Hyundai Solaris brake fluid: what type and when to change? Replacing the working fluid in the hydraulic drive of the brake system Hyundai Solaris Brake fluid pouring into the Hyundai Solaris.

Brake fluid is an essential component of absolutely any braking system. Hyundai Solaris is no exception. However, the car owner should understand that she can fully work out her entire limit and will have to be changed to a new one. However, not every motorist is ready to give money to the service and strives to repair everything on his own. So how is brake fluid changed?

Required tools

To replace you will need:

  1. Syringe or bulb for pumping brake fluid from the reservoir;
  2. Rags;
  3. Metal brush;
  4. A couple of liters of water;
  5. A thin hose that will be put on to drain fluid from the fittings;
  6. Capacity, the volume of which is 300-500 ml;
  7. Brake fluid about 1 liter;
  8. Ring wrench for unscrewing the fittings on the brake cylinders;
  9. a partner who will help.

It is recommended to change the Hyundai Solaris brake fluid every 2 years or every 45000 km of run, since it is hydroscopic and when moisture gets into it, the boiling point of the fluid decreases, and with intensive braking, the system mechanisms get very hot, which can cause the brake fluid to boil and reduce the effectiveness of the brakes ... Also, moisture causes corrosion of the inner surfaces of the brake mechanisms, which will further lead to leakage, seizure, breakage and replacement of these components. You can change the brake fluid with your own hands without any problems.

We recommend using the DOT 5 brand, as it meets more stringent requirements, and its price does not differ significantly from DOT 4. The market is full of different manufacturers, which one to choose is up to you.

Step by step instructions for replacement

  • We drive into the inspection pit (if it is absent, we will have to unscrew and remove each wheel, which will take additional time).
  • We open the hood and the tank lid.

  • We take a pear or a large syringe and empty the tank.
  • Pour fresh liquid into the tank up to the “maximum” mark.

  • We clean the fittings on the working cylinders from dirt.

  • We take the spanner and turn off the fitting on the rear right wheel by ¼- ½ a turn.
  • We put a hose on it and lower it into a container.
  • The assistant sits down in the car and starts repeatedly pressing the brake pedal, while the old brake pipe will begin to flow into the container through the tube.

  • We control the process until fresh brake fluid appears from the tube.
  • We tighten the fitting slightly.
  • We ask your partner to press the brake pedal 2-5 times and leave it depressed.
  • Unscrew the fitting.
  • Fluid will flow from the tube and the pedal will fail.
  • When she stops running under pressure, spin.
  • We repeat the pumping procedure 3-5 times.
  • Remove the hose and put on the protective cap.
  • We wipe and pour water over the stained surfaces.
  • Add liquid to the MAX level.
  • The brake fluid change on the rear right wheel is complete.
  • Similarly, we change it on the remaining working cylinders, controlling the level in the tank.
  • We tighten the lid and close the hood.
  • We write down the mileage of the car and the date of replacement.
  • The replacement is complete.
  • Checking the brakes on the road. If the efficiency has dropped, we pump the system over again.

This completes the replacement. The main thing is to comply with, more precisely, you need to know which liquid to pour in, and make sure that the restrictive volume is not overcome.

Manufacturers always write in service books about the service life of a particular fluid. "Brakes" for Solaris can serve only 40 thousand kilometers, or, in other words, a little over two years with average use of the car. Many drivers mistakenly believe that if a given substance is in a closed loop, then nothing happens to it. But this is not the case.

It is worth noting that, in fact, there are hydraulic holes in the expansion tank through which the liquid, so to speak, contacts the outside world. Hence one of the main disadvantages of such a liquid follows - it quite simply absorbs the moisture that is in the air. The longer this contact takes place, the worse the brake works. It is on this basis that the manufacturer calculated the operational framework, which is not advised to leave.

The car requires the attention of the owner, if you are an owner who does not take great care of your car, then you still have to do it. Of course, not all parts must be changed and all that, but filling fluids in cars must be changed! Don't believe us, ask a good auto mechanic then. And so closer to the point, the Hyundai Solaris car does not differ (in particular) from other cars. And so on this page we will analyze: how much and what kind of liquid you need to pour into your car.

