How to check the oil level in the automatic transmission box. How to measure the oil level in an automatic transmission? The optimal amount of oil in the automatic transmission

The gearbox is one of the most important vehicle units. Due to her, the car is set in motion. Therefore, it is important for any motorist to timely monitor the oil in the gearbox. The check should be carried out at least three times a week. If the check is not carried out in a timely manner, the lubricant may begin to leak as a result of damage to the transmission. As a result, the gearbox itself will have to be repaired.

If you do not know how to check the oil in your car's gearbox, then follow the advice below. Verification is very simple.

If the temperature is high outside, or the car has just driven several kilometers, it is better to start checking the lubrication no earlier than half an hour after stopping the engine. Accurate readings can only be taken from cooled oil. On certain models machine level transmission fluid check with the engine running. You will need gloves and a dry cloth to complete the test.

The dipstick has two marks “min” and “max”. The first is the minimum and the second is the maximum oil level. The volume of transmission fluid should be such that the level on the dipstick is as close to the "max" mark as possible.

When checking, it is important to pay attention not only to the volume of the lubricant, but also to its smell and color. If the liquid is almost black and smells like fumes, this indicates that it no longer has the desired properties. It should be replaced.

Sequence of work

You need to do the following:

  • Warm up the transmission. To do this, you need to drive about 10 kilometers by car. Stop the machine on level ground and do not turn off the engine. Press the brake pedal.
  • While holding the brake pedal, change gears. The transmission will need to be filled with grease.
  • Remove the dipstick. To do this, open the hood. The probe loop is located near the bulkhead, which separates the passenger compartment from the compartment in which the engine is located. Pull gently on the loop and remove the dipstick.
  • Wipe the zup with a cloth. Insert it back into the tube and then remove it again. The dry spot, which is on the lower level, will tell you about the volume of the transmission fluid. If everything is in order, you will need to put the dipstick back and close the hood.

The check should be carried out with a warm engine. If after checking it becomes necessary to add lubricant, try not to overfill the system. If there is a lot of lubricant, it can foam and increase in volume. Look under the car. If you notice that there are smudges of grease, then you have added too much of it.

How to check oil in manual transmission

Checking with a probe

  1. Park the machine on level ground. Wait for the oil to stand. This will take no more than 15 minutes.
  2. Open the hood. Take out the dipstick, wipe it with a cloth and put it back.
  3. Remove the dipstick again. Pay attention to the indicator. If the grease level is less than the "max" indicator, then it is necessary to top up. Use the same brand of transmission fluid. Wait until the oil has settled, and then pay attention to the indicator again. If necessary, you can top it up again.

Ideally, the lubricating fluid in the manual transmission should be slightly above the upper mark.

Checking without using a probe

  1. Park the car on an overpass and remove the protection. It is better that the tilt of the vehicle is not too great. This will allow you to add oil above the highest mark.
  2. Unscrew the filler box. Stick your finger in there. You will be able to touch the lubricant.
  3. If the need arises, add transmission fluid with a special syringe. In some cases, it is convenient to use a long tube.

If the lubrication level in the manual transmission is too low, then this may result in the failure of the gearbox. Therefore, it is so important to check in a timely manner. If you notice the first signs of an oil leak, you need to urgently check the gaskets, oil seals and crankcase mountings. If these parts are worn out, they will need to be replaced.

How much oil should be in the gearbox?

Cars different models and brands differ significantly in their design. Their transmission structure is also different. therefore different cars different amounts of oil are required. To find out how much lubricant is needed for a particular car, you can only look in the instructions for its operation or by visiting a service station. It is recommended to purchase oil with a small reserve, at least 1 liter, so that it can be refilled in the event of a leak.

There are 3 types of oil in total: synthetic, semi-synthetic and mineral. The first is the most modern. It is used mainly for automatic transmissions, but it is also suitable for manual transmissions. In an automatic transmission, it is better to change it every 50 kilometers. In the manual transmission - every 60-70.

