Sandero road clearance. Renault Sandero ground clearance

Category:

A pair of Renault Logan / Sandero is consistently included in the cohort of the best-selling cars in our country. There are many reasons for this: relatively low cost, reliability, variety additional options, not bad driving performance and, of course, ground clearance. What is the height ground clearance in these cars?

In order to find out this information, we traditionally refer to the official website of Renault in Russia (renault.ru). For Logan, for Sandero, the ground clearance will be the same - 155 mm or 15.5 cm under load.

This means that theoretically, without load, it can be even higher.

Is 15.5 cm a lot or a little? This is enough. Most cars that are built with an eye to russian market, have a clearance of 14-16 cm, which is more than enough even for driving on bad roads. Some crossovers have even lower ground clearance - around 15 centimeters, but here we are talking about a sedan or a hatchback ...

By the way, some automotive publications intend even more. However, it is not known whether it is a loaded car or an empty one.

If you need a car with high ground clearance, but at the same time small (less than a crossover), pay your attention to Renault Sandero Stepway. This car can be called a hatchback and a small crossover at the same time. And all because it looks like a real SUV, albeit small. Not least of all, this is facilitated by the huge ground clearance - as much as 19.5 centimeters!

Dimensions of the new Renault Sandero differ little from the hatchback in the old body, but there are some differences. Although this is more likely due to the design features of the new body, the shape of the bumpers, the roof and so on. For example, we can even compare the sizes of the old and new Sandero.

First, we note the dimensions and volumes, which have not changed with the change of generations at Renault Sandero. First of all clearance of the new and old Renault Sandero remained unchanged and amounts to 155 mm. Luggage compartment also has the same parameters 320 liters (with folded rear seats 1200 liters). The Sandero gas tank still has a volume of 50 liters. Wheelbase, distance between front and rear axle remained practically unchanged. The old Sandero has 2588 mm, the new body has 2589 mm, whether you can feel this millimeter is unlikely.

Now let's talk about dimensions of Sandero, which still do not match the old and new Renault Sandero bodies. So the length of the hatchback has become longer, namely 4080 mm, against 4020 mm for the old body. The height and width, on the contrary, decreased by a few millimeters. The new Sandero is 11 mm lower and 13 mm narrower. As for the weight of the car, the weight of the old and new budget hatch from Renault is different, but the difference is only a few kilograms.

Dimensions, weight, volumes, ground clearance of the new Renault Sandero 2

  • Length - 4080 mm
  • Width - 1733 mm
  • Height - 1523 mm
  • Front track - 1497 mm
  • Back track - 1486 mm
  • Curb weight - 1044 kg with 1.2 liter engine
  • Curb weight - 1078 kg with a 1.6 liter engine (8-cl.)
  • Curb weight - 1104 kg with 1.6 liter engine (16-cl.)
  • Gross weight - 1510 kg with 1.2 liter engine
  • Gross weight - 1540 kg with a 1.6 liter engine (8-cl.)
  • Gross weight - 1560 kg with a 1.6 liter engine (16 cl.)
  • Base, distance between front and rear axle - 2589 mm
  • Trunk volume Renault Sandero - 320 liters
  • The volume of the trunk of Renault Sandero with the seats folded is 1200 liters
  • Volume fuel tank - 50 liters
  • Tire size - 185/65 R 15
  • Ground clearance or clearance Renault Sandero - 155 mm

It is worth noting that the manufacturer indicates a ground clearance of 155 mm, taking into account some vehicle load, that is, if you measure this indicator in an empty car, then the clearance will probably be higher. In addition, the weight of a car with a 1.2 liter engine is less than with a 1.6 liter engine. As for the size of the cabin, the inside of the updated Sandero differs little from its predecessor.

The closest family of cars from a technical point of view to Renault Sandero is the Logan model. The mass production of Sandero started in 2007, but the car itself and its subsequent modification Stepway were based on its base. The clearance of Renault Sandero or his brother Stepway is good news. Everything generation Renault Sandero is often compared to cars of the Logan family, including in matters of work with clearance due to a similar platform.

What are the features of the car

The Renault Sandero is a compact five-day hatchback. She proved to be excellent on the roads of moderate quality, which are found in our country quite often. This was made possible thanks to a fairly high ground clearance, which for this model is 155 millimeters. The Renault Sandero hatchback is on the market in the form of two generations of models. Although they differ in characteristics, they both have the same height. The car, despite having only one axle drive, is positioned as a crossover. The manufacturer calls this model a miniature SUV, referring to the body kit and high ground clearance of Renault Sandero 2016 and previous models. In general, the owners of this car agree with the statements of the automaker. But, nevertheless, for full use on rough terrain, the clearance height may not be enough.

