How often to change engine oil VAZ 2131. Used (operating) fluids and filling volumes

Engine oil must be replaced every 10,000 km.
For a new car, it is necessary to change the oil after the end of the running-in (after 2500 km). When changing the oil, be sure to install a new one oil filter (engine ZMZ-4062) or its filter element (all engines). Oil change procedure see subsections 2.3.2, 2.3.2.2 and 2.3.3.3 .

Into the crankcase it is recommended to fill in oil of the same brand as was in the engine. If you fill in another brand of oil, you must first flush the engine lubrication system with the oil of the brand that will be filled in the engine. To do this, drain the old oil, fill in new oil 2–4 mm above the "0" mark on the oil level indicator (dipstick). Start the engine and let it run for idling about 10 min. Then drain the oil, replace the oil filter or its filter element and fill with fresh oil.

Coolant must be changed once every 2 years or after 60,000 km (whichever comes first). Coolant replacement procedure see subsection 2.4.4... It should be borne in mind that the coolant is poisonous, so it should not be sucked in by mouth when pouring. When working with coolant, it is recommended to wear protective goggles and not to smoke or eat. If liquid comes into contact with exposed skin, wash with soap and water.

Gearbox oil must be replaced after 60,000 km. Oil change procedure see subsections 3.3.2 and 3.4.2 ... Every 20,000 km, check the oil level in the gearbox and top up if necessary. The oil level in the crankcase must reach the edge of the filler hole. If the drained oil contains metal particles or is very dirty, flush the box. To do this, pour 0.9 liters of fresh oil into its crankcase. Jack up the rear of the vehicle. Start the engine and, engaging first gear, let it run for 2–3 minutes. Then drain the oil and refill with fresh oil. When checking the oil level, you need to clean the surface of the breather from dirt and turn its cap several times to remove dirt that has got under it.

Crankcase oil rear axle must be changed after 60,000 km. The oil is changed in the same way as in the gearbox. After 20,000 km, check the oil level in the crankcase and top up if necessary. The oil level should be up to the edge of the filler hole. When checking the oil level, the breather must be cleaned of dirt in the same way as was done for the gearbox.

Warning

Do not use re-drained brake fluid.

Brake fluid the clutch and brake drives must be replaced every 2 years, regardless of the vehicle mileage. Brake fluids used in clutch and brake drives domestic production "Rosa", "Rosa-3", "Tom", "Neva" or their foreign counterparts on a non-oil basis, the quality level of which is not lower than dot-3. Use other brands of fluids, especially petroleum based fluids, prohibited.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic and cannot be stored in an open container.

The procedure for replacing the brake fluid is as follows:

1. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir cover.

2. Remove the rubber protective caps from the air release valves on the wheel cylinders and put rubber hoses on the valves, the ends of which are lowered into glass containers.

3. Unscrew the valves no more than one turn and, pressing the brake pedal all the way down, drain the fluid. Tighten the air release valves as soon as fluid from the hoses stops flowing.

4. Pour the drained brake fluid from the vessels and put them in place.

5. Pour fresh fluid into the master cylinder reservoir, unscrew all air release valves one turn and, pressing the brake pedal all the way down, fill the brake system. In this case, it is necessary to constantly add fluid to the master cylinder reservoir. After clean brake fluid begins to flow out of the hoses fitted to the air release valves, tighten the valves.

6. Bleed the brake system to remove air from it ( see subsection 6.9).

7. Close the brake master cylinder reservoir with a plug. Remove hoses from air release valves and put protective caps on them.

In the same way, replace the fluid in the clutch hydraulic drive.

The frequency of changing the oil in the Niva 21213 (21214) engine and other modifications is at least once every 15,000 km. This is the period that Avtovaz's regulations assume. But it is best to do this at least once every 10,000 km, or even 7500 km.

