Today we will talk about the new generation of KIA Sorento 2016-2017, which was presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show in 2015. The manufacturer is developing very quickly and often produces new cars, since Russian buyers are good at acquiring models of this brand.

This is the third generation of the crossover, the past two generations have sold well and it was decided to release a new version. Since this is one of the most popular cars of the brand, we will tell you about it in all the details and perhaps start with the exterior.

Design

The manufacturer has changed the exterior very much, but the similarity with the previous generation can still be traced. Also, if you look closely, you can find similarities with. The muzzle has received narrow, partially LED aggressive optics, which is connected to a huge chrome grille. The grille has chrome dots inside, similar to some Mercedes-Benz models.

The massive bumper has plastic inserts that protect the bumper and speak of the off-road capabilities of the car. Also inserted into the bumper are really large fog lights, which do their job perfectly in case of fog.

The profile of the KIA Sorento 2017 model immediately makes it clear how big the car is. Plastic protection is also noticeable on this side. Slightly inflated wheel arches and deep stamping in the lower part of the body will please. The window has a chrome edging around it, door opening handles are also made of polished aluminum. In principle, the car has good discs, and behind them you can see powerful brakes.

From the back, everything is a little simpler, but it still looks quite brutal. Large headlights with LED filling are used here, which shine excellent and look good. 3. The only diesel internal combustion engine in the car lineup is a 4-valve 2-liter direct injection engine. The unit produces 200 horsepower and 441 units of torque. The dynamics are extremely weak - more than 9 seconds of acceleration and 203 km / h of maximum speed. City driving requires 10 liters of diesel fuel, 6 liters on the highway.

All three engines comply with Euro 6 standards and are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The car has four-wheel drive, which allows showing good off-road data.

Suspension characteristics are good for off-road, the car is equipped with a fully independent suspension. At the back it is multi-link, and at the front it is a rack. In Russia, only all-wheel drive models can be found on sale. In general, the suspension is typical of modern crossovers: it is short-travel and stiff, and the ground clearance is very low (185 mm).

The model has a huge 7-seater salon with excellent quality materials and good workmanship. The front row received comfortable leather seats with electrically adjustable heating and ventilation. The luggage compartment is small, if you have a third row, its volume is only 142 liters, and if you fold all the seats, you can get 1732 liters. If you initially have a 5-seater version, then the trunk volume is 605 liters.

Apparently, the success inspired the developers, since the first generation of KIA Sorento managed to go through two major restyling:

• 2006 - the power of the car was increased and the exterior was seriously updated;
• 2008 - the radiator grill has been completely changed.

The latest update came a year before the company unveiled the second generation of the Kia Sorento. Perhaps the management decided in this way to stir up interest in the model and set the stage for the expected premiere.

The debut of the second generation Kia Sorento took place in Seoul, in 2009. The car has really gone through dramatic changes:

• a load-bearing body appeared;
• there was a rejection of the frame structure;
• a new 197 liter diesel engine was installed;
• in the new version, the torque was 435 Nm.

In addition, the new Kia crossover has become much more spacious, which was facilitated by the increased overall dimensions, which was repeatedly noted by reviewers.

The second generation Kia Sorento also received recognition, which is confirmed by a significant number of cars of this brand on the roads around the world. But the Koreans were not going to, and it seems they are not going to stay.

Four years later, the car underwent restyling. So, in 2013, the crossover began to be produced with three versions of the upgraded engines, two of which ran on diesel fuel. The power went up as well. In general, the options looked like this:

• gasoline, 2.4 liters, with a capacity of 175 horses;
• a diesel engine with two liters (150 hp) and 2.3 liters, the power of the latter was almost two hundred horses, namely 197 hp.

Such technical characteristics for an urban, in general, crossover were really impressive. In addition, the description of the restyled version of the 2013 Kia Sorento also included:

• new exterior and interior design (in particular, updated headlights, a radiator grill, chrome plastic framing of some elements, an increase in air ducts and a bumper, which has acquired reflective reflectors);
• improved car handling;
• availability of 19 inch alloy wheels as an option;
• improving the comfort and safety of the cabin.

