  • in all trim levels, you can open the trunk and the fuel tank hatch from the passenger compartment;

  • maximum speed 185 km / h;
  • complete set with a five-speed manual transmission;
  • the ability to choose one of the engines - with a volume of 1.5 liters or 1.6.

The main advantage of Nexia is its reliability; most motorists visit car services only at the time of routine diagnostics. The owners note the following advantages of this car:

  • high controllability;
  • maneuverability;
  • clearly holds the road.

At the same time, the car has one significant drawback that reduces the possibility of using it on Russian roads - a small clearance.

The main characteristics are as follows:

  • up to 100 km / h the car accelerates in 12 seconds;
  • the maximum speed is limited to 180 km / h;
  • when driving on the highway, it consumes 5.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, and in the city it takes from 8 to 9.

Most car owners appreciate the maintainability of this car - spare parts for it can be purchased at any store, and you can fix the problems yourself. In addition, the owner has the opportunity to independently modify the car to the ideal.

The trunk of the VAZ-2112 is smaller than that of the Nexia - only 400 liters. If we compare cars in terms of ground clearance, then it is approximately the same - about 165 millimeters. At the same time, the permeability of this model is not the worst. The negative qualities of the VAZ-2112 are, first of all, factory defects of the car. They are found in the gas distribution mechanism, manual transmission, starter and thermostat. The manufacturer is also blamed for an excessively stiff suspension, because of which it is quite difficult and unpleasant to move through pits and bumps.

Main technical parameters

For an ordinary buyer, there are no significant differences in the device of the Lada and Nexia. Inline arrangement of 4 cylinders of the engine, 5-speed, transmission, suspension, brakes, fuel tank volume - all this is the same in the presented cars. The warranty period for both cars is three years. True, in kilometers for Nexia it is 100,000, and for Grants - 50,000. But the service interval is just longer for Lada: here 15,000 km versus 10,000 km. ? Nexia is 200 mm longer than Grants and 30 mm less in width, and also 107 mm lower. The difference is small, but for drivers, especially beginners, it is significant. In other words, Lada will require more precision and experience. The ability to feel the size of a car is a matter of practice.

It is worth noting the differences between the models in terms of the characteristics of the luggage compartment. Its volume differs significantly in favor of Nexia. The difference in the maximum permissible load volume is 50 liters. Nevertheless, experienced buyers note that the convenience of the trunk is the prerogative of Lada.

It is equipped with an airbag. Passengers in Grant are more spacious than in Nexia. There is still about 10 cm of free space between the legs of the passengers and the front seats. The front seats themselves are equipped with pockets located on the backrest. But there are no ceiling handles in a domestic car. However, this detail is not commonly used. "Standard" and "Norm" are not equipped with them, which forces the installation of an on-board computer. But Nexia of any configuration has such a sensor. A significant argument against the Nexia can be the fact that fuel consumption is higher than that of Grants (10.2 versus 8.5 liters per 100 km in city mode). The gasoline itself is also different, the Lada Granta is refueled with the AI-95 brand, and the Nexia with the AI-92.

Repair and service

The differences in the terms of the warranty and service of the car were mentioned above. As for the availability of the products the motorist needs in auto parts stores, the preponderance undoubtedly lies on the side of Lada Grant. It is easy to find spare parts that are suitable for domestic cars. The necessary components will be in stock if we are talking about Lada. But spare parts for Nexia will have to wait for several days or weeks.

The good build quality of the Lada Granta still leaves room for improvement. This fact also characterizes the young Nexia. It is difficult to find significant differences between the models in this sense. It can be noted that over time, Lada is undergoing changes for the better.

In conclusion, it is worth saying: an unequivocal decision as to which is better: Daewoo Nexia or Lada Granta, depends on the individual needs of a particular driver. Someone, in the case of the Nexia, will give preference to maneuverability, while reducing the requirements for the level of safety. Someone, choosing a domestic car, will make a choice in favor of a slightly more conservative, but reliable and comfortable ride. Someone will make a decision only by comparing both models. At a quick glance, both cars are decently assembled, which is commendable for Uzbeks, but gratifying for Russians. Smooth gaps, no obvious distortions of the outer panels, doors and trunk close easily and without unpleasant bounce. Coloring also does not cause any particular complaints. "Nexia" adequately endures Russian bad weather - this is confirmed by lengthy editorial tests. There is still little experience with Kalina, but something is already alarming: the bumpers will soon lose their gloss, from which the paint peels off in pieces.

Salon "Nexia" evokes nostalgic sadness. The plastic of the dashboard is cheap, but the details are fitted neatly - you can't find fault. Pale, poorly readable devices match the ascetic setting. The tachometer, like the power windows and central locking, is only for the rich GLE trim levels (by the way, we are considering it). But all the owners of the "Nexia" are pampered with a head unit, four speakers and a telescopic antenna.

