Nissan Terrano: reviews, price, specifications. Nissan Terrano - description of the model Technical features of Nissan Terrano I

The mid-size SUV Nissan Terrano II was introduced by the Japanese company in 1993, at the same time serial production of the new product began at the Spanish Nissan plant. In 1999, the car underwent the first restyling, as a result of which it acquired a corrected appearance and a changed interior, and in 2002 another update took place. On the assembly line "Terrano" held out until 2006, after which he retired.

The appearance of the Japanese SUV is dominated by strict lines and rough shapes, but it is precisely these angularity and rectangularity that reflect the off-road character of the car. The most noticeable design element is the elegantly elaborate sill line, which begins to rise up in the center of the rear doors.

The external body dimensions of the Nissan Terrano II depend on the body modification, of which there were two - with three or five doors. The total length of the vehicle is 4185-4665 mm, the height is 1830-1850 mm, the width is 1755 mm, and the wheelbase is from 2450 to 2650 mm. The ground clearance does not depend on the number of doors - 210 mm.

Inside, the Nissan Terrano II has a welcoming and welcoming atmosphere. The instrument cluster with a simple design is intuitively simple and informative, the front panel with rounded shapes looks pretty nice, and the center console acts as a haven for the radio and archaic climate control unit. The interior of the SUV is made of inexpensive but solid finishing materials, which are brought together due to the high level of performance.

At the front, the Japanese "rogue" has seats with a comfortable shape, distinct lateral support and proper adjustment ranges. Passengers of the second row in the five-door version are offered a sufficient supply of space on all fronts, but those sitting in the "gallery" will have to make room.
The short-wheelbase version lags behind in this regard - the amount of legroom for the rear sofa riders is limited.

Depending on the modification, the luggage compartment capacity of the Nissan Terrano II is 115/1900 liters or 335/1610 liters, but everyone, without exception, rely on the optimal shape.

For the Nissan Terrano II, three power units were offered:

  • The base is a 2.4-liter petrol "four", generating 118 horsepower and 191 Nm of torque. In partnership with him, a 5-speed "mechanics" and an all-wheel drive transmission work (in normal modes, the SUV is rear-wheel drive, but at speeds up to 40 km / h the front axle can be activated).
  • It is followed by two turbo diesel four-cylinder engines of 2.7 and 3.0 liters, the output of which is 125 and 154 "horses" (278 and 304 Nm of thrust, respectively). A bundle with each of them could form both a manual gearbox and a 4-band automatic gearbox in conjunction with all-wheel drive.

Depending on the modification, Nissan Terrano II accelerates to the first hundred in 13-17.4 seconds, its top speed is fixed at 155-170 km / h, and the average fuel consumption varies from 8.8 to 11.1 liters in a combined driving cycle.

The structural frame of the Terrano II is based on a supporting frame. The front suspension on the SUV is independent with a double wishbone structure and torsion bars as elastic elements, and the rear suspension is dependent with a continuous axle on springs, a Panhard rod and four levers. The "pinion-rack" steering system is supplemented with a hydraulic booster. The car is equipped with disc brakes on the front axle and drum brakes on the rear.

Prices. At the beginning of 2015, Nissan Terrano II can be bought in the secondary market in Russia at a price of 300,000 to 450,000 rubles.

The advantages of the car are a reliable frame structure, high off-road potential, high-torque engines, a spacious interior, excellent maintainability and low-cost maintenance.
There are also disadvantages - poor sound insulation, poor dynamic performance, high fuel consumption and stiff suspension.

The Nissan Terrano is a mid-size SUV from Nissan, produced in two generations for the European and Japanese markets from 1986 to 2006.

Confusion often arises due to the use of the same name for different car models in the markets of different countries. This is exactly what happened with the Terrano, Nissan's SUV. The model was discontinued in 2006 according to the European classification and replaced by the Pathfinder model, but the Pathfinder name has been applied since the mid-80s, including the car that Europeans used to call the first generation Terrano.

If we discard these difficulties and accept the European classification, then it should be assumed that the SUV was produced in generations from 1986 to 2006.

The first Nissan Terrano in the back of the WD21 appeared in 1986. The assembly was carried out simultaneously in Japan, at the Nissan plant in the Kyushu region, and in America, where it is known as the Nissan Pathfinder. The SUV, as is often the case with similar cars from other firms, was launched in a three-door version, and the five-door appeared only in 1990.

