Audi TT red. New Audi TT RS: smoke without fire

Audi chose the Beijing Auto Show of the sixteenth year as the site for the premiere of the "charged" TT RS model in the new 8S body, and the Germans brought both a coupe and a roadster to China at the same time.

Unlike standard generation, the TT RS version is distinguished by a more aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes, a splitter and a redesigned radiator grille with silver trim and quattro lettering.

S tronic - 7-speed robot, quattro - four-wheel drive

Behind new model 2018-2019 Audi TT RS gives out static wing, bumper diffuser and large oval tailpipes exhaust system... In addition, the new product has detached carbon fiber rear-view mirror housings and 19-inch wheel disks original design (by the way, very controversial).

Inside, the Audi TT RS in a new body flaunts sports leather seats with contrasting stitching and RS badges, metal pedal pads, carbon fiber trim inserts and a multifunction sports steering wheel with a truncated rim and buttons for selecting operating modes for the drive select control electronics. ...

A 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine remains under the hood, but the engine has got a new aluminum block to replace the old steel one. This made it possible to reduce the mass of the power unit by 10 kg, as well as increase its output by 60 forces. So now it produces exactly 400 "horses" and 480 Nm of torque at its peak.

Unlike the previous generation car, which could be ordered with a manual transmission, the new Audi TT RS 2017 is offered exclusively in conjunction with a 7-band S tronic robot with two clutches. The quattro permanent all-wheel drive has a multi-plate clutch that freely distributes traction between the axles.

From zero to hundreds of Audi TT RS Coupe accelerates in 3.7 seconds, and the Roadster does it in 0.2 seconds. longer. For comparison, the first-generation 540-horsepower R8 supercar reaches its top 100 in 3.5 seconds. Probably, the upcoming modification of the TT RS plus (about 420 hp is expected in it) will reach this figure. Maximum speed Coupe and Roadster are limited at around 250 km / h.

Among the others technical features the models feature a 10 mm lowered sports suspension, adaptive shock absorbers with magnetorheological fluid and reinforced brakes with 370 mm discs. At the same time, carbon-ceramic mechanisms, 20-inch wheels, an adjustable rear spoiler instead of a static one, matrix diode head optics and taillights with 3D effect on organic light-emitting diodes (OLED).

Sales of the new Audi TT RS (8S) in Europe started in autumn 2016 at a price of 66,400 euros for a coupe and from € 69,200 for a roadster. In Russia, the model appeared in March 2017 (so far only with a hard top), the minimum cost of a sports car in the Touring configuration is 4,633,000 rubles, and for the top version of the Track it is necessary to pay from 4,972,000 rubles.

The equipment of the first includes LED matrix head optics, leather interior, electric front seats, a rear view camera and a system automatic parking... The Track version flaunts the presence of carbon fiber inserts on the body, OLED rear lights on organic diodes, a sports exhaust, adaptive suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers and a collar weakened to 280 km / h at the top speed limiter.

The Audi TT RS debuted at the annual Beijing International Auto Show in 2016. The novelty is a heated version of the third generation TT. It is not difficult to distinguish it from the civilian version. The sports model has 19-inch wheels with a unique design, carbon fiber side mirrors, a small wing on the trunk lid, an interior with carbon and metal inserts, a steering wheel with a truncated rim and of course a more aggressive body kit. A large radiator grill, consisting of many large hexagonal cells, is striking. A small nameplate is located on it, indicating a sports pedigree. Below, along the edges of the front bumper, are two predatory air intakes. They are also covered with plastic mesh and give the vehicle a fast appearance... In general, the design of the novelty perfectly emphasizes its inner content.

Dimensions Audi TT RS

The Audi TT RS is available as a coupe and a roadster. In the first embodiment, dimensions new items are: length 4191 mm, width 1832 mm, height 1344 mm, wheelbase 2505 mm, and the size ground clearance will be 120 millimeters, which is 10 mm lower than the standard version. This clearance is typical of vehicles designed for extreme driving... They hold the road perfectly, do not lose stability on high speeds, and most importantly, they are less prone to rolling over due to a low center of gravity.

