Disadvantages of a used Chevrolet Orlando: what to look for when choosing a minivan with a crossover appearance. New Chevrolet Orlando price, photos, videos, equipment, specifications Chevrolet Orlando Chevrolet Orlando new body test drive

New Chevrolet Orlando first appeared on the market back in 2010, although the minivan was shown as a concept back in 2008. Chevrolet Orlando is notable for the fact that it has a 7-seater cabin in all trim levels.

Chevrolet Orlando is based on the Chevrolet Cruze. The Orlando minivan is slightly shorter than the Cruz station wagon, but longer than the Chevrolet Cruze sedan and hatchback. However, the wheelbase of the Chevrolet Orlando has been increased by 7.5 centimeters relative to the Cruz family.

Quite simple body shapes, high roof, vertical tailgate make the Chevrolet Orlando very roomy inside. By the way, the design of the minivan was created by the Korean Shongwu Kim. The third row of seats is located in the trunk. Moreover, when folded, the boot floor is completely flat. When the second row of seats is folded down, the end result is an oversized flat loading dock. Quite a convenient scheme for transforming the cabin.

As for the power units, until recently, only a 1.8-liter gasoline engine was offered in Russia. But recently a 2 liter diesel engine has appeared and a petrol turbo engine with a volume of only 1.4 liters may appear. Where is Chevrolet Orlando collected For Russia? Chevrolet Orlando is produced in Kaliningrad at the Avtotor plant. It is difficult to call this a full-fledged production, since only SKD is carried out there, the car itself is made in Korea.

The exterior of the car is made in the general style of the manufacturer's corporate style. Next, we offer photos appearance Chevrolet Orlando. And of course photo of interior and trunk of Chevrolet Orlando... It is the trunk and the size of the cabin that the buyers of this minivan care about in the first place. Plus, of course, the possibility of transforming the cabin for the carriage of various numbers of passengers and overall and not very cargo. Further in the photo you will see how the seats are fully or partially folded in the Chevrolet Orlando. In total, the car has 16 different combinations of interior transformation.

Specifications Chevrolet Orlando

Let's start with the Chevrolet Orlando's dimensions, which aren't that big compared to classic American minivans. This is understandable, the car was primarily made for Europe. So the length is 4 652 mm, which corresponds to the length of the C-class car. The wheelbase defining the interior is of course increased and amounts to 2,760 mm. But the main thing is of course chevrolet Orlando trunk volumes... If the second and third row of seats are folded down, the cargo area will be about 2.6 meters long and the total cargo area will be 1,584 liters. If only the third row of seats is folded down, the luggage compartment is 466 liters. In the stowed state, when three rows of seats are involved, only 89 liters remain in the trunk. Clearance Chevrolet Orlando about 160 mm. Further detailed dimensional chevrolet Orlando sizes.

As for the power units of the Chevrolet Orlando, today a 1.8-liter petrol engine with a capacity of 141 hp is available to customers. and a diesel engine with a volume of 2 liters and a capacity of 163 liters. It is quite possible that buyers will soon be offered a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 140 hp. With a seemingly comparable power in horse powerah with a 1.8-liter aspirated engine, the 1.4 turbo engine is more economical and produces more torque, which is useful for a family car with a decent payload.

Chevrolet Orlando has two transmissions, a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The minivan itself is exclusively front-wheel drive, there are no 4x4 versions. Interestingly, the manual transmission and automatic transmission are inherited from the Chevrolet Cruze. At the same time, a modern automatic machine is quite economical, especially with a diesel engine. By the way, the Orlando diesel engine is combined exclusively with a machine gun. Further, the parameters of the power units, fuel consumption, engine dynamics.

Chevrolet Orlando Video

Test drive Schvrolet Orlando, where they talk about the many disadvantages of a compact van.

Another test drive video The Chevrolet Orlando is fun to watch. A more positive review than the previous video.

Video crash test Chevrolet Orlando. According to EuroNCAP, the car received its 5 stars for safety. Let's see what will happen to the car in case of an accident.

Overall, the Chevrolet Orlando is spacious family car, at a relatively low price when compared with the closest competitors, which are practically absent in our country, since cars of this class are not in mass demand. American-Korean Chevrolet Orlando with diesel engine, automatic and cruise control is generally an ideal combination for trips to the sea, for example. But the diesel Chevrolet Orlando is more expensive than the gasoline counterpart and is offered only in the richest configuration.