Attractive ground clearance for all Renault Sandero models

The car in question is technically identical to its "predecessor" - the Logan model. They are 70 percent unified, which made finding parts for Sandero quite easy. The first generation of clearance for Sandero is found in three variations - Authentique, Prestige, Expression. The model supplied to the domestic market is additionally equipped with an engine sump protection. This, combined with a clearance height of 155 millimeters, made this car pretty attractive. The second generation of Sandero appeared on domestic market in 2014 and the changes therein concerned mainly driver comfort options. Of course, navigation and climate control is an important comfort feature for many drivers. But, not many car owners decided to exchange Renault Sandero for its second generation counterpart, because there were no special changes in their platform.

Renault Stepway ground clearance

The main feature of Renault clearance Sandero stepway was its increase in comparison with Sandero. What is interesting in this case is the numbers indicated by the manufacturer. It is impossible to answer unequivocally what is Sandero Stepway's clearance. It is between 175 and 195 millimeters. This discrepancy appeared as a result of the nature of his work. Stepway's ground clearance changes depending on the amount of cargo in it by 20 mm. In the lowest position, the vehicle's ground clearance is the same 20 mm higher than that of its predecessor. The first generation Stepway was designed for use in tough road conditions... This explains the increase in its ground clearance - the automaker has created a kind of budget mini-jeep. The design of the model turned out to be quite simple and even somewhat rude, but overall attractive. Indeed, with its main task, namely, comfortable travel on hard roads, the characteristics of the Sandero Stepway made it possible to cope perfectly.

The second generation of Sandero Stepway and its differences

The second generation Sandero Stepway had similar ground clearance parameters, including its function of "changing the clearance" depending on the load. Technically, the car platform remains the same. But, here's the body design has been significantly improved. The dimensions of the second generation model approached the parameters expensive crossovers and amounted to: - the length of the car increased to 408 cm; - the width of the Renault Sandero Stepway was 175 cm; - raised the height to 161 cm; - the weight of the model was an interesting value of 1111 kg. The Sandero Stepway body design update was driven by Renault's desire to expand its potential customer base. The car has become larger and more attractive in appearance, but from the technical point of view, it remains largely the same Stepway of the first generation.

Why is normal ground clearance important for a car?

Vehicle clearance is one of the important parametersthat you should pay attention to when buying it. The condition of domestic roads does not always allow the use of low-profile models. And in this situation, the loss of a bumper is not the greatest danger. Insufficient ground clearance may well cause failure power plant... And other important nodes, which on an uneven area due to a bump may well get mechanical damage, hitting the road surface. Therefore, many owners of Renault Sandero 2012 were worried about the increase in clearance. Often, special spacers were used for this. Also the most in simple ways Sandero's increased ground clearance is the replacement of rims and tires. By increasing their diameter, you can add a few centimeters to the ground clearance. True, this method is also one of the most expensive and has certain nuances. For example, larger-diameter discs do not always allow for increased ground clearance, since they use low-profile tires. And such a replacement will not lead to anything other than unnecessary costs and the appearance of a spare set of wheels in the garage.

Clearance Sandero and Sandero Stepway - comparison

The ground clearance of the Sandero Stepway model, as mentioned above, is 195 mm for an empty car and 175 mm for a loaded car, sufficient for most cases. With such indicators, a comfortable ride is possible even on a rather problematic road. The reduction in ride height seen in the Sandero model may already bring some worries to its owner. Sandero's stated ground clearance is 155 mm. But, as in the case of a taller brother Stepway, he is able to "walk" within a couple of centimeters, depending on the load of the car. And in this case, 155 mm turns into 135 mm. And this is not such a good indicator for a "crossover". Which logically makes the owner want to increase it to acceptable values. But this procedure is fraught with certain risks.

Increased clearance Sandero - possible risks

First of all, before starting to search for solutions to the issue of increasing the clearance, the driver should think about possible risks... This step carries with it several tangible troubles for which the motorist must be prepared. Consider possible options solutions to the problem of low clearance and the side effects they carry:

  1. Increase in ground clearance by replacing tires and wheels with similar ones with a larger diameter. This option allows you to "raise" the body above the road, but voids the manufacturer's warranty on the car.
  2. Increased ground clearance by replacing the spacers on the upper suspension springs. Allows you to add about 3 cm to its height, but also voids the warranty.
  3. The increase in ground clearance changes the picture of the rigidity and handling of the car, as well as its dynamics, regardless of the method of increasing the height.
  4. The efficiency and accuracy of speed sensors are changing.
  5. The center of gravity changes, which leads to difficulties in driving at high speeds.
  6. The process of adjusting the toe camber is complicated.
  7. An increase in fuel consumption is possible.

