Zero air filter. Air filter of zero resistance - let's increase the engine power of our car! What gives a zero air filter - the real advantages and disadvantages of its installation

Every car owner wants to modify his car to be perfect in everything. But perfect car should be not only externally, but also internally. The engine also requires improvements. If you tune the motor, then there is no way without a filter. zero resistance.

You cannot do without installing such a device, since the new injection, the reworked intake and exhaust system significantly raise the power indicators of the power plant, which requires more air for the most smooth operation.

If in such a situation a zero resistance filter is not installed, then the motor will simply "choke". He will waste and twitch, since the mixture will not be enriched at all. You can also buy these filters at any auto parts store. The so-called "zero", very easily replaces the regular one. The mounts are interchangeable. The aesthetic side of the new filter should also be noted. It will give the engine a sporty look.

Why install a zero resistance filter?

It is important to understand the essence of the question: is it possible to use a zero-wheel on an ordinary car, and, if possible, then which one to choose? In order to fully and with understanding deal with this issue, you need to understand how the zero resistance filter works.

As everyone knows, any air filter must filter the incoming air from unwanted environmental influences, as this air mixes with the fuel to achieve a rich mixture. It was not for nothing that the designers came up with the idea of installing air purification agents on motors, since they reduce the wear rate of parts and components of the power plant. In particular, they protect piston group... If you remove the filter, then the microparticles, which have abrasive properties, coming with air, will wear out the motor parts in a very short period of time.

But the other side of air filters must also be considered: they are very dense, so not only particles, but also air is difficult to pass through such material. This causes the motor to lose its power. It cannot produce full horsepower, as it simply "suffocates". And, in addition, the more resistance the air receives, the less power will be output. Very often, this phenomenon can be observed in the summer, when the air filter is clogged with all sorts of dirt and dust, interfering with the passage of air. But, after dismantling the old one and installing a new filter, something seems to move into the engine. The power increases, the dips disappear.

In order to minimize the resistance to the incoming air, and allow the motor to work at all horsepower, they came up with such special means for cleaning the air.

"Nulevik" is specially designed so that the motor can consume as much air as possible. Air filters installed on racing carsah, increase the motor power by a few horse power.

The main advantages that tuning lovers highlight

Many are wondering, but not everyone knows what a zero-wheel will do with a conventional motor.

 • The power of the power plant increases up to 10%. This is despite the fact that the filter is still there, and particles will not enter the cylinders along with the combustible mixture.
 • The zero point does not require frequent replacement, unlike a conventional filter.

Such an air purifier, as it gets dirty, is simply washed with a special aerosol. After processing, the unit can be reused. You can install a modern filter in a regular place, depending on the shape, but you can simply put it on and clamp it with a clamp on the air supply line.

How to properly care for the filter?

In order to service the zero, it must be removed from the car. Then it is cleaned with a special brush. Cleaning has passed, now the entire filter is applied special tool for cleaning filters. Now you should wait 10 minutes for the product to saturate the filter. Further, after this time, the filter is washed in some container with water. And after that you need to rinse the element under running water.

After the filter has been cleaned, you do not need to dry it at all. The best thing to do is to simply remove the remaining water with the usual shaking. There are cases when the product has poorly impregnated the filter, and light spots have appeared on it. In this case, the tool will have to be used again. After completing the entire procedure for cleaning the zero resistance filter, it can be mounted back. According to the factory data, zeroes are designed for 20 flushes. Further flushing is useless, and you cannot do without replacement.

It should be noted important information: Zero resistance filters perform well on power plants with large volumes. Weak and small engines will not notice the increase in horsepower from such a device.

People's opinions that if the air filter is completely dismantled, then the motor will become much more powerful, are completely mythical. Nothing really happens. When the designers invented the engine, they calculated all valve timing, taking into account the resistance of the air filter. So, in addition to the fact that the motor will become unusable very quickly, due to the ingress of a large number of "extra" particles into it, removing the filter will not add power.

