Volkswagen Jetta: clearance, specifications, review and photos. The main technical characteristics of the car Volkswagen Jetta What is the ground clearance of the Volkswagen Jetta

Among domestic motorists, the Volkswagen Jetta has rightfully earned a reputation as a reliable "workhorse", perfectly adapted to work on Russian roads, the quality of which has at all times left much to be desired. Let's take a closer look at the main technical characteristics of this wonderful German car.

Specifications Volkswagen Jetta

Before proceeding to an overview of the main parameters of the Volkswagen Jetta, one clarification should be made. Jetta of three generations is most often found on domestic roads:

  • Jetta 6th generation, the newest (the release of this car was launched in 2014 after a deep restyling);
  • pre-styling Jetta 6 generation (2010 release);
  • Jetta 5th generation (2005 release).

All of the characteristics listed below will apply to exactly the three above models.

Body type, number of seats and steering wheel location

All generations of the Volkswagen Jetta have always had only one body type - the sedan.

The fifth generation sedans, produced before 2005, could be either four or five-door. The fifth and sixth generation Volkswagen Jetta is produced only in a four-door version. The vast majority of sedans are designed for 5 seats. These include the Volkswagen Jetta, which has two seats in the front and three in the back. The steering wheel in this car has always been located only on the left.

Body dimensions and trunk volume

Body dimensions are the most important parameter that a potential car buyer is guided by. The larger the machine, the more difficult it is to operate such a machine. The body dimensions of the Volkswagen Jetta are usually determined by three parameters: length, width and height. Length is measured from the farthest point of the front bumper to the furthest point of the rear bumper. The width of the body is measured at the widest point (for the Volkswagen Jetta, it is measured either by the wheel arches or by the B-pillars). As for the height of the Volkswagen Jetta, everything is not so simple with it: it is measured not from the bottom of the car to the highest point of the roof, but from the ground to the highest point of the roof (moreover, if roof rails are provided on the roof of the car, then their height is not taken into account when measuring ). Taking into account the above, the body dimensions and trunk volumes of the Volkswagen Jetta were as follows:

Gross and curb weight

As you know, the mass of cars is of two types: full and equipped. Unladen weight refers to the weight of a vehicle that is fully fueled and ready for use. At the same time, there is no cargo in the trunk of the car, and there are no passengers in the cabin (including the driver) either.

Gross vehicle weight is the unladen weight of a vehicle plus the full boot space and the maximum number of passengers that the vehicle is designed for. Here is the mass of the last three generations of the Volkswagen Jetta:

  • curb weight Volkswagen Jetta 2014 - 1229 kg. Gross weight - 1748 kg;
  • curb weight Volkswagen Jetta 2010 - 1236 kg. Gross weight 1692 kg;
  • the curb weight of the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta varied, depending on the configuration, from 1267 to 1343 kg. The gross vehicle weight was 1703 kg.

type of drive

Car manufacturers can equip their cars with three types of drives:

Four-wheel drive means the supply of torque from the engine to all four wheels. This greatly increases the cross-country ability of the car, the driver of an all-wheel drive car feels equally confident on a variety of road surfaces. But four-wheel drive cars are characterized by increased gas mileage and high cost.

Rear-wheel drive is currently equipped mainly with sports cars.

Front-wheel drive is found in the vast majority of modern passenger cars, and the Volkswagen Jetta is no exception. All generations of this car were equipped with FF front-wheel drive, and there is a simple explanation for this. A front-wheel drive car is easier to drive, making it the best fit for the novice car enthusiast. In addition, front-wheel drive vehicles are inexpensive, consume less fuel and are easier to maintain.

Clearance

Ground clearance (aka clearance) is the distance from the ground to the lowest point of the vehicle's bottom. It is this definition of clearance that is considered to be classic. But the engineers of the Volkswagen concern measure the ground clearance of their cars according to some method known only to them. So Volkswagen Jetta owners are often faced with a paradoxical situation: the distance from the muffler or from the shock absorber struts to the ground may be much less than the clearance specified by the manufacturer in the vehicle's operating instructions.

