Legendary Mercedes Gelendvagen or simply Gelik. Mercedes Gelendvagen: unfading classic White Gelik

Mercedes-Benz G-class is the most expensive serial crossover officially presented on the Azerbaijani market. But 350 thousand dollars for the G 65 AMG version is not the limit. We have collected the top tuned "Heliks", the cost and equipment of which amazed us.

There is hardly any rational motivation in buying Gelandewagen. You will not save a single drop of fuel (but rather the opposite), the smoothness of the ride will not lull you and your companions, but the agility and drive guaranteed by truly sporty mercedes-Benz models, do not expect from the most incredible tuning of the G-klasse. However, the brutal and angular forms of Gelendvagen have their own charm and their own charm, and the additional power and exclusivity of the external appearance have not harmed any car.

GSC // Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG

The cost upon request from the manufacturer.

What is in the tuning kit... A complete set to satisfy the fantasy of the owner of Gelandewagen. German Special Customs suggests re-tuning the ECM and adding its own tuned exhaust to make the G-Class a little faster. In addition, the speedometer needle no longer rests on the limiter, but describes a full circle up to 320 km / h.

The exterior package includes wide front and rear bumpers, a new logo in the center of the grille, widened wheel arches with rectangular profiles, LEDs in the bumper and under the headlights, carbon parts on the hood and fenders, and side mirrors with carbon fiber coating.

The already mentioned customized outlet ends with a pair of rectangular pipes in front of each rear wheelsand the black 23-inch rims themselves are designed and made directly by GSC. The finishing touch is leather trim and a range of carbon fiber trims.

What's the output... After the work of the craftsmen from GSC, the V8 power in the G 63 AMG exceeded 615 hp. - the standard output of the G 65 AMG, equipped, among other things, with a V12 engine, and began to be 620 hp, but the dynamic characteristics can only be guessed at. The car has become a real show stopper, and there is hardly even one of the same in your yard. But the orange-red tuned in the GSC Gelandewagen has definitely ceased to be the brutal car of the lads from the 90s.

G 63 AMG 6x6

The cost (tuning kit) from $ 470,000.

What's in the tuning kit. This is how Mercedes-Benz sees a real SUV. With 6x6 drive, reduction gear, five differential locks, portal axles, tire pressure regulating system and special impenetrable suspension. Probably for $ 670,000 (roughly the price of a G 63 AMG 6x6 "assembled"), the owner wants not only unlimited off-road potential, but also a comfortable and exclusive trimmed interior. Get it: Even the loading dock is finished in massive bamboo, and the interior is finished in designo leather in red or light brown. In addition, all four freestanding chairs are electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated.

What's the output. an SUV at a cost equal to three and a half "regular" G 63 AMG is not afraid of mud, sand or swamps. And if all the rest of the tuned Mercedes-Benz G-class are at least a little, but similar to each other, then the G 63 AMG 6x6 - exclusive car 100%. True, for "exclusive" money.

Carlsson // Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6

The cost there is no data.

What's in the tuning kit... According to the authors of the project, the 6-wheel all-terrain vehicle Mercedes-Benz AMG received a rough exterior, exclusive interior trim and a boosted engine. As for the latter, everything is clear: by reconfiguring the control unit, it was possible to remove an additional 106 hp, which were very useful for a 4-ton SUV.

Salon standard car And so it was distinguished by finishing with expensive materials, so here it is appropriate to recall Carlsson's motto "The Best Way" and about the "enemy of the good."

The exterior of the G 63 AMG 6x6 Carlsson was also edited, but in the press release of Carlsson they kept silent about the specifics, and with the naked eye the differences from Mercedes-Benz were hardly distinguishable. Except maybe new wheels and a radiator grille, bearing the manufacturer's emblem in the center.

What's the output... Of all the modifications offered by Carlsson, the most valuable is the CK63 Performance Kit, which adds 106 hp to the car. This module will not damage the 3.8-ton vehicle and will make the joint creation of Mercedes-Benz and AMG even faster.

ART G Streetline 65 Wide Body // Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG

The cost tuning kit strongly depends on the selected options and is not indicated by the manufacturer.

The tuning kit includes... As the name suggests, the kit's mission is to make the body of the G-Class much wider. For this, an impressive front bumper with integrated spoiler, LED running boards, wide arches with a "step", as well as a rear bumper with integrated lights (fog and reversing) hidden behind the longitudinal bars of the grilles.

