Methods for increasing ground clearance

Since the road surface on the territory of the CIS countries, basically, leaves much to be desired, pits and bumps, many Aveo owners are trying to increase the clearance height in order to avoid damage to the protective elements of the body, such as bumpers and door sills. This can be done in several ways. The most common is the installation of spacers or springs with shock absorbers. Let's consider both options.

Spacers

Spacers are rubber-metal plates that are inserted between the body and the shock absorber to increase the vehicle's ride height. These rework parts can be purchased at car markets or auto dealerships. Since the cost is much lower than shock absorbers and springs, spacers are preferred by most motorists.

Installation of spacers.

Consider the sequence of work to install the spacers:

• We carry out the dismantling of the shock absorber strut along with all components.
• Dismantle the metal cover that fixes the spring.

The height of the Т300 model is 1517 mm, which is almost 12 mm higher than the previous models. At the same time, the ground clearance has remained the same and ranges from 150 to 155 mm, depending on the type of tires and disks. As a result, the cabin height has increased and the car has become more comfortable.

The car has become wider by 25 mm. In the 2004 - 2011 models, it was 1710 mm in size, the new horizontal dimensions were 1735 mm, and with the mirrors unfolded in the working position, 2004 mm. Now the Chevrolet Aveo sedan has three passenger seats in the back, which can easily accommodate adult large passengers. Even behind the driver, a man with a height of 180 centimeters can sit freely.

The length has changed upwards by 89 mm, and became 4399 mm, the previous models were 4310 mm. Together with the length, the wheelbase changed - it became 2525 mm, which made the car more stable, and at the same time the maneuverability remained at the same level as it was with the distance between the axles of the wheel sets of 2480 mm. The volume of the trunk has also increased significantly.

The track has leveled off and the difference between the front and rear wheels is only 2 mm, this is 1497/1495 mm. In Chevrolet sedan cars of production before 2012, the difference was 20 mm, and it was 1450/1430 mm in the center of the track. The size of the disks has undergone major changes. On the Chevrolet T250 sedan, they were from 13 to 15 inches. The Aveo sedan with 17-inch wheels looks more aggressive and dynamic.

The curb weight due to the installation of additional equipment has increased by 50 kilograms, from the previous 997 kg. At the same time, the carrying capacity has become less, which can disappoint the owners of the car, who use it as a family car for long trips and a work car. The sedan model T300 has a curb weight of 1147, and the permissible total weight is 1598 kg, instead of 1500 kg of the T250 model range. The mass of the trailer is allowed with brakes, a ton, without brakes, half as much.

The upper part of the T300 sedan passes with a smooth line into the trunk lid, which is inflated and has a size to the bottom at the wing level of 562 mm. From the reclining backrest of the passenger seat to the rear wall 997 - 1627 mm. The result is a total trunk volume of 502 liters. For transporting luggage, you can use the space that opens when the seat is folded.

For comparison, we can say that on previous models of sedan cars from Chevrolet, the trunk volume was 375 - 400 cubic meters. At the same time, the volume of the gas tank has been increased from 45 to 46 liters.

Aesthetic look

The new Chevrolet Aveo sedan looks sporty, impetuous and a little predatory. The traditional radiator grille with chrome strip is replaced by a double false grille with shiny surround. Each of the four headlights is located in a separate well under the rounding of the bonnet. At the bottom are fog lights in protruding round shades, like cannons.

The flowing roofline, characteristic of racing cars, is completed by a boot lid. Stamped lines along the body give the vehicle a swiftness. Large discs under the protruding arches of the fenders make it look aggressive and stable.

The harmony of the sedan's image is spoiled by the taillights. They are large, passing to the sides and too bulky and bright for fast-paced sports forms.

The torpedo has changed more significantly than the body. The dashboard is similar to the instrument cluster on racing motorcycles. All information about speed, revs and fuel consumption is displayed on one screen and is easy to read. Made an additional glove compartment and a case for glasses in the left front door.

The Aveo was designed by Italian auto stylists, and cars were produced at many GM assembly plants in different parts of the world (Korea, Russia, China) and sold in more than 160 countries around the world.
