The history of the ZID mopeds: production, concept and racing models. The history of ZID mopeds: serial, concept and racing models Technical characteristics for the ZID 50 moped

For a long time machine guns were produced at the Degtyarev plant, and from the first peaceful year of 1946 there was a conversion to the production of K-125 motorcycles. By 1950, powerful motorcycles of the Kovrovets brand were produced. Progress was made in the nineties, when the small-capacity motorcycle was released.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 50 cubic meters

ZID 50 "Pilot"

It was released in 1995. It was equipped with a fairly strong two-stroke fifty-cube engine. The small moped turned out to be very powerful, and could reach a speed of 50 kilometers per hour, while only 2 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers were consumed.

The three-speed gearbox was integrated with the engine. Four years later, a raised front wing model was released. And later, the plant pleased with a powerful motorcycle ZiD-50-01 equipped with a Lifan engine, in this model a semi-automatic clutch was used.

On the basis of the ZID 50 Pilot model, the ZDK-2.404 cargo truck was later produced. She was three-wheeled and weighed only 112 kilograms. All specifications were the same as the previous model. was 3 liters per hundred kilometers. The already known Lifan engine was installed on it. The model was complemented by a rear differential.

Since 2000, the plant has been producing ZID 50-01 "Active" . There were no significant differences from previous models. A rather powerful Chinese-made Lifan engine was used. The model was distinguished by a beautiful and stylish plastic body kit, similar to the skin of cruisers.

ZID - 36

It was a tiny motor scooter, which was also foldable. This made it possible to transport it in the trunk of a car and store it on the balcony of a high-rise building. The model was equipped with a powerful engine and developed a speed of up to 35 kilometers per hour. ZID-36 existed from 1997 to 2007, turned out to be economically unprofitable and was discontinued.

ZID 50 "Arkan"

The first model of a domestic scooter, released in 2000. The advantages of the model include:

  • chassis from the moped ZID - 50 "Pilot";
  • powerful rechargeable battery;
  • fuel level indicators, small amount of oil;
  • separate lubrication system

This model differed from foreign ones by the presence of a three-speed gearbox. It was mechanical, not variator. However, it was precisely because of this detail that the scooter was not in demand, although it was sold very inexpensively.

Later, models of scooters with an engine capacity of 50 liters were released. These included "Nika", ZID-50 "Arkan" with a variator, ZID KM.

ZID 50-05 or ZID Lifan 50

Later, the Degtyarov Plant produced the ZID 50-05 model . She was a licensed copy of the famous scooter lifan 50... The Russian model was similar to its Chinese counterpart. Its main advantages include:

  • a powerful 4-stroke Lifan 1P39FMA engine;
  • air cooling of the engine;
  • weight not exceeding 82 kilograms;
  • sturdy plastic sheathing that is not subject to mechanical stress and corrosion;
  • large bright headlight;
  • the presence of a seat for the passenger;
  • the presence of spacious trunks for storing things and equipment, located under the driver's seat and dashboard;
  • the presence of a glove compartment for documents and small things, locked with a key.

To the features of ZID 50-05, like the Chinese lifan 50 scooter , it is customary to attribute:

  • soft saddle that allows you not to get tired of a long journey;
  • alloy wheels for wheels;
  • easy to read dashboard;
  • comfortable seat for the passenger;
  • the presence of handles that the passenger can hold on.

ZID 50-05 and scooter lifan 50 were famous for their:

  • small size;
  • ease of management;
  • increased maneuverability;
  • high level of security.

Model scooter lifan 50 and its Russian counterpart is suitable for beginner motorcyclists. Their driving does not require special knowledge, skills or professional training.

The lifan 50 scooter is a high quality and fashionable scooter model that has reached a high level of popularity in the world. ZID 50-05 was also in demand as it was of high quality and rather cheap.

ZiD 50 Pilot has long been the dream of future bikerswho dreamed of a two-wheeled steel horse. It is not a motorcycle, and it was not required to drive it before the introduction of category "M". Now the bike is out of production, but buying a used one is not difficult.

Design

The moped looks like a small enduro, which it is. Long travel suspensions, a lifted tail, a muffler brought up, a minimum of plastic - when looking at the photo, it immediately becomes clear that it was created for rough terrain. Of course, the mokik ZiD 50 Pilot cannot be called a full-fledged two-wheeled SUV, but it copes perfectly with country roads and dirt roads.