It should also be noted here that for Volkswagen Jetta cars sold in Russia, the ground clearance has been slightly increased. As a result, the numbers are as follows:

  • ground clearance on the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta is 138 mm, in the Russian version - 160 mm;
  • the clearance for the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta is 136 mm, the Russian version is 158 mm;
  • the ground clearance for the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta is 150 mm, the Russian version is 162 mm.

Transmission

Volkswagen Jetta cars are equipped with both mechanical and automatic transmissions. What kind of box will be installed in a particular Volkswagen Jetta model depends on the configuration chosen by the buyer. Mechanical boxes are considered to be more durable and reliable. Automatic transmissions help to significantly save fuel, but their reliability is poor.

The mechanical boxes installed on the 5th and 6th generation Jettas were last modernized in 1991. Since then, German engineers have not done anything with them. These are the same six-speed units that are ideal for those who prefer not to rely on automatic controls and want to have complete control of their car.

The seven-speed automatic transmissions found in the Volkswagen Jetta are able to provide a smoother and more comfortable ride. The driver will have to depress the pedals and shift gears much less often.

Finally, the newest Jetta, produced in 2014, can be equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox (DSG-7). This "robot" usually costs a little less than a full-fledged "machine". This circumstance contributes to the growing popularity of robotic boxes among modern motorists.

Fuel consumption and type, tank volumes

Fuel consumption is the most important parameter that every car owner is interested in. Currently, gasoline consumption from 6 to 7 liters per 100 km is considered to be optimal. Volkswagen Jetta is equipped with both diesel and gasoline engines. Accordingly, these cars can consume both diesel fuel and AI-95 gasoline. Here are the fuel consumption rates for cars of different generations:

  • fuel consumption for the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta varies from 5.7 to 7.3 liters per 100 km on gasoline engines and from 6 to 7.1 liters on diesel engines;
  • fuel consumption for the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta varies from 5.9 to 6.5 liters on petrol engines and from 6.1 to 7 liters on diesel engines;
  • fuel consumption for the 2005 Volkswagen Jetta ranges from 5.8 to 8 liters for petrol engines, and 6 to 7.6 liters for diesel engines.

As for the volume of the fuel tanks, the volume of the tank is the same on all generations of the Volkswagen Jetta: 55 liters.

Wheel and tire sizes

Here are the main parameters of Volkswagen Jetta tires and wheels:

Engines

The Volkswagen concern adheres to a simple rule: the more expensive the car, the larger its engine capacity. Since the Volkswagen Jetta never belonged to the segment of high-end cars, the engine volume of this car never exceeded two liters.

Now in more detail:

  • 2014 Volkswagen Jetta cars were equipped with CMSB and SAXA engines, the volume of which varied from 1.4 to 2 liters, and the power varied from 105 to 150 hp. from;
  • volkswagen Jetta cars produced in 2010 were equipped with STNA and CAVA engines with a volume of 1.4 to 1.6 liters and a capacity of 86 to 120 hp;
  • 2005 Volkswagen Jetta cars were equipped with BMY and BSF engines with power from 102 to 150 hp. from. and a volume of 1.5 to 2 liters.

Interior trim

It's no secret that German engineers prefer not to rack their brains for a long time when it comes to the interior trim of budget compact cars, which include the Volkswagen Jetta. In the photo below you can see the Jetta salon of 2005 release.

The interior trim is not bad here. Despite some "angularity", all the trim elements are made of high-quality materials: it is either durable plastic, which is not so easy to scratch, or solid leatherette. The main problem of the fifth generation Jetta was crampedness. It is this problem that Volkswagen engineers sought to eliminate by restyling the model in 2010.

The salon of the sixth generation Jetta has become a little more spacious. The distance between the front seats has increased by 10 cm. The distance between the front and rear seats has increased by 20 cm (this required a little lengthening of the car body). The finish itself has lost its former "angularity". Its elements have become round and ergonomic. The color scheme has also changed: the interior has become monophonic, light gray. In this form, this salon migrated to the "Jetta" 2014 release.

