As a rule, if the candles are overgrown, then the coils in such conditions can work no more than 40,000 km.

Most cars of this model are equipped with a 1.4-liter engine. There is no chain on these motors, so no problem. But on the other hand, this motor has a timing belt that must be changed every 80,000 km. The main thing is not to allow it to break off. By the way, all engines require only high-quality fuel, if you accidentally fill in burned gasoline, the neutralizer may fail, and in general you can get to overhaul the engine.

There are also modifications with a motor, the volume of which is 1.6 liters. In this motor, the timing chain drive lasts a long time, the only thing that needs to be monitored is to clean the throttle body from deposits.

There is also a CFNA series motor, which they began to install in the post-styled Fabia, and in the Volkswagen Polo, which is also produced at the Kaluga plant. On these engines, pistons on a cold engine can hit the cylinder walls with a short skirt. At first, dealers changed these pistons under warranty, although these knocks do not lead to serious consequences. And after 2013, the pistons were modified, the geometry was changed on them, and this problem passed.

Skoda Fabia with diesel engines were not officially sold in Russia, there are only European versions, which are equipped with a 1.4-liter engine. The diesel modification of Fabia has no special problems, although you need to refuel with high-quality diesel fuel, because each injector costs about 350 euros.

Gear boxes

The 1.6-liter gasoline engine comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox - Aisin Warner TF-61SN. This is a fairly reliable box, the only thing is that it requires expensive and clean oil. The oil must be changed every 80,000 km. If there are jolts or freezes during gear shifting, the oil needs to be changed urgently.

But on post-styling cars with motors, the volume of which is less, the DQ200 robot box with 2 clutches is included in the kit. It is not as reliable as an automatic machine, so it is better to choose cars younger than 2012, it was this year that the preselective was modernized on cars and stopped bringing problems.

And on older cars, there is a possibility that the control program will begin to glitch, and the Luk clutch will have to be changed after 50,000 km. mileage.

There is also a mechanical 5-mortar 02T - series, which is distinguished by its reliability. There is one weak link on the mechanical box - the input shaft bearing, on cars produced before restyling it can already junk after 30,000 km. You can identify the problem if you listen - when a characteristic rumble is heard at idle, which disappears if you squeeze the clutch.

After restyling, the bearing was redesigned, and this problem began to happen much less frequently. And if the clarity of the gears is lost, and the gears begin to engage tightly, then you need to check the shift mechanism. There is also a situation when after 80,000 km. mileage. knocks will appear when shifting gears, then you need to look for the problem in the engine mounts.

Suspension reliability

On cars from the first years of production, knocks in the suspension often appeared, which emitted rear silent blocks on the front levers, each of which cost 8 euros. They could last no more than 40,000 km. mileage. After 2008, these silent blocks were modernized and their range increased to 100,000 km. mileage.

The stabilizer bushings do not serve for a particularly long time, after about 40,000 km. they already need to be changed, but the stabilizer struts last longer - 90,000 km each. Each rack is inexpensive - 15 euros. The front shock absorbers last the same and cost 55 euros each.

But the most important suspension costs occur after 100,000 km. mileage. The rear shock absorbers need to be replaced, each costing 60 euros. If there is a squeak when the steering wheel is twisting, it means that the support bearings of the front struts need to be replaced. It is also advisable to change the steering tips, each of which costs 17 euros. It will be necessary to change the hub, which is assembled with wheel bearings. And the ball joints and silent blocks of the rear beam last the longest, they can last at least 180,000 km.

The steering can also go awry, especially if the rack and pinion leaks, you will have to change the entire steering gear assembly, this will cost about 750 euros. The braking system does not create special difficulties, except that the rear drum mechanisms can knock. This problem can be eliminated by cleaning and lubricating them.

In general, Fabia has minor troubles, but she doesn't have much serious problems. Therefore, for those who want to get this car, it is best to choose the version after restyling with a 1.6-liter engine, no matter which gearbox. And the price of Fabia is very good, only Lada Kalina, Renault Clio and Peugeot 207 can be cheaper than Fabia. But Mazda 2, Toyota Yaris or Ford Fiesta are much more expensive. Even a Volkswagen Polo produced at the same Kaluga plant will also cost about 50 thousand rubles more.

Perhaps not a single B-class hatchback in Russia has gained such popularity as the second generation Fabia. The car is still in the price, although when buying it you should choose the right modification. The car has enough ailments, but, armed with knowledge, they can be minimized.

The historical excursion will be short. Fabia arrived in Russia in 2007 with three petrol engines 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 liters. Diesels were left to the Europeans. The car was greeted warmly, although it belonged to the unpopular class of supermini hatchbacks. The prices in the salons were "tasty" then. In 2010, there were restyling and modernization, there were TSI turbo engines, a 180-horsepower charged version of the RS, as well as a DSG "robot". But this did not affect the popularity of the model much. She was loved for her gambling handling, ergonomics and practicality.