Specifications ZiD Pilot 50

ZiD Pilot is inferior to all modern analogues, but when it first went on sale, it surpassed the usual "Karpaty" and "Riga" by a head. But its technical characteristics were good for their time, which was the reason for the high popularity of the model.

Engine

Usual 2-stroke air cooled motor with 2 valves and one spark plugcapable of accelerating the ZiD Pilot moped to 60 kilometers per hour... The manufacturer declared the maximum speed in 50 km / h, but this was done so that according to the documents the bike would meet the requirements for mopeds. Engine power - 2.7 horsepower, torque - about 2 Nm.

Transmission

Archaic 3-speed transmission works very well. Unlike Chinese pit bikes, the gear changes are like on a motorcycle - the first down, the rest up. The third can be safely turned on already at 30 km / h.

Chassis and brakes

It's hard to think of something simpler. ZiD Pilot 50 is steel frame, mechanical drum brakes on both wheels and standard suspension, with a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Suspensions do not differ in high energy consumption, but since the moped is designed for one person, there are enough of them.

Electronics

Electronic filling in Pilot hardly ever... It even lacks a battery! So the light optics is powered directly from generator... There is no electric starter either - if you please be content with a kickstarter. Everything is simple, even primitive, and therefore very reliable.

Weight and dimensions

Dry weight moped is only 87 kg, and equipped - about 100 Kg... Any motorcyclist, even an inexperienced one, can cope with the ZiD 50 Pilot. And thanks to its modest dimensions, the mokik easily sneaks between cars in traffic jams if its owner is brought into the city. But driving on busy roads is best avoided, as the bike clearly lacks power for them.

Controllability

Due to its modest weight and compact dimensions, the ZiD 50 01 moped is driven not only easily, but very easily. It is only necessary to adapt to the ease with which it bends, and the steering wheel, which is not too comfortable for long-armed drivers.

Fuel consumption

The 2t motor, by definition, is not economical, and the mokik from the factory. Degtyareva, without hesitation, consumes up to 2.5 liters gasoline per 100 km... The ZiD Lifan version with a 4t engine has a lower fuel consumption, in addition, the Chinese have replaced the archaic K 39 carburetor with their own, more modern one.

Motorcycle price

You can buy this model for a couple of tens of thousands of rubles, there are enough offers on the secondary market. Old ZiD 50 sells at all ten thousand, but the state of the cheapest copies is often depressing.

Repair and tuning

Even before the plant them. Degtyareva was bought by the Chinese, there was enough tuning for this mokik, which enterprising citizens ordered in the same China. And everything you need for repairs can be found in Russia, and it is inexpensive.

Repairs

The moped has several weak points. First, it often starts leaking front fork... The problem is eliminated by replacing the oil seals and anthers, but when driving over rough terrain, sooner or later it will appear again. Second, dear carburetor K39 is not of high quality, and problems often arise with it. Many owners change it to a Chinese counterpart.

Spare parts

Despite the fact that the ZiD 50 moped was discontinued for a long time, there are practically no problems with finding spare parts. Almost everything you need is easily found in motorcycle stores and markets. The price tag for the details will make any motorcyclist cry with envy - they are sold practically by weight.

Tuning

Rural bikers have gotten used to hanging the mokik with various optional improvements like new handlebars or windscreens, but most importantly - it has the ability to change the piston by increasing the volume. On Aliexpress, and in Russia as well, you can find 70 cc CPGs that fit perfectly on the native engine. As a result, the moped's agility is noticeably increased.

Motorcycle modifications

The very first version was called ZiD 50 01, and it is she who is the classic "Pilot". On its basis, a cargo modification 50 02, and "Active" is exactly the same mokik, but slightly modified in appearance. And later the bike was replaced by the ZiD Lifan, equipped with a Chinese 4-stroke engine and a new transmission.

Pros and cons

Considering them, one must not forget that we are talking about a simple entry-level bike, produced a decade and a half ago, and designed according to the technologies of the last century. This model was pretty good for its time.

