Mitsubishi Outlander XL in a new way. Used Mitsubishi Outlander XL: Ease of Choice of Engine and Transmission Brakes, Suspension and Steering

Updated Mitsubishi outlander is ready to amaze us with a radical change of image, improved interior trim and a mysterious 2-liter engine. That's really restyling so restyling. Not some facelift, but a full-fledged plastic surgery to change the appearance, as in the witness protection program.

True, the evil Jet Fighter-style radiator grille looks somewhat unexpected on the overweight Outlander body, but many of our compatriots will like it. In the end, fellow citizens driven from the left lane see in the mirror exactly the undisguised threat of the frontal part. Interestingly, in Japan, Outlander has retained the same style: MMC marketers are confident that Jet Fighter is too aggressive for the domestic market. And for us - just right. And the restyled Outlander looks like new model, although the changes can literally be counted on one hand.

WHERE DOES THE FLASH DRIVE HIDE?

What has changed, apart from the conspicuous appearance? First of all, the interior trim. The visor above the instrument panel, the dashboard and the upper part of the door trim are covered in leather, stylishly stitched with white thread. Wait a minute, is it skin? Let's check it carefully. So it is, the skin ... of a young leatherette. But it looks good.

Traction control is there, but it is tuned to asphalt

Another innovation - emergency mode instrument lighting. So far, everything is in order, they are flooded with white-moonlight, and if any of the sensors requires immediate attention, the panel blushes shyly. However, I myself did not see this, during the test everything was in full openwork. The short list of additions also includes a matchbox-sized color LCD, huddled between the speedometer and tachometer. The coolant temperature and fuel level are displayed on it in vertical bars - readable, but somewhat unusual. And the location of the USB-port of the radio tape recorder is also mysteriously chosen - it is hidden inside the armrest, so you can't plug in a flash drive with music on the go.

THE THING IN ITSELF

Much more than a set of interior micro-improvements, I was interested in the new two-liter engine. Also, in general, a thing in itself. The description of the difference with a more solid unit is reduced to the use of the words "a little" and "a little". Compared to the familiar 2.4-liter, it's 23 hp. and 33 Nm is weaker, and in acceleration to 100 km / h it loses one and a half seconds. The 2-liter Outlander costs 30,000 rubles less than the 2.4-liter in similar configuration... How significant is this with a price tag of 1,189,000? Not really, I'm afraid. Saving on transport tax? A couple thousand. The only weighty argument is that the two-liter engine is twenty percent more economical. True, only with a quiet ride.

CVT in manual mode, gas to the floor - this is the only way to get a drive from a 2-liter engine

MAIN THING - TRAINING

In order for the 2-liter engine to spin properly, the transmission must be trained by pressing the pedal several times to the floor. But after standing in traffic, the adaptive variator relaxes again, and you need to start over. However, it does not matter - all four-wheel drive versions have paddle shifters. With their help, you can control the transmission in manual mode. And this is just the one rare case, when the independent choice of gears in the presence of "automatic" is not just a tribute to fashion. Only he allows you to achieve real drive from the motor.

I bought it in April 2010. in ****** (Khimki). Considered quite a lot and meticulously. Due to the modest financial capabilities, the choice fell on Mitsubishi Out, 2.0 CVT, 2WD, because little money remained from the sale of the previous one, but I wanted something higher, more economical and cheaper. I don’t go fishing and hunting, I don’t live in the village, I try to be more careful in winter ... In short, the car cost 1,039 thousand, while for all-wheel drive + ESP + leather interior, you need to pay another + 180 thousand until it's ready was. I understood that I was buying. The first grade on the "automatic" (variator). In principle, there is everything for movement: a steering wheel, seats, a spacious interior, a variator, enough space in the rear seats, a huge (by appropriate standards) trunk, climate control, heated front seats, MP-3 music, armrest, on-board computer, refrigerated "glove compartment", 8 pillows.