The three-door model initially had a fairly long base, so the five-door modification does not differ in length from it. This circumstance was not accidental, since it was originally planned to mount both passenger and cargo-passenger pickup-type bodies with a carrying capacity of up to one tonne on the basis of a frame that is uniform for all models. Pickups based on the Terrano W21 can be either two-seater or four-seater and have different names - Datsun or Nissan Pickup, depending on the country in which they were originally sold. Both SUVs and pickups were produced with a 4x2 or 4x4 wheel arrangement.

The first restyling of the model was made in 1990, when a five-door modification appeared. Changes affected the radiator grille, in addition, there were some changes in the interior. Cars produced after 1993 have a brake light repeater behind the glass of the rear tailgate, and cars since 1994 have a new, more modern curved front panel.

Technical features of the Nissan Terrano I

The five-seater Terrano rests on a heavy-duty, high-strength steel ladder frame, giving the off-road vehicle a high level of body rigidity, which often has to bend. The first-generation Terrano frames are so durable that examples that have escaped corrosion, even those produced in the late eighties, have easily survived to this day without losing performance. Among the jeepers, the model is not without reason reputed to be "unkillable". Unfortunately, corrosion is the scourge of these bodies, and SUVs are often scrapped, since it is too expensive to change the body, although the frame is still intact.

The canonical drive scheme with a two-speed transfer case and a rear differential lock is quite consistent with the orthodox concepts of SUVs.

The front axle is connected using the drive mode selector. It is equipped with separable automatic clutches built into the wheel hubs, so the transition from driving in rear-wheel drive to all-wheel drive does not take long and does not require extra effort from the driver. Known classmate models that are still equipped with manual clutches, for example, UAZ "Patriot". The presence of clutches that allow you to turn off half of the transmission is an extremely important design element, since it is he who saves a lot of fuel.

Suspension in Terrano I is adjustable in stiffness: it can be switched to sport mode, to reduce roll in corners, and to comfort mode, when all the irregularities of the road surface long-travel suspension "swallows".

The interiors of the first production cars are very simple, but ergonomic. The instrument panel is covered with an angular visor. Thanks to the power steering, the steering is obedient, and the stability of the long-wheelbase SUV on the highway allows you to maintain high speed in any weather. However, when cornering, you must remember that you are in a car with a rigid suspension and a center of gravity located high enough.

The car was equipped with two gasoline engines, 2.4 and 3.0 liters, which could be paired with both automatic and manual transmissions. In addition, there was a version with a naturally aspirated TD27 diesel engine.

Nissan Terrano II

To develop the second-generation model, the company hired the famous Italian design studio I.DE.A Institute (Institute of Development in Automotive Engineering), founded in 1978 by Franco Mantegazza.

With this modification, just like with the previous one, marketing confusion arises, albeit of a different kind. The fact is that the car for the European market was produced by a subsidiary of Nissan in Spain called Nissan Motor Ibérica S.A. The cars produced by this factory are known as the Nissan Terrano II. Simultaneously with the sale of the Terrano II under an agreement with Ford Europe, the same car could be bought as a Ford Maverick. Under these two names, the production of the R20 model was launched in 1993 and continued until 2006. In the domestic Japanese market, the same SUV was sold under the Nissan Mistral name, which only adds to the confusion. Thirteen years with little or no change is a very long life for a modern car.

Technical features of the Nissan Terrano II

The car differed from its predecessor, in fact, with a body and a new interior. The Terrano II cabin is definitely a big step forward in terms of comfort. The front panel is no different in layout and appearance from the consumer-class sedans of the same Ford - Mondeo or Taurus, forcing the driver to forget that he is in the "cabin" of a light truck.

A characteristic feature of the first generation Terrano five-door design is the absence of traditional handles for opening the rear doors. According to the concept, the five-door should not be as different from the three-door as possible. This feature of the handles is retained on the modern Pathfinder model, which is closest to the Terrano in design and performance.

Russian craftsmen have implanted a VG30DETT engine with a capacity of about 300 horsepower from the Nissan Fairlady Z32 sports model in the Nissan Terrano. The project was completed, the engine with two turbines started up safely. Videos from the interior of this car, nicknamed "Feirano", can be found on the Internet.

Nissan Terrano is a cross-country vehicle produced with a 3 or 5-door body.

The first generation Nissan Terrano (WD21) was demonstrated in 1986. It was collected in Japan and also in America (like the Nissan Pathfinder). Initially, only a 3-door version was produced, later in 1990 the 5-door Terrano-I rolled off the assembly line.

Nissan Terrano was equipped with various power units. Z24 - four-cylinder petrol 2.4-liter 103-horsepower engine (1987-1992). Since 1988, the VG30 gasoline 3-liter 6-cylinder power unit has been produced. Its power was equal to 130 "horses". Less popular was the 2.7-liter, 99-horsepower TD27T engine.

