PTF switching circuit. Wiring diagram for fog lights via relay

Let's say you have installed fog lights and you need to deal with the connection. I hope we will help in this, there is nothing difficult in this situation.

First of all, you need:

  • minimal knowledge of electrical engineering (find + 12V and mass);
  • tool - knife, nippers, pliers, terminal block;
  • consumables: blue iso-tape, heat shrinkage of suitable diameter, plastic clamps, automobile corrugation, bulk and connecting terminals.

Select the appropriate base materials:

  • 2-core wire 1.5 mm2 - approx. 6m;
  • switch-on relay with connector (ordinary light relay with VAZ 2108) -1 pc;
  • external fuse 30A -1 pc;
  • power button (optional by design, preferably backlit);
  • connectors for tumankas (if not) -2 pcs.

Now that everything is ready, we collect such a scheme
fig 1.

Assembly order

  1. The first step is to make and connect the connectors to the foglights, screw the ground wire (brown in the diagram) through the terminal to the body. Bring the positive one (blue in the diagram) to the battery area (will be connected to the relay, terminal 30).
  2. We fix the relay in a suitable place and connect the wires. Red (87) to the battery via a fuse (you can use a relay with a built-in fuse). nominal 30 A. Black (86) to the body through the terminal (it is possible to the negative of the battery). We put the control wire (green) from terminal 85 into the passenger compartment (drilling of the engine shield is allowed). Pairs of terminals 85-86 and 87-30 are interchangeable.
  3. We install the button in any convenient place, we follow some rules when connecting.

We choose the ability to turn on the foglights with our own hands:

  • autonomous (no matter what is turned on, but there is a chance to completely discharge the battery by accidentally forgetting to turn off the tumanki) we connect to the dimensions or constant + ACC.
  • use only when the ignition is on (there is no way to use the backlight, for example, from the alarm), we take a plus from the ignition switch or look for IGN1, or better IGN2 according to the scheme, device or control lamp. That's it, we check the performance.

A few tips

  • The power button can be used from the rear fog lights.
  • In connections, it is better to use not twists and soldering, but connecting terminals with protective heat shrink
  • It is advisable to pack all non-standard wiring in a corrugation, both more aesthetically pleasing and safer.

According to the new Rules, you need to drive a car during the day as well as at night with light. It is possible with low beam, running lights or fog lights. Today we will consider: how you can connect fog lights to your car. Fog lights are also useful in fog. To save money, you can connect the fog lights yourself. There is nothing difficult in connecting foglights, and anyone can cope with this task!

When installing PTF, it may be useful electrical circuit turning on the main light of the headlights of the car.

1. Headlight block.

2. Fuse and relay panel.

3. Steering column switch.

4. Button for three positions in the car.

5. Ignition lock.

6. Dashboard.

And so, the fog lights were purchased, just the ones that are needed for your car model (motorcycle, etc.). Installed. It remains to make the electrical connection of the PTF.

Fog lights parallel connection diagram

We attach the bulbs with one end to the mass of the car, and twist the other ends and attach the number to the contact 87 our relay.

On 30 the relay contact is supplied plus through the fuse, at least 15 Ampere, plus it is taken to the panel with fuses, it is better closer to the battery.

Now we connect the button for turning on the fog lights with one end to the car body, and the other end to 86 contact of our relay.

Contact 85 the relay goes to plus 12V, which appear when the ignition is turned on. This plus can be found on the fuse panel.

Automatic inclusion of PTF

If you want the tumanki to turn on automatically when the car starts up, then we connect this wire to the control light "charging" in the dashboard. Button "PTF" in the cabin must be turned on.

You're done! Now, when you press the power button, minus is applied to the relay coil - the relay is triggered and thereby closes the contacts 30 and 87 relay and - on our bulbs light up!

Fog lights work!

Economical (sequential) inclusion of PTF

If you use fog lights only for the reason that you should drive during the day with light and are not going to use them in fog. Then two foglights can be connected in series. They, of course, will not "break through" the fog, but during the day it is clear that the car is driving with light.

Thus, we will "kill" three birds with one stone 🙂

  1. Drop in current consumption by 4 times! This means less stress on the generator, relay contacts and wiring. Due to the fact that there is less load on the generator and on the engine as a whole, it is, although a little, but the consumption of fuel consumed will be less.
  2. Since the bulbs shine in the incandescent floor, the lamps will last longer, and also less heating of the fog lights itself and, most importantly, of the glass.
  3. We do not turn on the head light, thereby saving expensive lamps and saving the energy of the car.

Both schemes are suitable for any brand of car, motorcycle, scooter or tractor.