Benefits

  • Light weight... Everyone can cope with the mokik.
  • Simple construction... Disassemble, repair, assemble the ZiD moped back - no problem, even if this is your first bike.
  • Reliable engine... The transmission also does not differ in fragility.
  • Decent pendants... They handle unpaved roads with confidence.

disadvantages

  • Lack of passenger footpegs... The bike is designed strictly for one person.
  • Weak brakes.
  • Gas tank volume ZiD 50 - only 6 liters.

History of the V.A. Degtyareva (ZID) in the city of Kovrov began in the years of the First World War: on August 27, 1916, the construction of the first buildings of the Kovrov machine-gun plant began. In 1946, the first K-125 motorcycles began to be produced in Kovrov, in the 50s - “Kovrovets” and “Voskhod”. Well, the first small-capacity motorcycle of the plant appeared only in the 90s.

ZID 50 Pilot (1995-present)

ZID 50 Pilot became the first moped of the plant. It first appeared in 1995 and was powered by a 3.5 hp 50 cc 2-stroke engine. It developed 50 km / h and consumed 2.2 l / 100 km at a speed of 30 km / h. A small moped weighing 76 kg had a three-speed gearbox combined into one unit with the engine. In 1999, a batch of mopeds with a raised front wing was produced. In 2004, an improved version of the ZiD-50-01 appeared with a 4-stroke Chinese Lifan engine with a capacity of 2.72 hp. Interestingly, a semi-automatic clutch was used here, so the clutch handle disappeared.

ZID 50 Freight (ZDK-2.404) (1995-present)

In addition to the two-wheeled moped ZID 50 Pilot, the three-wheeled cargo model ZDK-2.404 was also produced. It got the same 50cc 3.5-horsepower two-stroke single-cylinder engine, but its top speed was only 40 km / h. Fuel consumption - 3 l / 100 km at a speed of 30 km / h. Weight - 112 kg. In 2004, the ZID 50-02 version appeared with a 4-stroke Chinese Lifan engine with a capacity of 2.72 hp. Moreover, such a moped could be supplemented with a rear differential.

ZID 50-01 Active (since 2000)

In 2000, another version of the ZID 50 model appeared, which was named "Active". It was equipped with the same 2-stroke ZDK-50 engine, and its main difference was in the original plastic body kit in the style of cruisers. In 2004, simultaneously with the ZID 50 Pilot, the Active received the Chinese 4-stroke Lifan engine.

ZID 50-05

Most recently, the Degtyarev plant began producing a licensed copy of the Chinese Lifan moped under the ZID 50-05 brand. Lightweight and extremely cheap moped is equipped with a 4-stroke LIFAN, 1P39FMA carburetor engine with air cooling. The same is installed on all other models of the "50" family. The two-seater scooter weighs only 82 kg.

ZiD-36 "Ptakha" (1997-2001)

In 1997 the plant presented its new development - a tiny folding mokik ZID 36 Ptakha. Its folding steering wheel and folding seat made it possible to transport it in a regular passenger car and store it on the balcony. In 2001, the plant began serial production of Ptahi. It was equipped with a ZDK-36 engine with a working volume of only 36 cm3 and a power of 1.5 hp. The maximum speed is 35 km / h, the fuel consumption is 2.8 l / 100 km. Transmission - two-stage with a foot switch. The bird weighed only 35 kg. Overall dimensions - 1400x650x1100 (950) mm. Despite the interesting design, Ptakha turned out to be economically unprofitable, and production was curtailed in 2007.

ZID 50 "Arkan" (ZDK-2.501) (2000-2003)

In 2000, the Kovrovsky plant produced its first scooter ZID 50 "Arkan". It immediately became a sensation at all Russian and even international exhibitions. "Arkan" was made on the already proven chassis of the ZiD 50 Pilot moped, which has already become a bestseller on the Russian market. The scooter absorbed all the most innovative that was available at that time at the factory: a battery, an electric starter, a neutral indicator, fuel level indicator and an oil insufficient indicator. An important detail is the separate lubrication system, which simplifies refueling. There was one "but" that distinguished "Arkan" from foreign analogues: the gearbox here is also from the Pilot, that is. mechanical three-stage, and not a variator, as on all foreign models. In the spring of 2001, the plant produced the first experimental batch of 50 mini-rollers. But the moped went ... In total, up to 2003, no more than a thousand of these cars were produced. "Arkan" and Vyatsko-Polyansky "Strizh", although they were cheaper than new foreign rollers, were not in demand. And the main reason was precisely the lack of a variator in the design of scooters.