Video: test drive Volkswagen Jetta

So, "Jetta" in 2005 safely experienced its rebirth, and judging by the constantly increasing sales around the world, the demand for the German "workhorse" is not even going to fall. This is not surprising: thanks to the abundance of complete sets and the reasonable pricing policy of the company, every motorist will be able to choose a Jetta to suit his taste and wallet.

Austere classic design, true German handling and compact dimensions - this is what Volkswagen calls the Jetta. What is Jetta? We are talking about a kind of beefy Polo or undernourished Passat, endowed with amazing practicality and accuracy - in the best German traditions. In 2016, this golf-class sedan in its last generation (VI) underwent restyling, becoming even more attractive, roomy and equipped. Read about what exactly changed in the car as a result of the update, read our review!

Design

Many of the sixth generation Jetta, even despite the restyling, seem boring and uninteresting, like other models of the manufacturer from Germany. In this regard, brand fans have a quite natural question: why, if no one bothers to "upgrade" the car at the expense of St. George ribbons, a patriotic sticker with the inscription "to Berlin" and other things dearly loved by motorists in our country? But seriously: an updated car, like the rest of the Volkswagens, is never boring - just to fall in love with its design, you need to have a taste, and, unfortunately, taste is not given at birth. Conclusion: you simply need to "grow" to the Volkswagen design.

During the modernization, the Jetta changed the headlights and taillights - in place of the previous head lighting technology, narrowed halogen, adaptive bi-xenon or LED optics (depending on the configuration) now flaunt, forming a cunning squint, and at the "stern" there are quite original lamps with a modified pattern ... The headlamps are connected to each other thanks to the elegant radiator grille, made in the form of three chrome strips. LED daytime running lights are an excellent addition to the front fascia and are available at an additional cost. After the update, the overall look of the Jetta is even more dynamic than it was. No wonder the model is named after the strong wind (aka Jet Stream), which has a strong impact on the movement of aircraft - in this case, such a name is fully justified.

Design

At the heart of the restyled sedan is not a new platform at all, which was inherited from the Golf 6th generation. The "refreshed" Jetta, alas, lagged behind the Golf, since the hatchback of the last, seventh generation is built on the basis of the modern modular design of the MQB. The suspension scheme of the old "golf" platform looks like this: in the front there are McPherson struts on a rigid steel subframe, and in the back there is an independent multi-link, reconfigured to take into account the longer wheelbase and wider track of the Jetta. The Russian version of the model, unlike the European one, has reinforced shock absorbers, anti-roll bars and some other suspension and body parts.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

As part of adaptation to the road realities of Russia, Jetta received a galvanized body, a generator of increased power (140A) and a larger battery, an enlarged washer reservoir, an internal combustion engine cooling system adapted for the Russian climate, an emergency call button for emergency services in case of an Era-Glonass accident and an additional electric heater salon (for modifications with a 1.4-liter TSI engine). For operation in the cold season, heated seats in the first row, side electric mirrors, washer nozzles and windshield are provided. In addition, separate climate control is available in the top trim levels. The ground clearance of the four-door is 160 mm - quite enough for daily city driving. The drive is front-wheel drive by default.

Comfort

It is impossible to notice changes in the cabin with the naked eye. Volkswagen did not radically change the interior, since it was initially well thought out and organized. Among the innovations are improved quality of finishing materials, slightly modified dashboard wells, brand new keys under the media system display on the center console and slightly modified climate control controls (now there are three round regulators instead of two on the climate block). The beveled steering wheel has passed from the seventh Golf - this "steering wheel" has a comfortable grip and is adjustable both in height and in reach. Thanks to it, the driver of any size will settle in his seat with maximum comfort, especially considering that the driver's seat has an impressive "travel" in height, pronounced lateral support and a considerable headroom - and this is in a low-looking car. All the seats in the Jetta are firm and comfortable in German, with plenty of legroom.