It is possible to recommend an increase in clearance based on the above number of side effects - only at the owner's own peril and risk. This procedure is justified for Sandero if the car is regularly used on bad roads and low speed.

Most of the owners of popular French cars Renault Sandero of 2015 release. after a while, desire appears. What is the clearance standard machine? It is 155mm. Often this very height is quite enough to fully drive without any inconvenience. On city roads and streets while driving, such a ground clearance does not interfere either. IN rare cases problems can arise if you are moving, a large speed bump, or trying to drive onto a high curb.

When driving in rough or rural areas, this problem of Renault Sandero gets worse. With such a ride, the 155mm ground clearance is clearly not enough to calmly overcome all kinds of obstacles. And then drivers begin to think about how to increase the ride height of their car.

Everything is clear and understandable here, the high ground clearance allows Renault Sandero drivers to calmly overcome bad roads. For example, fishermen who drive this model of the French car industry complain to specialists that the car cannot go on a rural road at all.

How to increase by this car ground clearance? There are several ways to solve this problem. So, first you need to put wheels with a larger diameter, or install special spacers on the upper support of the standard shock absorber spring.

It is possible to use pneumatic cushions for the Renault Sandero car. This option seems very convenient to many, but at the same time it is the most expensive. Here's an example, while you are driving over rough terrain, turning on the pneumatics and absolutely not worrying about anything. After you enter the asphalt road, the car automatically rebuilds to its standard springs. Raising the ground clearance, thus, is a very laborious process, since not only the pneumatics itself is involved here, but as you understand, also on-board computer and other infrastructure.

In addition, we note that all the solutions presented above can negatively affect the warranty of your beloved car. It may happen that after you have changed the car and it is under warranty, official dealer may refuse to repair. If your model is 2015. release is already without a guarantee, then you have nothing to fear.

Installing rubber

We inform you that this method, together with installation on a car, allows you to increase the ground clearance. It is likely that such measures will not give sufficient results. Installing large (out-of-range) wheels on a Renault Sandero car from France can quickly get you into such trouble that the tires start to brush against the wheel arches when cornering. Plus, on top of everything else, the controllability of the car may deteriorate at times. Always remember that of. the manufacturer generally does not recommend installing on the model wheels that go beyond the designation.

This method of increasing ground clearance can still be used along with the installation of completely new racks of the largest diameter. And in this way, the car wheels will not touch the wheel arches, and the most interesting thing is that the clearance will certainly increase. This is the easiest way that satisfies the request of car owners - how to increase this parameter. Do not forget that this method for raising the clearance requires some costs. Therefore, some car owners will have to consider installing this part on the direct upper support of the shock absorber spring of the "Frenchman" Renault Sandero.

Installation of spacers

With what clearance can you safely drive on a country road? Higher than standard. Therefore, this article is devoted to how to increase the clearance on a French-made Renault Sandero car, while not changing specifications... When installing special home-made spacers in your car, never forget that there is a so-called maximum angle, in fact, to which the CV joint is able to deviate directly. In turn, the installation of such a large part can damage this same CV joint, which will entail its replacement. Most motorists noted that raising the car by 30mm does not in any way negatively affect the general condition of the CV joint. But if you want a car with the highest ground clearance, then be prepared to damage the CV joint itself accordingly.

To check, on a car jack you can and even need to hang out for a start front wheel... You will immediately see at what angle the CV joint has deviated to the maximum. And already in this way, it is easier to pick up a part of the required dimensions, which will solve all problems with clearance, and will not cause any damage to the chassis.

How to increase the clearance with spacers is clear. These spacers can be carved on your own according to special drawings, which can be bought in stores or searched on the Internet. So for renault car Sandero 2015 release for rear springs models are suitable:

For the front springs, use the following models:

Note also that it is best to install parts to raise the clearance of a car of the same size. Otherwise, your Renault Sandero will lose its proper handling.

Installation

To install the spacers, you need special tools, which it is better to stock up in advance, so that you do not waste time later.
The installation process will take you about 3 hours. The accompanying tools will come in handy, in particular you will need the following: 2 nuts 14mm, box or regular open-end wrenches 17mm, head for the following dimensions: 27/21/16 / 13mm, spring tie. It is imperative not to accidentally pull off the passing wire aBS systems while removing the rack.