The kit also includes LED taillights and xenon headlights, ART's own forged wheels, and a tuned exhaust system with 6 stainless steel pipes. In the cabin, there is nothing out of the ordinary: completely leather trim of everything that only a passenger's or driver's hand touches.

The only exception. These are the multimedia system monitors sticking out of the headrests of the front seats. So that this whole widebody car can move quickly, ART engineers are offering to help increase engine power by recalibrating the engine and a new exhaust system, as well as additional cooling for the engine.

What's the output... A very non-trivial project, because in addition to the typical set of "other bumpers, nets and headlights", ART has enriched the G-class with wide body panels, as well as excellent engine power indicators. The top-of-the-line variant based on the G 65 AMG gained 150 hp, reaching 750 hp. and 1000 Newtons per meter of torque!

Brabus 800 "iBusiness" // Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG

The cost car about $ 1,165,000.

The tuning kit includes... They entered Вrabus from an unusual side. If most tuners think that G-Class owners lack originality in appearance, then this part of the Bottrop craftsmen was practically ignored. Having taught the engine of the most powerful G-Class to produce 800 hp, they turned the SUV into a mobile office crammed with gadgets. Chief among them, the Mac Mini, is used with the Apple TV Box and Power Amplifier.

A specially designed center tunnel extends from the front seats to the top edge of the rear seat backrest. It houses a refrigerator for soft drinks, multimedia components, including a docking station with built-in chargers for iPad mini and iPod, plus hidden storage space for keyboard and mouse to connect to Mac Mini.

The main screen for displaying multimedia information is a 15.6-inch LCD monitor in the ceiling, which can be rotated and completely hidden. There is even a high-speed modem and a wireless LAN for connecting to the Internet.

In addition to the "multimedia" tuning, Brabus added wide arches to the car, which house 23-inch wheels, adjustable Bilstein dampers, completely redesigned and finished in leather and Alcantara interior and many other interesting details.

What's the output... It's hard to imagine a more powerful and luxurious place to play Angry Birds. Even if you have $ 1,170,000, but no tablet, we hasten to please: the iPad Mini is already standard on the Brabus 800 "iBusiness".

Mansory Gronos // Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG

The cost car 1,100,000 euros.

The tuning kit includes... First of all, a set to increase power to 814 hp. from standard 544. In fact, this new engine: Mansory only left the cylinder block, replacing the block head, crankshafts, pistons, connecting rods and other components. The tuners also installed a new exhaust system, ending with pipes leading out in front of the rear wheels.

The hood with a wide air intake, a stylish "chubby" radiator grille, new bumpers and 23-inch wheels with Dutch Vredestein tires designed by Giugiaro are responsible for the spectacular appearance. LED optics and wheel arch extensions complete the picture. The Mansory Gronos interior has been redesigned with carbon fiber inserts and leather upholstery, a new steering wheel and other minor details.

What's the output... Nothing unusual, just Gelandewagen - the owner of the most charged motor from our review. And at the same time, the V8 from the G 63 AMG version is taken as a basis, and the final power exceeds the V12 modified by competitors from the G 65 AMG, the development of which in Mansory is about to finish.

Prior Design Widebody // Mercedes-Benz G-Class

The cost tuning kit $ 27,500.

The tuning kit includes... As the name of the company suggests, the guys are only interested in design. No kits for changing the clearance, modified ECUs and additional rear axles... Exterior styling only! The Prior Design G-class exterior is offered with a set of simple bumpers with integrated optics, front and rear fender extensions, and a stunning multi-slotted hood. The above price includes 23-inch wheel disks complete with tires, LED headlights and fog lights in the front bumper, as well as branded exhaust systems.

What's the output... Mercedes-Benz G-class is a car, if for racing, then certainly not asphalt. And he doesn't really need a large-scale "livestock" under the hood. But after 800-horsepower G-classes from Brabus, Mansory or ART, Prior Design's creation looks a little faded - despite the bright body kit, you realize that inside it is a regular G-class, maybe even a 211-horsepower base G350 BlueTec for some $ 100,000 ...

Vorsteiner // Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG

The cost tuning kit unknown.

The tuning kit includes... Vorsteiner are far from the easiest tuning masters in Germany. In addition to the usual studio for the revision of the "Germans" (BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche) and Range rover, they also have a Vorsteiner Nero special unit for fine-tuning exotic car brands such as Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maclaren and Rolls-Royce.

