heat it up to the optimal operating temperature, then remove the cap from the radiator;
  • We leave the engine to run at up to 3000 rpm, for 10 seconds, then return to the standard one and tighten the cap in the radiator;
  • We stop the engine and cool it down to 50 degrees Celsius. We cool with a fan;
  • We fill the container to the maximum mark and check the system for leaks that occurred during the operation of the power unit;
  • The engine needs to be warmed up and the sounds of circulating fluid should be checked by increasing the speed;
  • Now you need to wipe off excess antifreeze from the engine and close the hood.

When working with antifreeze, it is recommended to use rubber gloves and do not allow it to come into contact with open skin, as the liquid is poisonous and causes chemical burns. If refrigerant comes into contact with hands or other areas of the body, immediately rinse the affected area with plenty of running water and consult a doctor.

The optimum temperature for an internal combustion engine is between 80-90 degrees Celsius. To maintain this mode, it is necessary to constantly remove heat from heated parts. All modern cars are equipped with a liquid cooling system, which includes:

  • main radiator,
  • radiator for oil cooling,
  • forced cooling fan,
  • pump for pumping liquid,
  • thermostat,
  • expansion tank,
  • connecting pipes,
  • temperature sensor.

Also in the cylinder block and its head there are special holes through which the coolant circulates.

There are two circles of antifreeze circulation: small and large. The first is designed to quickly heat up the engine and coolant. The second is necessary to cool the antifreeze after it has gone through a full heat exchange cycle.

What is coolant (antifreeze) for

In the past, many car owners used regular water instead of antifreeze. Such actions were erroneous, since the water has a low boiling point, as a result of which scale forms on the inner walls of the cooling system elements. This leads to a deterioration in heat transfer and, as a result, rapid wear of engine parts. To avoid such a development of events, it is necessary to use a special coolant.

Nissan antifreeze replacement timing

Many car owners neglect the timely procedure for replacing antifreeze, but in vain, because from this, as you have seen earlier, the performance of the car engine depends. The first replacement of antifreeze in Nissan cars should be carried out after 90 thousand mileage, and each subsequent replacement - every 60 thousand. If you postpone this procedure for the future, you may be faced with the fact that the coolant will begin to change its properties and negatively affect the metal (usually aluminum) from which the cylinder head and the block itself are made.

Instructions for replacing antifreeze in Nissan vehicles

For this car brand, it is recommended to use original Nissan antifreeze (based on ethylene glycol), which is specified in the documentation for the vehicle. If it is not possible to use the original coolant, select an analogue based on the specifications of the fluid.

In no case do not start the replacement with a hot engine, otherwise you can get serious burns.
Also, use gloves.

The coolant replacement process is as follows:

  1. Unscrewing the tap on the radiator, which is accompanied by the leakage of antifreeze.
  2. Removing the radiator cap. After that, you will find how the liquid begins to pour out more intensively.
  3. Removing the expansion tank cover.
  4. Unscrewing the plug on the cylinder block.
  5. Tightening the plug on the cylinder block.
  6. Tightening the tap on the radiator.
  7. Filling the cooling system with antifreeze.
  8. Fill the expansion tank with antifreeze to the appropriate mark.
  9. Tightening the radiator cap and expansion tank.
  10. Engine starting. During its operation, we observe the readings of the temperature sensor in the cooling system.
  11. We turn off the engine and look at the liquid level indicator. The level should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
  • In order to empty the expansion tank, you need to remove it. This is done easily: we take a suitable wrench and unscrew the bolt that holds the tank. After removing the liquid, disconnect the hose and thoroughly rinse the tank and then dry.
  • As a rule, after draining the antifreeze, some liquid remains in the system. Blow into the filler hole to expel all the coolant.
  • After replacing the antifreeze, it is recommended to drive a couple of tens of kilometers by car, and then add the required amount of fluid.
  • Before pouring new antifreeze, you can flush the system with plain water, or use special compounds.
  • Under normal conditions, the boiling point of antifreeze is 108 degrees Celsius, in a sealed cooling system 130 degrees Celsius. Therefore, in the event of a leakage (for example, a crack has formed in the expansion tank or hose), the engine will boil. To avoid this, change the expansion tank with a hose in a timely manner.

If you doubt that you will carry out the antifreeze replacement procedure yourself, then contact a specialized Nissan car service, where experienced and professional mechanics will solve this problem for you.
