Algorithm for complete oil change in mechanical box gear:

  • We warm up the oil in the checkpoint, having driven 5-10 km by car, so that it becomes liquid from a thick one, suitable for draining;
  • We install the car on a lift or a viewing hole. Setting up the draining machine transmission fluid should be carried out no later than 10-15 minutes after stopping the engine, otherwise the oil will thicken again;
  • Remove the engine crankcase protection (if any). Unscrew the plug control hole, through which the transmission fluid level can be measured. At the same time, we check whether it is necessary to change the gasket on this cover. If the mileage of the car is high or it was operated in difficult conditions, then this gasket (O-ring) is probably worn out and will require replacement;
  • We open the drain hole located in the gearbox housing and drain the oil into a previously prepared container (you can use an old engine oil canister by installing a funnel in its neck). When the transmission fluid is drained, screw the cover drain hole;
  • Using Janet's medical syringe, we collect new oil and pour it into the oil filler neck. Important: the filling level of the transmission fluid should not be higher than the lower edge of the inspection hole. If oil begins to drip from this hole, stop filling.

  • We tighten the oil filler cap. We install the crankcase protection in place. We start the engine and drive several kilometers in different speed modes, allowing new oil to fill the gearbox mechanisms. We check the level of the transmission fluid, add the required amount if necessary.

Algorithm for complete replacement of transmission fluid in automatic box gear:

  • Preparatory stage - warming up the fluid in the box when driving 5-10 km, installing the car on the inspection pit / lift, removing the crankcase protection;
  • We substitute a container under the lower part of the gearbox (the volume of the container is at least 5 liters), unscrew the plug on the automatic transmission pallet, drain the working transmission fluid;

  • Unscrew the automatic transmission filter mounts, remove the valve body, drain the remaining oil from these parts;
  • To make the fluid drain faster, we move the automatic transmission selector with the engine off to the positions from Parking to Drive and back. It is recommended to repeat these steps 2-3 times. Then we carry out the same operation with a running motor - this is sometimes done to completely remove the residual waste fluid from the box.

Important: engine running time when draining spent ATF - no more than 1 minute. The longer the engine runs, the more likely it is that the pump that drives fluid through the gearbox may break;

  • If the filter cells are moderately dirty, it can be washed with gasoline or white spirit, then dried and reinstalled. If the filter is very dirty, we recommend installing a new filter element. Then we mount the valve body with a new filter in place;
  • We install the automatic transmission pan in place, having previously replaced its gasket;
  • Through the oil filler hole located in engine compartment, having previously removed the measuring probe, using a Janet syringe or a watering can with a special nozzle, pour in 3-4 liters of transmission fluid;

  • We start the car engine and move the automatic transmission lever to the positions from Parking to Drive and back. This is necessary to run the new ATF through all gearbox assemblies;
  • We check the level of the transmission fluid with a dipstick (its volume for each individual gearbox can be found in the vehicle manual). This must be done with the engine running with the automatic transmission handle transferred to neutral. If necessary, add a liter of oil and warm up the car engine to working temperature... Measure the automatic transmission oil level again.

Important: there are two marks on the dipstick - Cold (oil level to “cold”) and Hot (liquid level to “hot”). The transmission is considered to be fully filled with transmission fluid when the level reaches the maximum Hot level.

  • Install the dipstick in place. The transmission fluid has been completely replaced.

3 How to check a liquid - is it necessary to update?

If for some reason you do not know how long the oil has been in use or have doubted its quality, the liquid can be checked by examining it visually. It is quite simple to do this - you just need to unscrew the plug so that the grease begins to drip or drain in a thin stream, and substitute a clean napkin. To prevent the liquid from mixing with dirt on the surface of the plug and crankcase, thoroughly wash the area around the drain hole first.

Then carefully inspect the lubricating wipe. First of all, pay attention to transparency. If the napkin is clearly visible under a drop of oil, i.e. is not painted over, which means that the lubricant can still serve, while its color does not matter. If the fluid is cloudy, it must be replaced. The worst case scenario is if you notice metal shavings. Its presence indicates that there is severe wear of parts in the gearbox, and soon it will fail. 4 Which composition to use - mineral or synthetic?

Transmission oils, like engine oils, differ primarily in the base. The cheapest are mineral compositions, which are extremely rare lately. They are usually poured into cheap rear wheel drive vehicles. The main disadvantage of these liquids is that they wear out rather quickly and do not have the property of self-cleaning. Therefore, if the mineral lubricant is not changed in time, deposits will form on the surface of the parts.

IN modern cars economy class with front-wheel drive are used semi-synthetic oils... Under normal conditions, they retain their properties for 50-60 thousand kilometers. Thanks to additives, these compounds protect gears from wear well. Another advantage of semi-synthetic lubricants is their relatively low cost. Therefore, they are very popular.

The most expensive and high quality is synthetic oil... It is the most stable in terms of viscosity, it tolerates extremely low and high temperatures. 5 Liquid replacement technology - what is its specificity?

Changing the oil in the manual transmission is quite simple - you need to unscrew the drain hole, wait for the liquid to drain completely, then screw it on and pour oil into the filler hole. Since the drain port is usually difficult to access, a large syringe or tubing with a watering can should be used to fill in new fluid. In this case, the tube is inserted into the hole on the side of the hood.

At each oil change, it is advisable to change the crankcase cover gasket, which will ensure good tightness of the unit, which means that the grease life will also increase. In addition, the lid itself must be cleaned from mechanical contamination.

At first glance, the procedure is quite simple, but it also has some of its own nuances. Please note that liquids must not be poured into the box, like the engine. different types and even different manufacturers... For these purposes, a special flushing fluid is used, on which the car must travel several tens of kilometers in the running-in mode, i.e. without much stress. Then flushing fluid is drained and replaced with grease, which you are going to constantly use in the transmission. I must say that after flushing, it is advisable to change the liquid as soon as possible, i.e. thousand in 25-30, since the liquid will still mix with the remnants of the flushing oil.

Summing up, we note that any mechanism that has rubbing parts, especially as complex as a gearbox, needs high-quality lubrication. When changing the transmission fluid in, the initial steps and tools are the same as when changing the oil in the gearbox. After installing the car on the pit:

  • disconnect the supply hose from the automatic transmission fluid cooling radiator fitting.
  • we lower the hose into a previously prepared container with a volume of at least 5 liters;
  • we start the engine with the selector lever "N" and drain the working fluid. When draining, the engine can run for no more than one minute. Otherwise, the transmission pump may be damaged;
  • We turn off the engine;
  • unscrew the drain plug and drain the remaining transmission fluid from the box;
  • we wrap the drain plug, fill with a syringe with fresh working fluid into the filling hole at the top of the box crankcase. Fill in 5.5 liters. Having previously removed the liquid level indicator;
  • then, with a syringe, through the supply hose, fill in 2 liters of liquid;
  • we start the engine, and drain 3.5 liters of fluid through the hose;
  • We "turn off" the engine and re-fill it through the hose 3.5 liters;
  • we continue the last two operations until a liquid in a volume of 8 liters flows out of the hose;
  • then pour the working fluid into the box in the amount specified by the manufacturer.

Important! Do not fill in transmission fluid "in reserve". The automatic transmission must be filled with exactly as much working fluid as indicated in the service manual. No more, no less.

Then check the transmission fluid level. There is a mark on the level gauge. Then take a short ride and check the fluid level again. Accordingly, the liquid must be level. Top up if necessary.
