The seventh incarnation of the Toyota Mark II. The seventh incarnation of Toyota Mark II How much does the Toyota Mark 2 90 body weigh?

Toyota Mark II is a legendary and beloved car by the global automotive community. On its account, the model has more than 30 years of production and a whole era that created the cult of the Japanese car.

History

"Brand" The first generation of the model was born in 1968. From the first to the fifth model "Stamps" were especially popular in their country. Starting with the seventh generation Toyota Mark II received a version of the Tourer V with a powerful turbocharged engine, export to other countries began. From that moment on, the car gradually began to become megapopular all over the world. The ninth generation is today the last car produced under the name "Mark-2". 110 body changed the car a lot compared to the previous versions. The car was produced in the period from 2000 to 2004. After that, the ninth generation was replaced by the Mark X. "Toyota-Mark-2" 110 body became the last car in the series and the closure of an entire era of Japanese automotive industry. For 4 years of production "Mark" has gone through a restyling once.

Description Mark 2

Toyota Mark II is a business class car, mainly for the domestic Japanese market. It was produced from 1968 to 2004, in which Toyota Mark X came to replace it. Despite the years that have passed since the end of its production, the car is still popular today, largely thanks to the powerful, legendary 1JZ-GTE engines, along with it went motors and quieter, with a working volume of 1.8 to 3 liters. The whole truth about all these Mark 2 engines is collected and awaits your attention, malfunctions and repairs, correct tuning, oil and much more.

Exterior

The final generation Mark II was built on a new platform that the model shared with the Verossa. The wheelbase, in comparison with the previous generation, has grown by 50 mm (2780 mm), the width (by 5 mm to 1760 mm) and height (by 60 mm, to 1460 mm) of the body have also been increased, while its length has decreased by 25 mm (up to 4735 mm).

The car has received an updated radiator grille stretched U-shape with six, dividing it in half horizontally, "ribs".

On the grill there is a branded "Markov" nameplate of the model, while on the stern - "Toyota". The headlights of the car were noticeably rounded (in the previous generation they were rectangular, elongated). The front bumper has a wide central section of the air intake, horizontally partitioned off with a stylistic "blade". The side niches, where the fog lights were located, had a narrow wedge-shaped shape.

The manufacturer has carefully worked out the aerodynamics of the model, which was improved by a more streamlined shape of the roof and side body panels. The rear view from the driver's seat is worsened by the enlarged rear pillars, but wide side mirrors save the situation. The rear bumper of the model is solid, massive. The taillights are triangular and are arranged vertically.

Interior

The company has responsibly approached the release of the final generation of one of its most successful models. Thus, all vehicle configurations received new, high-quality materials for upholstery and trim. The interior itself, thanks to the increased width and height, has become more spacious than that of the previous generation.

The front seats received wide seats and backs, limited by small lateral support. And the back sofa has found a new seat with two stylistically highlighted seats and a backrest piled back.

The dashboard of the Mark II is rectangular, with rounded edges, a large speedometer and tachometer are located on it, to which small gauges of the remaining fuel in the tank and the temperature of the coolant are "stuck".

The center console is V-shaped, it houses the multimedia system screen, the radio tape recorder and the climate system controls. The steering wheel of the model is three-spoke, with an average thickness of the rim.

Comfort

Rear passengers will feel like VIPs. Two complete seats provide all the amenities for a pleasant trip. The functionality of the rear seats is not much less than for the front ones. In expensive trim levels, additional monitors are offered in the headrests of the front seats. In addition, the fifth passenger in this car is not considered deprived, as is customary in luxury business classes. A rather large person can become the third passenger in the back row, while he will almost not bother the rest. Mark-2 is one of the most spacious sedans. So it remains to this day. The same can be said for the trunk.

Specifications

In the ninth generation, manufacturers completely abandoned the use of diesel engines. The developers have changed the high pressure fuel supply system. Always for 4 years of production, the car was produced in 6 different trim levels. Two 2-liter 1JZ-FSE engines with a capacity of 160 horses each. One of the options was equipped with permanent all-wheel drive. The following 3 trim levels offer a 2.5 liter engine. The front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions produced 200 horsepower each. The turbocharged engine squeezed out a whopping 250.

The most powerful version is 3 liters and 220 horsepower. The maximum speed of such a machine is 210 km / h, it is equipped with an automatic transmission and "eats" as much as 15 liters per 100 km. For comparison, the weaker versions fit in 10 liters. Economical "Mark-2" can not be called.

The Mark II in the X110 body was equipped only with gasoline engines of 2.0 (160 hp) and 2.5 liters (had three power modifications - atmospheric 196 hp, with direct injection - 200 hp, and turbocharged - 280 hp) .from.). The power plants were paired with a 5-speed "mechanics" and a 4-speed "automatic". The drive is rear / full.