Audi TT RS has a good trunk for sports car... In the coupe, with the backs of the second row of seats raised, 305 liters of free space remain in the back. Thanks to this volume, the car will perfectly cope with the daily tasks of a city dweller. If, on a whim of fate, the owner has to take on board a larger cargo, he will always be able to fold the backrests of the rear row and release up to 712 liters.

engine and transmission Audi TT RS

Audi TT RS is equipped with one power unit, seven-speed robotic box gears with two clutches and a proprietary system all-wheel drive... From now on, mechanical box gear is not available for this model. Although the manufacturer no longer produces alternative options transmissions, the presented units are quite versatile and capable of satisfying most of the requests of a potential buyer.

The engine of the Audi TT RS is an in-line turbocharged petrol five-cylinder power unit a volume of 2480 cubic centimeters. He received a new aluminum block, which reduced the weight by 10 kilograms. Thanks to this innovation, an innovative valve timing mechanism, direct fuel injection and a turbocharger, the engineers managed to squeeze 400 horse power in the range from 5850 to 7000 rpm and 480 Nm of torque from 1700 to 5850 rpm crankshaft per minute. With such a herd under the hood, the coupe takes off from zero to a hundred in 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kilometers per hour. Despite the high powerful and amazing dynamics, the car is quite economical. The fuel consumption of the Audi TT RS will be 11.3 liters of gasoline per hundred kilometers at an urban pace with frequent acceleration and braking, 6.4 liters during a measured trip on the highway and 8.2 liters of fuel per hundred in the combined driving cycle.

Outcome

The Audi TT RS keeps pace with the times. She has an aggressive and impetuous design, which perfectly emphasizes the character and status of its owner in society. Such a car will never dissolve in the gray everyday stream and will always be in the spotlight. Salon is a kingdom of high-quality finishing materials, verified ergonomics and comfort. Despite the sporty nature of the model, even a long trip will not be able to bring unnecessary inconvenience. The manufacturer is well aware that, first of all, the car should give you driving pleasure. That is why, under the hood of the car there is a powerful and modern power unit, which is a fusion of innovative technologies and legendary German quality. Audi TT RS will serve for many kilometers and will give unforgettable emotions from the trip.

Quick jump to sections

Audi TT RS is a model that carries the proprietary genes of its automaker, most accurately reflecting the approach and philosophy of its company in the automotive industry. Of course, this Audi TT RS cannot be called mass, nevertheless, the interest shown by experts and "amateurs" not just with a breeze, but with the speed of lightning, has long acquired the scale of an epidemic.

Audi TT RS makes the first hundred kilometers an hour in 3.7 seconds, this is when it comes to how fast it goes new audi TT RS. If we consider the question of what the TT RS Audi looks like, then one thing can be said: restrained. He does not shout about his charge, he calmly declares this with huge air intakes on front bumper, wheels of unimaginable diameter, a wing on the trunk, carbon body elements and a lot of characteristic nuances.

So that those around them have no doubts about what exactly is in front of them, in addition to body and aerodynamic elements, Audi provided the coupe with visual cues in the form of visual cues scattered in different places of the body in the form of TT RS Audi inscriptions.

On the race track

During the test drive, the Audi TT RS managed to visit several of its supposed habitats. Which of them can and should be considered his natural element? A racing track, of course. A challenging track and this technically incredibly progressive car are made for each other.

The new TT RS Audi has got a really serious engine. Despite the rather microscopic volume for a sports car, only 2.5 liters, this is the legendary five-cylinder gasoline engine from Audi, now producing 400 hp and 480 Nm, available in the 1800 - 6000 rpm range, that is, almost always.

Video review TT RS Audi

The engine, along with an advanced chassis, intelligent all-wheel drive and a perfectly tuned gearbox, are the main advantages of the new Audi TT RS. In different versions, this motor has become best engine years in category 2 - 2.5 liters.

