The VAZ 2105 model first appeared on the streets of cities in 1980 and immediately became extremely popular. The fact is that the design of the car repeated the features of European models of those years: front and rear block headlights, aluminum bumpers, a modern dashboard.

All this required the designers to rework the usual electrical circuit of the car.

The original scheme published in the article will make it easier for car owners and workshop technicians to find faults in the electrical system of a Zhiguli car.

The wiring diagram of the VAZ 2105, together with a test tester, will allow:

  1. determine the causes of circuit failure;
  2. identify which sensor or relay has ceased to perform its functions;
  3. establish a breakdown in the ignition system;
  4. identify the circuit whose fuse has blown;

The VAZ 2101 platform was taken as a basis for the manufacture. In essence, it was the same rear-wheel drive five-seater sedan car. The design of the VAZ 2105 practically copied the models of cars produced in Europe in the early 80s, and it cost an order of magnitude lower, which predetermined its popularity in Western countries.

Abroad, the car had the name Lada Riva and Lada Nova (depending on the country of sale). Under these names, he was shown in video advertising.

The car plant produced several modifications of the VAZ 2105:

  1. With the VAZ-2105 index, the car was equipped with a 4-st. gearbox and carburetor engine volume of 1290 cubic meters. cm (63 HP);
  2. VAZ-21050 was equipped with a 5-st. Checkpoint;
  3. The VAZ-21051 was equipped with an engine from a VAZ 2101 (volume 1200 cc, 58 hp) with a 4-speed engine. Checkpoint;
  4. VAZ-21053 was equipped with a VAZ-2103 carburetor engine (volume 1450 cc, 71 hp);
  5. VAZ-21053-20 was completed with injection engine from VAZ-2104 (volume 1450 cc, power 71 hp), meeting the requirements of Euro-2. Also with him was 5 tbsp. Transmission.

For reference: the wiring of the VAZ 21053 differed in a different form of terminals in the engine compartment. This was caused by the installation of the ECM - electronic system engine control and additional sensors.

Features of the electrical equipment of the VAZ 2105 car

The electrical equipment of the VAZ-2105 car is made according to the classic single-wire circuit for the Zhiguli family, in which:

  1. the metal body of the car plays the role of the second wire;
  2. negative conclusions of all electrical devices and the components are connected to ground;
  3. electrical circuits are protected by fuses;
  4. the operation of the main systems is activated through the car ignition lock.

For reference: the ignition switch controls electrical networks by supplying power from a battery or generator.
The contact group of the lock is designed in such a way that at the time of starting the engine, the wiring of the VAZ 2105 secondary circuits is turned off.

Egnition lock

An ignition lock was used as a control system for the electrical systems of the car, which had four main positions:

  1. Position "0" - everything is off.
  2. Position "1" - ignition is on. The key is locked in the lock, while with the key inserted, external lighting circuits, control devices and alarm lamps (brake fluid level, oil pressure in the engine, fuel level in the gas tank) can be activated;
  3. Position "2" - starter activation. The auxiliary circuits and the VAZ 21053 wiring connecting them do not work to facilitate starting the engine;
  4. Position "3" - parking. All circuits are disengaged and the steering column is locked when the key is removed.

For reference: the factory manual informs that regardless of the position of the key, the interior lighting lamps, brake light lamps (when you press the brake pedal), horn and portable lamp connector remain energized.

Fuse and relay box

To protect electrical circuits and devices, a circuit for breaking the electrical connection by a fuse is used. This happens when the voltage increases - the fuse-link melts from temperature and the circuit is disconnected.

The photo shows:

  1. From 1 to 17 - fuses;
  2. Relay 18 is responsible for turning on the dipped headlights;
  3. Relay 19 is responsible for turning on high beam headlights;
  4. Relay 21 activates the head light cleaner and washer;
  5. Relay 22 is responsible for turning on the heated rear window.