Conceptual models

ZID Alpha-50

In the early 90s, plant engineers began to think about replacing the Pilot. This is how the promising Alpha-50 model with a very original design appeared. The engine on the Alpha-50 remained the same, a 50 cc 3.5 hp, which allowed the moped to accelerate to 50 km / h. Consumption remained at the same level - 2.2 l / 100 km at a speed of 30 km / h. Weight - 76 kg. But such a moped did not go into series, and the plant still produces outdated Pilots.

ZID TURBONE-50 (1993-1998)

From 1993 to 1998 at the Plant. Dyagterev, along with the Pilot's successor - Alpha-50, a moped equipped with a variator was being developed. Mokik received the name TURBONE-50, was distinguished by an interesting innovative design and could become very popular. But, only 11 were produced. One of the surviving mochas is in the private collection of Nikolai Tubaev in Kovrov.

ZID 50 Arkan Prototype (1999)

In 1999, a prototype of the Arkan scooter was made with an original plastic body kit. The whole technical novelty was similar to the ZID 50 Pilot mokik.

Rusak (1999)

The custom-mokik "Rusak" was a prototype of a moped in the style of American cruisers. The entire technical basis was borrowed from the serial ZID-50 Pilot.

Nika (2000)

In 2000, a prototype of Nick's moped was released, which is the ZID-50 Pilot in the enduro style. Mokik received an appropriate body kit and reinforced suspension.

ZID 80 Arkan (2000)

The layout of the promising mokik was created by designer Alexey Bobylev. He received a five-speed gearbox, front wheel disc brake and a separate lubrication system. Was in the factory museum, after the disbandment of which it was sold into private hands. At the moment it is in the collection of Vladimir Myachin.

ZID 80 Arkan Custom (2000)

Another promising mock created by designer Alexey Bobylev. Arkan differed from the ZID 80 with a body kit in the style of American cruisers.

ZID 50 Arkan with variator (2001)

As mentioned above, the main reason for the failure of sales of the ZID 50 Arkan scooter was the lack of an automatic transmission in the design. But in 2001, the plant manufactured a prototype of the Arkan with a variator, which, unfortunately, never went into production.

ZID 80 (2001)

The layout of a promising enduro mokik was created by designer A. Kabaev.

ZID KM (2002)

In 2002, a prototype of the ZID KM cross-country motorcycle with the ZDK-50 engine was created.

ATV "Double" (2006)

When things in ZiD's motorcycle production were so bad that they were ready to build whatever they wanted to get cash, comrades from St. Petersburg turned to SKB. And they asked him to realize his long-standing idea - to build a double moped so that you can ride with a passenger, and at the same time not worry about maintaining balance (ideal for drunk drivers - you don't need "rights" for fifty dollars). They took the "Pilot" as a basis, using a number of nodes from their ATV "Tarpan".

The front suspension is especially original - independent, on trailing arms. Nobody else in the world had such a thing, as well as a way of "fixing" a passenger - holding on to the steering wheel of a motorcycle type. The ATV was powered by a Chinese 2.72 hp Lifan engine, the same one used on the Pilots. The customer took the device, called without any special imagination "Double", having paid generously, and took it to St. Petersburg. The further fate of the "Double", unfortunately, is not traced ...

Sports models

ZiD-50-SMB (1998-1999)

The sports mokik ZID-50-SMB for a motorball was a ZID-50 Pilot with a full motor-ball mount and gear shifting on the steering wheel. It was intended for athletes between the ages of 11 and 16. A small party went to the clubs of the country, and European clubs showed interest, but things did not go further. Overall dimensions - 1700x980x750 mm. The wheelbase is 1150 mm. Weight - 76 kg. Carburetor two-stroke engine ZDK-50-01 with a working volume of 49.9 cm3 and a power of 4 hp. The gearbox is 3-speed.

ZiD-50XL-Cross (1999)

The prototype of the children's crossover ZID-50XL-Cross was created in 1999. It had the same ZDK-50 3.5 hp engine. and a 3-speed gearbox from ZID 50 Pilot. It didn't go further than making prototypes.