But despite the wide portfolio of brands, Vorsteiner modifications are neat and exceptionally stylistic. A set was prepared for the G-class ... rims! And that's all. Wheels are really good: 22 inches, matte, black, with great tires Pirelli scorpion... However, Vorsteiner employees have already written on their official website that the aero kit for Gelandewagen is about to be ready and there is very little time left to wait.

What's the output... Ideal for those who want to hide the fact of tuning their G-class from others. If it's no joke, then correctly selected wheels make up 50% of the car's appearance. And I am sure that many of our readers will agree that the real G-class does not need either a bright red body, or wide arches, or even more so an 800-horsepower engine. Everything that is needed was installed into it at the factory, and all that needs to be added is two pairs of large and exclusive discs.

As a result, we want to offer you an interesting video to watch.

Just a couple of years ago, the famous Gelendvagen celebrated the 38th anniversary of its production - this model in production since 1979.

You will not surprise anyone with such a period on the conveyor - many successful cars of Japanese manufacturers are also produced for a long time. But in Mercedes Gelendvagen, the main thing is different - over the years, the design of an SUV has remained practically unchanged.

Yes, certain improvements and additions are being made to it, and in terms of decoration, the restyled 2015 model stands out strongly from the previous generation - but the general concept remains constant, and for an uninitiated person to distinguish the 463rd body from the previous one will be an almost insoluble task.

So, despite the somewhat outdated, according to critics, appearance and unsightly design, Mercedes-Benz is not planning to remove the G-class from production or make any radical changes to the design.

The best evidence of this is the model update that took place in 2015. Neither externally nor technically Gelik did not receive any major changes - all major improvements have been made to the interior and the line of more powerful and economical power units. The photo shows the version of the G63 AMG.

Exterior

As mentioned above, there is nothing new in the appearance of the restyled Mercedes Gelendvagen. The same angular, brutal-looking body mounted on a powerful ladder-type frame is a legacy of the army's off-road past. The frame, consisting of U-profiles and side members, has an additional layer of polymer protection, which reliably protects the metal from premature corrosion and increases its rigidity.

The main difference between the Gelika body is modified shape of the front bumper, with air intakes located at the corners and new mirrors... In the lower part of the body, a rounded underbody protection is installed at the front.

Another difference is the new optics. The SUV received LED daytime running lights, LED integrated into the rear bumper fog lights, as well as turn signals with illumination of the near space. Front bumper foglights now have a side light option.

If outside the Mercedes Gelendvagen makes an impression utility all-terrain vehicle, then an atmosphere of luxury and comfort reigns inside, second only to the Bentley Bentayga.

Natural leather, wood, high-quality fabrics, polished metal and carbon are widely used in interior decoration. The comfortable front seats have a pneumatic support function and an electric height and tilt adjustment with memory.

There are also three full-fledged seats at the back, but due to the design, there is not as much space as it seems. All seats are electrically heated as standard, but their shape is far from ideal - no lateral support, low head restraints and flat cushions will not let you relax on a long journey. In this regard, the Mercedes G-Class is inferior to modern crossovers such as the Range Rover Velar.

The dashboard is of the classic type, with two shafts and a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The buttons located on the steering wheel can not only control devices and regulate the operation of the multimedia system, but also receive incoming calls, control on-board computer and much more.

The center console has a somewhat archaic shape, there are air vents and control keys onboard systems... Above it is a 7.0-inch remote display of the latest COMAND Online multimedia system with an additional controller on the armrest. It includes a USB CD / DVD player, a wireless interface, an 80GB hard drive, phone connectivity and an internet browser.

The surround sound system from Harmon / Kardon and the interior lighting Ambient Lighting are already installed in the standard version of the Gelik, as is the THERMATIC dual-zone climate control.

Specifications

The main difference between the updated Mercedes Gelendvagen is new gasoline and diesel engines.

  • G350... This version is equipped with a 3.0-liter OM642 6-cylinder V-turbo engine. It is capable of developing a capacity of 245 liters. from. and reach a torque of 600 Nm, and a top speed of 192 km / h, acceleration - 8.8 s.
  • G500 equipped with atmospheric gasoline engine M176 V8 with a volume of 4.0 liters. Power is equal to 422 liters. with., and the torque reaches 530 Nm. Maximum speed - 210 km / h, acceleration - 5.9 s.
  • Version G63 AMG with the M157 DE55LA biturbo engine, with a volume of 5.5 liters, it was possible to squeeze out 571 hp. and reach a torque of 760 Nm. With this engine, the SUV is able to reach a speed of 210 km / h.