Staying true to themselves, the manufacturers of KIA Sorento released the third generation of the car just a year later, after an impressive 2013 restyling.

In 2014, in Paris, during the motor show, the Kia Sorrento was presented, belonging to the third generation of this model. For the whole world the car was labeled as Kia Sorrento UM, but in Russia it is presented as Kia Sorrento Prime.

Prime has literally charmed motorists. Firstly, the abundance of complete sets. Among similar crossovers, Kia Sorrento is distinguished by a large number of functions in the basic configuration. No other crossover can boast such a set. Photos of the interior, the volume of the trunk and a large selection of body colors - all this allowed the car to become a truly popular crossover in many countries, where Russia is no exception. The package includes a lot of all sorts of amenities, such as an automatic transmission with six steps, a high-quality audio system with six speakers, which can be controlled by connecting an external device. Also included are alloy wheels and soft-touch fabric seats;
• LX is the second most popular grade. Previously it was considered basic, but the crisis is making its own adjustments. It has all the functions of the previous version, plus a touch screen of the Kia Uvo audio system, heated front seats, an ergonomic sunroof and the presence of front fog lights. The proposed engine is a 3.3-liter V6 Lambda, the car can be all-wheel drive or only with front-wheel drive;
• EX - in this configuration, leather seats are basic, which is already nice. The possibility of heated seats, beautiful alloy wheels with black inserts, foglights - all this is standard for this option. The EX Premium Package adds the Infinity Sound System, paired with the familiar Kia Uvo. And thanks to the presence of the third row of seats, the car is very roomy. As standard, the car is equipped with a two-liter turbocharged I4 engine. However, V6 Lambda also remains an available option. Power of 240 horses makes the Kia Sorrento EX a very unusual crossover;
• SX - today this configuration is the last before the highest level. It includes a smart key, Infinity sound system, heating, leather in the cabin and everything else. The base engine is a V6, but you can choose from optional offers. The set includes an excellent navigation system plus a touch screen. Probably, in the future this particular variant will take the "top" set;
• Limited - the highest level of prestige, premium class, the largest possible basic set. Formerly called SX Limited. It includes an interior trimmed with Nappa - the best automotive leather in the world, the front seats are heated and ventilated, the rear ones are only heated. Luxurious sunroof allowing you to enjoy the panorama of the surroundings. The engine can be chosen: turbocharged I4 or V6. Previously, this Kia equipment was called SX Limited and its fans should hurry up, because already in 2017 this name will become part of automotive history.

As you can see, even in the simplest trim levels, this crossover has something to surprise and delight the buyer.

Among the innovations, it is worth noting how much the auto platform has improved. Add to this the emergence of an independent suspension - and we get a car, which is a pleasure to drive. Indeed, the level of driving comfort has improved dramatically.

The interior of the new Kia

The photo of the salon of the new Kia model is something. The interior has undergone dramatic changes. Significantly increased functional potential, beautiful design, overall ergonomics of the cabin are all part of the updated look of the Kia Sorento 2016.

For starters, the salon can accommodate up to seven people. True, the third row of seats is an additional option, however, even if you refuse it, you still have a very impressive trunk. By the way, the shape of the seats has changed, which makes even a long trip a very comfortable pastime.

The control panel has changed a lot - now it looks more like an aircraft cabin than a car. The steering wheel has become larger, more comfortable and has acquired smoother shapes.

Soundproofing deserves special attention - the noise of the engine is practically inaudible in the cabin, which parents of small children will surely appreciate.

In fact, the list of benefits can be continued for quite some time. The disadvantages are only two points:

The exact cost of the Kia Sorento 2016 has not yet been determined, but experts are already predicting a difference of half a million rubles, at least. Is the novelty worth that kind of money - this is the question asked by visitors to auto forums.