    An article for beginner radio amateurs. It provides examples of checking the main radio components used in electronic equipment (resistors, capacitors, transformers, inductors, chokes, diodes and transistors) using a multimeter or a conventional dial-up ohmmeter.

    Dear soap makers! Before you are going to cook soap "from scratch", you must familiarize yourself with the safety rules when working with alkali!

The complete set of the car is the key to its safe operation. However, some options are not considered basic by car companies, excluding them from basic configuration... Such attributes include fog optics. Car enthusiasts implement it on their own, purchasing the necessary kit separately. For installation in such a case, a fog lamp connection diagram is used through a relay.

Experienced drivers know how sometimes it is problematic to overcome some sections of the route in bad weather. High beam or low beam reflects off moisture particles suspended in the air. The settling fog significantly reduces the level of vision on the way.

Visibility is improved by lowering the height of the light beam. For this, additional lighting devices - fog lights. They are located closer to the asphalt surface, where the density of wet particles is lower, and the beam is able to reach the distant sections of the track.

The advantages of such devices are the following factors:

  • provides a significant improvement in visibility for the driver;
  • a car equipped with fog lights can be seen from a more distant distance;
  • the kit has a relatively low price tag;
  • if necessary, the equipment can be mounted independently.

It is preferable to install fog lights from famous brands or trusted manufacturers to get a guaranteed quality result.

Current requirements for the installation of additional optics

Installation rules fog lights are regulated by the current traffic rules. Also, in this case, GOST 8769-75 must be observed... Otherwise, you can get problems with the traffic police.

Before installation, you should familiarize yourself with the installation standards:

  • the greatest deviation from the side plane of the machine to the edge of the headlight should not exceed 0.4 m;
  • from the bottom of the installed device to the road surface, a gap of at least 25 cm must remain;
  • must be provided with viewing angles at which the optics will not be obstructed: in the vertical plane + 15–10 degrees, in the horizontal plane + 45–10 degrees.

The inclusion of fog lights must be provided simultaneously with the launch side lights.

In construction modern cars most manufacturers provide the ability to install such additional lighting. Special modules in the front of the car are allocated for it. Such areas can be identified by special plugs installed in the area of \u200b\u200bthe front bumper. It is enough to remove each of the plugs to start the installation of lighting devices.

If the manufacturing company has not planned a place for the PTF in the design of the car, then each motorist can independently choose a place for them. In this case, you will need to adhere to the established norms and rules of installation. This is due not only to the observance of the rule of law, which is important, but also to ensure high efficiency of the new headlights.

After you can fully connect the foglights through the relay, it will be important to adjust them with fixation in the established positions. In this case, you will need to achieve correct angles falling luminous flux.

Popular PTF connection options

It is assumed that in different cars one of the connection methods can be applied. One of the most simple methods is a method in which the installed cabling from the car manufacturer company is involved in the work. There are already standard connectors and well-fixed wiring harnesses that supply power, etc. to the headlights to be connected.

It is enough for the motorist to correctly fix the optics through the mounting holes provided by the manufacturer and connect the wires. Such retrofitting is the most popular, fast and affordable even in garage conditions.

When in vehicle there is no cabling for foglights, then you will need to purchase a pre-measured number of insulated cables for the optics kit. It is advisable to take them in multi-colored and with mounting connectors. This will greatly simplify the work. You will also need to stock up on relays and fuses.

It is important not to make mistakes and not to mount PTF on wires intended for side lights, since the factory does not provide for the use of these cables with excess current consumption.

A built-in fuse is a must. He is a rescuer from possible short circuits or from fire. The nominal value is adjusted based on the power value of the new optics.

The calculation method is the following formula:

  • P is the power of one headlamp, W;
  • V is the voltage in the car network, which is usually 12 V;
  • I is the calculated value of the current for the fuse, A.

If you chose headlights of 40 W, then in the end we get the value of the current strength 40 * 2/12 \u003d 6.7 A. In any case, it is preferable to choose fuses with a good margin of 30-50%. Accordingly, you need to put a 10 A plug in the example.

Optimal connection diagram

Simple connection is made via a switch directly from the battery. A pair of contacts is provided from each headlight for connecting the power supply. We remove one of them from each headlight and connect to each other. Next, we are looking for the nearest part of the metal car body, which plays the role of "mass" (minus contact), fix the stripped wire from the headlights on it with a bolt.

It is also possible to sum up the "minus" from the battery, which will be more reliable... With this option, the car owner is subsequently insured against possible body corrosion and poor contact.