Moreover, nowadays they are trying to make off-road vehicles from such cars that, at first glance, are not suitable for this at all! Chevrolet went even further, pouring two products into one bottle at once - a compact MPV and a crossover.

Chopped shapes, an impressive pediment with large headlights, a protective plastic perimeter and even lining a la aluminum protection under the bumpers - Orlando really has enough paraphernalia to match the role of an off-road vehicle. Moreover, "Chevy" also seduces with a 7-seater salon, back row which looks quite full in order to take into its arms not only delinquent teenagers.

Add to this a loud surname and a sonorous memorable name, received in honor of a sunny resort in Florida; finally appreciate the attractive price ... Now you understand why "Orlando" is increasingly common on our roads? For three months of sales, this car has sold 1949 copies - a very impressive number even by the standards of crossovers! And among the vans, "Chevy" is the best.

How much is?

You won't have to look for the reason for the popularity of Orlando for a long time - just look at the price tag: an impressive compact MPV with a 7-seater saloon starts at 719,000 rubles. Total! At the same time, you will not find a catch in the equipment of the basic version - at least at first glance: there is a full power accessories, a radio tape recorder, a quartet of airbags, central locking and heated front seats. There are even such nice little things as a rear armrest with cup holders and an eyeglass case! But the cheapest car does not have an air conditioner. It can be ordered separately, but it costs a lot - 36,000 rubles.

And here it already becomes clear that if you buy "Orlando" not for the last money, then the LS version will be much more profitable.

Firstly, it has an air conditioner. Secondly, the remaining 45 thousand are for burglar alarms, fog lights and a number of improvements in the cabin, as well as very necessary family car window airbags, ESP and belt pretensioners. And finally, thirdly: LS is the most affordable package that can be supplemented with an automatic transmission.

Whether it is worth stopping at this or preferring the third version of LS + is up to you. In principle, a 20,000 surcharge for alloy wheels, climate control, USB connector and audio system improved by tweeters seems quite adequate. Should I choose "Orlando" as vehicle for my family, I would take just this option.

But LT, which is sold exclusively with automatic transmission at a price of 899,000 rubles, no longer contains anything that a buyer of a budget van could not do without. Really useful options should be recognized unless the rear parking sensors and electric folding mirrors. However, you will not be able to get these benefits separately: all configurations are rigidly fixed.

Nevertheless, within 700-900 thousand, you will not be able to find another 7-seater car that would combine the advantages of a van and a crossover. An alternative to Orlando in terms of functionality can only be considered off-road vehicles of various calibers, the prices of which are 1.2-1.7 million. Cross-Turan "or" Nissan-Grand-Livina ", which we have never sold.

And among the purebred vans, the closest in price is only "Zafira-Family" (from 784,900 rubles). But this is a seven-year-old model, which is also completely different from a crossover.

So it turns out that Orlando found itself in a market segment where there is no one else besides it. So his lot is to cut coupons. It is gratifying that it is not only the price that helps to engage in such a pleasant activity of Chevy.

Outside and inside

At first glance, it is noticeable that Orlando is not trying to seem extravagant and sophisticated. Chopped shapes and dumpy posture - that's his style! Such a design may be unconditionally liked or, on the contrary, cause persistent rejection, but it is unlikely that anyone will remain indifferent.

You don't need to look closely at the Chevrolet for a long time to find such advantages as a high roof, wide doors, thresholds that are pretty far from the ground and practical overlays made of unpainted plastic in its appearance. And from the stern, the car can really be mistaken for a crossover! In addition, it is clearly visible that the "Orlando" has bumpers suspended high enough, so that when parking near high curbs, you can not be especially careful. In general, appearance is a clear plus of the car.

But inside the crossover essence does not give itself away: it is typical big station wagon with a tall ceiling. As befits a representative of the "bus" family, the Orlando cabin is light and airy. In the second row, space reigns: there is enough space in width for three adults. For a more comfortable fit, the back of the sofa can be tilted. There is enough room for legs: only the passenger whose height exceeds 190 cm will be propped up by the front seat - and even then, provided that an equally significant individual is seated in front of him.