It is up to the owner to decide whether to use a standard accessory, or try to tune your car.

Video

It's no secret that the air filter has some effect on power. power unit car and its efficiency indicator. The more effective its filtering properties, the more it suppresses the engine. In this case, a compromise is needed: the installation of an effective filter element with less resistance. Does such a filter exist?

What is a zero resistance filter for?

It is believed that such a filter is a zero resistance filter. Even in spite of the good performance of the filter elements of this design, the attitude towards their installation cannot be called unambiguous. Many motorists note the fact that after changing the usual element to a filter with zero resistance, no changes were noticed.

Figure 1. Zero Resistance Cone Air Filter

On one of the sites I came across an article, it is given below, which talks about all the advantages of such filters and states their usefulness.

What does the use of a zero resistance filter give?

The purpose of air filters is to prevent the ingress of various particles into the area of operation of the cylinder-piston group of the engine.

Greater airflow filtration efficiency inevitably leads to a loss in engine power. Standard filter papers from Bosch, Mann, Champion, Fram, SCT or Hengst are characterized by significant resistance to air flow due to the high density of the filter media. The stronger the resistance, the more significant and tangible the loss of power. This is especially evident before the filter replacement date, when it is already sufficiently dirty.

The zero resistance filter design provides the ability to reduce the inlet flow resistance without compromising filtering properties and loss of motor power. Zero resistance filters are widely used in sports cars when it is important to add some horsepower to the engine.

At the heart of the “zero” filter element is the use of a multi-layer cotton gauze impregnated with a special oil composition, which is located between the pressed aluminum screens.

The standard air filter has the ability to clean the air flow with only one plane. The design of the nulls allows the entire surface of the incoming air to be filtered, which helps to retain more dust. The impregnation for the zero resistance filter causes dust particles to settle sequentially on each cotton fiber layer.

The service life of standard air filters is very limited and averages about 15 thousand kilometers, after which they must be replaced. Cleaning this filter does not have the desired effect. But filters with zero resistance have a resource exceeding 100 thousand kilometers.

The economic effect observed after installing a filter with zero resistance:

 • the plus, first of all, is that its installation allows you to save fuel up to 4%, due to the powerful air flow and increased filtration effect;
 • there is also an increase in power up to 5%, while maintaining the filtering ability in comparison with the standard element; a more complex design of the element provides low resistance to air flow and has significant filtering properties, which protects fuel system from contamination, and the piston group from premature wear.

Many people like the appearance of a unique in nature induction noise emanating from the filter when the engine is running.

The owners of some off-road vehicles quite positively characterize the installation of "zero" on the car. And if we take into account the frequent off-road movements of such vehicles, then the use of this filter is accompanied by a quick payback.

If you own a sufficiently new car, chip tuning and refinement of the exhaust system, then installing a filter with zero resistance will be quite effective.

As for old cars or low-power ones, for example, the classic VAZ model line, the purchase and installation of a filter with zero resistance will not in any way affect the increase in power or improvement in efficiency. Such a replacement is not justified and looks like nothing more than a farce of the owner.

It should be noted that the purchase and installation of a low-quality filter will not only not improve the performance of the motor, but can also greatly harm it, since such elements filter even worse than standard filters.

It should be noted that a filter with a conical design is able to add a little more performance to the motor than a filter installed in a regular place.

Opinion about the inefficiency of nulls

In order not to tire you with reading, I will not describe the disadvantages of the zero resistance filter. I think it will be much more interesting to watch the video test, the conclusion in which is based not on speculation and subjective opinions, but on real measurements carried out special device... So, let's see.

It is up to you to believe in the uselessness of the filters we are discussing or not. However, my opinion is that if such filters were more effective than paper or fluff filters, then car manufacturers would install them regularly, off the assembly line. In general, I am against installing filters with zero resistance.