Semi-synthetic grease is used mainly in inexpensive foreign cars. It is worth changing it every 40-50 kilometers. Mineral lubricant is used in the transmission of rear-wheel drive cars, as well as a number trucks... It requires the most frequent replacement - every 30-40 kilometers.

It does not take long to check the transmission fluid level. If you do it with the proper frequency, then you will not have to repair the gearbox. If you do not track the lubrication level in a timely manner, then it can become critically low, which is very harmful for the car.

Video: checking oil in automatic transmission

  1. Ideally, the oil in the box should be warmed up, so it is better to check it after the trip
  2. To check the oil level, the machine must be on a level, horizontal surface
  3. The engine must be running during the entire measurement.
  4. Put the car on the handbrake
  5. We open the hood, take out the dipstick, carefully wipe it with a prepared clean rag or napkin
  6. Now you need to sequentially translate the automatic transmission mode selector to all possible positions with an interval of 1-2 seconds
  7. Insert the rubbed oil dipstick and take it out back
  8. Checking the oil level

Usually, two levels are marked on the dipstick, for hot and cold: MIN and MAX for cold and MIN and MAX for hot. Since the measurement was made to hot, the level should be between the MIN and MAX marks to hot.

For an automatic transmission, unlike an engine, overflow or underfilling of oil is more critical, and overflow is even worse than underfilling.

And yet, take a clean white sheet of paper and drip a few drops of oil from the dipstick onto it. Oil on paper should be clear and reddish in color.

How to check the condition of the oil in the automatic transmission?

It is not difficult to check the condition of the oil in the automatic transmission on your own, for this you need to do the following:

When checking the oil level, pay attention to its condition
- ideally, the oil should be transparent
- there must be no air bubbles in the oil
- there must be no foreign particles in the oil
- the oil must not have a burnt smell

If at least one of the above factors is present, this indicates an unsatisfactory condition of the oil and / or, as a result, about the presence of problems with the automatic transmission

Regularly, at least at every MOT, check the condition and level of the oil in the automatic transmission. If an unsatisfactory condition of the oil is found, we recommend replacing this oil.

Remember that the resource and reliability of your automatic transmission strongly depends on the condition of the oil in the automatic transmission.

The automatic transmission is more complicated than mechanical box gear, it has both pros and cons, you can read here. The key to reliable operation of the "machine" is a sufficient oil level. That is, if the oil is in order, then there is nothing to worry about. But then the question arises: - how to check the oil level in the machine? There are some nuances here, read below ... ..

To begin with, I want to say that there are serviced gearboxes and not serviced ones. In serviced ones, you can check the oil level, but in non-serviced ones, not. For example, my Chevrolet aveo, the machine is maintenance-free, it does not have an oil dipstick, but there is a sensor that will start signaling when this level drops. But in serviced automatic transmissions you will have to observe the oil level yourself. And you can't "miss" it !!! Otherwise, a serious breakdown, and it is not cheap to repair the machine. We will check the oil level in the machine by car Nissan almera Classic, in this example you can do the same on your car, I don’t think the differences will be serious if only it is located in a different place.

So, in order to check the oil level, you need to remember a few points.

1) Checked on a warm car. That is, you must warm up the automatic transmission in order for the oil to reach working temperature... Usually a trip of 10-15 kilometers is enough.

2) Then we place the car on a flat surface. This is necessarily otherwise, you will not be able to correctly determine the level.

4) We open the hood and take out the oil dipstick, the automatic transmission, not the engine, but the automatic, do not confuse. It is usually lower. After pulled out, wipe it dry with a cloth, in order to correctly determine the oil level in the machine, insert the dipstick back, after 10 seconds, pull it back out. The oil level can now be determined.

