How to reset viburnum dashboard. Self-diagnosis of errors in the engine control unit Lada Kalina

Hello everyone today I will show you how to diagnose the instrument panel and see the error codes on Kalina. To do this, with the ignition off, press the button on the panel that is responsible for resetting the daily mileage. And turn on the ignition at the same time. Then the diagnostic mode starts. To see the error codes, you need to press the daily mileage reset button or the buttons under the steering switch on the right when the arrows are running. As a result, on the screen where the clock appears the firmware version and then the error codes.

Decoding of error codes in the dashboard Kalina

2-increased voltage of the on-board network;
3-error of the fuel level sensor (if an open circuit of the sensor is detected within 20 seconds);
4-error of the coolant temperature sensor (if an open circuit of the sensor is detected within 20 seconds);
5-error of the outside temperature sensor (if there are no sensor readings within 20 seconds, the display is "-C" on the LCD);
6-engine overheating (the criterion for triggering the acoustic signaling device is met);
7-emergency oil pressure (the criterion for the acoustic signaling device is fulfilled);
8-defect brake system (the criterion for triggering the acoustic signaling device is met);
9-accumulator battery discharged (the criterion for triggering the acoustic signaling device is fulfilled);
E-definition of an error in a data packet embedded in the EEPROM.

Instrument Panel Diagnostic Videos and Error Codes

The above video clip explains in accessible language how you can start the so-called test mode of the Kalina instrument cluster, as well as look at the current errors of the on-board computer that are stored in memory.

As for the decoding of these errors, for Kalina, however, as for the rest of the VAZ front-wheel-drive injection vehicles, they will be given a complete list below:

  • 2 - the voltage of the vehicle's on-board network is above normal
  • 3 - FLS error. It usually occurs if there was an open circuit signal on the fuel level sensor for more than 20 seconds.
  • 4 - the most common coolant sensor error
  • 5 - problems with the outside temperature, that is, with the sensor itself
  • 6 - occurs at a critical engine temperature. Stored in memory when the overheating buzzer is triggered
  • 7 - low pressure of the lubrication system
  • 8 - brake system problems. It can be fixed in the event that the lamp of insufficient brake fluid level often lights up
  • 9 - full discharge of the battery

As for my Kalina, I had 3 errors recorded in my memory: 4, 6 and 8. From the first, everything is clear, it lights up even on new cars, it is not clear, but why. The second arose when, in extreme heat, I had to trail behind a grader during renovation works... Fortunately, we quickly managed to get out of this "plug" and almost instantly cool the engine to normal temperature. I also wrote about the latter, since I had a problem with the float and the light bulb often burned as if there was no liquid.

The rest of the errors listed above, fortunately, were not on my Kalina. It is very easy to reset the readings by again pressing the daily mileage button.

Of course, many owners are aware of these instrument cluster modes. But still it will not be superfluous to test the BC before buying a new car. Suddenly you will see something interesting there, for example, about oil pressure or engine overheating.

Below will be a photo in the form of a table with the main malfunctions in the case of installing an additional on-board computer, for example, such as STATE.

Answer from sleigh[newbie]
i'm showing 4 error, i.e. the coolant fluid sensor. need to change the sensor?

Answer from Anton Zhuravlev[newbie]
i have a check on Kalina lit error 4 it affects that the stove does not heat well

Answer from Golden eagle[guru]
depending on what error.

Answer from ValtoBar[guru]
Checking the error codes of the instrument panel (has nothing to do with the engine!)
1. Initial position: ignition off, storage battery on.
2. While holding down the daily mileage reset button, turn on the ignition. All positions of familiarity (segments) should light up on the LCD, which indicates the beginning of self-testing.
3. Press any of the on-board computer control buttons. The LCD should indicate the software version (Ver 1.0 and higher).
4. Press any of the control buttons again. The positions of the first and second lines of the LCD should display the following error codes (if any):
2 - increased voltage of the on-board network;
3 - error of the fuel level sensor (if an open circuit of the sensor is detected within 20 seconds);
4 - error of the coolant temperature sensor (if an open circuit of the sensor is detected within 20 s);
5 - error of the outside temperature sensor (if there are no sensor readings within 20 seconds, LCD indication "-C");
6 - engine overheating (criterion for triggering the acoustic signaling device is met);
7 - emergency oil pressure (the criterion for the acoustic signaling device is fulfilled);
8 - defect in the brake system (the criterion for triggering the acoustic signaling device is met);
9 - the storage battery is discharged (the criterion for triggering the acoustic signaling device is fulfilled);
E - definition of an error in a data packet embedded in the EEPROM.
5. If necessary, you can reset the error information. To do this, press and hold the daily mileage reset button for 3 seconds.
6. Press any of the control buttons again. All positions of familiarity (segments) should light up on the LCD - the system returned to the state of point 2.
7. If you do not press any control buttons for about 15-30 seconds, the panel goes into working state.