MOTOR: 2-liter "four", 147 hp, small transport tax... I'll start in order. It warms up, in principle, quickly. The first (blue) division on the temperature scale ( LCD display) "pops up" after 4-5 minutes of warming up. Full warm-up - 10 minutes. The revolutions "follow" the pedal, there are no failures. Accelerates speed in accordance with this motor: slowly, gradually, without straining. Driving around the city within 1300-2100 rpm. The consumption in the summer in the city is 10.8-12 l / 100 km, in winter it is now more - 13-14. On the highway cruising speed (I call the speed on the highway without tension) for this car 120-140 km / h, and so the consumption is about 10 liters. This is real without embellishment. As it is. For 24,000 km, there are no problems yet. Was at TO for 15,000 km. I went to Minsk, it's cheaper there. We took 5500 rubles, changed the oil, oil filter, air filter and cabin filter. 7800 were exhibited in Moscow, 6500 in Bryansk (without replacing the cabin filter). The motor is quiet, it is not audible in the cabin, it runs smoothly. Before that there were Mitsu, the impressions are similar.

CONTROLLABILITY:Clarity of management for the "four". Again, everything is learned by comparison. It seemed sharper on the "Germans". At the same time, I was not worried. In principle, there is enough experience, but I understand that it is more stable on sedans. Well, "either a pipe or a jug", in the sense - you have to sacrifice something: either high ground clearance, or cornering stability.

PASSAGE:It is natural to understand that front-wheel drive and the 2-liter engine is the prerogative of mainly passenger transport. In my (personal) opinion, the Out in this configuration is simply a UNIVERSAL OF HIGH PERFORMANCE. As there are luxury apartments, meaning a slightly larger area of the kitchen and hallway. Therefore, I think it's not worth expecting something super-passable from HIM. I do not want to belittle him in any way, but even with winter tires Nokian HKP SUV is now skidding out of the blue, the left front in the ice hole - everything is sticking out. I made a simple conclusion for myself - for the winter I will take specially Pajero Sport 2.5 D on the "mechanics" 2005-07. and there will be no problems. Three years ago was Pajero Sport 3.0 automatic transmission (good impressions). Clearance - 215 mm. I feel it. On all tracks I absolutely do not cling to the bottom, because before me "leveled" with a lower clearance, "climb" on the curb - not a problem. This is captivating.

BOX:Variator (CVT). The same thing - an automatic machine, I did not feel any special differences. The strange thing is that on a slight incline when "DRIVE" is turned on, the car rolls back after releasing the brake pedal. Either a defect in the box, or it should be so. It will be necessary to clarify at the next MOT. The first time I see this ... When moving to the box, there are no complaints.

COMFORT:Summer tires were 16 inches 215/70 R16 YOKOGAMA. Something they are not very much to me. Although "Made in japan". Noisyeeeee. In short, there are problems with Shumkov, I compare it with previous cars. Something could have been done during production. The costs are small compared to the cost, but the result would be great. In motion, the motor is not audible, and the hum from the wheels is noticeable. The climate works quietly, correctly, I use "auto" - it keeps the temperature, warms up, as noted above, quickly. In the summer I was in the Voronezh region (+ 42C), there were no problems with cooling, quite normal. Music is ok, 6 speakers, the quality is satisfactory. Cooled upper glove compartment, it was convenient to carry water in summer, ALWAYS cool. An audible signaling of the unfastened state of the seat belts when driving forces you to fasten. Additional 2 12 V sockets in the armrest and in the trunk.

SALON: In my personal opinion and practice, as well as research, of the "classmates" is the largest salon. There is enough legroom on the back sofa, with my height 180 cm. I can freely fit "by myself". The seats are comfortable, with good lateral support, with heated seats (they warm up quickly, have two "high & low" positions), are located on the side of the seats (especially inconvenient, but, in principle, nothing), the rear seats fold in a 60/40 ratio. I have a non-automatic version, but I don't suffer, I fold it manually. With the seats folded down, the trunk is large, with the lower part of the 5th door reclining (like in the BMW X5). Convenient when loading. The salon is made of fabric, the armrests of an incomprehensible material do not like - they get dirty quickly, they do not wipe well (I am thinking of sheathing with leather - it is practical), the fabric "collects" all the debris (leather wins in this regard), although in summer the fabric is preferable for thermal conductivity, the bottom consists of some then a budget loose carpet-synthetic winterizer, under which the foam is visible. But on the other hand, if you want something different, both the prices and the country of the manufacturer are different ... Anyway, I made a conclusion, and maybe someone would agree, the Japanese make other configurations for themselves.