The third row can also be called complete: 91 cm separates the pillow from the ceiling - by the way, this is more than on the sofa of the Solaris sedan, which is so popular in our country. The minimum distance to the back of the sofa is 0.6 m - perhaps the best indicator among compact van! In addition, by placing the front seat back a little more upright, you can free up an additional 4 cm of legroom.

However, if from the point of view of spaciousness "Orlando" can be considered almost the best of the compact van, then according to the level of outdoor service it is no more than good: tables in the backs of the seats, secret places in the floor, removable chairs - all this is not about "Chevy" ... However, the designers did not forget to equip it with the obligatory attributes of family cars: the Orlando has a lot of cup holders, comfortable armrests, hooks for clothes and even 12-volt sockets on all three rows of seats.

Loading suitcases

As you might guess, in the struggle for space in the cabin, the trunk first of all suffered: behind the backs of the third row, only a couple of small handbags can fit. However, a similar sin is found behind many 7-seater cars.

But if at least one of the six seats is folded into the floor (to do this, it is enough to pull the gripping handle on the back), Orlando will provide a hold comparable in volume to the trunk of a conventional golf-class hatchback. Unless, for a more reliable fastening of loads, you will have to buy rigging nets: there was no room for them in the staffing table.

It is logical that as the number of passengers decreases, the trunk will grow in useful volume. And if in the standard 5-seater configuration the car provides 466 liters of luggage, then folding both rows of seats, we get an almost 1.5-cc van.

Moreover, at the beginning of next year, the cargo capacity of the car will be even more obvious: a version with a folding back of the right front seat will enter the market, in which it will be possible to carry long vehicles up to 2.7 m in length.

The only pity is that the engineers placed the boot curtain too low: large suitcases will hide under it only flat. In addition, the high threshold of the hold is also a disadvantage.

Behind the wheel

Again, compact vans, like crossovers, often captivate with a high seating position behind the wheel. Orlando is no exception. Drivers who prefer to sit at the very top will certainly appreciate the large (within seven centimeters) range of seat height adjustment. The steering column has a full range of adjustments; and the handlebar itself of the optimal diameter is rich in comfortable tides in the grip area. In general, a person of any height and build can comfortably get a job at the Chevy.

True, the overall ergonomics of the Orlando are still not perfect. "Mechanics" makes you get used to long lever strokes; and when manipulating the joystick for adjusting the mirrors, which has a vertical orientation, you have to bend your hand unnaturally. Like many other vans, Orlando has a large glass area, but even significant objects can go unnoticed behind the high sill line.

Finally, the most obvious ergonomic mistake should be recognized as too tricky algorithm for controlling the on-board computer: information that can be obtained on many cars with a couple of clicks on a single button, in Orlando you get by rotating the wheel and stomping the keys located on the right steering column lever ... And if the situation with fuel consumption or power reserve is even more or less clear, then for the interpretation of inscriptions like "Unit set" or "Code" you have to refer to the operating instructions, which explains that it turns out that we are talking about units of measurement or faults in different systems.

On the roads ...

The 1.8-liter engine, with variable valve timing and variable intake tract length, produces 141 power. With this knowledge, I expected excellent dynamics from Orlando. But I was deceived: the engine is lucky with obvious strain and perhaps it does not stall under traction at low revs! Meanwhile, the engine must be lively: "Zafira" with exactly the same engine goes much more fun!

Only after 2500 rpm does the engine wake up, and when the tachometer needle passes the four thousandth mark, it demonstrates the ability to quickly gain momentum. And yet, the Orlando allows it to be nimble only when there is no one else in the car except the driver. At full load and with the climate control turned on, during acceleration, it is intolerable to sleep. And this is on the "hand"!

And how do modifications with a 6-speed automatic transmission behave? The box shifts smoothly and insinuatingly, but for automatic convenience you will have to pay with temperament, accustoming yourself to drive extremely slowly. AKP, in its striving to please the environment, tries not to burn excess gasoline, does not allow to get carried away with high speeds. Trying to get the Orlando up and running, you run the risk of throwing the box out of balance. And when it does happen, you will hardly be able to adapt to the chaotic switching. Unless by transferring the transmission selector to manual mode, you can achieve at least some mutual understanding. True, do not blame me if the salon is filled with a rumble: on high revs the motor is not shy about howling.