Nissan Terrano was equipped with a part-time all-wheel drive transmission. In normal mode, the car is rear-wheel drive, if necessary, the front wheels are connected. Only a manual five-speed gearbox acts as a transmission. Some versions had a four-speed automatic transmission. Gasoline consumption in the city was 16 liters per hundred.

The brake system is 2-circuit, equipped with a vacuum booster. Front brakes - ventilated disc, rear - drum or ventilated disc. The reliability and efficiency of the entire braking system is quite high.

The second generation Nissan Terrano was released in 1993. The novelty was developed jointly with the Ford concern.

Initially, a version equipped with a short base (2.45 m) and a 3-door body with dimensions of 4105x1735x1800 mm came off the assembly line. Later, a five-door version began to be produced, which was lengthened to 2.65 meters with dimensions of 4585x1733x1810 mm. The disadvantage of the second generation Nissan Terrano in the 3-door version is a small luggage compartment with a volume of 425 liters and an uncomfortable landing in the back seat. The 5-door station wagon is devoid of these drawbacks - the trunk volume is 1900 liters, some versions have a third row of seats.

Nissan Terrano II 1993-1995 equipped with only 2 variants of a four-cylinder in-line engine. The first is a 2.7-liter 99-horsepower turbo diesel, the second is a 12-valve 2.4-liter 124-horsepower injection gasoline engine. Until 1995, the second generation Terrano was equipped with only a mechanical 5-speed transmission.

In the summer of 1996, the car was modernized. A 2.7-liter turbo diesel was equipped with electronic injection and intercooled air, due to which the engine's power increased to 125 "horses". The petrol 2.4-liter unit on the 3-door version has a capacity of 116 hp, on the 5-door - 118.

In 1999, an improved Nissan Terrano model was demonstrated.

From this year, the Nissan Terrano II is equipped with an automatic transmission. The model is offered with either a 4-cylinder petrol 116 hp engine or a 4-cylinder 125 hp turbo diesel engine.

In 2002, Terrano II underwent another modernization. The updated exterior and interior, the powerful 3-liter turbo diesel with direct injection and the best safety package make the Nissan Terrano the ideal multi-functional SUV for families with an active lifestyle.

The appearance of a new 3-liter power unit along with the existing 2.7-liter turbo diesel and 2.4-liter petrol engine significantly improves the position of Nissan in the class of cars with all-wheel drive. The entire powertrain lineup is available for both 3-door and 5-door versions.

The suspension of the updated Nissan Terrano is adapted for a three-liter power unit, taking into account off-road driving. Thanks to the improved transmission, the mode can be selected at any speed. Side airbags with a volume of fourteen liters are standard on Elegance and Luxury. The seat belts have pretensioners that act simultaneously with the front airbags.

In the spring of 2004, a restyled version of the SUV - Nissan Terrano II 2004 - appeared in the Russian Federation. The exterior and interior of the car were changed. The Terrano is now equipped with seventeen-inch alloy wheels. There are 3 new colors: Roma Red (red), Tickford Green (green) and Techno Gray (gray).

The new interior of the Nissan Terrano II 2004 is executed in dark gray tone. The Luxury version is equipped with a titanium-like center console, while the Elegance version can be equipped with black perforated leather seats. And also both configurations in long-wheelbase modifications are equipped with folding tables for rear passengers.

History Nissan terrano (Nissan Terrano):

Nissan Terrano a V off-road vehicle with a three- or five-door body.

The first generation of compact SUVs Nissan terrano in the back of the WD21 debuted in August 1986. It was collected both in Japan and in America (under the name Nissan Pathfinder). Initially, only a three-door version was offered, and it was not until 1990 that the five-door Terrano-I went on sale.

One of the distinguishing features of the first Terrano is that the lengths of the three and five doors are the same (2650 mm), which is why the three and five door models are technically completely identical. The three-door station wagon was partially unified with the 1.0-ton Navara pickup trucks with a king-size four-seater and six-seater twin cabs. A conventional pickup (with a 4x2 or 4x4 wheel arrangement) with a single three-seater cab differed in the shape of the front fenders and the hood. In the five-door version, the rear door handles were very peculiarly camouflaged at the top of the C-pillars. The body and frame structure was developed taking into account the requirements of passive safety. A five-seater all-wheel drive V car on a powerful spar frame, characterized by high strength and good corrosion resistance, with a two-stage transfer case and a rear differential lock, fully meets modern concepts of SUVs. The front axle connects with a delay, but is equipped with disconnectable automatic clutches built into the wheel hubs, so the transition to the rear-wheel drive road state does not take much time and saves quite a lot of fuel. The suspension has two levels of rigidity: sporty, when the body rolls less in corners, and comfortable, when the long-travel suspension does not seem to notice all the irregularities of the road surface.