Installing a zero resistance filter on a car

If, after watching the video, you still want to check the effectiveness of filters with zero resistance from your own experience, then proceed as follows. First dismantle the filter housing itself. Then remove the section with the MAF sensor. After that, the zero resistance filter is attached with clamps to the section with the MAF sensor, and the whole structure is attached to the air intake pipe.

The filter must be securely fastened to prevent it from loosening.

There are special kits on sale, both for mounting the filter on any car, and for installation on a specific model.

How to maintain a zero resistance filter

The filter can also be cleaned like the installation with my own hands... The filter is dismantled and, using a brush with a soft fluffy coating, gently clean the outer surface of dirt.

Then apply the special Universal Cleaner to all sides of the filter. After 10 minutes after the complete impregnation of the filter element with the composition, the filter should be washed with water in a container, and then washed again under running water.

Figure 3. Zero Resistance Filter Cleaner

It is not necessary to dry such a filter; it is enough to shake it vigorously a few times to remove the remaining water. Drying with heating devices is not recommended, so as not to damage the filter element. If white spots appear on the outside or inside of the filter, it can be re-soaked. After that, the filter is installed in its place.

If you drive a car frequently in dusty conditions, the zero resistance filter oil is reapplied every 5,000 km. Under normal operating conditions, impregnation is carried out after 10 thousand kilometers. The filter resource is capable of withstanding at least 20 washings.

Some car owners, eager to increase the power of their car and improve dynamics, put a zero resistance filter. It is difficult for an uninitiated person to judge how justified this is. Among motorists, there are directly opposite opinions about such a car modernization. Some argue that the installation of a zero resistance filter significantly increases the power of the engine, strangled by a standard air filter. Others are sure that one "zero" is not enough to improve the power characteristics, and therefore it makes no sense to put it. In addition, there is a popular belief that such a device is much worse at cleaning the air entering the motor.

The truth is hidden somewhere nearby, or rather, in the middle of these two conflicting opinions. We will tell you what, in fact, a zero resistance filter is, what are its disadvantages and advantages, compared to a conventional filter, and also talk about its maintenance.

Zero resistance filter: what is it?

Air contains many mechanical particles and chemical compounds. First of all, the dust that gets into the cylinders of the engine is capable of disabling it. To prevent possible breakdowns, the air must be cleaned. This requires a mechanical air filter.

The engine power depends on the amount of air in the working mixture. The more the air is filtered, the less it enters the engine, and the more power is reduced. Standard paper filters have a very high air resistance as they are made from a very dense material. As the filter becomes dirty, the pores of the filter become clogged, and, in general, it ceases to pass anything, significantly increasing air resistance.

Its filter component has several layers of cotton cloth impregnated with a special mixture and installed between an aluminum screen. It allows airflow into the engine to pass almost unhindered. Dirt particles settle on the filter fibers without affecting the filter's capacity. The zero resistance filter is called so because it practically does not interfere with the penetration of air at the intake. Moreover, this property of "zero" does not affect the quality of cleaning. It is for this reason that it is installed on sports cars.

Pros of a zero resistance filter

So let's list the main advantages of a zero resistance filter:

 • Firstly, it is an increased power factor without reducing the quality of air purification. The filter has a more complex design, which guarantees low resistance, but at the same time, effective filtration, which protects the piston system from wear and the intake system from clogging.
 • Secondly, there is no need to change the filter every 15 thousand km. The cleaning component is easily washed with a special liquid, after which it acquires its original properties.
 • Third, the zero resistance filter emits the characteristic sound inherent in racing cars and a few additional "horses". And with averages and low revs torque appears.

It is worth noting that in order to obtain a tangible increase in power characteristics and torque, you should remove the standard air filter housing assembly with a filter cartridge and install a cone filter - zero on the mass air flow sensor or on the branch pipe connected to it, which is selected with the diameter of the seat.