ZID-50 Cross (2000)

A variant of the sports body kit for the ZDK-2.103 chassis. It was released in a small batch.

ZID Ptaha-NRMF (2003)

The prototype of the children's sports motorcycle "Ptakha" was manufactured by ZID by order of the National Russian Motorcycle Federation in 2003 in a single copy. The technical characteristics are identical to the standard ZID 36 Ptah mokik.

ZID Pilot 80 NRMF (2003)

A prototype of a sports children's motorcycle "Pilot-80-NRMF" was manufactured at ZiD by order of the National Russian Motorcycle Federation in 2003 in a single copy.

ZID GAS-GAS (2003)

"ZiD-Gas-Gas" was a combination of the Spanish chassis GAS-GAS EC 50 Rookie and the Kovrov ZDK-50 engine. Mokik was ordered by the Russian dealer Gas-Gas. According to its characteristics, the "Pilot" engine was similar to its own, but still they differed - three gears instead of six, air-cooled instead of water-cooled and no electric starter. In total, 2 copies were made, one of which is

Owner reviews ZiD 50-05

ZiD 50-05, 2013

Well, let's start - the ZiD 50-05 is exactly the same as the Delta and Orion 100. Well, it's not suitable for long distances, it is better to put a weak engine on one hundred and ten cubes. The moped is light, very comfortable, not very beautiful, the tank is very small, and I personally don't like the trunk. There are two seats on it, but only if two teenagers sit there, they will fit, and if two normal men, then no, and it will be difficult for him to lead them. The front fork is bad, the first thousand kilometers was just wooden, the rear shock absorbers are bad, I have already changed them, since it is not possible to ride on those. Qualitatively, you need to run in, if you go badly, then ZiD 50-05 can be killed for a year. Change everything as written in the instructions. There is little gasoline, it is very convenient. Goes slowly. And there are very bad bolts on it, when I bought it, half of the bolts still had to be tightened. My opinion is a moped for a neat quiet ride. And it's up to you whether to take it or not.

Advantages : eats little gasoline. Not expensive.

disadvantages : bad materials. Not handsome.

Alexey, Cherepovets

ZiD 50-05, 2012

The moped is not bad, the engine volume is only 48 cubic meters. see and does not drive ZiD 50-05 very fast (about 60 km / h), but no problems with traffic police. Yes, and I personally bought a moped in 2010, and I will tell you that the engine of this unit is reliable (there have been no breakdowns as such until now). As for the frame of this unit, it does not pull higher than 4 points, since the metal is rather weak and therefore it is advisable not to carry gravity. And in general, the unit is good (no worse than the "alpha" and other "Chinese").

Advantages : in comparison with the "alpha" cross-country ability is better, and not expensive (21-22 thousand rubles).

disadvantages : frame metal is weak. Soft tires (not off-road).

Alexey, Nizhny Novgorod

ZiD 50-05, 2012

This miracle of technology is produced at the Degtyarev plant. From Lifan brand components. The ZiD 50-05 moped is quite light (up to one hundred kilograms), easy to operate, economical. Good visibility (two rear-view mirrors). The seat is designed for two riders (only not solid, but separate). Therefore, these vehicles are more and more popular with the fairer sex. A huge plus is that there is a small trunk on the ZiD 50-05 frame (in front of the driver) and you can put shopping bags on it. The 48cc four-stroke engine clearly fits into the category of mopeds, which means that a driver's license is not required. Only a helmet is required. The moped easily maintains the speed allowed in the village (60 km / h). You can use it to go outdoors, it is not afraid of bad roads. True, I do not advise traveling long distances, with such a speed of movement (too tiring).

Advantages : agile, easy to operate, economical.

disadvantages : wheels are not interchangeable (different sizes).