Most of the engine is made of aluminum and magnesium, resulting in a weight reduction of over 20 kg compared to the previous version of this engine. It would seem that all this power will lead to the fact that in the end the car will begin to fly off the track at every turn. But nevertheless, with all four wheels it holds onto the asphalt of the track. The answer to the question "how does he do it?" lies in the Quattro transmission.

In the TT RS Audi, perhaps like no other car from Ingolstadt, the work of the all-wheel drive is brought to perfection. A multitude of sensors continuously transmit information about speed, behavior of wheels, body, steering wheel and other and other parameters to the superbrain of the new coupe. He, in turn, instantly change the stiffness of the shock absorbers and the balance of traction between the axles. It even briefly brakes the right wheels for better cornering. This work is done every second while the car is in motion.

In the entire history of the penultimate modification of the TT RS, Audi has sold only seven thousand cars. That's not a lot. Only truly sophisticated people can entrust themselves to this Audi TT RS, which takes turns very nice and pleasant. The ceramic brakes of the TT RS, which are also 14 kg lighter than conventional brakes, offer amazing performance. And about the sound in Audi they say that they made the most delicious-sounding five-cylinder engine in the world. In addition, if it seems to someone that what he hears behind him is not enough, then in this case there is a special button near the gear lever that activates a sports exhaust that can cause the envy of others.

Exterior and interior

With all its appearance and character, the new TT RS Audi seems to declare: I am just like them, real sports cars, but much cheaper. Plus, he has a trunk. Even in the four-seater version, it has 305 liters of free space, slightly less than a typical representative of the family golf class.

Since it would never occur to anyone to plant on backseat TT RS Audi of living people, you can safely recline the back of the back sofa and get an impressive 712 liters, capable of accommodating everything that people usually carry in a large family crossover. It is unlikely that you can find something similar in the world of sports coupes.

On ordinary roads

How comfortable does this sports car feel among the uninteresting and sluggish hulks that inhabit public roads? Driving a TT RS Audi in the city isn't easy, it's too gambling. The roar of the engine is good on the track, but in urban conditions it only noticeably complicates the perception of any other sounds. In addition, the adaptive suspension of the TT RS Audi is hardly comfortable, and driving through a speed bump turns into a real adventure for the driver's spine. Not many people in the city will be able to use this sports car every day.

A compromise that allows the driver to enjoy the perfectly tuned chassis and great engine of Audi's new TT RS might be a scenic mountain road, provided it is relatively deserted. There, a sharp steering wheel, four-wheel drive and a powerful motor will allow you to truly enjoy driving on a twisty road. On it, the Audi TT RS literally pulls itself into a turn. Four-wheel drive does not allow the driver to misbehave, but at the same time leaving the opportunity for gambling taxiing. In similar road conditions the maximum speed is not so important as the power, and most importantly - the torque, for the transmission of which one of the best boxes gears - 7-speed and very agile Stronic.

For the distribution of the moment along the axes, one of the better systems all-wheel drive Quattro from Audi. As a result, we get almost limitless possibilities for dynamics, not only on the approach to the bend, but also in the bend and at the exit. At the same time, the driver has absolute control over the vehicle. It's not just a pleasant sensation, it's an exhilarating, almost arousing feeling of control. The only limitation that will have to be faced in these conditions is the instinct of self-preservation and the capabilities of the vestibular apparatus, because the technical capabilities of the Audi TT RS absolutely exceed the physical capabilities of a person.

What else do you like about the Audi TT RS? Having reached almost the pinnacle of its technical development, it seems to take another step up, presenting a version of the roadster, which has all the advantages of a coupe and a soft roof, which, as it turned out, can become a serious problem. The fact is that the retractable roof eats up almost all the space in the trunk, there is hardly enough free space in it for one sports bag. However, you don't have to worry about this, for russian market it will not be presented.