CONCLUSION. My personal opinion about Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 2WD CVT:

The car is not bad, captivates with a roomy spacious interior, high ground clearance, acceptable (in comparison with others) price, economical "quiet" motor. I will not talk about appearance, I did not evaluate and did not take into account when choosing, I was more interested in internal qualities. Of the shortcomings, I emphasize the rather weak motor for this model and the lack of all-wheel drive. Will you take, consider all the same all-wheel drive, if you count on the only car in the family. Otherwise, look for something with a lower gear for the winter, and leave this for the spring-summer-autumn period. If you have any questions, I will be glad to help ...

- the most popular model of the Japanese manufacturer. Despite the great competition in this segment, Outlander remains one of the most demanded class "D" crossovers on secondary market... You can scold indefinitely japanese cars because they do not have the best finishing materials, poor sound insulation and not enough comfortable suspension, but one cannot deny the fact that they serve for a long time and do not cause unnecessary trouble.

A bit of history:

Mitsubishi Outlander XL - front-wheel drive, with automatically shifting rear wheel drive, five-seater crossover class " D". The world premiere of the second generation Outlander took place in April 2006 at the New York Auto Show. In Japan, this car, produced since 2006, with us - official sales started in 2008, but copies imported from abroad may be 2007. The car is built on the same platform as " CitroenCCrosser"And" Peugeot 4007 ". The outlander of the second generation has become slightly larger than its predecessor. Thanks to this, it was possible to place the third row of seats, which retracts into a special niche in the floor, freeing up space for luggage. Outlander has nothing to do with other models "", since the Japanese developed it on their own, without the help of a European Olive Boulewho took part in the creation of " Mitsubishi Lancer», « Grandis», « Colt"And" First generation outlander". In 2010, the model was restyled, as a result of which the front of the car received new design with the name " Jetfighter", Then a two-liter engine appeared. The next generation of Outlander came out in 2012.

Advantages and disadvantages of Mitsubishi Outlander with mileage.

The quality of the paintwork is sufficient high Quality, and even after 4 - 5 years of operation you are unlikely to find deep scratches and a large number of chips. The car body is galvanized and resists the onslaught of redhead disease well, foci of corrosion appear only on wrecked cars... The first sign that the car was involved in an accident and was painted will be a large and uneven gap between the body and the bumper (after removing the bumper, installing it back, keeping all the gaps, is unrealistic). Windshield is afraid of sudden changes in temperature, and if in severe frost a stream of warm air is directed at it, it will most likely burst.

Mitsubishi Outlander XL was equipped with three gasoline atmospheric engines - 2.0, 2.4 (170 hp), 3.0 (220 hp). The inline four-cylinder engine, volume 2.0 and 2.4, has a chain drive of the gas distribution mechanism (the chain must be changed after 250,000 km). But the V-shaped six-cylinder "treshka" is equipped with a timing belt drive, with a belt replacement interval of 70,000 km. In general, if we talk about these power unitx, then all motors up to 300,000 km are practically problem-free. At about 130,000 km, the crankshaft oil seals may begin to leak, and if they are not replaced in time, then the crankshaft pulley will have to be changed in the future. The first 3L Outlander released before mid-2008 had a slight firmware glitch electronic unit engine control (the engine reacts to pressing the gas pedal with a delay of 3 - 6 seconds.

Engines with a volume of 2.0 and 2.4 are completed with a five-speed mechanics and a continuously variable variator; with a three-liter engine, only a six-speed automatic transmission is installed. Automatic transmission is reliable enough, and rarely causes problems to owners. Also, the manual transmission has proven itself well, and if it is properly operated, then it will only be necessary to change the oil, every 60,000 km, and the clutch - every 120,000 km. But the variator turned out to be the most problematic - many owners complain about extraneous noise from the box when coasting. The variator is not famous for its long service life - the first expensive repair, or even replacement, may be needed after 150 - 170 thousand km of run.

Salon

The salons of the manufacturers of the Japanese brand of the time were never distinguished by flashy chic. If you look at the design of the second generation Mitsubishi Outlander, then it can hardly be called exquisite, the emphasis here is clearly on functionality. After a couple of years of operation, crickets begin to appear in the cabin, and absolutely all plastic elements creak. With a run of more than 100 - 120 thousand km, due to wear of the rubbing parts, the stove motor starts to whistle (replacement will cost $ 100). On machines with electric drive front seat, a backlash appears in the seat cushion mechanism. If water appears in the passenger compartment, check whether the plug has come off from oxygen sensor, which is located under the central tunnel. For cars manufactured before 2008, the audio control buttons located on the steering wheel often fail.