Cons of a zero resistance filter

As the saying goes: "Not all the cat is Shrovetide." Unfortunately, the zero resistance filter also has a number of disadvantages, which can override all the advantages of this product. Let's list the main ones:

 • The zero resistance filter requires regular maintenance.
 • The cost of a high-quality zero filter is several times higher than the price of a conventional filter.
 • The driver practically does not feel the increased power of 5-6% when the filter of zero resistance is installed, since physically a person cannot catch the difference in power less than 5 horsepower.

Feasibility of installing a zero resistance filter

Make no mistake that removing the filter with the housing will significantly increase engine power. This is not the case at all, and all sorts of measurements confirm this. The reason is that the developers calculate the valve timing in advance, taking into account the losses for air filtration. In addition, you should not risk the condition of the engine, since it will quickly fail in untreated air.

An obstacle for debris in the form of an air filter is a must. Minimum flow resistance can be achieved only by expanding the passage holes, slightly impairing the filtration quality.

Summing up, we can say that if your car does not have a sports engine, then spending several thousand on a zero resistance filter is inappropriate. Still, this is the privilege of racing cars, and for an ordinary motor, just a beautiful thing under the hood.

Another conversation, if you decide to comprehensively modify the car engine with a turbo or the installation of sports camshafts, cylinder bore. In this case, the zero will be in place. Together with a zero resistance filter, an enlarged throttle valve can be purchased, which will increase the return from the engine intake system.

Maintenance of a zero resistance filter

Installing a zero resistance filter obliges the car owner to regularly wash it and soak it with a special liquid, which also costs money. Moreover, the processing should be carried out according to a certain technology, instead of a simple algorithm of actions "removed and placed". It is impossible to miss the moment of filter maintenance, since such negligence threatens to increase fuel consumption and reduce the power of the car.

 • At the first stage of servicing the filter of zero resistance, remove it and, armed with a brush with soft bristles, carefully clean the filter element from coarse dirt.
 • After that, a special solution is applied on both sides of the filter and wait 10 minutes until complete impregnation.
 • Next, it must be rinsed in a basin with water, and then substituted under a weak pressure of running water.
 • They don't dry the zero, they just shake the water off it.
 • The dry filter should be carefully inspected for light stains. If they are present, then the impregnation with a special solution will have to be repeated.
 • At the last stage, we put the filter in place.

Conclusion

Now you know what a zero resistance filter is and you can conclude that it is advisable to use it. To reinforce the knowledge gained, we recommend watching the following video:

Almost all motorists have a desire to increase the power and dynamics of their car. In this case, everyone uses their own methods, based on the capabilities and level of knowledge.

Some - they optimize the engine, others - install various body kits and spoilers, others - use high-quality "consumables" and so on.

But experienced car owners know about another popular method - installing a zero resistance filter.

So what is this device? What are the differences between "zero" filters and standard filters? Does it make sense to spend money? Let's figure it out.

What is a zero resistance filter for and where is it used?

The task of the air filter installed in each car is to clean the streams entering the engine from various "debris". But here there is a "stick" at two ends.

On the one hand, installing a filter allows you to clean the air, and on the other, it creates additional resistance to the flow.

The result is a decrease in power, which is especially noticeable as the filter element becomes dirty.

The zero resistance filter is an alternative to the classic filter. The main purpose is to reduce the total air resistance without compromising the quality of cleaning.

It is believed that the installation of such a filter makes it possible to increase the motor power by an average of 5-7%. At the same time, there is almost no way to feel the difference from the installation. All that remains is the facts to be believed.

"Nuleviks" are actively used on sports cars with the same purpose - to add power to the power unit. At the same time, any alternatives are not even considered.

But it is worth considering that the difference between sports cars is not only in the installation of a special filter, but also in a more advanced exhaust system, which allows the release of large volumes of exhaust gases even at maximum speed.

What is the difference from other types of filters?

The main difference between the "zero" lies in its design. Classic filters installed on most of the cars are made of paper (more precisely, of compressed fibers).

The air mass flows through small holes in the fibers and then goes to the motor.

As soon as the fibers become clogged, the resistance also increases, because the air needs to find new ways to overcome the obstacle. If nothing is done, the motor power drops.