But "Orlando" drives very well. The machine always follows the given direction exactly and pleases with small rolls. And only at speed in corners with uneven surfaces it becomes noticeable how rear axle strives to jump off the trajectory. In any case, the suspension maintains an optimal balance between comfort and energy intensity. On small irregularities, the "Chevy" seemed slightly harsh, and on the tiles framing tram rails, showed an amazing softness of the step. But even very serious potholes are not able to force the van to cross the border of comfort: sometimes it even comes to the point that on seriously broken country roads you start driving according to the principle "more speed, fewer holes": the car is very condescending to such barbarism.

... and without them

However, you shouldn't abuse the all-forgiving suspension. Chassis "Orlando" though strengthened taking into account the considerable "bus" weight, it is still borrowed from the passenger "Cruise" and in no case is designed for merciless operation in harsh conditions.

And yet, by the standards of a van on a primer, Orlando demonstrates decent endurance. From the ground to the steel crankcase, I measured 16 cm. The sills are raised another 4 cm higher, and the muffler and suspension parts are firmly pulled to the bottom. Eh, the Chevy would also have four-wheel drive ... But no: it can only have front wheels leading. So on the off-road the dispute with real crossovers "Orlando" will lose. But against the background of competitors in a class like "Mazda-5" or "Citroen-Grand-C4-Picasso" our "crusader" looks good.

Safety

The Euro NCAP Orlando crash tests were excellent. The car scored 34.4 points, which earned the maximum possible 5 stars. Such a high result is explained by the fact that the Chevrolet has good side impact resistance, and this test is carried out exclusively with the presence of window cushions. In Russia, as we have already said, they appear only in the LS version simultaneously with the dynamic stabilization system and seat belt pretensioners - the latter reduce the risk of chest injury.

For the transportation of children, you can use both ordinary armchairs and those that use isofix mounts - the corresponding loops are provided on the sofa. By the way, already in the basic configuration, Orlando allows you to deactivate the right front airbag: this is a necessary measure for installing a child seat with the back facing forward.

Operation, service

The factory warranty for Chevrolet is three years and 100 thousand kilometers. At the same time, in the first year of operation, you will receive claims for all components and parts, with the exception of consumables (wiper blades, brake pads, clutch disc lining, etc.). In the second year, some restrictions already appear: in particular, you may be denied a free replacement of shock absorbers.

For the first time, the seven-seater Chevrolet Orlando, which is a mixture of a compact van and a crossover, made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2010. Three years later, he experienced his first and so far the only restyling, as a result of which there were some changes in his exterior. There were no fundamental changes in the appearance of the "American", but, nevertheless, he began to look better than before. Linger on russian market this, alas, did not help, because in 2015, amid the economic crisis, General Motors was forced to remove almost all Chevrolet models from Russia and leave only expensive cars, and among the "cleaned up", of course, was Orlando. It is still possible to find this model in the warehouses of Chevrolet dealers, so details about it will not be superfluous. Read about everything you need to know about the restyled Orlando in our review!

Design

They say appearance is not the main thing. Maybe, maybe ... Those who agree with this statement will surely like the Orlando of 2013, because in its essence it is very practical car... And for those who first judge by the cover, the mix of a compact van and a crossover runs the risk of not liking it, because today, when the second decade of the 21st century is gradually coming to an end, it looks frankly outdated. In a word, "brick".

During the restyling of 2013, the model changed its exterior mirrors (they had "turn signals") and front bumper... In addition, the color scheme of the body has expanded and the drawing of optional wheel rims... This is where all external innovations end. Of the so-called off-road attributes, Orlando has black plastic trims that cover the bumpers, wheel arches and door sills. Such pads reliably protect the body paintwork from rubble and sand flying out from under the wheels - for example, if you have to drive on a summer cottage primer.