Parameters

For nine generations, the manufacturer experimented with the motor line. He constantly increased it and chose larger motors. In the last, ninth, generation, Japanese engineers decided to stop at 2; 2.5 and 3 liter units.

The 2.5 liter version had three different power modifications.

The drive is traditionally rear-wheel drive, but a full drive was optionally offered. Transmission: either 5MKPP or 4-speed automatic.

The cost of the Mark II in 110 body

The purchase of this car, even at one time, was a rather difficult task, since the Mark-2 110 was not officially supplied to the Russian market. The price of used cars today varies greatly. A car in poor condition can be purchased for 150-200 thousand rubles. But usually the owners of such rare and legendary Japanese keep an eye on their cars, so the cost of a normal "Mark-2" (110 body) starts at 400 thousand.

You can also find options and more expensive, up to 1 million rubles or more. It all depends on the amount of money invested in the car by the previous owner. But even now, the acquisition of "Mark" is a profitable investment. If you choose an option in a good configuration and in an acceptable condition, then the car will serve a new owner for a very long time. After all, the old Japanese are made conscientiously and are ready to leave for more than 20-25 years with minimal investment in repairs.

The Mark II is everyone's favorite car. For some, it is associated with drifting or street racing, for others - with comfort and business class. The beauty of this model is that it is versatile. Toyota once created a legend whose authority still remains unshakable. Not only the ninth generation is popular, but also the three previous ones. It is, of course, extremely difficult to find the first versions of the "Mark", but for true lovers of Japanese cars the ninth generation is a landmark, because the era of the second "Mark" ended there. The follower of the Mark X has not found such popular love and fame, although it is the same high-quality car.

Toyota Mark II owner reviews

Toyota Mark II, 1994

I got a Toyota Mark II by accident, my father bought it and gave it to me. From the first day I fell in love with this car, it is surprisingly soft, the steering wheel can be released and go quietly even at the entrance / exit from the bridge. I am young, so the rear-wheel drive made me very happy, the car went sideways even on the asphalt. I had an 18 cast, and the bumps were slightly felt on it, but the steering wheel did not beat. Having rearranged it to winter tires with 15 discs in the fall, I realized that this is just not a car, but a jacuzzi, Toyota Mark II floats smoothly along the road, if you do not indulge in gas, then it confidently holds the road, thanks to its mass. I liked this car absolutely everyone. In the salon I had velor. I rode with my friends in the evenings, the music was not regular, very cool. How much noise she made, I quietly rolled through the streets with open windows. If you close the windows, you can hear absolutely nothing of what is happening outside the passenger compartment, you don't feel the speed in the car, you used to think 80/90, but there is already 140. In the summer I really like it when the window is down, there is no arch above the door, it looks very cool. I used Toyota Mark II for about 3 months, only changed the candles. In general, the car is just fire. Does not creak, does not make noise and only pleases.

Advantages : comfort. Smooth running. Reliability.

disadvantages : these cars are no longer produced.

Toyota Mark II, 1996

The car was ordered in Japan. It took a week to pick it up, but the delivery took about a month. Comfort in the Toyota Mark II is great. Landing, seats, driver's seat - everything is very comfortable, it has many different adjustments. As for the visibility - just super. The interior of the Toyota Mark II looks luxurious, is made in black and trimmed with expensive materials. The brown interior cannot be compared to such a rare splendor. I don't want to offend anyone, but for such a car, such a salon looks, it seemed to me, a little poor. So the interior of my "Mark" is trimmed with high-quality velor and good artificial leather. What upset me was the scratches on the sensor glass. This is a common thing for Toyota; even a rag leaves scratches on these glasses. We could somehow fix this matter. The steering wheel covers half of the dashboard, although the steering wheel is comfortable. What I was pleased with was the heated mirrors. And also an ionizer and xenon adjustable. A very simple and easy to use CD-changer. In one hole you insert six discs in turn, that's all. The air conditioner adjustments are shown on the display. I was pleasantly surprised by some new functions, although I had to suffer to figure out what's what in these hieroglyphs. The "Shumka" in the Toyota Mark II is just excellent, especially when compared to the "Corolla", which I drove before. And the rear of the cabin is much more spacious. The Toyota Mark II consumes about 11-12 liters of fuel. Although it depends on how you drive and which road. If the road surface is better and the speed on the highway is 110-120, then I think it would be limited to 10 liters. But I cannot force myself to drive at a speed of 110 km / h with a 200 horsepower engine.

Advantages : Japanese made the body solid, good visibility and excellent interior.

disadvantages : getting dirty when you close the trunk.