Of the shortcomings, only small characters on the control keys for various car systems and the central box-armrest, "prescribed" between the front seats, are worthy of mention - it is difficult to name it and the armrest due to the fact that it is strongly pushed back, and lean on it with your elbow during the driving time is not working. The trunk opening has become wider after restyling. The volume of the cargo compartment (at least 510 liters) has not increased, but it has definitely become more convenient to load large luggage. Inside the trunk is a full-size spare wheel on a steel rim and a 12-volt socket.

Jetta's list of “safe” equipment has been expanded with an electronic stability control (ESP) with electronic differential lock, electronic assistance when leaving the parking lot, blind spot monitoring, a driver fatigue sensor and adaptive bi-xenon optics with dynamic cornering lights. While it is still possible not to spend money on the fatigue recognition system, then you simply cannot do without sensors of "blind" zones, because the outside mirrors are not too large and, accordingly, not informative enough. There are at least six airbags in the base, and a rear-view camera is a privilege of expensive configurations.

In the basic version of the Jetta - the usual audio preparation with several speakers, and in the more expensive version - a radio tape recorder with MP3 support, AUX input, SD card slot, Bluetooth and USB connector for connecting gadgets. The top four-door car relies on a multimedia complex with a built-in CD / MP3 radio tape recorder, a rear video review and an App Connect function, which allows you to display various applications from Apple and Android on the screen of "multimedia". Navigation is available at a surcharge only - complete with Discover Media and 6.5-inch touchscreen display.

Volkswagen Jetta Specifications

The range of engines includes two petrol units - a 1.6-liter MPI engine with a 90 or 110 hp output, compatible with a five-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, as well as a 1.4-liter TSI turbo engine with direct fuel injection. The latter develops 125 or 150 hp, combined with a six-speed manual transmission, or with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch robotic transmission. "Robot" - thanks to the restyling - is no longer antsy. All engines meet the Euro-5 environmental standard, prefer 95th gasoline and, judging by the passport, consume from 5.2 to 5.9 liters. fuel per 100 km, depending on the modification. The most dynamic version of the new Jetta is considered to be a variant with a 150-horsepower TSI engine and a seven-speed DSG - it spends only 8.6 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h, and its top speed is 220 km / h.

Currently, many auto concerns are trying to release something new and unusual. This allows you to get even more profit and new customers. In this regard, representatives of the Volkswagen company decided to show several configurations at once, including the station wagon - a completely new model, which in the photo will certainly appeal to many buyers.

Well, today, the 6th generation Volkswagen Jetta of 2013 continues a stubborn struggle for leadership in the Russian market, as well as for the love of its potential customers.

Photo Volkswagen Jetta 2013

If you take a close look at the photo, then the sedan of the 2013 model year has not received any externally any changes or improvements. However, as for a different perspective, namely the price one, it has become a little more affordable.

This became possible due to the development and launch of sales of the Conceptline, which is shown in the photo. It cannot boast a huge list of power equipment, but its cost will be a very good sales factor compared to the same model station wagon.

Configuration and equipment of Jetta 2013

Assembly and equipment

Let's solve several important questions at once. Where and what configurations of the Volkswagen Jetta model were produced in 2013 versions, one of which is in the photo below. Let's start in order.

Many car owners are wondering where the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta car is going? And this is not surprising, because the company has a lot of points where not only parts are produced, but also the assembly itself. The largest and most popular place is the Mexican factory. It is here that the employees of the auto concern produce the largest part of all manufactured products. Of course, there are centers in the USA, Russia, Japan and other countries, but they produce a rather small percentage of the total supplied vehicles.

By the way, in Russia, the assembly of Jetta 2013 takes place in Nizhny Novgorod. According to motorists, sometimes domestically assembled cars come with a factory defect, which, to joy, is promptly eliminated by service centers.

Below is a table for your reference. It reflects the basic configurations and their power equipment. There is also a mark about what kind of transmission this or that modification was equipped with.

Exterior photo: 2013 sedan face

Looking not only at the Volkswagen Jetta model from 2013, but also at the photo of the interior and exterior, you can see that the designers have used new ideas and lines that allow the car to stand out from the general crowd.

The main feature is the headlights made with LEDs. Due to this, the driver receives an increased glow radius and better road visibility.