Price TT RS Audi

The Russian price tag TT RS Audi starts at 4,500,000 rubles. This is for the original model. The cost of a sports coupe enriched with various options, this figure has not yet been announced by dealers. Of course, among the products of the big German three, you can find a bigger, more practical and affordable car, but in terms of charisma, any of them will definitely be inferior to the small TT RS Audi.

In 2016, at the Beijing Motor Show, Audi presented a new development of the quattro GmbH division - the new generation Audi TT RS 2018-2019. New body The 8S was brought to the Beijing exhibition in a coupe and convertible version with a soft roof. Let's understand all the innovations of the second generation.

Design

You can discuss the visual part from two sides: talk about the differences from, or discuss the differences from the civil model in. There are no differences from its predecessor in the shape of the body, but a completely different design is created in detail, so it is not difficult to identify the car.

At the front, the charged version immediately gives itself out as another aggressive bumper with large air intakes and a chrome trim on the radiator grille with quattro stamping. On the side, you can distinguish silver rear-view mirrors and stunning 19-inch wheels.

The fodder of the coupe and roadster is distinguished by the absence of a retractable spoiler, they installed the usual one. The bumper is no different, but in its lower part 2 oval exhaust pipes appeared under the chrome insert. The diffuser is also considered an attractive element.

Let's take a look at the new TT RS dimensions:

  • length - 4191 mm;
  • width - 1832 mm;
  • height - 1344 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2505 mm;
  • ground clearance - 120 mm.

The roadster is 2 mm higher, in other planes everything is the same.

Salon

By purchasing new sports car from the usual TT in the cabin, you will differ only in the seats and the steering wheel. Nothing remains of the previous generation, everything has been redesigned. You will be in leather bucket seats with active lateral support, electrically adjustable and glossy plastic pads on the sides. At the back there are two places without retention elements and in general there is not much space there.

The interior has a lot of fine nappa leather with diamond stitching, Alcantara and rarely carbon inserts. The beveled steering wheel 3-spoke steering wheel received more than 15 buttons on 2 chrome-plated spokes.

The dashboard of the Audi TT RS is represented by the display of the MMI Radio multimedia system. This is where data about the vehicle is displayed, including the current speed, and data from navigation, audio systems, etc. are also displayed here. There is no familiar display on the center console.

The minimalism of the center console is surprising, because it is represented by several buttons and air deflectors. The surprising part is the deflectors themselves, there is general climate control, and there is a small washer on each of the three deflectors in the center, which is set to the settings. Left adjustable temp, center temperature, right direction.

The gradually ascending tunnel received decorative inserts Aluminum Race, optionally replaced by carbon. The gear selector, compared with its predecessor, is somewhat closer to the torpedo. Behind the selector is a multimedia puck with additional buttons and joysticks. The parking brake is locked with a button.

The trunk of the TT RS 2018-2019 in 302 liters is acceptable for bags with things, it makes no sense to carry something else in a sports car. Even the ability to fold the seats and get 712 liters is amazing. What for? The roadster will have 280 liters and rear backrests do not recline.

Specifications

The novelty is equipped with a new 2.5-liter TFSI engine. It is a 5-cylinder turbo unit with direct fuel injection. The output was 400 horsepower at 5850 rpm and 480 H * m of torque at 1700 rpm - almost from idle.

The pair is a 7-speed robotic S-Tronic with multiple clutches. The torque is distributed along the axles in different proportions, controlled by an all-wheel drive system with a Haldex clutch.

Now for dynamic indicators. The coupe picks up a speed of 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and electronically limits the maximum speed to 250 km / h. Roadster, due to the weight of 90 kg more and worse aerodynamics, gains a hundred square meters in 3.9 seconds, the maximum speed is also limited. When the restriction is lifted, 280 km / h is reached. Passport consumption figures look false - 11 liters of AI-98 in the city and 8 on the highway, perhaps not using the Audi TT RS (8S) as a sports car, driving as calmly as possible, such figures are achieved, but we are not sure.