Running Mitsubishi Outlander XL with mileage.

Mitsubishi Outlander has independent suspension, in front - MacPherson, in the back - multi-link. This solution is designed to provide better handling and high stability of the car's behavior at high speeds. The design of the chassis and the permanent all-wheel drive system were borrowed from Evolyushin. The suspension has an average, compared to competitors, service life:

 • Bushings front stabilizer 40,000 km, rear - 60,000 km.
 • Front shock absorbers - up to 70,000 km.
 • Rear shocks rarely take more than 60,000 km.
 • CV joints - up to 80,000 km.
 • Hub bearings - 80,000 km
 • Support bearings - 100,000 km
 • The ball joint, depending on the operating conditions, will last 80 - 100 thousand km (changes in assembly with the lever).
 • Tie rod ends start knocking closer to 50,000 km, rods - to 100,000 km.
 • After 100,000 km, the shock absorber springs begin to sag.
 • Every 90 - 100 thousand km of run it is required to replace the outboard bearing of the propeller shaft.

As for comfort, in this component the Mitsubishi Outlander XL loses to many classmates, it digests irregularities, but, when moving speed bumps, the rear of the car throws up quite a lot. With handling, things are better, but high speed lacks feedback on the steering wheel.

Outcome:

If you want to buy a used Mitsubishi Outlander, then all you need to do is find well maintained car... The only thing that can spoil the impression of the car is the variator. According to statistics, eight out of ten Outlander owners are satisfied with their car. Owners fix many constructive mistakes on their own, so there is a chance in the secondary market to find a car in which everything will be brought to mind. But most importantly, before buying, do not forget to make a diagnosis!

Advantages:

 • Reliability.
 • Passability.
 • Roominess.

Disadvantages:

 • Rigid suspension.
 • The quality of the interior materials.
 • Noise isolation.
 • Variable speed drive.

Greetings!

We bought our Outlander XL in the fall of 2009 at a sale, when Mitsubishi cut prices for cars (by an average of 300 thousand) made in 2008 (crisis!), And clients unexpectedly paid off with his wife and a little less than a million rubles was formed. We wanted a new family car in exchange for the already old Carina E, always with four-wheel drive - I'm tired of leaving the car on the highway and walking a few kilometers when traveling to friends in the village.

Initially, I liked the Outlander very much - a large, convenient, variator is a thing, super-advanced electronics, built-in Bluetooth, a sophisticated voice control system, climate control, excellent headlights. The wheels were immediately changed - instead of the ponty 17-inch low-profile ones, on which it was shaking on the bumpy road, they picked up 16-inch VSMPO with 70-meter tires. I must say right away that the solution was excellent, I recommend it to everyone. In such a combination, the Outlander becomes super soft, any potholes don't give a damn about it, on our road to the dacha, which looks like after the passage of a column of tanks into the Great Patriotic War (probably it was, and since that time it looks like it has not been repaired J), Outlander on such wheels flies like on a highway, immediately bypassing cars on low-profile tires weaving at the speed of a pedestrian. Down with low-profile tires!

For the first time, we tried off-road capabilities on a dirt road not far from the dacha, which made it possible to shorten the path by 20 kilometers to the neighboring town. It was so cool - you move off and go, and the bumper sloping downwards neatly crushes the tall grass under itself, the high ground clearance allowed it to be comfortable enough to overcome various road irregularities.

The very first disappointment befell the same autumn 2009 in the village of a friend. Giving gently back when leaving the yard, moved out rear wheel into a small hole and ... stuck !!! To the laughter of the whole village, which crawled out to look at the "cool new jeep Muscovite ", who happily twisted two wheels in a harmless hole, which the locals pass by in Zhiguli and Volga without noticing! Damn ... It turned out that the Outlander does not hold a diagonal hanging at all, which occurs very easily and quickly due to the short-travel suspension. Kick-ass!