Since supercharged engines are poorly represented on the "secondary" (less than 7%), attention should be paid to MPI aspirated engines. Not all of them are considered hassle-free, although you can find machines on the market, as they say, 300+. Junior and senior - 1.2 and 1.6 - "chain". Moreover, the chain resource of a 70-strong 1.2 does not exceed 100 thousand km, and its replacement costs serious money. This unit has to be twisted harder to get a return. All motors have thermal control problems. Especially the smaller ones. They are followed by a problematic start in winter and a long warm-up. They are also characterized by frequent failures of the ignition coils. So it is better not to economize on the quality of gasoline and candles. But the "maslozhor" on runs after 120-150 thousand km is mostly the lot of older engines. By the way, they are considered the most reliable. But we cannot say for sure which of them exactly. Many are confused by the frequent problems with the throttle, which every now and then should be flushed (and changed the throttle control sensor) in the 105-horsepower 1.6. Others do not trust the 86-horsepower timing belt drive 1.4. And in vain, the belt goes as standard and there are no surprises with it. So our choice is 1.4 with manual gearbox.

Stay away from DSG

The machine, however (and it was installed in a set with a 1.6-liter MPI), was not known as a weakling either. Although its cooling system leaves much to be desired. The valve body is considered its weak point, but this is already after 150 thousand km. In mechanics, by the way, you can run into the replacement of the bearings of the drive shaft. But this is rare and, rather, on cars with the most powerful turbo engines that load the MCP more heavily. And it's better not to mention the "robot" DSG, you should stay away from it. CV joints, if you monitor the integrity of the anthers, do not fail for a very long time. So are the brakes. Front pad pads can be grinded for 60 thousand km. Hub bearings, if they fail, are mainly as a result of injuries after racing through potholes. The situation is a little worse with the power steering and its electric pump. The seals can leak over time, 2010-2014, but if you do not miss the level and quality of the liquid, then the unit will serve for a long time. The electric amplifier that appeared after the restyling of 2010, alas, cannot boast of such a margin of safety.

You should not count on good sound insulation. Fabia owners note that even the additional "noise" does not solve the problem with decibels. Humble yourself, the radio tape recorder will help you. The back row seat is really not enough. This car is for two. However, the doorway is high enough for a comfortable fit on the sofa.

In 2010, the Fabia RS hit the market with a 180-horsepower 1.4-liter TSI twin-turbo engine. The car enjoyed some success. In Russia, the Fabia Combi station wagon was also assembled, although for some reason this modification did not find a particular response from buyers. The Combi Scout version was also sold in Europe, but they decided not to import it to us

No better and no worse than others

Despite the simple design of the suspensions, there is a McPherson in front and an elastic beam at the back, after 120 thousand km you cannot complain about the lack of sounds from below. It is only at first that the costs of the chassis will be negligible. And after the indicated milestone, in turn, every now and then ask for replacement steering tips and rods, support bearings of struts, shock absorbers and often silent blocks of the front levers. At the back, by the way, there is nothing special to break. Many consider the body to be strong and rust-resistant, regardless of the place of assembly (since 2008, the car has been localized in Russia on a full cycle). However, in older copies, you can already notice corrosion on the corners of the front fenders at the points of contact with the bumper, along the lower edges of the doors, under the plastic of the linings. There are traditional complaints about worn glass and headlights. However, the salon is even nothing. The steering wheel, of course, will be polished to a shine on a car with a range of over 150 thousand km, and the seat padding will probably start to slowly crumble. But there is no particular crime.

But there are a lot of complaints about the electrician, especially given the small number of electronic systems. Driving through puddles quickly finishes the generator, the wiring is often frayed in the corrugation of the doors, there are failures of the central locking, seat heating and power windows. Often people change a dashboard that has gone out. In short, a car is no better and no worse than others. So is it worth taking? Worth it. The Fabia is a pleasure to drive and the ergonomics of the cabin are beyond praise. In addition, the cost of servicing a used car is not prohibitive, and the market is full of inexpensive, but high-quality analogues of original components, including the "tin".

Suspension

Many people note the reliable front struts and shock absorbers on cars with a package for bad roads. Silent blocks and ball "fly" after a series of hard blows. The hubs do not fail by themselves. And the two rear beam silent blocks can easily be witnesses to the natural "death" of the car.

Transmission

Fabia should have a good MCP. But the hydraulic Aisin (09G) with a 1.6 engine is also difficult to reproach. It is, in theory, designed to work with more powerful motors. However, if the valve body “sailed”, and the car jerked when switching, it will hardly be possible to find a cheap solution to the problem.

Engine

The piston resource of 1.4 engines is often higher than 250 thousand km. And the reasons for the "maslozhor" of all engines are well known: valve oil seals, crankcase ventilation system with a breaking PCV valve and coking of the piston rings as a result. If you change the valve in time and monitor the ventilation, then the chances of the motor are good.

Body

Many people call the main misfortune of the body the accumulation of water after rains (up to several liters) in the spare wheel well. The liquid enters here supposedly through the "weak" seals of the fifth door. However, servicemen are more guilty of sealing the rear lights. The treatment is simple - to seal or simply drill the drainage outward in the niche.

Electrician

Perhaps the weakest point of the car. The generator may not live up to 150 thousand km. Problems with ignition coils. Interior equipment failures: central locking, power windows, seat heating. According to the latter, a recall campaign was even announced at one time. The threads are thin, so it's not worth pushing the seats with something sharp.