5) There is a mark “HOT” on the probe, which means hot, there are also two risks, the upper one is above the “HOT” level and the lower one is below the “HOT” level. Ideally, the oil should be in the middle, between the top and bottom marks. That is, clearly on the inscription "HOT", if the oil below the lower mark is very bad, you need to urgently add oil. Butter "starvation" of the machine can lead to breakdown. It is also not very good when the oil is poured, that is, more than the "HOT" level, the upper parts of the automatic transmission will foam it, the excess oil will be thrown out by the "sopun", the entire automatic transmission will be in oil. And with a bad outcome, it can squeeze out the oil seals in the machine. The oil level needs to be lowered. Everything is fine on our machine.

"HOT" mark

It is also worth noting that on some models with automatic machines, the oil is checked a little differently. For example, you do not need to put the machine in the "P" mode, but in the "N" mode (neutral speed). And on some cars, but rarely, the oil is checked with the engine stopped. That is, you also warm up the oil, but before pulling out the oil dipstick, you must turn off the engine. A small hint, for boxes in which the oil needs to be checked on hot oil, with the engine running, they write “HOT” (hot) on the dipstick, for those boxes for which the engine needs to be turned off, they write “COLD” (cold). Also, sometimes the brand of oil that needs to be poured into the machine is written on the dipstick.

That's all. I hope it became a little clear.

The procedure itself for checking the oil level in the automatic transmission is not so difficult if the owner knows what to look for and where to look, but for a beginner, or a person who has recently bought new car, the issue of checking the oil in the box can cause some difficulties.

In this article, you will learn:

Where to check

Finding exactly where the oil is checked in a car is quite simple - under the hood there are bright, eye-catching dipsticks for determining the oil level.

If there are two such handles under the hood (as in the picture below), then your car has two dipsticks - one measures the level in the engine, and the second in the automatic transmission (on most front-wheel drive cars, the dipstick on the right in the direction of the car's movement shows the oil level in the engine, the dipstick , located on the left in the direction of travel, shows the oil level in the automatic transmission).

Note: on many rear-wheel drive cars with a longitudinal engine, the automatic transmission probe can be located "behind the engine" - in a narrow opening between the rear of the engine and the wall engine compartment (in this place the probe is practically invisible, you need to look for it on purpose).

If there is only one dipstick handle, then your car has only a dipstick for measuring the oil level in. The automatic transmission in such a car does not have a dipstick and the oil level in it can be determined only by lifting the car on a lift and unscrewing a special check plug (it is better not to carry out this procedure yourself without preparation - you can be left without oil in the box at all).

Probe in automatic box do not have many models of European brands - Mercedes, Opel, Volkswagen, Citroen, etc.

How to check

The first thing to do to check the oil level in any type of automatic transmission is to put the car on a flat surface and turn on the "Parking" mode.

Almost all car manuals prescribe checking the oil level in the box "hot" - when the car is warmed up to an operating temperature of 90 degrees (on many models it is even recommended to check with the engine running).

But for the "purity of the experiment" it is advisable to also check the level and "cold" - after long stay car (you can check "for cold" when the outside temperature is not below zero degrees, if the temperature is lower, the level will be inaccurate).

Probe boxes

Most oil dipsticks in automatic transmissions have four "notches" - Max and Min for hot oil and Max and Min for cold oil ("notches" can be on one side of the dipstick or on different sides).

When checking "for hot" the level should be between the upper "notches", when checking for "cold" - between the lower ones.

On some car models, the automatic oil dipstick has only two notches - Max and Min. In this case, the oil level should not be below Min and above Max both "hot" and "cold".

Note:

H and some automatic transmissions, the oil level may "spontaneously change" from time to time. This uh the effect is associated with a large number of internal cavities inside the automatic transmission, which in some cases are filled with oil, and in other cases not.

To be sure of the level exactly - the check must be performed several times at large intervals in time (every other day or two). If during 3 - 4 checks the level has never dropped below Min and has not risen above Max (both "hot" and "cold"), then there is as much oil in the box as needed.