For reference: a jumper is indicated under No. 20. The wiring diagram of the VAZ 21053 in export version is distinguished by the installation of a relay for turning on sound signals in this place.

To independently service the car, you need a VAZ 2103 wiring diagram, with which the owner can safely and correctly carry out routine maintenance. Otherwise, mistakes are inevitable, and the very conduct technical works would be inappropriate.

The VAZ 2103 car was a luxury version of the VAZ 2101, which, in the course of the general plan for the production of cars at the plant in Togliatti, was originally planned for release. That's why:

The price for the VAZ 2103 was higher precisely due to improvements in the interior and exterior. But due to the complete unification of parts of the two models, the cost of cars was practically equal.

External changes

Changes in the appearance led to the fact that the wiring of the VAZ 2103 was radically redesigned. In particular:

  1. The use of dual headlamps required an additional wiring harness at the front of the vehicle;
  2. Block-type brake lights also required modernization of the wiring in the rear of the car;
  3. The turn repeaters were located at the ends of the wings, and on the front part they were duplicated in the same block with the parking lights. Accordingly, the wiring on the VAZ 2103 has been modified taking into account these changes.

Internal differences in electrical circuits

In contrast to the "norm" standard, on luxury models to which the VAZ 2103 belonged, an increase in functionality was required. In particular:

  1. Installing an electric washer windshield required modernization electrical unit steering column wiper control;
  2. An electronic tachometer has been added to the instrument scale, and the instrument scale itself has undergone visual changes;
  3. There were additional warning lamps and an electric clock on the dashboard;
  4. The installation of an alarm in the VAZ 2103 configuration has become the norm (it was not installed on the VAZ 2101).

The main feature of the electrical circuit classic cars family VAZ is single conductivity. Those. all negative leads of assemblies and devices are directly connected to the "ground" of the car, which essentially acts as a second wire.

Thanks to this constructive decision the wiring of the VAZ 2106 is made as follows:

  1. The main electrical circuits of the car are activated only through the ignition switch;
  2. The electrical mechanisms responsible for safety are connected directly to the battery through the fuse box;
  3. The housings of all major vehicle components are conductive.

Caution: be sure to remove the negative terminal from the battery every time you remove a part.
Accidental metal tools touching the terminals and housing will cause a short circuit.

Egnition lock

  1. Is the control mechanism of the ignition system;
  2. Serves as a security and anti-theft system;
  3. Allows you to transport a vehicle in tow with the alarm on.

  1. Accumulator battery with negative terminal connection to ground (car body);
  2. Electric starter with terminal "50" from the ignition switch through the starting relay;

  1. In position "0", battery power is supplied only to terminals 30 and 30/1. All other systems are disabled;
  2. In the “I” position, terminals 30-INT and 30 / 1-15 are energized. In this mode, only parking lights, wiper windscreen, heater heater fan;
  3. In position "II", terminal 30-50 is added to those already connected. The ignition system, starter, instruments on the panel, parking lights and turns are activated;
  4. In position "III", only the side lights, horn and windscreen wipers remain active. Power is supplied to terminals 30-INT and 30/1.

Additional (non-standard) devices and equipment

On some modifications of the VAZ 2106 car, the following are installed:

  1. rear window heating system;
  2. windshield washer equipped with an electric drive;
  3. headlight dipped beam relay.

Accordingly, the wiring on the VAZ 2106 is different for such modifications. In particular, these devices are powered on a separate wire through the ignition switch. It can only be activated with key positions "I" and "II".

For reference: since the washer reservoir is made of plastic, the electric motor receives a "minus" on the wire.
When replacing, do not forget to put a protective plastic cover on the contacts.

Features of the electrical network

In a VAZ 2106 car, they are constantly energized, regardless of the position of the key in the ignition lock:

  1. Electrical circuit of sound signals (horn);
  2. Incandescent brake lights;
  3. Alarm;
  4. Cigarette lighter;
  5. Plug socket for portable lamp;
  6. Illumination lamps built into the ends of the front doors.