As for the shape, the designers decided to use simple squares, which is quite unusual. The radiator grille is made of special materials that increase the service life of the part and prevent various types of corrosion. The lower part of the bumper is equipped with rounded tumanks. It is they that allow the driver to move around during a blizzard and morning fog.

Photo VW Jetta 2013 release

If we talk about the side and rear of the car, then everything is pretty monotonous. The designers did not come up with something unusual. The driver will be able to see all the same rear-view mirrors made in the form of a trapezoid. This form will allow the driver to effectively control everything that happens behind and to the side of the car.

The taillights combine three signals at once: stop, turn and reverse. This technology is very practical and unusual. After all, due to this, the employees of the auto concern save some of the space.

It is worth noting that the tailgate is equipped with a small hand tab. Due to this, you will not have any problems while opening the trunk and loading things.

Interior and useful "little things"

I would like to say a few words about the interior of the car itself. After all, it was here that the company's designers applied their best ideas and developments.

When looking at a photo of the Jetta salon in 2013, you can see that the designers used only high-quality materials and natural leather. Due to this, the driver gets good feelings and prestige.

The dashboard, as seen in the photo of the cabin, is equipped with a speedometer, tachometer, fuel level sensor and mileage. All this allows the driver to receive useful information in real time.

As for the center console, there is a small display and many buttons. Each of them is responsible for a specific set of functions. In the basic kit, the client receives:

  • climate control;
  • multi system;
  • several airbags;
  • automatic transmission and much more.

For all this, you will have to pay about one million rubles. I would also like to say about the passenger seat. The fact is that it is equipped with a fairly comfortable seat with many adjustments. Due to this, you will find a comfortable position and get real pleasure from movement. There is an airbag in the front panel, which is deployed during any impact.

As for the rear seat, everything is pretty good. For passengers there is a comfortable sofa with an armrest, a socket for charging gadgets and cup holders. All this will allow you to have a snack on the road and enjoy good music.

Appearance and photo of Jetta VW Jetta wagon 2013

More recently, Volkswagen employees announced that the new Jetta model will only be released at the beginning of the year. In fact, it will be an off-road version of the well-known Volkswagen Jetta station wagon version of 2013, the photo of which is presented here.

Of the main features, it can be noted that the station wagon has new door sills made of high-quality plastic. Due to this, the driver will not have any problems getting into the station wagon in the winter.

2013 VW Jetta station wagon

Do not forget that the new VW Jetta station wagon of 2013 is equipped with all-wheel drive and a rather powerful power unit. Due to this, the client will not get lost in the city traffic and will enjoy driving if there is a station wagon at his disposal.

Many experts were confident that the station wagon would win a huge number of driving hearts in 2013. This is exactly what happened. This is due to the fact that in Europe and Russia, an all-wheel drive vehicle is very popular, but the station wagon is not so popular.

Thus, for a small amount, the client will receive a solid C-class car. A well-chosen set of functions and additions from options will brighten up minutes of long journeys or long journeys. And also the buyer takes a really good German mark, which will serve faithfully for a long time, no matter what.

According to car owners, they are not disappointed in their choice, even after months of operation. Fuel consumption decreases slightly over time, and is about 10-11 liters in urban conditions, and 6.2 - 7.5 liters on the highway. The gearbox on the mechanics flawlessly, it shifts clearly, the suspension is good. The car holds the road well, comfortable seats do not put stress on the spine, even during long journeys.

For comfortable movement around the city, it is important to feel confident that the bumper will remain intact when parking or that the threshold of the car will not be damaged when leaving a bump. All these factors directly depend not only on the skill of the driver, but also on the vehicle's ground clearance (clearance).

In accordance with the technical parameters, the ground clearance (ground clearance) of the Volkswagen Jetta is 160 mm. In fact, if you measure the distance from the front bumper of the Jetta to the ground, provided there are 2 people weighing 86 kg in the car, the clearance is 15 centimeters more!

The distance from the front bumper to the ground was 175 mm, the distance from the sill to the ground was 175 mm.

This data is the maximum value in this class!