The interior design is simple, but quite ergonomic. The instrument panel is in a rectangular style typical for the 'Japanese' of the mid-1980s, with a small casing above the middle part of the panel, combining the transverse and longitudinal inclinometers and an altimeter completely useless on flat terrain. All instruments are clearly visible, and all levers (including the 'transfer case' control lever) are easily accessible. However, the driver's seating position, despite numerous adjustments, is far from optimal, since the pedals are too high and the tall driver simply has nowhere to put his feet, and even adjusting the column helps a little. Interior ventilation is also far from optimal. But the power steering is very light, and the stability on the highway is quite sufficient for driving in any weather at high speed. And yet, it is not worth overestimating the capabilities of a V car in this regard, since the center of gravity is quite high due to the frame structure. On Nissan terrano/ Pathfinder, depending on the performance, put both narrow and wide wheels, which greatly affects the handling. The luggage compartment volume from 425 to 1550 liters is enough for transporting bulky items. On Terrano with injection engines, it is possible to self-diagnose all injection systems and sensors. This is very convenient because you can make a qualified diagnosis to your car without any computers at service stations. A diagnostic unit is installed under the front passenger seat, on which all fault codes are displayed using two LEDs. It remains only with the help of a special table to determine which element or sensor is sick.

At various times, starting in 1986, the Nissan Terrano was equipped with various engines. Z24 petrol 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 2.4 liters and 103 hp. with a timing chain drive and two spark plugs per cylinder was produced from 1987 to 1992. Models with single injection went to the European market (while in the markets of third countries and in the USA, there were also carburetor versions with a slightly modified ignition system). Since the 88th year, the production (which subsequently gained the greatest popularity) began to be produced, a 3.0-liter gasoline six-cylinder engine with a VG30 timing belt drive. The power of the single-injection engine was 130 hp. Distributed injection (since 90) has added another 18 hp to this figure. The engine with a turbocharger TD27T with a volume of 2.7 liters and a power of 99 hp is somewhat less widespread. This is a very reliable and modern engine, however, requiring (like all diesel engines) high-quality and timely maintenance. For the market of third countries and Japan, its non-turbocharged version TD27 was produced.

Terrano is equipped with a part-time all-wheel drive transmission. The main drive is rear, and if necessary, the front axle is connected. In the rear axle, most cars have an LSD limited slip differential, which slightly increases cross-country ability in difficult road conditions. The transfer case is two-stage, driven by a chain drive. The manual transmission is only 5-speed. Some of the cars were equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Fuel consumption in real urban operation with a gasoline engine is about 16 l / 100 km.

The brake system is dual-circuit with a vacuum booster. Front ventilated disc brakes, but the rear options are possible: either drum or ventilated disc brakes (not common). The efficiency and reliability of the entire braking system is high.

In 1993, the Terrano II debuted. The new model is a joint development with Ford, created by the Nissan Technology Center in Barcelona (Spain), as well as its twin Ford Maverick. They belonged to the class of compact SUVs fashionable in the early 90s, only the Terrano II was designed for Europe. The design of the a V car was developed by the Belgian stylist Alain Blonet.

At first, a model with a short base (2450 mm) and a 3-door body (4105x1735x1800 mm) appeared on the market. Later, a 5-door version appeared, extended up to 2650 mm in base with overall dimensions of 4585x1733x1810 mm. The disadvantages of the Nissan Terrano 2 in the three-door version include a small trunk of only 425 liters and an uncomfortable fit in the back seat. The five-door station wagon of these disadvantages lacks a trunk, increased to 1900 liters, and on some versions a third row of seats was installed in it.

The Terrano II, with its tightly packed yet neat design, has a galvanized body. The traditional frame structure gives it high strength and body rigidity. The body is mounted on the chassis through rubber mounts that protect the interior from shock and vibration. The high center of gravity causes the body to swing longitudinally at high speeds. This is especially felt on the short wheelbase version. To reduce body sway during fast cornering, anti-roll bars are provided in the front and rear suspension. Winter driving in the Terrano II is easy only when driving in 4x4 mode. On the rear wheel drive, the car is extremely susceptible to drifts, even on a completely flat and harmless section of a snowy road. But as soon as the front axle is connected, everything falls into place.