You get into the Kalina as if in a time machine. Modern interior, lots of air, pleasant materials and colors. It is more comfortable behind the wheel than in the "Nexia", although the seats would have been "more figured". Nice dashboard with digital display, on which - mileage and trip computer readings. A clear minus: under a seemingly large lid there is a very small "glove compartment". The glasses and the radio box are hard to fit.

In the "norm" configuration (Kalina has no others yet) there are power windows in the front doors, athermal windows, an immobilizer, a central locking with remote control and even an alarm. The buyer of "Lada" can save on it, and several hundred "green" for music and its installation will have to pay.

In the "Nexia" in the second row, you can't really walk around - there is not much room at the legs and the ceiling is low, like in a "Khrushchev". But the luggage is at ease - the 530-liter trunk is large even by modern standards. True, part of the useful volume is eaten by the hinges, and it is difficult to load large-sized items into a narrowed opening. You will have to forget about the transportation of long items: the backrest does not recline.

The back seat of the Kalina is more spacious, although it is almost half a meter shorter than the Nexia. Each passenger has three-point seat belts. Where are the headrests? After all, they are installed even on more modest "Samars" and "tens". The trunk is rather big, but still more cramped than the "Uzbek". The advantage of "Kalina" - the back seat is folded in parts (40:60). But the shelf covering the spare wheel well is too flimsy - it bends even under a light load.

DYNAMICS OF EVENTS

Let's start the engine ... Yes, the model age of the "Nexia" cannot be hidden by any restyling. True, the small noise and vibrations that penetrate into the interior are almost not annoying. And remembering about the price, you completely forgive "Nexia" minor flaws. The eight-valve engine is confidently lucky from low revs, acceleration to a hundred in 14.3 seconds (data from measurements at the test site - ZR, 2001, No. 6) instill confidence: 75 "horses" are working at full strength.

Now forget what I said about the noise and vibration of the Nexia! It is necessary to turn the key in the Kalina ignition lock and the engine immediately wants to be turned off. The salon is filled with an unpleasant loud roar of the engine, the gearbox sings along in unison. The epicenter of vibrations is on the lever, from which a palpable tremor spreads throughout the body. With increasing revs, these sounds are amplified and new ones are added - a creaky word inserts the dashboard. It's a pity - it all started so well.

Extra "cubes" and "horses" make themselves felt. "Kalina" wins over "Nexia" for about a second in acceleration to a hundred, and is stronger in elasticity: from 80 to 120 km / h in fifth gear it accelerates almost 7 seconds faster (ZR, 2005, No. 10). But getting under way on the Kalina is not very pleasant. Slightly dropped the clutch, vibrations and noise disappear ... along with the sound of a stalled engine. Didn't you hear it right away? This is the stove fan, already at low speed, ready to shout out the motor.

Small irregularities "Daewoo" swallows quietly, and on the pits and bumps more suspension begins to give voice. In cornering "Nexia" willingly heels, but on a straight line does not tire the driver by steering. In general, nothing outstanding, moderately flexible and comfortable car. True, you have to get used to an uninformative brake pedal. And remember - in the minimum configuration you should not rely on power steering.

Suspensions "Kalina" deserve praise - even on rough roads, it is rarely "punched". At the same time, the car, almost without swaying, floats along the waves of asphalt, confidently passing potholes. With a ground clearance of 185 mm, you can fearlessly move off the hard surface - just go broke on engine protection ahead of time. Electric power steering is put on all "viburnum". But you will get wet while you make four (!) Full turns to shift the wheels from lock to lock. You will also have to sweat at high speed. "Kalina" reluctantly keeps the course, strives to swerve to the side, and reacts thoughtfully and reluctantly to steering movements. And the brakes cannot be called clear and effective (for more details, see ZR, 2005, No. 8).

NOTES FOR THE FUTURE

"Nexia" has become so Russianized that spare parts (not even the most popular ones) are, perhaps, in any city. Simple construction does not deter repairmen. In addition, the reliability of the car saves the owner from frequent visits to them. "Daewoo" is recommended to be serviced every 10 thousand km, "Kalina" has an interservice mileage of one and a half times more. Prices for maintenance and spare parts are almost the same. At first glance, it is more profitable to maintain the Lada. But…

The original spare parts of "Kalina" have to wait from several weeks to months, and at prices they are quite competitive with foreign brands (see table). After all, "Kalina" is a modern car, and therefore its components are not cheaper than most foreign models. Maybe the reliability is not lower than overseas? Alas! The editorial berry has already visited the warranty station several times in six months and will soon go there again.

Most of the foreign cars entering our market have always been more perfect than Russian cars. Riding is a pleasure! It is expensive to repair. The novelties of the domestic auto industry are gradually breaking stereotypes. The ease of maintenance, for which Russian models are so loved, is leaving. In terms of reliability, the new VAZ did not add, the design became more complicated, and, accordingly, the maintainability was worse.

Not so long ago, the prices of our models and available foreign cars differed significantly. For this, domestic cars were forgiven for many shortcomings. Now "Kalina" and "Nexia" in similar trim levels are almost the same. In addition, there are other foreign cars in this price sector.