Ground clearance - logbook Volkswagen Jetta 🏄1.6TDI MT 🅿️remium 2016 on DRIVE2

Many people ask if there is enough clearance, I decided to post honest photos with numbers without embellishment, and then you decide for yourself who has enough and who does not :) tires recommended for an unloaded machine 2.3, although I think not a little? I had 2.2 on the previous one in 15/195/55, and here in 16/205/55 it was -2.3 So: The lowest point is the native plastic engine protection 12.5 cm Further the stiffeners under the front seats are about 13.5 (apparently this figure is shown in the passport data)
Things are much better with thresholds and overhangs! at the point of jacking up 16cm, at the extreme point of the threshold 1cm more
The overhang in front of the front wheel is 17cm (the aerodynamic mudguard is soft, so I think nothing will happen to it if you touch it)
under the beginning of the front overhang of 18.5 cm (the same as seen under the painted corners of the bumper) my conclusion is this: you can not be afraid to approach the curbs (within reasonable limits :)) to hook the threshold in the turn with the usual curb, in principle, too, but strongly to run up with two side wheels on the curb - undesirable, I have already checked the protection :) and of course it will probably cling to the winter track, but for the winter I will take rubber not 55 profile as now, but 60th, maybe a centimeter will be added. Good luck to all.

It is worth mentioning the clearance of the 2018 Volkswagen Jetta - it is 16 centimeters in all versions.

Overview

Volkswagen Jetta is presented in five trim levels, namely: Conceptline, Trendline, Life, Comfortline and Highline (the most top-end configuration).

Compared to the previous version, the new sedan has the following changes:

  • the length increased to 464 centimeters;
  • the wheelbase has become longer, now it is 265 cm;
  • the car became 178 cm wide;
  • in height - 145 cm;
  • seats for passengers in the second row are now three.

Regardless of the configuration, the exterior of the new Volkswagen Jetta is identical to previous models. Features of the external and internal appearance:

  • front optics - LED;
  • compared to previous versions, the new one has a modern radiator grill, which has been installed on Volkswagen cars since 2015;
  • there is also a three-section grille in front of the air intakes, on the sides of which there are fog lights;
  • fixed a bug in previous versions, in which the edge of the body with the trunk lid was not visible;
  • updated steering wheel design, which is now three-spoke (the lower spoke is split into two separate ones);
  • on the dashboard there is a speedometer with a tachometer, which also have built-in readings of the fuel level and oil temperature, and between them a display with readings of the total mileage of the car, current mileage, temperature overboard and power reserve is built in;
  • the center console got a monitor with a navigation system, on the sides of which there are control buttons;
  • the cabin has more space for passengers, namely in the back row.

The Volkswagen Jetta's ground clearance has also been increased to 16 centimeters.

Depending on the configuration, the functionality of the car changes. For example, in the most top-end configuration, the salon is equipped with interior lighting, the color of which can be selected upon purchase. Also, the top-end equipment has a panoramic roof and leather-trimmed seats.

The display, located in the center dashboard, includes the navigation system, climate control, lighting and more. Climate control is optional, standard models are equipped with air conditioning. Electric seat adjustment is also an option, in basic versions the adjustment is mechanical.

The new version of the Volkswagen Jetta received a new set of airbags, which are now located in the doors. There is also heating in the front seats, and power windows are also electrified (even in the basic configuration). There is no need to talk about the ABS system, because it is present in most modern cars.

The interior trim material has not changed, which includes plastic and fabric. Only the top version has leather in the cabin due to the company's marketing policy, because according to the seller's assurance, this is the most affordable sedan in the Volkswagen lineup. The Volkswagen Jetta's ground clearance is as much as 16 centimeters, which gives it proper cross-country ability.

The price for Jetta in 2018 starts at 949,000 rubles and ends at 1,319,000 rubles.

In the summer of 2014, at a motor show in Moscow, the debut of the updated Volkswagen Jetta, which was developed taking into account the peculiarities of car operation in Russia, took place. So, the new Volkswagen Jetta 2015 model year received a "winter kit". The latter includes a liquid level sensor in the washer reservoir, as well as heated windshield washer nozzles, front seats and exterior mirrors. This decision should boost demand for the German sedan, which has lost significant market share in recent years.