The Terrano II is a fairly tall car, and this has its advantages: a spacious interior with a high ceiling and a large glass area. The raised tailgate and the spare wheel on the tailgate significantly limit visibility when reversing, especially when parking. The salon is finished with sufficient quality, comfort and ergonomics are at a height. Good sound insulation of the cabin allows you to listen to music without straining at speeds up to 130-140 km / h. The basic equipment of these models is not rich: power steering, central locking, electric mirrors. However, the lack of leather and other electric drives is justified by the low price of the jeep.

The 1993-1995 Terrano II exists with only two inline 4-cylinder powertrain options. The first of them is a 2.7-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 99 hp. and the second gasoline injection 12-valve engine with a volume of 2.4 liters and a capacity of 124 hp. Diesel is more high-torque and more economical, but with a gasoline unit the car is faster, although it has to be spinned up to 4.5-5 thousand revolutions. Until 1995, the Terrano II was equipped with an exclusively mechanical five-speed gearbox. It is famous for its reliability and practically does not break.

In July 1996, a V vehicle underwent modernization. The design of the front end has changed (the boring square headlights were replaced with revolutionary and well-forgotten old round ones), and the bumpers of the changed shape began to be painted in the body color. The 2.7-liter turbocharged diesel received intercooled air and electronic fuel injection, which increased its power from 100 to 125 hp. The 2.4-liter petrol engine on the three-door Terrano develops 116 hp. and on the longer five-door 118 hp. The standard equipment includes a driver's airbag and an electronic anti-theft device. ABS as an option.

In 1999 a new and improved model was presented in Frankfurt. The front end of the body has become wider and more powerful thanks to a new radiator grill and a powerful bumper, which are related Nissan terrano with the flagship Nissan Patrol GR. The headlights with improved light indicators are assembled into a single unit (the dipped beam has become 40% wider, and its range has increased by 22%). The rear is lower and wider, with new brake lights and combined taillights. On the casing of the spare wheel hanging on the rear door, characteristic slots have appeared, designed to emphasize the stylistic unity of the front and rear of the car. The car has taken on a more aggressive and serious look. But the recognition of the Terrano II model is provided by the characteristic, with a smooth step, rise of the lower border of the side windows. Because of this, the car seems taller and it seems that the rear passengers are very reliably protected by a steel shell. The side windows of the Terrano II are now covered with a so-called hydrophobic coating, which reduces contact with water droplets. The droplets become smaller, so that the glass remains completely transparent during rain.

The power structure of the Terrano II is based on a supporting frame. The suspension of the Terrano II is very short-travel for an SUV and is therefore rigidly adjusted, which, when passing serious irregularities (like a railway crossing), responds with a blow to the body. New gas-filled shock absorbers appeared, which had a positive effect on comfort, and the tires of the previous dimension 235/75 R15 gave way to 16-inch tires: 235/70 R16. In normal transport mode Nissan terrano II and V rear-wheel drive car. If you pull the transfer lever towards you, the front axle will turn on (this operation is recommended to be performed at a speed not exceeding 40 km / h).

The interior design has been completely updated. The center console has slightly changed. The new instrument cluster is simple, the readings of the main instruments are perceived perfectly, and minor details do not distract attention. The liquid crystal display located above the fuel and coolant sensors, in addition to being the odometer and the clock, gives the driver information about the temperature overboard. The trim levels got their own names: Elegance, Luxury, Sport and Comfort. Comfort is the most modest grade, while Elegance is the luxury grade. Equipment installed includes a six-speaker audio system.

Since 1999 on Nissan terrano II, an automatic transmission is also installed. As before, the model is offered with either a 116-horsepower four-cylinder petrol engine or a 125-horsepower four-cylinder turbodiesel. from. In Europe, diesel Terrano II are more favored (moreover, only diesel cars can be equipped with automatic transmissions). Nissan Terrano II, winner of the 1999 Grenada-Dakkar Rally in the DI diesel class.

Safety is achieved through improved braking performance. The ABS system has been improved with non-lockable brakes specially designed for off-road conditions. In addition to the four sensors on the wheels, there is a special sensor that monitors the deceleration rate on high or low grip surfaces (ice or snow) and switches off at speeds below 8 km / h. In addition to increasing the diameter of the rear brake discs, the Terrano II now uses an electronic brake force distribution system (EBD, Electronic Brake Distribution), which ultimately made it possible to reduce the braking distance by 8.2 m when stopping from 100 km / h.

In the spring of 2002, another modernization of the Terrano II took place. Updated exterior and interior, powerful 3.0 liter direct injection turbodiesel engine. The well-proven Nissan Patrol GR and class-leading safety suite make the Terrano the ideal multi-functional SUV for active families.

