The marking of modern tires usually contains information about the seasonality of use, namely:

  1. The M + S or M&S designations apply to both winter and all-season and summer off-road tires. This marking permits off-road driving, muddy, wet snow, etc. If there is an image of a snowflake next to the abbreviation, then the rubber belongs to the "winter" category.
  2. For all-season tires, the marking options "All SEASON", "ROAD + WINTER", "ANY Weather", etc. can be used.
  3. The words "WATER", "RAID", "AQUA", "Aquacontact" denote the so-called "rain tires", which provide improved contact of the treads with wet asphalt.
  4. Winter tires are identified by the word "Winter" or by the snowflake logo.

When installed on a car new rubber or when changing tires seasonally, always pay attention to the markings and the direction of the tread of the wheels.

When installing a tire having a symmetrically directed pattern, the arrow applied to the sidewall of the tire is positioned in accordance with the direction of rotation of the wheel when the vehicle is moving forward.

Tires with an asymmetrical pattern must be installed so that the “Outside” mark on the side surface is on the outside of the wheel.

Important! Special attention is required when fitting asymmetrical tires marked "Right" and "Left". To do this, you will need two pairs of tires with appropriate inscriptions, which are installed on different sides of the car.

Recently, motorists have increasingly asked about the "correctness" of mounting "left" and "right" tires. The fact is that with the correct mounting of tires on a car, it may seem that the tires are installed on the contrary, asymmetrically. Don't be scared - that's okay. It should be so.

Asymmetric non-directional tires have no direction of rotation, i.e. can be mounted on any car wheel.

The most important thing…

The most important thing is that on all tires (after their installation) you have “ watched"Inscriptions" Outside«.

The designation options may be different:

side can be indicated by the following inscriptions:

1. Internal side:

Side facing inwards

Mount this side inside

Cote Intérieur etc.

2. External side, in turn, will be designated as follows:

Side facing outwards

Mount this side outside

Cote Extérieur, etc.

Example of marking on the outside of a non-directional asymmetric bus:

Why, actually ...

The task that the designers of such tires set themselves was for two wheels on the axle to "work" as ONE WHOLE.

Asymmetric non-directional tires have been developed to optimize highly conflicting tire requirements. They must adjoin the entire plane to a dry road and, at the same time, effectively drain water from the contact zone.

The outer part is specially stiffened to optimize the performance of the tire in high-speed cornering when good contact helps minimize tread wear.

The inner side of the tire provides stability of effort at start and in braking, as well as efficient removal of water from under the wheel.

Rotation

During operation, it is also recommended to rearrange the asymmetrical tires from the front to rear axle (and vice versa) every 5000-7000 km. This rearrangement is carried out in order to completely avoid the risk of uneven tread wear. It should be remembered that:
- If the tire has a predetermined direction of rotation (indicated by arrows on the sidewall and the word "Rotation"), then the tires should be swapped from the front to the rear axle on the same side of the vehicle (the front right tire is installed at the rear right, the front left tire - at the rear left) ... Remarkable levels of return on withdrawal gambling winnings allow visitors to gambling sites to quickly fill up their deposit accounts. When you need to pick up the prize money, with the withdrawal of money to the card, the guest of such an Internet room just needs to fill out the appropriate application for the transfer of funds, taking into account the boundary limits on the transfer of amounts in force in the casino.
- If the direction of travel of the tire is not specified, then they can be rearranged crosswise, i.e. put the front right tire at the rear left, the front left tire at the rear right, and so on.

Car owners should not flatter themselves, hoping to acquire a universal winter tires suitable for driving on ice, snow and muddy roads. You need to find the right tires. providing reliable grip on the track in certain conditions.

To understand which tread pattern is best for winter tires, you can familiarize yourself with the characteristics of directional and non-directional, asymmetric and symmetrical wheels.

Which tread pattern is best for winter tires

Budgetary symmetrical rubber noisy when driving in urban conditions, and asymmetric winter tires are better, as they are quieter in operation, although they are more expensive. If it is necessary to divert water from the contact spot with the carriageway, then directional wheels are selected, marked with an arrow informing in which direction the rotation is carried out. Most often, the following types of tires are bought for winter:

  • directional symmetry;
  • undirected asymmetry;
  • undirected symmetry.

Asymmetrical non-directional winter tires, which is not popular with car owners.

Which winter tires are better: symmetrical or asymmetrical

It is impossible to say for sure which drawing is best for winter tires, since it all depends on the condition of the roadway. When on the road there are deep snowdrifts or heavily compacted snow, directional asymmetric tires should be preferred, which stand out with a projector with an aggressive design.