The platform implies a system on the front axle and a multi-link scheme at the rear, adaptive shock absorbers are located in a circle. The handling is simply indescribable, due to the layout, shock absorbers and electronic assistants, the car is screwed into turns without the rear axle drifting.

The braking system copes with its task, discs 370 mm and 310 mm, front and rear, respectively, with single-piston calipers, brakes gorgeous. Ventilation is present only at the front, which is a bit upsetting. More efficient ceramics can be supplied as an option.

Price

Russian buyers are offered only the coupe version with a minimum base price tag of 4,962,000 rubles. For a minimal cost, the owner will receive climate control, a tire pressure sensor, 19-inch wheels, combined interior upholstery, 8 Audi sound system speakers, LED optics, rain and light sensors, TT RS electrically adjustable seats, lane control and parking assist functions.

The German manufacturer offers an extensive list of options:

  • matrix optics - 64,000 rubles;
  • leather seat upholstery - 62,000 rubles;
  • carbon inserts - 59,000 rubles;
  • iCE carbon casing - 42,000 rubles;
  • color of mirrors in body color - 7,000 rubles;
  • carbon mirrors - 98,000 rubles;
  • rear window tinting - 29,000 rubles;
  • electrically adjustable and heated mirrors - 14,000 rubles;
  • MMI Navigation plus - 129,000 rubles;
  • smartphone interface - 24,000 rubles;
  • bang & Olufsen audio system - 59,000 rubles;
  • rear view camera - 38,000 rubles;
  • anti-skid function - 5,000 rubles;
  • cruise control - 21,000 rubles;
  • suspension RS sport plus - 63,000 rubles;
  • ceramic brakes - 326,000 rubles;
  • sports exhaust - 70,000 rubles;
  • the color of the calipers in red - 23,000 rubles;
  • lifting the maximum speed limit - 105,000 rubles.

This is not the whole list, even pencil bags and flashlights offer. The final cost, with all the options, easily exceeds 6 million rubles.

As a result, for the Audi TT RS 2018-2019, I want to say that it has become much better than its predecessor. This is noticeable in the design of the exterior and interior, also noticeably improved specifications... Should you buy it yourself? Most likely not, the civilian version easily copes with attracting glances and giving back emotions, if it is not enough, that is. This car is exclusively for aggressive sports driving, for nothing else.

Video

I rush along the covered serpentine, I stop - and I can't believe my eyes: smoke is coming from the front shoes! Why would? The brakes are here oh-ho-ho! The rear brake discs are larger than the front ones on Kalina, and in front there are quite hefty "pancakes". But even 370mm cast iron discs with eight-piston calipers are not enough for such aggressive driving - overheating! I give up the steering wheel to a colleague, who first cools the mechanisms in a calm mode, and only then rushes to attack the turns.

In the studs, the coupe rests against the front axle, but under the thrust, the fifth-generation Haldex clutch discs are compressed under a pressure of 40 bar - and in the middle of the turn the "ereska" begins to turn. The understeer is felt much more strongly in the travel arcs. On a narrow road, you have to start the maneuver early to wait out the drift phase. I frown ... but at the end of the straight section I suddenly glance at the speedometer: I’m a currency at a speed of 195 km / h!

So, - fast, very fast car... It just allows you to rush with a minimum of effort, and this apparent lightness is misleading. The Porsche Cayman S will probably fly even faster here, but in this mode, not every driver will retain control of a central-engined rear-wheel drive car. The Audi TT RS will lose to him in corners due to a different weight distribution and driven wheels loaded with traction, but it will forgive much more mistakes.

It is easier to catapult from place to infinity on the Eresk than to brew tea. You press both pedals, then release the brake ...