Boxes without probe

With automatic transmissions, in which the dipstick is not provided, checking the oil level takes much more time and effort. In fact, you cannot simply "check the level" in such a box, you can only "set" it.

The automatic transmission, which does not have a probe, is equipped with a special "overflow system" consisting of a special tube installed in drainer in the pallet and a control plug covering the hole in the tube.

The height of the tube determines the required oil level in the automatic transmission. When unscrewing the control plug, all excess oil that is above the level of the upper hole in the tube is drained.

Such a system was invented to protect against possible oil overflow during its replacement (which is very harmful for automatic transmissions), but creates quite a lot of difficulties for the car owner who cannot check the level and degree of oil contamination in the box in the "usual way".

To check the level, you need to drive the car onto a lift or "hang" its front part on jacks, observing the horizontal position of the machine. In this case, the car should be warmed up (but not after a long trip, which greatly warms up the oil in the automatic transmission).

When unscrewing drain plug you need to be prepared for the fact that a small amount of oil will flow out of it, which has got into the tube during the operation of the box. By collecting this oil in a container, you can determine the degree of contamination of all the oil in the box and the need to replace it.

Then, it is necessary to add about 100-200 grams of oil into the filler neck of the automatic transmission and watch it flowing out through the drain hole. If the oil starts to drip, then the level is correct, if not, you need to add until it starts dripping.

In view of such difficulties, many owners of cars with boxes without a dipstick prefer to set the required automatic transmission oil level in good service, along with a regular replacement - for example, once a year. This approach, of course, makes the car more expensive to operate, but it saves the owner from "fiddling" with the box.

Why check

Periodic oil checks, both in the engine and transmission, are useful for two reasons.

Firstly, with regular operation, the car owner is able to timely notice and prevent oil leakage, due to which the automatic transmission, which is extremely expensive, very often fails.

And secondly, when checking, the degree of contamination of the oil is immediately visible, which is partly an "indicator of the correctness" of the gearbox operation. If it suddenly turns out that after a month or two after changing the oil suddenly became too dirty, it means that something in the automatic transmission is not working properly and its work should be diagnosed.

Automatic transmission fluid is a very special oil. It has unique characteristics and must retain its properties at temperatures from -40 to +400 degrees. The oil serves not only to lubricate the automatic transmission mechanisms, it helps to cool the box and is a working fluid. It is the oil that transfers the torque from the engine to the wheels of the car through the automatic transmission. And at the expense of oil, gear changes are made. Without oil, the automatic transmission simply will not work, and if something is wrong with it, it will quickly fail. Therefore, so that the car does not become real estate, it is necessary to carefully monitor the level and condition of the oil.

Oils for automatic transmission of different cars

The symptoms of most automatic transmission problems are in its abnormal operation:

  • dynamics falls, the behavior of the car and its accelerating characteristics change;
  • when shifting gears, jerks, delays are observed;
  • one or more programs are missing;
  • box self-diagnosis system shows errors on the dashboard;
  • the car does not move when the gear is engaged;
  • the box makes strange sounds: howling, crackling, grinding, banging, and so on.

How to check the oil level in an automatic transmission?

Diagnostics of any changes in automatic transmission operation begins with diagnostics of the oil condition.

In most cars, it is quite easy to see the oil level in the automatic transmission.

The procedure looks like this:

On some automatic transmissions, the measurement rules may differ. For example, it is possible to correctly determine the oil level in them only on a cold one. In such automatic transmissions, only the COLD inscription is present on the dipstick. On some probes, the marks may not be related to temperature conditions at all and have a different designation (for example, OK), or they may simply be notches or non-letter marks on the dipstick. In some vehicles, the measurement is carried out with the engine running or with the gear selector in neutral.

On modern automatic transmissions, the probe may not be at all. Manufacturers began to create their transmissions maintenance-free. That is, the oil in them is designed for the entire service life of the car or until the first overhaul... Some of these automatic transmissions, indeed, fulfill the manufacturer's statement. But not all. In addition, most drivers drive a car with automatic transmission completely incorrectly and subject them to unnecessary stress. Add to this the harsh continental climate: driving in two-hour traffic jams at a temperature of +40 or driving at -40 with constant warming up and slipping on ice and snow.