Toyota Mark II, 1996

Externally, Toyota Mark II liked its square shapes. For its age, in my opinion, the car looks modern, does not get lost in the crowd. High ground clearance and four-wheel drive allow you to climb into such a jungle into which not every SUV or jeep will climb. The wife, when she saw the purchase, was in seventh heaven. Inside the Toyota Mark II, the trim is pleasing to the eye. But I was carrying something to compare, but my opinion is everything in its place, there is nothing superfluous. There is really a lot of space in the cabin. The climate is doing its job successfully. Pleased and heated wipers, in winter it really helps. In general, full power accessories, with the exception of heating, there is everything. The engine works like a clock, but at the same time he loves oil very much (mileage at the time of purchase is 297,000 km) and I am more than sure that they twisted such a skin. The previous owner said that he did not climb under the hood at all, he only changed the oil, so everything is native. The plans are closer to winter to change the engine to a contract one. But with all this, the Toyota Mark II accelerates very well, of course not so vigorously from the spot (after all, the mass of 1600 kg) makes itself felt, but if, say, you drive 80 kilometers and abruptly press the pedal to the floor, it is already breathtaking ... A friend of VW B5 1.8T, says even he does not undermine this. In general, I will say that JZ is a good engine. Morozov did not find much, so I cannot say about the operation in winter. Regarding fuel consumption, I can say the following: in the summer I drive slowly (there is nowhere constant traffic jams in Moscow), smoothly accelerating 60-80 km / h, consumption of 13-14 liters (alternating between 95th and 98th gasoline), plus it's still four-wheel drive. Track: from 8 to 10 liters, speed from 100 to 140 km / h. In winter, with warming up, you can safely add 5 liters, and so I can tell who drives how.

Advantages : soft chassis. Powerful motor. Comfortable salon.

disadvantages : no special.

The seventh generation of the Toyota Mark II sedan, which received the in-plant marking "X90", celebrated its premiere in September 1992 and instantly gained popularity in its homeland, and in the early 2000s it became a truly "popular hit" in the eastern part of Russia. Compared to its predecessor, the car has not only noticeably changed in appearance, but also became larger, acquired new equipment and updated in technical terms. The three-volume machine stood on the conveyor until 1996, after which it gave way to a follower.

Despite its decent size, the outwardly Toyota Mark II of the seventh generation looks quite sporty and at the same time demonstrates some solidity - a squat and slightly aggressive front end, a rather dynamic silhouette with a long hood and an extended trunk, a monumental stern with a massive bumper and a narrow "strip" of lamps ...

The overall length of the hardtop sedan is 4750 mm, and it has 1750 mm and 1390 mm in width and height, respectively. A 2730-mm gap fits between the axles of the car, and under the "belly" you can see a clearance of 155 mm. In "combat" form, the four-door weighs from 1250 to 1460 kg, depending on the version.

Even by modern standards, the interior of the "seventh" Toyota Mark II looks good, although it does not shine with special design solutions. A comfortable four-spoke steering wheel, a simple "toolbox" that provides the basic minimum of information, and a center console tapering to the bottom, on which the main controls are successfully arranged - the inside of the car is unremarkable, but exudes quality.

There is enough free space in the cabin of the Japanese sedan for four adult riders - the third passenger in the back will be clearly superfluous due to the high floor tunnel and the profile of the sofa. The front seats "flaunt" a wide range of adjustments, but have an unnecessarily flat layout with poor support on the sides.

In the arsenal of the seventh "release" Toyota Mark II there is a spacious luggage compartment, but all the advantages of a solid volume are interrupted by a narrow opening and a large loading height, which does not bring convenience from its use.

Specifications. For the seventh generation Mark 2, a wide range of power plants was offered - five petrol and one diesel. The engines were combined with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, driving rear wheels (on "top" versions with limited slip differential) or a FullTime 4WD all-wheel drive system with a hydromechanical locking clutch and an asymmetrical center differential.

  • The gasoline part of the car is formed by in-line four- and six-cylinder engines with a distributed fuel supply, both atmospheric and turbocharged. The first includes units with a volume of 1.8-3.0 liters, developing from 120 to 220 horsepower and from 161 to 279 Nm of torque, and the second - a 2.5-liter "six", the return of which reaches 280 "heads" and 362 Nm of maximum potential.
  • Diesel "team" Toyota Mark II is represented by one engine - "four" volume of 2.4 liters with turbocharging and multipoint injection, generating 97 horsepower and 220 Nm of maximum thrust.

Fuel efficiency is definitely not a weak point of this Japanese sedan: petrol versions consume an average of 7 to 12.1 liters of fuel in combined conditions for every “hundred”. Yes, and diesel cars with gluttony are in complete order - they take no more than 5 liters of "diesel fuel" in the combined cycle on the 100th way.