Despite the fact that all motors, without exception, became at least 7-10% more powerful, the engineers managed to achieve fuel efficiency. For example, with the new engine, the fuel consumption of the G500 is 12.4 l / 100 km versus 17.6 l for the previous version.

Gelik is equipped with two variants of 7-speed automatic transmissions:

  • The G350 and G500 are equipped with 7G-TRONIC PLUS.
  • For top versions For the G63 AMG and G65 AMG, the more powerful AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission is offered. Its main feature is three operating modes, one of which allows you to manually shift gears using paddle shifters.

Both transmissions are equipped with low gears and differential locks to give the SUV confidence in all terrain.

Video

The updated 2018-2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, which traditionally opens its doors in January. The car in the back of the W463, leading its history since 1990, has gone through another modernization, which almost did not affect the external design, but seriously affected the interior decoration, equipment and technical equipment models. The new Mercedes Gelendvagen 2018-2019 will go on sale in June this year at a price of 107,040 euros (about 7.37 million rubles). This is how much the G 500 version with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 422 hp will cost in Germany. power and 610 Nm of torque. The cost of diesel and "charged" (Mercedes-AMG G 63) modifications will be announced later. Assembling the new Mercedes Gelandewagen is still planned at the plant in the Austrian Graz.

New body: dimensions and cross-country ability

Without becoming to change something radically in appearance, the developers thoroughly revised the power structure of the SUV. It is based, as before, on a ladder frame, but its rigidity was increased by 55% - from 6537 to 10162 Nm / deg.

Frame of the new G-Class

The body mated to the frame, consisting mainly of high-strength steels, received some aluminum elements - these are doors, hood and fenders. As a result of improvements new G-Class dropped 170 kg from its original weight, but at the same time retained a curb weight of more than two tons.

Body

During the update, the Mercedes Gelendvagen added in dimensions - the length increased by 53 mm (up to 4715 mm), the width increased by 121 mm (up to 1881 mm). The ground clearance has increased by six millimeters, reaching 241 mm. The geometric cross-country ability of the body of the German all-terrain vehicle, albeit quite a bit, has improved: the entry angle was 31 degrees (+1), the ramp angle was 26 degrees (+2), the exit angle was 30 degrees (unchanged). The maximum fordable depth has increased to 700 mm (+100 mm).

Spot edits to the appearance

Mercedes designers very carefully approached the correction of the appearance of the charismatic and still successfully selling SUV (about 20 thousand units sold in 2016). New model retained the classic profile and characteristic chopped shape, returning to the military past of the car. Also, branded "chips" have not gone anywhere - a flat windshield, a towering hood, lurid door handles with buttons, outer door hinges, a spare wheel enclosed in a casing on the fifth door.

Photo Mercedes G-class 2019-2020

However, innovations on the body of the modernized Mercedes G-Class enough, even if not all of them are easily identified with a cursory examination. First of all, the novelty is given out by the redesigned nose part of the body, which has acquired lED headlights and a new bumper with corners smoothed to improve pedestrian safety. Finding other differences from it is a little more difficult, but a careful glance will easily detect a different location of the gas tank flap (from now on to the right above the rear wing), the absence of seals in windscreen, disappearance of air ducts on the front fenders, rounded corners of the doors. Another nuance is fit body parts the new Gelendvagen is made more carefully, so the gaps between them are now minimal.

New stern design

The revised contours of the SUV did not affect its aerodynamic performance. The Cx of the new G-Wagen is the same as the previous version of the model - 0.54.

Large-scale reorganization of the salon

If from the outside Gelendvagen remained 100% recognizable, then inside it has literally changed in every detail. At the same time, it is curious that the woman designer Lilia Chernaeva was in charge of modifying the interior of, perhaps, the most "male" car. It is not surprising that during the development the bias was made towards manufacturability and comfort, however, in the new vision there was a place for clumsy and even rude elements that did not allow us to forget that this is the interior of a brutal SUV, and not a sedan or coupe. But first things first.