In order to change the oil in the Niva engine, we need:

  • Fresh oil canister at least 4 liters
  • Funnel
  • new oil filter
  • a hexagon for 12 or a key for 17 (depending on which plug you have installed)
  • filter remover (possible without it in 90% of cases)

First of all, we warm up the car engine to a temperature of at least 50-60 degrees, so that the oil becomes more fluid. Then we substitute the drain container under the pallet and unscrew the cork:

After all the mining has been drained from the engine sump, you can unscrew the oil filter:

If you decide to change mineral water to synthetics, then it is advisable to flush the internal combustion engine. If the type of oil has not changed, then it can be changed without flushing.

Now we twist back the sump plug and take out a new oil filter. Then we pour oil into it, about half of its capacity, and be sure to lubricate the sealing gum:

And you can install a new filter in its original place, it is advisable to do it quickly so that excess oil does not flow out of it:

It is better not to pour out the entire canister at once, but leave at least half a liter, and top up only after making sure that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick:

After that we twist the filler cap and start the engine. The first couple of seconds the oil pressure light may be on, and then it will go out by itself. This is normal and there is nothing to worry about! Do not forget to replace on time - this will extend the life of your engine.

As a rule, drivers make oil changes in power unit, that is, the engine on a Vaz Niva 2121 and 2131 car according to the map technical inspection or directly twice a year before the winter and summer season. In winter, an oil of a lower viscosity is required so that during low temperatures it warms up faster and becomes the desired viscosity. These works are most conveniently done if the car is driven into a viewing pit or overpass, and if possible, you can use a lift. Prepare an empty container where the used oil will be drained. Next, you need a special hex key to unscrew the drain plug of the engine sump, as well as a standard set of tools to remove the engine protection. If everything you need is present, do the following sequence of actions:

Having driven the car into the inspection pit, we dismantle the engine protective mudguard. To do this, unscrew the screws for attaching it to the body partitions around the perimeter and carefully remove it.

Unscrew with a special hex wrench drain plug the crankcase, the plug and the surface of the crankcase itself must be cleaned of dirt. And we drain the used oil from the engine. Before draining the oil, the engine must be warmed up for five minutes so that the oil becomes hot and, as a result, more viscous, which means it will drain better from the walls of the engine.

Now you need to dismantle the oil filter. To do this, grab it with a special key and unscrew it. The filter changes every 10,000 km. If the filter has already been changed earlier and has not exhausted its resource, and the replaced oil in the engine will be filled with the same brand, then there is no need to dismantle it.

We install a new filter in the reverse order; first, it is necessary to fill it with oil to such an extent until it is full, while waiting a couple of minutes until the filter element itself is saturated.

Fill in new oil. To do this, unscrew the filler plug of the cylinder head cover.

We control the oil level in the engine crankcase using a dipstick, which we remove from the guide tube and wipe it with a clean cloth, put it back in place and take it out. Normal is the level between the high and low marks.

On this renovation work on completed. The subsequent assembly of all removed elements is carried out in the reverse order.

Of personal experience operation, it is better to change the oil at least after 10,000 km, and sometimes it can be even more often if your Niva is very often used off-road and the engine is running at high speeds. The following tools are required to change the engine oil:

  1. Hexagon for unscrewing the drain plug
  2. Oil filter remover - if you can't unscrew it by hand.

The first step is to unscrew the filler cap and remove the dipstick for checking the engine oil level:

After that, we find any unnecessary container for draining the mining, so that it is at least 4 liters in volume and substitute it under the pallet where the oil drain plug is located.

And we unscrew the drain plug, which requires a 12 hexagon.

Now that all the glass has been worked out, you can unscrew the oil filter by hand. If this was not done, then you need to use a special puller.

Then we take a new filter and pour some fresh oil into it, and grease the gum. We twist the plug into the engine sump and install a new filter, tightening it strictly by hand without any tools.

Now you can pour through the neck into valve cover required amount of engine oil:

And the final step of the given maintenance - This is a level check on the dipstick. It should be between the MIN and MAX marks:

If everything is normal, you can start the engine and make sure that the oil pressure is normal, the emergency pressure lamp should go out within a couple of seconds. If someone wants to follow the procedure, as the manufacturer prescribes, then you can also buy a special engine wash flushing oil... But personally, I have never bothered with this procedure and without this engine we went 300,000 km without major repairs.