"Seventh" Mark II is designed according to the classic scheme - a longitudinally located front engine and rear-wheel drive (only a 180-horsepower gasoline "six" was equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission).
On the front axle of the car, an independent architecture with double levers is applied, and in the rear part there is a multi-link suspension (anti-roll bars are involved "in a circle").
The sedan's braking system includes all-wheel disc brakes (ventilated at the front) and ABS, and its steering system combines a rack and pinion mechanism and a hydraulic power steering.

The car combines a reliable design, a spacious interior, a good level of comfort, excellent dynamics (especially in the "top" solutions), decent maneuverability and high potential for tuning.
But it also has disadvantages - weak light from frontal optics, low geometric cross-country ability and high cost of original spare parts.

Prices. In the secondary market of Russia, Toyota Mark II and in 2016 enjoy a decent popularity - cars are available at a price of 70,000 rubles, and the cost of some "pumped-over" modifications reaches up to 1 million rubles.

The official debut of the Japanese Toyota Mark II sedan of the eighth generation with the index "X100" took place in the fall of 1996, and in the spring of 1997 a cargo-passenger version with the prefix "Wagon Qualis" was revealed to the world (although, in fact, it had practically nothing to do with a three-box, and was based on the front-wheel drive platform "Camry"). In 1998, the car underwent a slight restyling, which slightly affected design and functionality, and was produced until the fall of 2000.

The three-box body of the Toyota Mark II of the eighth incarnation demonstrates well-tailored proportions, while nothing special does not catch the eye. However, it is distinguished from the general stream of cars by its monumentality, emphasized by wide and narrow lighting equipment, a squat silhouette and a powerful stern. Well, a bit of sportiness in the appearance of the car is extolled by a long sloping hood and doors without frames.

The mid-size sedan has the following external dimensions: 4760 mm in length, 1755 mm in width and 1400 mm in height. The wheelbase of the "Japanese" is 2730 mm, and the ground clearance "under load" does not exceed 155 mm. The "travel" weight of the "Mark 2 X100", depending on the version, varies from 1330 to 1490 kg.

One thing can be said about the interior of the "eighth" Toyota Mark II: the interior is unremarkable, but well thought out in terms of ergonomics and made at a high level. Behind the four-spoke "bagel" of the steering wheel is an archaic and visual instrument cluster, and the "wooden" center console is decorated with a pair of ventilation deflectors and control units for "music" and "climate".

The three-volume cabin is spacious, especially in the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear sofa - there is plenty of space for three adult passengers. The front seats have well-developed sidewalls and sufficient adjustment ranges, albeit mechanical.

For the carriage of baggage, the Toyota Mark II of the eighth generation has a spacious cargo compartment, but its shape leaves much to be desired, as well as a large loading height (as for the volume, there are no official data on this).

Specifications. One of the features of the four-door is a varied choice of power plants, which are available in conjunction with a "mechanics" for five gears or a 4-band "automatic". Most versions are equipped with rear-wheel drive (the most powerful of them with an LSD limited slip differential), and for some modifications, a FullTime 4WD all-wheel drive transmission with an asymmetric differential is provided.

  • Under the hood of gasoline "Mark 2" you can find only six-cylinder units with an in-line configuration, 24-valve timing and distributed fuel injection. Atmospheric variants with a working volume of 2.0-3.0 liters generate from 140 to 220 horsepower and from 171 to 94 Nm of torque, and a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine has 280 "mares" and 377 Nm of peak thrust in its arsenal. With such "hearts" the car costs 8.3-10.5 liters of fuel per 100 km of run in mixed driving mode.
  • The diesel plant for the sedan is provided with one - a four-cylinder 2.4-liter engine with multi-point power supply, 16-valve timing and turbocharging, producing 97 "horses" and 220 Nm of potential potential. Each combined "hundred" of such a machine requires only about 5 liters of fuel.

At the heart of the eighth "release" Toyota Mark II is a platform with a monocoque body and a longitudinally based engine in the front. "In a circle" the car uses an independent chassis with coil springs and lateral stabilizers - a double-wishbone structure in front and a "multi-link" at the rear.
On the "charged" versions of the three-volume, a sports chassis is used, and on the expensive trim levels - the TEMS adjustable suspension with several levels of shock absorber stiffness.
Management on the "Japanese" is in charge of a rack and pinion steering mechanism with hydraulic booster, and deceleration - four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated in front) with ABS.

Most often, the owners refer to the advantages of the car: reliability, unpretentiousness, good driving characteristics, rich equipment, ample opportunities for tuning, high-quality assembly and a high level of comfort.
But it is not without its drawbacks - outdated design, steering wheel on the right side and decent fuel consumption.

Prices. In the spring of 2016, the "eighth" Toyota Mark II in the secondary market of Russia is sold at a price of 120,000 rubles, and individual copies of the sedan cost more than 1 million rubles (but these, as a rule, are far from "stock" cars).