The updated appearance of the A V vehicle emphasizes the aggressive character of this SUV. The main change to the exterior is a new bonnet design with a clearly defined intercooling intake, specially designed for the larger 3.0L engine. This design emphasizes, on the one hand, the personality of the Terrano, and on the other hand, reflects the style of the entire class of SUVs in the Nissan family. The radiator grille is combined with the headlamp unit, which creates an individual appearance of a V car. The new 16-inch 6-spoke alloy wheels, combined with the practical rigid spare wheel guard available on most trim levels, add even more personality to the design of the new Terrano. The color gamut has been significantly expanded with four new body paint options.

The redesigned interior includes new door panels, a redesigned dashboard and console, and redesigned seats. Thanks to new materials, the appearance of the center console and instrument panel has been changed. The dashboard is made taking into account the latest design developments, all control devices are located within 30 degrees of the driver's line of sight, which makes it easy to keep them in sight. The driver and front passenger will surely appreciate the benefits of the new seat shape, which has a 25mm longer front cushion and a redesigned backrest for a more comfortable ride. For increased comfort, the seats and doors in all trim levels from Sport to Elegance have received high-strength upholstery materials. The high position of the driver's seat provides excellent visibility. All door switches have been updated for maximum ease of use. Another practical improvement appeared in the rear of the V car, the luggage compartment is now covered by an easily removable shelf made of a fairly rigid material, on which a load weighing up to 5 kg can be placed. To reduce the penetration of ultraviolet rays into the interior, a special coating is applied to all glasses. It also helps to keep the cabin cool, even in hot weather. In addition, the air conditioning system has been improved to maintain the optimum temperature in the cabin. Depending on the equipment of a V car, in addition to the audio system with 6 speakers, a CD player can be located on the center console. The latest version of Nissan's anti-theft system is combined with an anti-hijack system (when you press the remote control button for the door locks for the first time, only the driver's door opens, and when you press all the other doors again). After the key is inserted into the ignition lock, the unique codes of the key and the immobilizer are checked for their correspondence, only after that the engine can be started.

The appearance of a new 3.0 liter engine. along with the already existing 2.7 liter turbodiesel engine. and a 2.4 liter gasoline engine. significantly improves the position of Nissan in the class of all-wheel drive and V vehicles. The entire range of engines will be available for both 3-door and 5-door models. The ZD30 is a new generation of direct injection engines with a double overhead camshaft and 16 valves. This engine design, combined with the unique M-Fire (Controlled Combustion) combustion technology, results in improved efficiency and increased power. On a V cars with a 3.0 liter turbodiesel engine, a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission is installed, which has a torque converter lock in top gear for greater fuel economy during long trips.

The suspension of the new Terrano is adapted to the 3.0 liter engine, taking into account off-road driving. Thanks to the improved transmission, mode selection can be made at any speed. To enhance its off-road performance, the Terrano is equipped with a limited slip differential, which ensures movement even in the event of a diagonal suspension. In addition to the already familiar active safety features such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution), the Terrano offers side airbags for the first time in its class in combination with active head restraints to provide passengers with the highest level of safety. In the event of an impact, the head restraints move forward and upward to reduce the risk of cervical injury. 14-liter side airbags are standard on Luxury and Elegance, and are optional for other trim levels. The seat belts are equipped with pretensioners that deploy simultaneously with the front airbags. Together with the belt reel, the pretensioner provides additional retraction of the belt strap, supporting the body of the driver or passenger in the event of a frontal collision.

In April 2004, a restyled modification of the 2004 SUV appeared in Russia Nissan terrano II. The changes affected the exterior and interior of the car. Now a V car is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels. There are three new exterior colors (Roma Red, Tickford Green and Techno Gray).

The new interior of the 2004 Nissan Terrano II is finished in dark gray. The Luxury version has a titanium-look center console, while the Elegance version now offers seats in black perforated leather. In addition, folding tables for the rear passengers are installed on both trim levels in the long wheelbase versions.

The instrument panel is in a rectangular style typical for the "Japanese" of the mid-1980s, a small casing rises above the middle part of the panel, combining the transverse and longitudinal inclinometers and an altimeter that is completely useless on flat terrain. All devices are clearly visible, and all levers (including the "transfer case" control lever) are easily accessible. However, the driver's seating position, despite numerous adjustments, is far from optimal, since the pedals are too high and the tall driver simply has nowhere to put his feet, and even the column adjustment does not help much. Interior ventilation is also far from optimal. But the power steering is very light, and the stability on the highway is quite sufficient for driving in any weather at high speed. And yet, it is not worth overestimating the capabilities of the car in this regard, since the center of gravity is quite high due to the frame structure. On Terrano/ Pathfinder, depending on the performance, put both narrow and wide wheels, which greatly affects the handling. The luggage compartment volume from 425 to 1550 liters is enough for transporting bulky items. On Terrano with injection engines, it is possible to independently diagnose all injection systems and sensors. This is very convenient because you can make a qualified diagnosis of your car without any computers at service stations. A diagnostic unit is installed under the front passenger seat, on which all fault codes are displayed using two LEDs. It remains only with the help of a special table to determine which element or sensor is sick.