Based on current standards, the filter paper should be thicker with maximum fiber compaction. With this design, high-quality cleaning is provided, but the resistance is overestimated immediately after installation.

The design of the "zero" is based on the principle of reducing resistance.

The device is based on several layers of cotton, which effectively traps dust and dirt. In this case, the retained particles, in fact, become part of the product.

Thanks to this, the efficiency of the filter element is higher and one square centimeter of the surface receives more dust than its predecessor.

Cotton cloth is sandwiched in an aluminum screen, which increases the filter surface. The developers assure that the working part of the "zero" is 4-5 times larger than in the classic filter, which ensures a long service life and less resistance of the product.

This is achieved thanks to another factor - the presence of a special coating (oil) on the cotton, which retains dirt without harming the flow.

The principle of operation of the filter, its features

The principle of operation of the "zero" is based on two factors:

 • high-quality cleaning of the flow entering the motor;
 • minimum air resistance.

The effectiveness of the zero resistance filter is due to the unique design and use of cotton (not paper) material.

The incoming stream is filtered from dust without much contamination for the product. Due to a special impregnation, particles entering through the filter settle on the surface and do not interfere with the flow of air to the combustion chamber.

As a result, a sufficient volume of air enters the intake manifold, and the power of the power unit increases.

Advantages and disadvantages of "zeroes"

As practice shows, such filters have their positive and negative qualities.

Let's start with the pros:

 • increase in power by 5-7%. Of course, this may not be noticeable for the driver, but when installed in combination with other types, the result can be felt on yourself;
 • changing the sound characteristics of the motor. The filter element is believed to emit a special sound that changes the overall hum from engine compartment... Many car enthusiasts install "zeroes" for this very reason;
 • is changing appearance space under the hood - it becomes more sporty.

Disadvantages of
• the need for constant care, which not all car owners like to do;
 • affordable filters are of poor quality and clog almost immediately. The oil becomes contaminated more quickly, which leads to a decrease in the resource of the power unit.

How do you care for these filters?

As already mentioned, one of the main disadvantages of a filter is the need for regular maintenance.

After purchasing and installing the product, it must be regularly washed and processed. At the same time, processing according to the principle of "removed-washed-installed" will no longer work - a special algorithm is required here.

The frequency of flushing is every 5-6 thousand kilometers. If the car is operated in a dusty area or off-road, then the filter must be cleaned more often.

If you forget about the maintenance of the device, then the machine becomes "gluttonous" and "dumb".

The algorithm of actions is as follows:

There are even special kits for caring for "zeroes", which include rinsing and impregnation. Several manipulations as described above, and the product looks like new.

Please note that the total number of washes may be limited and is about 20. After that, it is worth installing a new filter.

Installation features

Many car enthusiasts make a big mistake - they incorrectly install the "zero" because of which it is not able to perform its functions normally.

For example, the filter is installed too close to a hot engine or exhaust manifold. Here it is just right to remember physics.

The density of cold air is higher than that of hot air. As a result, cold air is easier to "push" into the combustion chamber than hot air.

Consequently, the "zero" should be located as far as possible from any heat sources (motor, exhaust manifold, and others).

In addition, a dirty filter will have to be "repaired", which will also take some time.

Today there are a lot of models of zero filters that are designed for mounting on various types of cars - with an injector or a carburetor.

The material can be mesh, foam rubber or cotton. Highest degree cleaning of filters made of foam rubber, but they also have more resistance than their "brothers".

Installation of "zero" on different cars is produced in different ways, but in general you need to follow the following algorithm:

 • discard the connector from the mass air flow sensor (mass fuel flow sensor);
 • use a screwdriver to disconnect the rubber tube from the mass air flow sensor;
 • remove the sensor fasteners from the case (for this you will have to unscrew a couple of bolts);
 • dismantle the case and remove the rubber clips (use pliers or pliers);
 • unscrew the fastener from the group of wires;
 • fasten a couple of bolts from the DMRV retainer to the "zero" fastener;
 • put a new filter on the mass air flow sensor, pull the clamping clamp and connect the sensor.