Answer from D d[guru]
Oooo Kalina ....
Well, look, maybe it's really a mess with the liquid, no, the contacts on the sensor are stuck, the roofing felts are oxidized.
Check by the way the sensor itself and the fuses.

Note that, in addition to the dashboard, on this car it is possible to carry out diagnostics using separate controllers responsible for a particular system. Fault decoding is done using special software. However, many experienced mechanics know everything by heart. An error table helps motorists understand problems.

It is worth noting that self-diagnosis makes life easier for a car enthusiast and auto mechanic, since it is possible to exclude some malfunctions. For example, when code 0036 appears, the specialist will immediately understand that the problem is not in the motor, but in the heater control circuit. As a reminder, reference codes may change with the software version. Therefore, we recommend that you have an up-to-date table with codes nearby, because in the new version, the old code can mean something completely different.

How to reset error codes

After automatic diagnostics it is necessary to reset errors. This is done so that they do not interfere and do not confuse the user during subsequent diagnostics. How to reset everything, you can find out from the manufacturer's recommendations. But in practice, for example, an ECU error is cleared by running a new check on the dashboard. In the service station, the controllers are reset to zero in a slightly different order. There are other options:

  1. The ECU error is reset using the device and software. Therefore, we recommend that you stop by and check your car more often. It is during such checks that common breakdowns characteristic of this particular car can be found.
  2. The code 0171 may be constantly displayed. This indicates that the fuel is of poor quality. This signal is a reason to think about changing it.
  3. Other than that, the codes p1545, 0422 and 1426 are very common, so they are worth looking at. If after the reset they appear again, it is imperative to contact the technical service for more accurate diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Experts will help you sort out the problems if you yourself do not know how to get rid of them.

How to choose a service for diagnostics and resetting error codes

To date, there is a lot of data on the network on how to diagnose cars, repairs, etc. Accordingly, there are individual specialists and many private service stations who offer to diagnose a car using ECU codes. Note that almost 70% do not have a certificate from the manufacturer, which would confirm their qualifications and allow them to perform such work. Therefore, after visiting such institutions, there is a great risk of simply ruining the on-board computer.

Owners of domestic cars can find a problem in the car without any problems. This is made possible by using on-board computers and the introduction of modern equipment diagnostics tools. This article will describe in detail the errors and how to eliminate them VAZ 2110, 2112, 2114, Kalina, Priora and how to eliminate them.

How to independently diagnose a car

Take your time to go to the service center. Although specialists use stands to detect a malfunction, and their diagnosis is more accurate, nevertheless, every car owner is able to find out the cause of the problem using information about the error codes of the on-board computer.

To view the error codes recorded by the controller:

  1. Get behind the wheel, then press and hold the odometer button. It is located at the bottom of the dashboard.
  2. Turn the key in the lock to position "1". Release the button while turning the key. This will be followed by a quick set of readings on the instruments.
  3. Then press the button again: the display will show the firmware version of the controller.
  4. Finally, press the button the last, third, time to display the errors of the VAZ controller.

How to remove information about corrected errors from controller memory

Sometimes, after troubleshooting, error messages remain in memory and periodically appear on the panel.

To erase an error code from memory:

  • Write down and check the codes that appear for irrelevance.
  • Reset the daily mileage by pressing the corresponding button, after which the error code is guaranteed to be deleted from memory.

How to get rid of the "Check Engine" message

Occasionally, drivers will see a burning orange icon at the bottom of the dashboard. This is how the computer reports an engine malfunction. Self-diagnosis prevent the cause of the motor problem from being identified and corrected. However, the error is often shown on serviceable cars. Therefore, to reset the problem code:

  • Turn on the ignition, but do not start the car.
  • Open the hood and use a wrench to loosen and remove the negative terminal on the battery.
  • After a minute, return the terminal to its original position.
  • Close the hood and turn the ignition key to position "0".
  • Switch on the ignition again and start the engine. After a short time, the error should disappear.

If the above instructions did not help, it is worthwhile to carry out a more accurate diagnosis of the car at a service center in order to correct the malfunction at an early stage.