At various times, since 1986, Terrano was completed with various engines. Z24 - a 2.4-liter gasoline 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 103 hp, with a timing chain drive and two spark plugs per cylinder - was produced from 1987 to 1992. Models with single injection went to the European market (while in the markets of third countries and in the USA there were also carburetor versions with a slightly modified ignition system). Since the 88th year, the production (which subsequently gained the greatest popularity) began to be produced, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine with a timing belt drive -VG30. The power of the single injection engine was 130 hp.

Terrano complete with all-wheel drive part-time transmission. The main drive is rear, and if necessary, the front axle is connected. In the rear axle, most cars have a limited slip differential - LSD, which in difficult road conditions somewhat increases the cross-country ability.

In 1993 he made his debut Terrano II. The new model is a joint development with Ford, created by the technology center in Barcelona (Spain), as well as its twin Ford Maverick. They belonged to the class of compact SUVs fashionable in the early 90s, only Terrano II was designed for Europe. The car was designed by Belgian stylist Alain Blonet.

The five-door station wagon is devoid of these drawbacks - the trunk has increased to 1900 liters, and on some versions a third row of seats was installed in it.

Model Terrano II, with its tightly knit yet neat design, has a galvanized body. Winter riding on Terrano II is only a hassle when driving in 4x4 mode. On the rear wheel drive, the car is extremely susceptible to drifts, even on a completely flat and harmless section of a snowy road. But as soon as the front axle is connected, everything falls into place.

Terrano II is a rather tall car, and this has its advantages: a spacious interior with a high ceiling and a large glass area.

Terrano II 1993-1995 years of release, there are only two variants of the inline 4-cylinder power unit. The first of them is a 2.7-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 99 hp, and the second is a 2.4-liter 12-valve gasoline injection engine with a capacity of 124 hp. Diesel is more high-torque and more economical, but with a gasoline unit the car is faster, although it has to be spinned up to 4.5-5 thousand revolutions. On Terrano II, until 1995, an exclusively mechanical five-speed gearbox was installed. It is famous for its reliability and practically does not break.

In July 1996, the car was upgraded. The design of the front end changed (the boring square headlights were replaced with revolutionary and well-forgotten old round ones), and the bumpers of the changed shape began to be painted to match the body color. The 2.7-liter turbocharged diesel received intercooled air and electronic fuel injection, which increased its output from 100 to 125 hp. 2.4-liter petrol engine on three-door Terrano develops power of 116 hp, and on the longer five-door - 118 hp. The standard equipment includes a driver's airbag and an electronic anti-theft device. ABS as an option.

In 1999 a new improved model was presented in Frankfurt. The front end of the body has become wider and more powerful thanks to a new radiator grille and a powerful bumper, which are related Terrano with the flagship Patrol GR. The headlights with improved light indicators are assembled into a single unit (the dipped beam has become 40% wider, and its "range" has increased by 22%). The rear is lower and wider, with new brake lights and combined taillights. On the casing of the spare wheel hanging on the rear door, characteristic slots appeared, designed to emphasize the stylistic unity of the front and rear parts of the car. The car has taken on a more aggressive and serious look. But the recognition of the model Terrano II provides a characteristic, with a smooth step, rise of the lower border of the side windows. Because of this, the car seems taller and it seems that the rear passengers are very reliably protected by a steel shell. On side windows Terrano II, a so-called hydrophobic coating is now applied, which reduces the contact spot with water droplets. The droplets become smaller, so that the glass remains completely transparent during rain.

At the heart of the power structure Terrano II - supporting frame. Suspension Terrano II is very short-travel for an SUV and is therefore rigidly adjusted, which, when passing serious irregularities (like a railway crossing), responds with a blow to the body. New gas-filled shock absorbers appeared, which had a positive effect on comfort, and the tires of the previous dimension 235/75 R15 gave way to 16-inch tires: 235/70 R16. In normal, "transport" mode Terrano II - rear-wheel drive car. If you pull the "distributing" lever towards you, the front axle will turn on (this operation is recommended to be performed at a speed of no more than 40 km / h).