So, the car should be put on the so-called parking brake, and stops under the wheels themselves. Then we put a jack under it in order to calmly and correctly remove the wheel. After that, having loosened the topmost nut, we dismantle the rack itself. And at the same time, it is important to clamp the spring, otherwise it may jump out. Otherwise, you can severely damage a part of the car or get the most serious injury.

Then we disassemble the rack. For this we use the most common 6mm hexagon and 27mm wrench. After disassembling, the selected part is placed on the spring bowl. Depending on the height of our finished additional element, the very thread of the so-called stem can, of course, become less precisely by this height. Then a 14mm nut will come in handy, in this case there may be a nut from a VAZ. The thing is that the native nut at the very bottom has a special rim that will prevent you from baiting the nut itself.

Then everything needs to be assembled in reverse order. Subsequently, exactly the same procedure is done with the rest of the wheels. As a result, you will get a car with what clearance you want. In this case, the cost of the part will be less than what you pay for new large diameter wheels. Plus, the technical specifications will remain unchanged. This method is most preferred to increase the lumen. Moreover, you can do everything yourself.

What are the results

Most of the Sandero owners from 2015 say that the method described by us in the article is now really the most effective. The very difference in clearance can become really noticeable for everyone. All the more, the difference will be felt when you drive onto high curbs or leave the city. We also add that the car after this manipulation may change its driving properties, but for the most part, raising the clearance does not affect handling.

Spacers for "Frenchman" can be used even with large racks. All this will allow you to lift the car well. Also, the use of spacers on the car will not in any way affect the condition of the standard shock absorbers.

The popularity of Renault Sandero Stepway is growing every day. The car from the French concern is preferred not only by married couples, but also by young, ambitious people who want to emphasize their individuality. Convenience and comfort are the main things that attracts family people to Renault Sandero Stepway. These characteristics of the car are not limited only in urban conditions, as the "Frenchman" copes well with off-road, while maintaining the calmness and confidence of the driver. When it comes to conquering off-road conditions, one of the most important characteristics of a car is ground clearance. Let's try to figure it out: does Renault Sandero Stepway's clearance allow you to conquer country "roads"?

Renault Sandero Stepway: what makes the car unique?

The clearance of the Renault Sandero Stepway has been increased by 2 centimeters compared to the Renault Sandero. Now the ground clearance is as much as 175 millimeters. But that's not all. The uniqueness of the novelty lies in the fact that Renault Sandero Stepway has practically no competitors on the market. If they are, then either these cars are too expensive, or unprepared for attacks of curbs and off-road. We have that the French car is unique in its kind, in its price segment.

Of course, you can feel confident on such a car. In the city, it is constantly necessary to jump onto the curb to park a car. The Sandero Stepway's ground clearance allows you to feel comfortable in these situations. But, as for trips out of town, 175-mm ground clearance is not always enough. What should all those who want to use the Renault Sandero Stepway to do off-road? There is a solution - an increase in ground clearance.

Ways to increase ground clearance on a car

To start looking down at the world, sitting in the driver's seat of Sandero Stepway, today there are two ways to raise the car:

  1. "Shoe" the vehicle in rubber with a large profile.
  2. Install turn-to-turn spacers.

However, it should be remembered that any manipulations with vehicle, one way or another, will affect the behavior of the car on the road. The first method is the most loyal and secure. All that is required is to install the wheels. bigger size... This method does not provide for a significant increase in ground clearance, but it will turn out to slightly raise the car. However, there is also a significant drawback. A car on which rubber with a large profile is installed will literally "catch" all the bumps and holes on the road. For those with spinal problems, this method will not work. You should use the second option.

By installing spacers on the upper suspension springs, the ground clearance can be increased by as much as 30 mm. In this case, there are clearly advantages, because the suspension performance will significantly improve, and the springs themselves will serve for a long time. The springs will not undergo increased wear due to settlement. Front suspension spacers are usually homemade. For rear suspension spacers are taken from other car models.

If you have new car, it should be understood that the installation of spacers removes the vehicle from the warranty. The increase in clearance is not limited only to the above operations. A number of precautions must be taken to ensure that your pet will behave appropriately after the intervention. If you have increased the clearance of your Renault Sandero Stepway, then be sure to do the camber. So you can be sure that everything was done correctly, the car will maintain control on the road. It is also worth correcting the light distribution if there is no automatic corrector. This is extremely important, because incorrect light distribution will entail the fact that the headlights of your car will blind the drivers of oncoming cars.

Increasing the ground clearance of the Renault Sandero Stepway is not so difficult. If you want to make a real SUV out of your car, conquer the most severe country roads, then feel free to adopt any method. But firmly remember that you need to carefully check your car for stable handling after any kind of intervention.