The remaining taps from the headlights are connected to the positive wires from the battery. For convenience and to reduce cabling, the second pair from both headlights is also interconnected. Connecting the PTF through the relay and the button assumes the output of the "plus" to the relay marked "87". The subsequent contacts are connected as follows:

  • "30" is output to the fuse, and then to "+" on the battery;
  • "86" is connected to "mass" on the car body or to "-" on the batteries;
  • It is customary to divert "85" to the positive of the battery, interrupting at the switch, which is involved in the contact circuit "30".

If there is no free button on the dashboard, then you will have to mount it in a convenient place. In some cases, drivers place it between the front seats so as not to remove the panel.

A more complex installation option is allowed, which involves connecting cables in the ignition system. When the key is turned, the fog lights will immediately light up, and when the ignition is turned off, everything is turned off. This technique excludes the option in which the driver may forget to turn off the PTF on his own.

A car equipped with fog lights will come in handy for trips in conditions of limited visibility, fog and other adverse weather conditions. Another important step will be the competent installation and adjustment of these external lighting elements. Despite the fact that the fog lights were not installed from the factory in all configurations of the Lada Grant, installing them with your own hands will not be difficult.

How to correctly and safely implement fog lights on your Lada Grant in your lighting system with your own hands and get a tangible result from all this, read below in our material.

Preparatory stage (choice of PTF for Lada Granta)

In order to mount the PTF in the Lada Grant, special installation locations will be required. Fortunately, such standard places are already provided for in the standard bumper from the factory. Their sizes are completely similar and identical with PTF from "Kalina" and have two different types.

The first one is sold under the brand name "Bosch" Ryazan and has a flat glass headlamp unit, and convex headlights are produced under production city \u200b\u200bof Kirzhach. These two types of headlights have the same mounts, so choose which headlights to buy for yourself.

Although, according to Grantovodov, the glasses from Bosch much stronger.

On the left side of the PTF from "Bosch" (LUCH), on the right side "Kirzhach".

If you do not want to "bother" with the installation of "Stock" elements, you can install standard PTFs, since front bumper you can find a place for them too.

First stage of installation

First of all, before installing, prepare workplace to work, check the set of fog lights for integrity and also the set for connecting the PTF for the presence of all wires, relays and fuses. If you have never installed such light elements yourself, then carefully study the car wiring diagram and the PTF connection diagram.

Step-by-step preparation process

Installation of PTF (photo instruction)

As you may have noticed, the bumper of the Lada Grant is a single molded plastic mold, in the body of which there are places for fog lights, hidden by plugs. The next step is to cut out these plugs.

Installation of PTF through a separate button

In order to connect the fog lights to the Lada Granta, you do not need to buy the entire set of wiring, relays and additional parts from scratch.

It is enough just to take a special kit for connecting the PTF for Lada cars of the Kalina / Prior / Grant family. This kit includes all necessary materials, as well as detailed instructions on installation. Yet, as a rule, the most main drawback of this wiring - short wires for the PTF switch button, but they can be lengthened without problems by cutting in the required length of wires.

Everything you need in this set is already present.

Installation should be carried out strictly according to the instructions, leading the wires from the PTF, directly to the mounting block, along the bumper and spar, laying the wiring to the button itself. It is important to secure all the wires with plastic clamps and place the wires in the corrugated tube where wear is the greatest possible.

PTF connection diagram

We carry out the connection strictly according to this scheme:

When the PTF is connected according to this scheme, everything is guaranteed to work.

The only drawback of this PTF connection option will be the lack of warning light on the dashboard.

Fog lamp operation check and final assembly

Before you start assembling all the assembled elements, you need to check everything for operability.

First of all, we check all the attachment points for the reliability of fixation - this applies to both the wires and the headlight unit itself. Then connect the terminal to battery and see how the light elements work. If everything worked out and works, we collect everything in the reverse order of removal and enjoy the work done.

conclusions

As you could see for yourself, in order to conduct a competent and correct installation PTF on the fret of the grant does not require great skills and knowledge. All you need to do is strictly follow our instructions and keep your skill and patience.

The last step will be to adjust the PTF so that the car ride is safe not only for you, but also for all other drivers traveling in the opposite direction.

The equipment of the car plays a huge role in the safety of movement, regardless of weather conditions. Thick fog is one of the most unpleasant manifestations of the weather, which can provoke not only a car stop, but also an accident due to poor visibility of the track. Installing fog lights allows you to travel in any climatic conditions... You can connect "foglights" to a VAZ in a car repair shop, but it is much cheaper to install them yourself.

What are "foglights" for?