Car while driving on a snowy road

As a result, oil in maintenance-free automatic transmissions behaves exactly the same as in serviced ones. It turns black, saturated with fragments and remains of the box mechanisms, contaminated with the remains of plastic and rubber. And it loses its properties, which further leads to the failure of the transmission. They say about such boxes that it is really possible not to change the oil of 200,000 kilometers, just then, along with the oil change, the box itself changes.

Fortunately, it is still possible to change the oil or just monitor its level on such cars. Instead of a dipstick, they have a control hole through which the oil level is correctly set if the box needs repair.

The measurement procedure on such vehicles is as follows:

  1. The automatic transmission warms up, for this, the car drives from 5 to 20 kilometers.
  2. Then the car is driven onto a horizontal platform. But this is on condition that in order to get to control hole no pit or lift needed.
  3. The cork is unscrewed. If the oil has spilled, its level is ok. It is better to use a container and see how much has poured out - the level may be higher than normal. If the oil does not flow, then it must be topped up.

Topping up oil in a maintenance-free automatic transmission when its level is low

If the oil level in the box is low, it must be topped up immediately. The box itself cannot consume oil like an engine. If the level has dropped significantly or is constantly falling, then there is a leak somewhere in the box. Low level oil is very bad for the box. Those mechanisms and parts of it that receive less oil begin to burn and fail. Low oil level leads to malfunction temperature regime, a sharp decrease in the resource of the automatic transmission, a decrease in pressure in the automatic transmission and the breakdown of its individual parts. Without oil, the box is able to drive very little and such a mockery ends in a very, very expensive repair. The consequences can be very different - from none to complete replacement machine.

If the oil level in the automatic transmission is too high, this is also bad. If it is higher than the norm, the oil begins to foam and loses its properties. The effect is the same as when understated.

Do not confuse foamed oil with isolated air bubbles. Their appearance is almost normal and occurs when the probe is taken out. The foamed oil is uniform in structure. Various oils have different odors, but none of them smell like fumes. They also differ in color.

Drainage of used dirty oil from automatic transmission

But during the operation of the car, the oil inevitably darkens, becomes cloudy and crumbs and small metal filings appear in it. When changing the oil, remember its original color.

Dirty oil can cause irreparable damage to the box. Particles of metal in the oil will begin to abrasively process all the insides of the box, the valve body will be the first to suffer. It will begin to issue abnormal pressure, which will lead to an expansion of the list of breakdowns. Sooner or later, some package of clutches will burn out and its glue base will get into the oil, which will saturate the rest of the clutches and very soon they will all fail. Minor symptoms will progress in progression until the box just dies one day. And it is likely that there will be nothing to fix in it.

How to check oil level in automatic transmissions of popular car brands. Tips and Features

Toyota Corolla and Camry v40

Level transmission oil for Toyota Corolla and Camry v40 is measured only on a warm car, you cannot measure on a cold one. To do this, you need to drive a Toyota Corolla and Camry v40 at least 5 kilometers. After warming up the engine, the selector lever for Toyota Corolla and Camry v40 is set in position P.

Oil measurement in Toyota Corolla and Camry v40 automatic transmissions should be carried out on a flat area of \u200b\u200bland. Under the hood of the Toyota Corolla and Camry v40, you need to find a dipstick for measuring the oil. In order to see the oil level after a trip to the Toyota Corolla and Camry v40, you need to wipe the dipstick with a rag. On the dipstick of Toyota Corolla and Camry v40 there will be two marks HOT and COLD. We will be interested in the HOT mark, which will show what the oil level is in the heated Toyota Corolla and Camry v40 cars.