What and how much to fill in Hyundai Solaris

Engine oil

Hyundai Solaris is equipped with two 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter engines, both gasoline. The volume of filling liquids is the same, it is equal to 3.3 liters. SAE oils can be used 5W20 or 5W30 at your discretion. By API only SM, but by ILSAC GF-4. Pour oil either original, branded, or buy another, but that would be all right.

Oil for automatic transmission and manual transmission.

For a manual gearbox, we buy oil according to API GL-4, and according to SAE 75W85, we need 1.9 liters of oil in the box.

For automatic transmissions, the fluid is Diamond ATF SP-III or SK ATF SP-III. Automatic transmission volume \u003d 6.8 liters, it will take more than a manual transmission.

The power steering fluid is Ultra PSF-3 03100-00100 (to make it easier for you, it has a red color), or we fill in Ultra PSF-3 03100-00110 (light brown). Fill in 0.9 liters.

Coolant.

We fill in Antifreeze safe for aluminum radiators with distilled water, in total we pour 5.3 liters.

Brake system

The brake fluid is DOT-3 or DOT-4, no difference, but the volume is 0.8 liters.

Before reystaling, the car's tank is 43 liters, but after its release in 2017, the car's tank is 50 liters.

Gasoline for both needs to be filled at least 92, but for better engine performance, it is better to pour 95 gasoline.

Brake fluid, like other lubricants, requires periodic replacement. This is due to the loss of qualities, they are lost during operation. So, the process of replacing brake fluid with a Hyundai Solaris is quite simple.

The video will tell you how to quickly and correctly change the brake fluid in a car, and also tell you about the nuances and tricks of the process

Replacement process

The brake system on Hyundai Solaris has two circuits, they are completely isolated from each other and are divided into parking and working. Such their application on cars provides increased safety of driving. It is the responsibility of each driver to monitor their technical condition and timely carry out routine maintenance and change the fluid. How to replace brake fluid (TZ) with Hyundai Solaris will be shown in a visual instruction photo.

We are replacing brake fluid with a Hyundai Solaris. We unscrew the cap on the brake fluid reservoir.

Tools and consumables needed to replace TJ:

  • new brake fluid;
  • rags;
  • key size "by 10";
  • transparent hose and container.

For a quick and successful replacement of the fuel fluid and bleeding the brakes, it is necessary to involve an assistant, and the replacement actions should be carried out on the inspection pit or overpass.

So, changing the fluid also provides for pumping the brake system, so we will consider two questions at once in one topic. The sequence of actions aimed at changing the brake fluid in Hyundai Solaris, regardless of the year of manufacture and body model:

  1. For every "fireman", it is recommended to dismantle the negative terminal from the battery.

    Using a screwdriver, remove the mesh from the tank.

  2. Using a pear, we pump out the old liquid from the tank.

    We pump out the waste liquid from the tank with a syringe.

  3. After that, we pour new fluid into the tank, and proceed to pumping the brake system.

    Install the mesh in place.

  4. Since the contours of the brake system are located diagonally, the bleeding pattern is as follows: Rear Left - Front Right - Rear Right - Front Left.

    We fill in a new fresh TJ in the tank up to the MAX mark.

  5. Now, it is necessary to clean the fitting for bleeding the brake system from dirt and other unwanted objects. And then, dismantle the rubber protective cap of the fitting.

    We replace the TJ according to the diagram, starting the pumping from the rear right wheel.

  6. We take a 10 key and loosen the fitting tightening.

    We remove the rubber protective cover.

  7. We put a tube on the fitting, and send the other end into a container where the old brake fluid will flow out.

    Then we remove the hose and put on the protective cap.

  8. We swing the brake pedal 3-4 times with an interval of 1-2 seconds. In this case, air can also escape with the liquid. After pumping, tighten the union and then release it. We do this several times until the old fluid comes out of the circuit.

    Then the assistant presses the pedal 3-4 times the last time until it stops. We take the key to "10", loosen the fitting tightening by ½-turn. Wait until the brake fluid is drained into the container. We pour the used brake fluid together with air bubbles into a pre-prepared bottle. When draining, pay attention to the color and drain until clean brake fluid comes out. Thus, we pump all wheels. Then we remove the hose and put on the protective cap. Add liquid to the MAX level.