The main task of the PTF is to illuminate the space in front of the car. Correctly adjusted "fog lights" are able to illuminate a section of the road 10-15 meters long. This distance is quite enough for safe movement by car in poor visibility conditions. The switching on and off of such lighting fixtures must be fully controlled by the driver.

The fog lights are adjusted during their installation. The procedure does not take much time, but it requires care and accuracy. You can install the rear and front PTFs yourself.

How can you install a PTF on a VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115

The installation of fog lights on a car can be done in different ways. The specific option is chosen by the owner of the car, based on his own capabilities, preferences and wishes. Main ways installation PTF three:

  1. Purchase of a bumper with pre-installed fog lights. Such parts are presented in a wide variety in a tuning studio, where they can be purchased and installed immediately. Service specialists are responsible for adjustment and connection. The disadvantage of this method is too high price works.
  2. Purchase of a bumper with holes for headlights. A model of a bumper with holes for foglights and a set of headlights is purchased. In this case, only the PTF is installed and the bumper is installed.
  3. Purchase of a set of "fog lights" and facing elements. The most popular and simplest method - installation is easy and quick, does not require large costs both financially and in terms of labor costs.

Installation diagram of fog lights

The fog lights are connected according to certain rules. They, first of all, relate to the placement of the PTF on the car. The locations for the headlights are strictly defined.

Layout of daytime running lights

Manufacturers of modern car models mark in advance the PTF installation sites on the bumpers. As a rule, such lighting elements are most often available in the luxury equipment of the car. If the headlights themselves are absent, then the places of their installation are closed with special plugs.

How to supply a PTF: necessary materials and tools

The installation of fog lights, regardless of the chosen installation method, requires certain parts and tools, without which it is impossible.

What is a button and a relay for?

A special button and relay must be mandatory - "fog lights" are very powerful equipment for wiring a car. The absence of such parts can provoke high current loads on the terminals and the ignition switch, which will cause burnout of contacts, damage and overheating of the insulation protection and a short circuit with failure of the power supply network.

In order to install fog lights on a VAZ, it is necessary to assemble certain parts in advance or purchase a ready-made kit. The cost of such a set rarely exceeds one thousand rubles.

The PTF kit includes:

  • wires with pads and terminals for a specific VAZ model. There are three of them as standard: one connects the headlights, the second goes to the relay from the switch and the third goes from the relay to the fuse box;
  • fog lamp relay;
  • power button;
  • clips and ties that fix the wires;
  • fog lights.

Which PTFs to prefer? The headlights themselves are chosen by the driver to his taste, but the main thing when choosing is not to be mistaken with the power, so as not to overload the generator and the car's wiring. It is better not to purchase headlights with xenon: the generator has a certain power reserve, but at the same time it is not designed for too high loads. Ordinary bulbs will suffice.

How to connect the "fog" with your own hands

Before the direct installation of the headlights, their location is determined. In the case of a VAZ 2115 car, there are already standard holes in the bumper for installing additional lighting devices. Similar ones can be cut in the bumpers of the VAZ 2113 and VAZ 2114.

You don't have to spoil appearance bumpers - fog lights are easily installed on special brackets. Many PTF kits contain special decorative plugs that add attractiveness and accuracy to the installed headlights and facilitate their installation.

Installation and connection algorithm

  1. Installing the power button in the car. In the case of the VAZ-2114, the space for the key is on the left side of the driver on the front panel. However, its placement can be arbitrary - the main thing is that it is convenient for the driver to drive the car. Often, PTF power buttons are installed instead of plugs on the control panel.
  2. The grill with the speaker is removed from the standard front panel. Behind it there are two connectors - one is for turning on the headlights, the second is for indicating the operation of lighting devices and backlighting the button itself.
  3. The button is placed in a convenient place, chips are connected to it. The speaker grill can be returned to its place.
  4. Under the hood, there should be a mounting block that combines fuses and relays. In the same place will be mounted relay PTF, therefore, the block must be removed: for this, the nuts with which it is fastened are unscrewed and it is raised.
  5. On the bottom panel mounting block there are two pads - 7 and 8. Each of the pads is signed during manufacture at the factory, so mistakes cannot be made at this stage.
  6. The PTF set has a wiring harness with four contacts. The said wires are stretched to the fuse box from the fog lamp relay.
  7. The relay is mounted in engine compartment car.
  8. The wires coming from the PTF relay are connected to the 7th and 8th connectors of the mounting block: in the 7th connector on the 8th terminal, the 30th terminal from the relay is connected, the 87th terminal is connected to the connector 1, the 85th terminal is to the connector 17 on the 7th block, the 86th terminal is connected to the ground ... From 8 pads 2 and 3 terminals are directed to the left and right fog lights, respectively.