A seven-speed robot with two clutches closes the odd clutch, after a moment jumps to the second - and you gain the first hundred in 3.7 seconds. Three and seven tenths, Karl! Fifteen years ago, this result was unattainable even for a Porsche 911 Turbo S, and now this trick will be performed by any blonde in a cute Audi. And not everyone will understand why it was darned so unceremoniously: from the usual TT, the most evil version outwardly differs only in other bumpers, a fixed wing and oval exhaust pipes. Yes big wheels: the minimum version for the winter is 225/40 R19, and the standard summer dimension is 255/30 R20. The tires are supplied by Pirelli - the road-going P Zero or the wicked track version of the P Zero Corsa.

In wheels of a smaller diameter, the brakes simply do not fit. An alternative to the already mentioned cast iron discs that come out too early are the optional carbon ceramic. They provide better first-click responsiveness, more precise force dosage - and, of course, much more durable than standard ones. Heat is dissipated more efficiently, and this is beneficial for the tires as well: with standard brakes, after active driving, the pressure in the front wheels jumped from the recommended 2.4 to 3.3 atm, and the temperature - up to a hundred degrees!

The convertible, which is curious, loads the front axle less, although it is heavier than the coupe: 1530 versus 1440 kg.

The new body is built according to the Audi Space Frame concept. The floor and front are made of hot-stamped steel, the power structure and body panels are aluminum. The roadster has a reinforced windshield frame (aluminum profiles are duplicated with steel ones), diagonal struts appeared at the back, and an additional partition made of box profiles appeared between the passenger compartment and the trunk.

The aluminum engine for the coupe and roadster is the same - an evolution of the famous 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine, which was named the best engine of the year in its class seven times. With the remaining working volume of 2480 cm³, it develops 400 hp. and 480 Nm, while the previous TT RS had 340 forces and 450 Nm. The increase was given by a new turbocharger with an overpressure of 1.35 atm (it was 1.2 atm), a more efficient intercooler and a combined injection. At the same time, the motor lightened by 26 kg, and together with other measures to reduce weight, this provided a power density of 3.6 kg / hp. for the coupe and 3.8 kg / hp. for a convertible. Dynamics of open machine a little worse: acceleration to a hundred lasts two tenths longer - but it is controlled more interesting!

Thanks to different weight distribution and chassis tuning, the roadster plows less in corners and takes maneuvers more quickly. It is generally accepted that an all-metal body is stiffer than an open one, and this is true - however, it is not only the ability to resist torsion that is important, but also how it is taken into account when calibrating the suspension. The TT RS Roadster, if not faster than a coupe at the circuit, is certainly more enjoyable to drive.

And if you fold the roof down, you get all the fun at once. You can bathe in the sun, wind and sound: the inimitable sound of the five cylinders, which work in a 1-2-4-5-3 sequence, can be enhanced by opening the muffler flaps at the push of a button on the center tunnel. And do not regret that the roadster has only two seats - the back sofa of the coupe is absolutely nominal, even teenagers cannot fit here.

So my pick is the Audi TT RS roadster with optional carbon ceramic brakes and active suspension, which in Comfort mode does provide an acceptable ride, and in Sport mode it becomes tighter. The usual, non-adaptive chassis gives the Erescu even more interesting handling, but even on Spanish roads it shakes the soul.

However, what is the use of dreaming? ... At the beginning of 2017, only a coupe will appear, and it is not known at what price. But the fate of the car will depend on the price.

Will Audi go for dumping for the sake of an image model, as competitors did? So, a 370-strong coupe in Russia is sold for 3.65 million rubles - half a million cheaper, if you count the German price tag. A Porsche Cayman S with a capacity of 350 forces in Germany costs 4.68 million rubles in terms of rubles, while our price is a third of a million lower.

At home, the Audi TT RS coupe will cost 66,400 euros, which is 4.85 million rubles at the current exchange rate! If the Russian office can “move” up to four million, then I would rather recommend this car to a wider circle of customers than the M2 or Cayman: Audi has an all-wheel drive transmission and a combination of crazy dynamics with complaisant behavior.

And the brakes ... In the city there are enough basic cast-iron ones, and to go to the track, you just need to change the pads.

Compact coupe will overtake the supercar from the 90s Will not give sharp driver emotions