  9. After work, it is necessary to tighten the union and put on the rubber protective cap.

Fluid selection

The car manufacturer recommends using only a certified TJ that meets all quality parameters and technical characteristics. For Hyundai Solaris, DOT-3 or DOT-4 of FMVSS116 standard is suitable. The original "BRAKE FLUID" Hyundai / Kia 0110000110 DOT 4 is poured from the factory. To fill the system, you need 0.7-0.8 liters. But if with full pumping and simultaneous replacement in the clutch cylinder, then you just need to take a standard liter bottle.

The level of TZ in the tank should be between the risks "MIN" and "MAX" applied to the side of the tank.

As the vehicle is used, the level will decrease. As for topping up the brake fluid to the level, there are a couple of nuances. It is forbidden to replenish the old TJ, since it is already contaminated with impurities, filled with air, moisture.

Original brake fluid Hyundai / Kia 0110000110 DOT 4, "BRAKE FLUID", 1 liter bottle, costs 1,450 rubles. You can use substitutes from other manufacturers Fenox SBF4010 "SBrake"; Hella-Pagid 8DF355360021 "BRAKE FLUID". The price will be in the range of 200-300 rubles per 1 liter.

Output

On the one hand, it is easy to replace brake fluid in Hyundai Solaris, especially for those who have already carried out such a process. For a beginner, this procedure may seem quite complicated to understand, and even more so for execution, therefore, in this case, it is recommended to contact a car service.

Replacing brake fluid in Solaris is a mandatory procedure that is performed every 2 years of vehicle operation or upon reaching 30 thousand kilometers. This recommendation is indicated in the service manual, which is mandatory for users and service centers.

Reasons for replacement

The need to replace brake fluid (TF) is due to several reasons. If a leak has occurred due to depressurization of the brake system, then before replenishing the volume to the required level, it is necessary to accurately determine the cause and eliminate it.

Leakage occurs in most cases due to the destruction of the rubber seals of the brake cylinder pistons or mechanical damage to the pipelines.

The technical fluid in the brake system is resistant to low temperatures. It also has a high boiling point, which exceeds 200 ° C. When braking, the unit heats up. Because of this, the temperature of the liquid rises, so its quality deteriorates significantly over time. In addition, the technical fluid is highly hygroscopic. These are the main reasons why a brake fluid replacement is required on Hyundai Solaris and other vehicles.

With an increased moisture content (more than 2%), the boiling point of the TFA decreases by 40 ° C. This is not critical for the operation of the braking system, but can cause the onset of a corrosion process on metal parts in contact with the fluid.

To measure the percentage of moisture in the brake fluid at professional service stations, a special device is used - a reflectometer. It indicates exactly when to change the brake fluid. In most cases, such research is not performed at unlicensed car service stations. Therefore, the traditional recommendation from specialists is to replace it on time.

The important question is, what kind of brake fluid is in Hyundai Solaris? A technical fluid named DOT-4 is poured into the brake system of cars that have come off the assembly line. It is marked Hyundai / Kia 01100-00110 BRAKE FLUID. It is this type that must be used when refilling or completely replacing.

Replacement procedure

The TAS replacement process is a painstaking procedure that requires adherence to an exact sequence. It can be performed using a compressor. In this case, the liquid is forcibly removed from the system. This will require an assistant. If you plan to replace it yourself, it is better that the liquid flows freely from the system.

From the special accessories, you will need a volumetric syringe for at least 150 ml and transparent hoses with an inner diameter that matches the size of the brake fittings. In order to change the brake fluid for Hyundai Solaris, you need to park the car on a level surface and remove the wheels. The order of work is as follows.

It is important that there is a constant, irreducible volume of DOT-4 brake fluid in the expansion tank. Otherwise, the brake system will be airy. If this happens, a mandatory procedure for removing air from the system is required. Due to the ingress of air, the brakes can seize at the very end when you press the pedal or completely disappear.

Before starting work, you need to know how much brake fluid you need to replace. Usually 1 liter of DOT-4 is sufficient. If you plan to replace it with another brand or DOT-5.1, then purchase an additional 0.5 liters of liquid, this will be quite enough.