Design

The car is based on General Motors' lightweight platform called Delta II. Based on a similar design, Chevrolet cruze and Opel astra (pictured), but of them Cruze to Orlando, of course, is closer, since it, unlike Astra, rear suspension also semi-dependent without Watt's mechanism. At the same time, the distance between the axles of the wheels of the Orlando is greater than that of the Cruze: 2.76 m against 2.685 m. The front and rear tracks of the Chevrolet family five-door are 1584 and 1588 mm, and for the Cruze - 1544 and 1558 mm, respectively. As for the suspension attachment points, their geometry, as well as the Orlando shock absorbers and springs, they are, of course, original. Front-wheel drive in any configuration.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

The car is not specially prepared for the Russian road realities. Full drive is not included in any of the trim levels, and the ground clearance is modest - only 165 mm, which makes the Orlando an absolutely urban option. You need to pay extra for a spare wheel, air conditioning or climate control, and from the heaters, only side mirrors, 1st row seats and rear window... The warranty is quite standard: two years without mileage limitation, or three years with a mileage limitation of 100 thousand kilometers + 6-year warranty from through corrosion... But since 2013, Orlando has a high-torque two-liter turbodiesel, and it also boasts a very roomy trunk: if loaded up to the window line, its volume is 852 liters, and up to the roof line - as much as 1487 liters.

Comfort

Orlando seven-seater (or five-seater with arshin luggage compartment) - with the "family" design, which is found in most Korean Chevrolet assembly. On the front panel there is a combination of dark, light and shiny plastic, and on the center console there is a glossy black plastic "piano lacquer". The uncomplicated instrument panel has a branded turquoise backlight. Air duct deflectors round, 3-spoke wheel, large keys and "knobs" of the climate control system - all these are different elements of many famous Chevrolet in Russia. It is immediately clear that the family Orlando borrowed from the Cruze not only a "cart" ... In the version with light leather trim, the interior looks as advantageous and friendly as possible - however, it should be borne in mind that after a certain time, his "lordship" will fade and the interior will be asked to be hanged ... You can't scold Chevrolet for this, because this problem is typical for all light interiors.

There are complaints about the seats. Firstly, the profile of the 1st row seats, obviously, was created with the expectation of too thin drivers, otherwise it would not push everyone who is larger a little forward in the area of \u200b\u200bthe shoulder blades. Secondly, the front seats have insufficiently developed lateral support - during sharp turns, it does not cope with its duties as well as we would like. Thirdly, the folding armrest of the driver's seat is too short, because of which the right elbow constantly slips off. And most of all, Chevrolet made a mistake with the "registration" of the lever, which is responsible for adjusting the inclination of the seat back. It is pushed in so far that it is almost impossible to find it from behind. For all their ergonomic miscalculations, the front seats delight with a wide range of adjustments, as does the steering column, which makes landing in the driver's seat more or less comfortable, unless, of course, we are not talking about riders under 2 meters tall. Still, there is no more legroom for tall drivers than in the "donor" four-door Cruze.

In the safety rating of the authoritative European organization Euro NCAP, Orlando earned 5 stars out of 5, gaining 80 points out of 100. Euro NCAP experts rated the protection of a driver and an adult passenger at 95%, a passenger-child at 79%, pedestrians at 49%, and electronic assistants received 71%. In a side impact crash test and in a dummy test of an 18-month-old baby, the car managed to score the maximum points, thus demonstrating real reliability. Successfully passing crash tests was helped by the not poor standard equipment, which includes 6 airbags, a tire pressure indicator, anti-lock braking (ABS) and traction control (TCS) systems, as well as stabilization systems (ESC), emergency braking (BAS) and emergency disconnection pedal assembly (PRS). In the list additional options Orlando: Around Parking Aid, Blind Spot Monitoring, Cruise Control and Rear View Camera.

A full-fledged media system will adorn the center console for an extra charge. The optional multimedia complex consists of a 7-inch color touch screen, CD / MP3 radio with 6 speakers, AUX / USB connectors and Bluetooth for connection mobile devices, steering wheel control buttons, rear view camera and navigation. The image from the camera is clear enough, and the sound, graphics and system performance are quite acceptable.

Chevrolet Orlando Specifications

The Orlando engine range, which initially included only 1.8 and 1.4 liter petrol “fours”. (141 hp / 176 Nm and 140 hp / 200 Nm, respectively), in 2013 it was replenished with a high-torque two-liter turbodiesel, presented in two power options - 130 and 163 hp. (315 Nm / 360 Nm) Each of the engines meets the Euro-5 eco-standard and is combined with a "mechanic" or with an automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer's statement, gasoline modifications consume from 6.4 to 8 liters. fuel per 100 km, and diesel - almost a liter less.