First, let's focus on the thoroughly redesigned front panel, in the design of which there are a lot of borrowings from the latest Mercedes-Benz sedans and. For example, the new steering wheel with a convenient joystick for gearbox control, obviously, went to Gelendvagen from the flagship four-door. As for the round ventilation deflectors, which replaced the archaic rectangular ones, they no doubt migrated from. In general, the panel as a whole and the center console in particular began to look much more stylish thanks to the emergence of modern information displays and button blocks.

Photo of the interior of Gelandewagen in basic configuration

But let's make a reservation right away that two advanced 12.3-inch screens combined into a single unit and placed under one glass are not relied on for all versions of the new G-class, but only for expensive ones. In the initial version, the car is equipped with a classic dashboard with arrow pointers. But the control panel for the Comand Online multimedia system is present in all trim levels and is located on a completely renewed inter-passenger tunnel, which has gotten rid of the gearshift lever (now the gears are switched on the steering column) and the handbrake handle (now the electric parking brake is used). Unloading the tunnel also made it possible to organize a double-leaf armrest box and a pair of cup holders. Only a handrail for the front passenger and three catchy differential lock control buttons on the console (located exactly between the air vents) remind of the old Gelika in the cabin of the new model.

Photo of the salon of the top version

Top configurations new Mercedes The G-Class will delight you with an unprecedented abundance of available equipment. In addition to the tandem of 12.3-inch screens, the list of equipment includes several finishes using high-quality materials (leather, Alcantara, wood, aluminum), fully electrified Active Multicontour Seat front seats (heating, massage, ventilation, adjustable lateral support), three-zone climate -the control, wireless charger smartphones, premium acoustics Burmester with 16 speakers.

First row seats

All of the above improvements are good, but the main positive result of the update in relation to the Gelendvagen salon is still an increase in its size, and as a result, the amount of free space in both rows. First of all, the front landing pattern has changed - now the riders will not feel cramped in the shoulders, and the driver will receive additional space for the right leg, so that he will be able to comfortably manipulate the pedals (surprisingly, there were problems with this in the pre-reform car). The increase in the comfort of seating front passengers has a digital expression: the increase in the leg area is 38 mm, the same amount has become more spacious in the shoulder area.

Rear seats

More coziness and hospitality are now ready to offer the rear seats Mercedes Gelendvagen. Firstly, passengers in the second row will immediately feel more freedom due to the fact that the distance between the backrests of the front and rear seats increased by as much as 150 mm, and an additional 27 mm of headroom appeared in the shoulder area. Secondly, the sofa itself has become much more comfortable, it is equipped with adjustable backrests and a central armrest, behind which is a hatch for long lengths. And finally, thirdly, rear passengers will receive for use a personal control panel for the climate control system (three-zone "climate" is not available for all versions) and spacious door pockets.

Specifications Mercedes Gelandewagen 2019-2020

The specialists of the Mercedes-AMG division worked on the chassis of the new Gelendvagen. They completely redefined old design, as a result of which the SUV acquired a front independent double-lever, which is attached directly to the frame (a subframe was previously used). At the back, a continuous axle was installed on the car, supplemented by four levers and a Panhard rod.

Chassis Mercedes Gelendvagen

The drive of the novelty, of course, is full. Transfer case combined with a gearbox, there is a reduction gear (ratio 2.93) and a blocking of three differentials (a mechanical central differential with an electronically controlled locking clutch). As standard, the thrust is distributed between the front and rear axles in a ratio of 40/60. You can change the driving mode using the Dynamic Select switch, which provides five driving programs: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual and G-Mode. When you select one mode or another, the settings for the operation of the motor, gearbox, electric power steering and adaptive shock absorbers are adjusted. The inclusion of any of the locks or "lowering" initiates the forced activation of "G-Mode" regardless of the current position of the selector.

From the first days of sales, the new Gelandewagen will be offered in just one version - Mercedes-Benz G 500. Under the hood of such a car, a 4.0 V8 gasoline turbo unit with 422 hp output will be registered. and 610 Nm. A pair of it will be a nine-speed "automatic" 9G-Tronic. Manufacturer's estimates average consumption fuel G500 should fluctuate around 11.1 liters per 100 km.

By the end of 2018 - early 2019, the line of modifications of the G-class will be replenished with a "charged" Mercedes-AMG G 63 with a 612-horsepower V8 engine and a diesel version with a 2.9-liter "six" (supposed index G 400d).