That's it, the new filter is installed on the car.

How to make a zero filter yourself?

Some motorists, wanting to save money, decide to make a "zero" with their own hands.

In the role of a source, a factory round filter is used, which was mounted at one time on "Moskvich" cars.

To make a "zero" you can use different methods. We will describe one of them below.

You will need tools at hand (foam rubber, sealant, sharp knife, glue and others). The total price of the issue is no more than $ 3-4.

It should be noted right away that the converted "zero" is unlikely to add power to your car. The reason is outdated technologies that were used in the production of cars in the 70s and 80s.

Manufacturers, when creating filters, thought little about the importance of cleaning, so old products retain only very large pieces of dirt. So, by "creating" a null filter, you are taking a certain risk and can "kill" your engine.

By the way, the only car where such a zero filter will have to be taken care of is the Moskvich. At the same time, there are owners who immediately cut off the walls in order to eliminate unnecessary resistance to flow.

If you do decide to experiment, then the sequence will be as follows:

 • remove the standard device;
 • make a rectangular adapter with a hole from a piece of plywood.

Drill four more holes and secure the adapter to the air meter sensor.

Before that, install a piece of pipe into the hole and seal the cracks with a sealant;

 • punch additional holes in two plywood circles. In this case, on the outer circle, make a hole with a larger diameter, and on the inner one (installed near the air meter) - along the diameter of the pipe to be installed. The latter shrinks with a sealant;
 • make 3 sticks about 16-18 centimeters long and use them to hold the circles together. As a result, you get a kind of cylindrical figure. Since there is no plywood in the bars, holes must be made at the edges for the installation of self-tapping screws (otherwise the plywood may be damaged);
 • to prevent the foam rubber from falling out, make a case. For its manufacture, you can take a grid for GVL joints. The advantage is the presence of a sticky base, which will allow you to immediately fix it;
 • afterwards, foam rubber is glued on the outside with the help of a thermo-sealant, which allows you to securely and quickly fix the device;
 • fix a couple of pieces of foam rubber for the side of the barrel with a sealant;
 • put on foam rubber and fasten the plywood beams with zip ties.

There are also simpler solutions.

Hello! Next in line is a fairly relevant and interesting topic. After all, we will talk about a zero filter. Many have heard of such an air filter, but not everyone knows exactly what it is, what it is for and what is the use of it.

The zero-point is placed instead of the air filter in a regular place. And here it is important to understand what such a device gives. I will make a reservation right away, there are plus and minuses in it. But for objectivity, I will try to first tell you in detail about the device, and then summarize as to whether there is a benefit in this purchase, whether it is worth installing a zero-wheel on a car, on a moped, on some VAZ or on a carburetor, for example. Indeed, in the network there are very often craftsmen who put a device for Piedburg and on Alpha, that is, on a scooter.

Don't forget to share your opinion. Especially if you have personal experience in the application of filters of zero resistance. This is the correct name for nulls.

Why is it needed

First, let's figure out what it is and what it is eaten with. A standard or conventional air filter is designed to clean the air entering the motor from all kinds of contaminants. It is due to air filtration that power loss occurs.

This is due to the fact that the cleaning elements in the filter design (usually special paper) create resistance to air flows. This is not surprising since the filtration material is very dense. And the higher the resistance indicators, the more the final power is lost. As you know, the increase in power is achieved by increasing the amount of incoming air. This is where the zero resistance filter comes into play.

Zero is an alternative to the standard cleaner. Its design is such that the device reduces intake resistance without sacrificing air purification itself. This achieves an increase in power.

And then a natural question arises about whether your Priora, VAZ 2112 or VAZ 2114 is worthy of such an element? Is it worth buying a zero-ball at all, wanting to slightly increase the engine power?

