The new version features an additional portion of chrome on the radiator grille, standard lED headlights, 19-inch wheels, modified rear bumper and additional nameplates with the equipment name. But the main changes are still in the cabin: these are seat upholstery with expensive leather, two-tone trim, electric front seats, as well as rich standard equipment, which is offered for an additional charge for other versions. In addition, Kodiaq Laurin & Klement is the first in the family to have a virtual instrument cluster.

But that's not all. Along with the appearance of an expensive version, Kodiaq experienced a small technical update... A 1.5 TSI petrol turbo engine (150 hp) has appeared in the European engine range, which will replace the 1.4 TSI engine of the same power. And the output of the 2.0 TSI engine has been increased from 180 to 190 "horses", although it has been in China for a long time. In addition, a new version of the seven-speed "robot" DSG has appeared, which is installed on cars with gasoline engines 2.0 TSI and 150 hp 2.0 TDI diesel.

How all these changes will affect the machines for Russia, we will learn after the launch of local production in Nizhny Novgorod: crossovers russian assembly should appear in the spring. But the complex and expensive 1.5 TSI motor almost certainly won't get us.

These people have been at the origin of the brand since 1885, and it is to them that exclusive cars with the prefix "L&K" are dedicated.

The difference between ordinary cars and their expensive counterparts is significant. The L&K series includes improved ergonomics, the highest level of comfort, expensive materials, and all modern technological solutions.

If we talk about external "chips", then in front there is a modern bi-xenon optics, in which running lights on LEDs are originally built. Fog lights are made in the same style as the headlights. They are housed in a black casing and, thanks to the Corner function, help illuminate the road when cornering.


Concerning rear lightsthen they turned out to be incredibly beautiful. The designers made them in the shape of the letter "C" and equipped them with LEDs.

Side mirrors deserve a special mention. They can remember the current position, dim when light hits a reflective surface, but that's not all. The mirrors have built-in small lights that illuminate the area next to the vehicle and make getting on / off the vehicle easier.

Also, the developers offer a chrome package as an option. The overall picture is favorably emphasized by stylish 17-inch wheels, "shod" in tires 225/45.


The interior is replete with the L&K logo. It is found literally everywhere: on the front seats and rear armrests, on sills and doors, on the gearshift knob and in the splash screen of the multimedia system!

In addition, the interior conquers with its quality. Seats made of leather and Alcantara of a pleasant chocolate color, a center console made of high-quality plastic, lacquered door linings, a ceiling upholstered in light material - this is not all that Skoda L&K can boast of.

Along with several models passenger cars at that time, little by little, small trucks and buses were produced. Cars were exported to Germany, Great Britain, Russia, New Zealand and Japan. After the First World War, the company from Mladá Boleslav, in addition to cars, produced other products, such as agricultural machinery, in particular, the Excelsior motor plows, developed in conjunction with the Roudnice company. In the post-war years, the company's survival required an amalgamation with a strong industrial partner. Therefore, in 1925, Laurin & Klement merged with the Škoda company from Pilsen, an engineering concern founded in 1869 by Emil Škoda.

In the second half of the 30s, the Škoda 420 Popular was released, a model that soon became a legend. It was a compact car weighing only 650 kg, reaching a speed of 80 km / h at a consumption of 7.5 liters per hundred. Moreover, it was sold at a sensational price - about 18 thousand crowns, depending on the modification. After the occupation during World War II, the Škoda passenger car came under the control of the German industrial group Hermann-Goering-Werke and switched to the production of military products - off-road vehicles. tracked tractors etc. Of the most popular Škoda trucks of that time, it is worth noting the 256 model with a carrying capacity of 2.5 tons. In total, 2662 cars were produced by 1943.

After the end of the war, the company was nationalized and, having changed its name to Škoda AZNP (National Automobile Plant), received a monopoly on the production of passenger cars. The first post-war novelty was the two-door Škoda 1101/1102 Tudor, launched on the market in 1946. A little later, a four-door version with a carrying capacity of 300 kg appeared. In 1952, the four-door Škoda 1200 sedan was launched into production. This car with a rounded all-metal body, equipped with a 1.2-liter engine with a capacity of 36 hp, symbolized a new stage in the development of Škoda. In the fifties, the rather extensive global export of Škoda vehicles wilted. They began to be supplied mainly to the countries of the socialist camp. The Škoda 1200 station wagons, for example, worked in the USSR as ambulances. Soviet drivers were especially respected truck tractors and dump trucks Škoda. In 1991, a significant event took place in the biography of Škoda: the Czech company became part of the German concern Volkswagen. The first model released under the patronage of a powerful patron was the Škoda Felicia, presented to the public in 1994.