Exterior design elements

The exterior of the restyled Volkswagen Jetta of the 6th generation looks quite solid and elegant. The beautiful body contours stylishly emphasize the curves of the plastic body kit. Modern lighting technology has also become an addition, which is in perfect harmony with other design elements.

New Jetta 2015 received not very significant changes. So, the radiator grill has slightly increased in size, the rear bumper has changed, the window pillars in the front have been updated. We also note the installation of LED daytime running lights and the use of many protective plastic pads on the underside of the car. The main task that the developers wanted to implement was to improve the aerodynamic performance of the model in order to increase the fuel economy of the car. It is noteworthy that the fuel consumption of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta has indeed decreased by about 5-9 percent.

Overall dimensions of Volkswagen Jetta (restyling) 2015-2016 model year have not changed:

  • length - 4644 mm;
  • width - 1778 mm;
  • height - 1482 mm;
  • the size of the wheelbase is 2651 mm.

The clearance (ground clearance) of the updated Volkswagen Jetta is 160 millimeters, and the curb weight of the sedan reaches 1295-1350 kg. The volume of the trunk of the novelty remains the same, it is 510 liters.

Internal updates

Photos of the interior of the new 2015 Volkswagen Jetta show that there have been many more interesting changes inside, compared to the exterior. Now the interior of the sedan is very similar to the salon of the Volkswagen Golf. This will have a positive effect on the popularity of the model, since the previously used interior elements looked too budgetary and uninteresting.

A new steering wheel, better materials, as well as a redesigned front panel made the interior of the restyled Volkswagen Jetta 2015 really comfortable. This is quite an expected decision, because we are talking about the products of the German automotive industry.

The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta received the same range of powertrains, although some updates are still available. Experts have finalized the base engine, the volume of which, as before, is 1.6 liters. Power also has not changed - the same 85 "horses". The difference lies in the more modern fuel hardware, which made the engine much less appetizing.

The other three petrol powertrains remain the same. The atmospheric 1.6-liter "four" with a 16-valve mechanism and distributed fuel injection develops 105 forces, and its peak torque is 153 Nm. This engine is paired with either a five-speed "stick", or a six-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h lasts 11.5 and 12.5 seconds, depending on the selected gearbox. At the same time, the fuel consumption of the Volkswagen Jetta 2015 with this engine is on average 6.5 / 7.0 liters (for manual transmission and automatic transmission, respectively).

The range of turbocharged engines opens with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine with direct petrol injection. Its power reaches 122 "horses", and the maximum torque is 200 Nm. This unit is available with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 7-speed DSG robotized transmission with manual control and dual clutch. Regardless of the selected box, the acceleration of the Volkswagen Jetta 2015 from zero to a hundred lasts 9.8 seconds. True, the robot turned out to be more economical: fuel consumption averages 6.0 liters, while the version with automatic transmission already consumes 6.2 liters in the combined cycle.

The maximum power in the line of engines of the restyled Volkswagen Jetta of the 2015-2016 model year has a 150-horsepower version of the 1.4-liter engine. The maximum torque of the unit reaches 240 Nm. The top engine is combined exclusively with a robotic transmission. This tandem accelerates the car from standstill to 100 km / h in just 8.6 seconds. "Maximum speed" is 215 km / h, and fuel consumption is a maximum of six liters.

Interestingly, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta is based on the outdated PQ35 chassis, which the Germans no longer use on new models. At the same time, the developers did not even make major changes to the suspension parameters. As before, there is an independent McPherson system in the front, and a semi-independent suspension with a torsion beam at the rear. At the same time, the more expensive configurations of the Volkswagen Jetta in 2015 received a rear multi-link independent suspension.

The car received disc brakes on the front and rear axles. The diameter of the front discs is 288 mm, while the rear discs are 272 mm. It is worth noting that ventilated brakes are installed at the front. The vehicle is equipped with an electromechanical power steering with variable effort.