Toyota Prado 120

Toyota Prado 120 does not have a dipstick for measuring the oil level, this automatic transmission is maintenance-free. But in the conditions of Russia, it is better to change the oil on the Prado 120 every 80,000 kilometers. The algorithm for measuring oil in the Prado 120 is similar to other automatic transmissions without a dipstick. If the oil level in the Prado 120 automatic transmission is higher than the norm, this is a sign of a malfunction in the operation of the box.

Chevrolet Cruze

There is no dipstick in the Chevrolet Cruze automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Cruze automatic transmission is maintenance-free; manufacturers claim that the oil will last for a long service life of the car. Despite this, the level and condition of the Chevrolet Cruze automatic transmission oil can still be checked. To do this, you need to lift the Chevrolet Cruze onto a lift and find the control plug on the automatic transmission.

After the control plug of the Chevrolet Cruze is unscrewed, oil will flow from there, and if it has not poured, then the oil level in the Chevrolet Cruze automatic transmission is insufficient. If the oil in the Chevrolet Cruze automatic transmission has normal level, then it will not be superfluous to see its condition. You can add oil to the Chevrolet Cruze automatic transmission through the breather at the top of the box.

Peugeot 206, 307, 308, Renault Sandero and Citroen C4

Peugeot models 206, 307, 308, Renault Sandero and Citroen C4 are equipped with automatic transmission AL4. Automatic transmissions Peugeot 206, 307, 308, Renault Sandero and Citroen C4 are maintenance-free. However, due to design features Automatic transmissions Peugeot 206, 307, 308 and Renault Sandero are very sensitive to the condition of the oil. Peugeot 206, 307, 308 and Renault Sandero gearboxes with insufficient oil level overheat and fail. You can measure the oil level on automatic transmissions Peugeot 206, 307, 308 and Renault Sandero using the control hole. The procedure for measuring the oil level on automatic transmissions Peugeot 206, 307, 308 and Renault Sandero is similar to other maintenance-free boxes. To measure automatic transmissions Peugeot 206, 307, 308 and Renault Sandero must be warmed up after driving at least 5 kilometers. Service station experts recommend, before measuring, sequentially switch the automatic transmission selector for Peugeot 206, 307, 308, Renault Sandero and Citroen C4 in all positions, lingering in each for 30-60 seconds.

Ford Focus

Automatic transmission Ford Focus maintenance-free. The oil in the Ford Focus automatic transmission is calculated up to the first overhaul - this is approximately 120,000 kilometers. Automatic transmission Ford Focus has a control hole through which the oil level is measured. To measure, you need to warm up the Ford Focus automatic transmission, it is impossible to correctly determine the level on a cold one. The real oil level of the Ford Focus automatic transmission can only be measured on a flat surface, after the car has warmed up. If the Ford Focus automatic transmission oil does not flow out of the control hole, then its level is insufficient. There is a filler for the oil fill in the Ford Focus automatic transmission. It is recommended to check the oil level in Ford Focus at least once every 60,000 runs.

Hyundai Solaris IX35 and Accent

Automatic transmission Hyundai Solaris IX35 and Accent do not need an oil change, it is filled for the entire service life of the box. The automatic transmissions Hyundai Solaris IX35 and Accent have a dipstick for checking the transmission oil level. To correctly measure the oil level in the automatic transmission Hyundai Solaris IX35 and Accent, it is necessary to warm up the box, having driven 20 kilometers on it. It is not recommended to measure in an unheated machine, as the result may be inaccurate. Correct measurement of the oil level in the automatic transmission Hyundai Solaris IX35 and Accent is possible only on a level surface.

Some Hyundai Solaris IX35 automatic transmissions come without a dipstick for measuring the oil level. For such automatic transmissions Hyundai Solaris IX35, it is necessary to measure the level through the control hole. Unscrewing the Solaris IX35 plug will pour oil out of it. If more than 0.5 liters of oil from Solaris IX35 flows out, this means that the level is higher than necessary. Driving the Solaris IX35 with an oil level below the norm can have dire consequences, as well as with an overestimate.

Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento

On the automatic transmissions of Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento, there is a dipstick for measuring oil. To correctly measure the oil level of the automatic transmissions of Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento, you will need to warm up the car. This is necessary in order to measure the amount of oil accurately, and this cannot be done in an unheated machine. The measurement of the oil level of the automatic transmission Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento is carried out on a flat surface so that there are no imbalances in the oil level inside the box. Then you need to remove the automatic transmission dipstick for Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento, wipe it and insert it back into place. For a warmed-up automatic transmission of Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento, you must look at the HOT mark. If the automatic transmission oil of Kia Rio, Sid and Sorento is at this level, then everything is fine. If the level is higher or lower, it can have serious consequences for the transmission.

Volkswagen Bora, Tuareg, Jetta and B5

Volkswagen cars are equipped with various automatic transmissions - both serviced and not. Volkswagen Bora and Tuareg of the new generation are equipped with maintenance-free boxes. For Volkswagen Tuareg and Bora, the procedures for monitoring the transmission fluid level are similar to other automatic transmissions without a dipstick.

Opel Astra

Opel Astra is equipped with maintenance-free automatic transmissions. To measure the oil level in the automatic transmission Astra, you must use the control hole. When removing the control hole plug from the Astra automatic transmission, oil will flow. If this does not happen, then the oil level in the Astra is low, which means it is necessary to top up it.

Audi A6

The oil in the automatic transmission Audi A6 is filled for the entire service life of the automatic transmission. It Audi A6 can serve until the first repair or overhaul. The overhaul period of the Audi A6 automatic transmission comes after 200,000 kilometers. In order to increase the lifespan of the Audi A6 automatic transmission oil, it is better to check the oil level every 50,000 kilometers, for this there is a control hole.

Mercedes w210

On the Mercedes w210, automatic transmissions can be found both with a probe and without it. If the automatic transmission Mercedes w210 has a dipstick, then measurements are made on a warm car.

Oil dipstick in automatic transmission Mercedes w210

If there is no probe on the automatic transmission Mercedes w210, then measurements can be made only by lifting the car on a lift and finding a control hole. If oil poured out of the control hole of the automatic transmission Mercedes w210, then everything is in order. By draining the w210 oil into a container, it is necessary to check how much it will leak. If the level is above the norm, this indicates that the automatic transmission is not working properly.

Infiniti G35 and FX35

On the probes of the automatic transmission Infiniti G35 and FX35 there is only one OK mark, according to which the compliance of the level with the recommended one is determined. If the oil level in the G35 and FX35 is higher than normal, this indicates a malfunction in the automatic transmission, diagnostics are needed.

Dodge Stratus

These cars have a dipstick with standard markings.

Sanyeng Kyron

Automatic transmission Kyron is maintenance-free, but it is recommended to watch the oil level at least once every 20,000 kilometers due to the low reliability of the box. A control hole serves for level tracking.

Mazda CX series

The oil in the Mazda CX series is checked using a dipstick. On the CX 7, for example, it has a bright red mark on which the oil level can be easily determined. The measurement of the oil level on the automatic transmission CX is carried out after the car warms up to a temperature of 65 0 C.

Nissan Qashqai

The automatic transmission Nissan Qashqai does not have a dipstick for measuring oil. Automatic transmissions from Nissan are very reliable, leaks are very rare. In extreme cases, in such a Nissan automatic transmission, the oil level can be measured using the control hole. It is recommended to arrange such checks in Nissan every 60,000 runs. Driving at a low oil level in a Nissan automatic transmission or when it is higher than normal can be dangerous for the box.

Volvo XC90

Getting to the dipstick of the Volvo XC90 automatic transmission will be quite problematic. For some reason Volvo placed it in a hard-to-reach place: between the cooling pipes and the wiring. It is recommended to check the oil level in Volvo every 50,000–60,000 kilometers.