The 2010 model has retired: this month, the GM Korea division that made the five-door. However, the model was removed from the Russian market three years ago. In Korea, Orlando will not have a direct heir, but the new car was prepared in China. Surprisingly, the previous compact van was never sold here. Although, knowing the love of local buyers for this format of cars, General Motors certainly made the right decision.

In concept and size, the new Orlando practically repeats the previous model: in fact, it is a wagon of increased capacity with a clearly distinguished engine compartment and swing doors. Moreover, the official pictures show the car in the Redline configuration, which in the Chevrolet brand means "sporty" decor with red and black splashes.

The dimensions, in comparison with the Korean predecessor, have changed by no more than 32 mm in all directions: length - 4684 mm, width - 1807 mm, height - 1628 mm. The wheelbase is 2796 mm (plus 36 mm). By the way, the Chinese compact van has almost the same dimensions, and the distance between the axles coincides one to one, so it is highly likely that the new Orlando was converted from Buick.

There are options with two or three rows of seats to choose from. In the seven-seater Orlando, the middle row is skid mounted and can slide back and forth. The luggage compartment volume is shown only for the seven-seater version so far: with the third row folded down, the compartment holds 479 liters "under the shelf", and if the second row is folded down, the volume will grow to 1520 liters against 1487 for the previous model. The interior itself is without frills: classic dial gauges, single-zone climate control, media system.

The new Chevrolet Orlando will be equipped exclusively with a three-cylinder petrol turbo 1.3 (156 hp), already known from other Chinese models of the General Motors concern: this is quite enough for the local market. Transmissions - six-speed "mechanics" or "automatic" with the same number of gears.

The new Orlando will be produced by the SAIC-GM joint venture and is expected to enter the market before the end of the third quarter. But outside of China, this model is unlikely to appear.

In 2008, Americans presented the first Chevrolet Orlando concept car. The car appeared on our market two years later. The "highlight" of this minivan can be called the fact that in whatever configuration you bought it, the car is seven-seater. This car model was created on the basis of the Chevrolet Cruze. But, to this day, the question remains: where is the Chevrolet Orlando assembled for the domestic market? Before answering, I would like to mention that the path of the American concern was thorny and difficult. The concern has experienced both ups and downs. The creator of this automobile corporation is the motorsport fan William Durant.

Some time after its creation, this person was able to organize the world's largest auto concern General Motors. Today, this company has factories for the assembly of its machines in almost every developed large country in the world. The Chevrolet Orlando is assembled in four countries at once, including Russia. In the Russian Federation, the minivan is produced by the Avtotor enterprise, located in Kaliningrad. Here, only SKD is carried out, the machine itself is made in Korea. In addition, this car model is assembled in:

  • Vietnam
  • Venezuela
  • South Korea.

On the Russian market, buyers are offered this family car with gasoline and diesel power unit to choose from. The volumes of the engines are 1.8 and 2.0 liters. The car is only front-wheel drive, and the motors are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed "robot" with the possibility of manual shifting.

Distinctive features of the minivan

Every year the General Motors concern opens its factories in different countries, therefore, it's hard to say where I will still produce the Chevrolet Orlando. Compared to its predecessor, this car is 75 millimeters longer. The car is spacious enough inside, and it is very easy to recognize it by its simple body shapes, a high roof and a vertical tailgate. A Korean designer Shonga Kim worked on the appearance of the "American". In the luggage compartment there is a third row of seats, when they are folded down, the floor is perfectly flat.

The owner can fold the second row, then the area inside will increase significantly. Engineers have come up with a convenient interior transformation scheme. The exterior is made in the manner familiar to the manufacturer. Thanks to the transformation of the cabin, it is possible to carry various cargo and a considerable number of passengers. The car has sixteen types of transformation. Not many cars of this class can boast of this. Initially, the manufacturer made this model of the car specifically for the European market. After the release of the car, it became quite popular and the Americans decided to please fans and buyers from other countries of the world, including Russians.