Alexander, Novosibirsk

ZiD 50-05, 2013

The first step after buying a ZiD 50-05 is to immediately check all connections (bolts, nuts) and tighten them. You can treat them with silicone grease or WD40, and then you have a better chance of not loosening anything. But after this method, the nuts and bolts can stick together so that they cannot be ripped off only if you use a liquid wrench. If possible, I advise you to immediately change all wiring to insulated or what is more expensive. It is also better to change all the hoses at once, the more expensive the better. Even on the ZiD 50-05, there is no protection against dry shifting, since the gears are located in a circle, you can safely, after turning off the engine, switch from 4th gear to neutral. But there is also a drawback, because on a country road I drive in low gear and immediately turn on 4th gear, more than once touched the gearshift lever and switched to 3rd or neutral - that's the second, this is not very good for a moped. As I read on the ZiD forums in the 2014 model, this problem has already been eliminated and without squeezing the clutch from 4 to neutral, you can no longer switch. What can I say - the moped is light, the motor is 48 cubic meters, the "maximum speed" according to the speedometer is 60 km / h, and according to the transmission is 80, then the cut-off is triggered. But it is not realistic to accelerate to 80 on the ZiD 50-05. the engine is very weak. A person up to 100 kg pulls calmly, on a good road you can easily accelerate to 60 kg. A person above 120 kg is already barely able to pull. A friend rode a girl on my moped, the total weight is about 120 kg. The moped was no longer confidently accelerating, but nevertheless it gained speed of 60 km. On country roads, the ZiD 50-05 is also going well, but on the sand it can demolish the backside, so I immediately turn on the 4th gear and quietly drive like a low. It is especially good to go through the mud like this and you won't get stuck. The moped just sniffs gasoline. How much it consumes, I don't know, but the tank lasted for a long time. Problems for 2 seasons - first the carburetor sneezed, a neighbor quickly blew it out without removing it, and adjusted it. Then he began to twitch when changing gears, as it turned out the clutch burned out, bought a new one for 1650 rubles.

Advantages : low fuel consumption. Spare parts are always available in the central region.

disadvantages : The Chinese engine cannot be compared with the Soviet one both in quality and in characteristics.

Plant them. V. Degtyareva, better known to us as ZiD, was founded during the First World War. It was then that the first buildings of the Kovrov machine-gun plant began to be built in Kirov. Many years later, in 1946, he began producing motorcycles. Many probably remember the legendary K-125, Kovrovets and, of course, Voskhod. And the very first small-volume motorcycle of the Kovrov plant left the line only in the nineties of the last century. It was the ZiD-50 Pilot model.

The first swallow

ZiD-50 Pilot, which appeared on domestic roads in 1995, became the first moped of this plant. And already four years later, another batch was released in Kirov with a raised wing in front. It was named "Active". And although it was, like the Pilot, two-stroke, there was a significant difference: it differed from its ancestor in the presence of an original plastic body kit in the style of cruisers. In 2004, this version was slightly improved by creating the ZiD-50-01, on board which was a four-stroke Chinese Lifan engine with a capacity of 2.72 horsepower.

It is noteworthy that in this model a semi-automatic clutch was used, as a result of which its handle disappeared. Like the ZiD-50 Pilot moped, it was also intended for tourist and business trips. Also, the vehicle was suitable for walking on a variety of surfaces.

ZiD-50 "Pilot" - technical characteristics

It is equipped with a 3.5 horsepower two-stroke 50cc engine. Small in size, it develops a maximum speed of up to 50 km / h, while spending up to 2.2 liters on average for every hundred km. This moped weighs seventy-six kilograms. It was originally equipped with a three-speed gearbox integrated with the engine into one unit.

Judging by the reviews, the ZiD-50 Pilot, which is not uncommon on our roads today, is most suitable for short trips. Those who like to feel adrenaline and the whistling wind prefer to ride it. ZiD-50 "Pilot" is suitable for all age categories. It is simply indispensable for those who want to get the basic skills for driving two-wheeled vehicles with a motor.

In addition, the ZiD-50 "Pilot" is very unpretentious to repair. It is equipped with rear-view mirrors and turn signals. Thanks to the cubic capacity of the engine, this legendary moped can be ridden without a driver's license.

disadvantages

Like any other vehicle, the ZiD-50 “Pilot” is also characterized by both its advantages and disadvantages. Its very first drawback, the owners note the weak amortization and not too strong frame, especially noticeable off-road and when jumping on bumps.

In addition, the ZiD-50 Pilot headlight for the head light is provided only for detection on the road. And yet, according to some, the shape of the seat is not entirely comfortable: after a long ride, the body becomes very numb.