Since 1999 on Terrano II, an automatic transmission is also installed. As before, the model is offered with either a 116-horsepower four-cylinder petrol engine or a 125-horsepower four-cylinder turbodiesel. from. Diesel engines are preferred in Europe Terrano II (besides, only diesel cars can be equipped with automatic transmissions). Car Terrano II - Winner of the 1999 Grenada-Dakkar Rally in the DI diesel class.

Safety is achieved through improved braking performance. The ABS system has been improved with non-lockable brakes designed specifically for off-road conditions. In addition to the four sensors on the wheels, there is a special sensor that monitors the deceleration rate on surfaces with high or low grip (ice or snow) and switches off at speeds below 8 km / h. In addition to increasing the diameter of the rear brake discs, now on Terrano II, an electronic brake force distribution system (EBD, Electronic Brake Distribution) is used, which ultimately made it possible to reduce the braking distance by 8.2 m when stopping from 100 km / h.

In the spring of 2002, another modernization took place Terrano II. The updated exterior and interior, the powerful 3.0 L direct injection turbodiesel engine proven on the Patrol GR and the best-in-class safety package make Terrano the ideal multi-functional SUV for active families.

The updated exterior of the vehicle underlines the aggressive character of this SUV. The main change in appearance is a new bonnet design with a clearly defined intercooling air intake, specially designed for the larger 3.0L engine. This design emphasizes individuality on the one hand Terranoon the other hand, it reflects the style of the entire class of SUVs of the family. The radiator grille is combined with the headlamp units to create an individual look for the vehicle. The new 16 '' 6-spoke alloy wheels, combined with the practical rigid spare wheel guard available on most trim levels, add even more personality to the design of the new Terrano... The color range has been significantly expanded - four new body paint options have been added.

The redesigned interior features new door panels, redesigned dashboard and console, and redesigned seats. Thanks to new materials, the appearance of the center console and instrument panel has been changed. The dashboard is made with the latest design developments, all control devices are located within 30 degrees of the driver's line of sight, which makes it easy to keep them in sight. Another practical improvement appeared in the rear of the car - the luggage compartment is now covered by an easily removable shelf made of a fairly rigid material, on which a load of up to 5 kg can be placed. To reduce the penetration of ultraviolet rays into the interior of the passenger compartment, a special coating is applied to all glasses. It also helps to keep the cabin cool, even in hot weather. In addition, the air conditioning system has been improved to maintain the optimum temperature in the cabin. Depending on the vehicle equipment, in addition to the 6-speaker audio system, a CD player may be located in the center console. The latest version of the anti-theft system is combined with the anti-hijack system (when you press the remote control button for the door locks for the first time, only the driver's door opens, and when you press it again, all other doors). After the key is inserted into the ignition lock, the unique codes of the key and immobilizer are checked for their correspondence, only after that the engine can be started.

The emergence of a new 3.0 liter engine. along with the already existing 2.7 liter turbodiesel engine. and a 2.4 liter gasoline engine. significantly improves its position in the class of four-wheel drive vehicles. The entire range of engines will be available for both 3-door and 5-door models. The ZD30 is a new generation of direct injection engines with double overhead camshafts and 16 valves. This engine design, combined with the unique M-Fire (Controlled Combustion) combustion technology, results in improved efficiency and increased power. Cars with a 3.0 liter turbodiesel engine are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission, which has a torque converter lock in top gear for greater fuel economy during long trips.

Suspension of the new Terrano adapted for a 3.0 liter engine, taking into account off-road driving. Thanks to the improved transmission, mode selection can be made at any speed. To improve off-road performance Terrano Equipped with limited slip differential, which ensures movement even in the case of diagonal hanging. In addition to the already familiar active safety features such as ABS (anti-lock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake force distribution), Terrano For the first time in its class, it offers side airbags in combination with active head restraints to provide passengers with the highest level of safety. In the event of an impact, the head restraints move forward and upward to reduce the risk of cervical injury. 14-liter side airbags are standard on Luxury and Elegance, and are optional for other trim levels. The seat belts are fitted with pretensioners that deploy simultaneously with the front airbags. Together with the belt reel, the pretensioner provides additional retraction of the belt strap, supporting the body of the driver or passenger in the event of a frontal collision.

In April 2004, a restyled modification of an SUV appeared in Russia - 2004 Terrano II. The changes affected the appearance and interior of the car. Now the car is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels. There are three new exterior colors (Roma Red, Tickford Green and Techno Gray).

New interior 2004 Terrano II is made in dark gray colors. The Luxury version has a titanium-look center console, while the Elegance version now offers seats in black perforated leather. In addition, folding tables for rear passengers are installed on both trim levels in long wheelbase versions.