Practice and research show that such a small tuning as installing a zero-wheel allows you to get an increase of 3-5% in power. If it's a low-powered car, then you definitely won't feel a few horsepower gains. Also, you won't see any difference in dynamics. But the numbers will be higher than you can comfort yourself a little.

Key benefits

Reading reviews about nulls, I came across a lot of conflicting opinions. One put such a filter on the injector for himself, and was very pleased. Another spent a lot of money on a K&N zero and its installation, wanted to change, but in the end got only wasted time. And there are a lot of such examples.

I will say right away that ordering filters of zero resistance from auto shops is not a problem at all. The price for some models is quite adequate, therefore it is not difficult to buy and relatively inexpensive. But is it necessary to install such an element on a VAZ with your own hands, the question is extremely interesting.

Let's start with the good. As with any device, zero has its pros and cons. The disadvantages include the cost compared to a conventional air filter and the need for constant cleaning.

As for the merits, there are several of them.

 • The power is increasing. The nulevik has a complex design that reduces resistance. This gives an increase in the amount of horse power;
 • Simultaneous cleaning efficiency. Although the resistance drops, this does not affect the quality of air purification;
 • Replacement frequency. Change the zero as often as regular filter, not necessary. For them, the possibility of flushing is provided. This allows you to return performance characteristics fully;
 • Increase in characteristics. Let it be a little, but zero-wheel adds power and increases torque;
 • Sound. For many, it is not the power that matters, but the sound characteristic of powerful motors. Zero makes this effect, and as a result the car sounds very interesting.

To achieve what you want, you will have to remove the standard filter, and install a zero resistance device in its place. What is better, buy and install with your own hands, or give the car to the masters, decide for yourself. In the second case, there will be a guarantee of quality and a well-chosen filter. The main thing is that the specialists themselves are qualified and reliable.

And there is a sense

There is a common misconception that after removing the filter and housing, it is possible to significantly increase engine power. This is completely untrue.

It is important to consider here that when developing the engine, a fine calculation of the valve timing is done, which takes into account the errors and losses on the filter. And if dust begins to enter the engine, it will definitely not be able to work for a long time. It is imperative to have a fence that will prevent the penetration of contaminants. Resistance can be reduced by widening the passages. But then the filtration quality will decrease.

Before looking for an SKU and buying a zero for your motorcycle or car, remember one simple truth. For cars without a powerful sports engine, the cost of purchasing such a filter would be completely meaningless. You will only waste a few thousand rubles. The only thing you get is a slightly altered engine sound.

Nulls are only suitable for sports cars and cars with powerful power plants... It is allowed to use such a filter on serial motors only in cases where a comprehensive revision is being carried out. That is, a boring is made in the cylinders, an increased throttle, sports camshafts are installed, etc. Here you can also put a zero-wheel in the kit with them.

Service issue

If you nevertheless decide to install a zero-point instead of a standard type air filter, then you will have to take additional care of it. The essence of care is cleaning and periodic impregnation with solutions. Moreover, when leaving, a certain technology is strictly observed.

If this is not done, the fuel consumption of the car will significantly increase, power will drop and the car will begin to react poorly to an increase in revs when the accelerator pedal is pressed.

You need:

 • remove the filter;
 • clean dirt with a soft brush;
 • remove dirt from the seat;
 • rinse the filter with water;
 • shake several times rather than dry;
 • apply a cleaning agent on both sides;
 • refit.

If the machine is operated in rather harsh conditions, then such prevention is carried out at least every 8 thousand kilometers. For normal conditions, 10-12 thousand km is enough. One zero can be flushed up to 20 times. Then the obligatory replacement.

What can you say about such zero resistance filters? They look impressive in the photo, are expensive and, in theory, have important advantages over standard filters. But in relation to serial machines they are useless. It is a fact.

Zeroes should be put on powerful engines sports type and motors that are subject to serious technical tuning... By itself, the weather filter will not make it on motors whose power does not exceed 120-150 horsepower.