If you intend to drive on roads with shallow, fairly melted snow, constantly melting, you should choose an omnidirectional projector. When the water is replaced by deep snowdrifts on the road, asymmetric non-directional tires are installed, characterized by lateral hooks that shove off snow while simultaneously diverting water through drainage channels.

Which winter tires are better: directional or non-directional

Choosing which tread pattern of winter tires is better, you need to understand where it will be used more often vehicle... If the car will drive on city roads cleared of snow with reagents, it is better to buy tires with an asymmetric low-noise projector. However, having left the city on unpaved roads, it is almost impossible to get out of the snowdrifts.

The best option for the Russian winter can be considered a symmetrical directional pattern, which helps to form directional stability and shovel snow. True, you have to put up with the high noise level, however, when cross-country ability is more important, then this is not a problem.

Not so long ago I wrote mine (read interesting). But many of my viewers on the YOUTUBE channel (you can subscribe to the link on the right), saw on my tires (which are shod with my KIA OPTIMA) - ALSO THE WRONG DRAWING. On the right, the Christmas tree looks not forward, but back! Well, and away we go - "yes, you have the wrong tires dressed", "what kind of blogger you are after that", "yes, I am an installer at the service station and I confirm that they are not dressed correctly", etc. For all "smart people" who have not seen normal winter tires and do not know what "INSIDE" and "OUTSIDE" are, this article is simply a must-read (well, the video at the end as well) ...

The worst thing in this thread is not the "shkolota" who writes any nonsense in the comments, but the tire workers (see the video below). For everyone I want to tell you about asymmetric winter tires.

Winter tires (main types of pattern)

At the moment, there are only three types of patterns on tires (both in summer and winter) - these are the so-called classic (they are also called non-directional), directional and asymmetric:

  • - there is nothing special to write, if you describe it in a nutshell, there are even lamellas, the right side copies the left. The drawing can be directed against each other.

  • Directed - here the right side and the left side are mirror copies. Usually they have a forward direction (something like the Latin letter V, we call this type "herringbone"). Also on the sides there is an inscription "ROTATION", with an arrow of wheel rotation. IMPORTANT! The tire must be put on - in the direction of the forward rotation arrow, if the arrow (and directional tread) are facing backward, this is not correct!

  • before, they were mainly used only in summer (now more and more manufacturers are switching to winter). Here the right and left sides are not alike at all. Usually interior the tread is much narrower than the outer. NEED TO KNOW! Often the drawing is not important here, it can even be directed backward (right, left, forward) here it is important to combine the two inscriptions "INSIDE" and "OUTSIDE" (more about this below).

Now many manufacturers use directional and asymmetrical tread patterns for winter options. It is they who most effectively remove moisture, snow and perfectly hold the car in winter turns, on ice.

It is worth noting that the installation rules for the tire service, for directional and asymmetrical views DIFFERENT (and do not apply to each other) !!!

In simple words, it is wrong to look for the direction of the "herringbone" on asymmetric tires

OUTSIDE - what is it?

So we come to the most interesting part. If with a directional and classic tire, during installation, everything is clear. Combine the herringbone and the ROTATION arrow and set. THAT with asymmetric options there is a lot of confusion.

Often such questions are - "put the tires at the service station incorrectly, the right side looks forward, and the left back"! Or - "I was sold 4 left or 4 right wheels." In general, "people are in danger", "what to do?"

Let's figure it out, remember two rules when installing asymmetric tires:

  • Tread pattern, line pattern - ABSOLUTELY not important in the installation! Again - even though he looks forward, back, right, left - does not matter.
  • The tire must be installed, at two marks - - inner side, - outer side.

BUT WHY IS THIS:

- see the asymmetric tire, made a little differently than the other two types. Each zone is responsible for its own part of the work. It usually has a slightly weaker underside, has a thinner tread layer and is designed to work with high speeds... When cornering, the main load does not go to it, since it is inside - that is why INSIDE (translated as the inner side). If you put it outside, then at a sharp turn, it just can not withstand the load and burst! It is very dangerous

- as it becomes clear (external translation). It has a much larger and reinforced tread, and it perfectly holds the car in corners, it carries the main load. And it is with this side that you usually "grind" to the curbs. This side should be outside.

It should be noted that asymmetric wheels are the most technologically advanced of all three types. Back side medals, maybe a little more cost, well, and an illiterate installation at mediocre service stations! Remember the main thing - RIGHT TO COMBINE, otherwise it is simply dangerous.