Okay, they pushed me out of there, but that winter I sat down three more times, and in completely harmless situations! Once in my yard - my wife put the car on a high curb with two wheels, it snowed at night, and when I started to move gently…. - yes, yes, again hung on two wheels, neither here nor there! It's good that the guys on Q 5 passed by, pushed me. Then another winter feature became clear - the very shape of the front end, which in summer conveniently crushed the grass under itself, in winter it successfully crushes the snow ... as a result, the Outlander happily jumps on it and sits on its belly, again cheerfully spinning it with two wheels! And here you have to dig a lot - it is not enough to dig out two wheels, you have to dig (and good!) All four! Damn ... I remember Farada ("who builds like that ..."). Well, damn it, why couldn’t it be foreseen that if two wheels were spinning, the ESP would slow down the spinning wheels? Why was it impossible to put the system on the RAV 4, Volkswagen Tiguan, Suzuki Grand Vitara and many others, when the car clings and continues to move even if only one wheel is on solid ground? (here last winter a friend was similarly stuck in a snowdrift on the Outlander, and around him a young girl drove in circles on the Grand Vitara in the same snowdrifts and was looking for how best to pick it up, at the same time not understanding how he could get stuck here =)).

This is especially disappointing considering that the Outlander XL is perfect in everything else. family car - Bigger than classmates, lots of handy little things, including a super-convenient two-section folding trunk that automatically folds back rear seats (one button), etc. When I bought this car, there was euphoria that its creators provided absolutely everything - and then such a bummer.

And this is especially unpleasant given that the high ground clearance and short overhangs give rise to the feeling that you are in a real jeep and you are knee-deep in the sea - and then it turns out that this is more of an image. The real child of the modern approach to automotive engineering is driven by marketers, not techies. As a result, the all-wheel drive "castrated" - the only thing that it can - help accelerate to slippery road... and is it worth overpaying a lot of money for a "crossover" for this? And the heaped up ESP in corners works worse than on a regular Ford Focus!

Other points:

· Fuel consumption is radically dependent on driving style. I get 12-13 per hundred, my wife 10-11. The record was set by my 78-year-old stepfather, who drove to meet us from the airport at 4 a.m. along the Kiev highway, the Moscow Ring Road and Kashirskoe highway at a speed of about 80 km / h - he got 8 liters per hundred! At first I thought that the computer had broken down =) - but then it returned to the usual 12-13 =) For "real horsemen" the consumption may be 15 or 18 ...

· Another drawback is that the volume of the tank is too small for this flow rate, only 60 liters. This car would need at least 80.

· Uncomfortable seats seem to be the scourge of all Japanese people who customize seats for Asians. Neither I (192 cm in height) nor my wife (175 cm) can get comfortable - on the same Ford Focus, everything is much more convenient

· Service is relatively expensive. The first maintenance was about 8 thousand, on the second, the front pads were changed (by the way, they serve very little, on average 15-20 thousand - this is what we have lived with 30 thousand thanks to careful driving mainly on the highways) and all maintenance fell under 18 thousand rubles - a little expensive. But during this time everything worked as it should. Only the rear mudguards came off and were fixed with bolts for an additional 1100 r.

In general, Outlander is a barrel of honey (in all respects - body, handling, convenience, etc.), spoiled by a fly in the ointment (worthless four-wheel drive). This will be the reason why our next car will probably not be an Outlander, but a more complete crossover or jeep.

Mitsubishi Outlander XL 2007-2012

Mitsubishi Outlander XL 2007-2012

The second generation Outlander did not put much effort in order to become one of the class leaders compact crossovers... All the work on promoting it to the market was done by its predecessor, who was in stable demand in Russia. With the change of generations, the car grew in size, the wheelbase was lengthened, which made it possible to accommodate up to seven people in the cabin. In the period from 2007 to 2008, cars of both generations were sold in Russia. In order not to create confusion, later mitsubishi models Outlander was assigned the XL index.

At first, the crossover was offered with a 2.4-liter petrol four and a 3-liter V6. All our cars were sold with four-wheel drive. After restyling in 2010, the line of engines was replenished with a 2 liter gasoline unit. This version came with front-wheel drive only. In the same year, the assembly was established near Kaluga. Moreover, along with the Outlander XL, its French clones - Citroen C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007 - rolled off the assembly line.

An important role in the popularity of the Outlander XL was played by a very decent equipment. Russian dealers sold the car in several trim levels: Inform, Invite, Intense, Instyle and Inspire. The basic version of Inform with a 2.4 liter engine and a manual transmission included ABS, front airbags, climate control, dynamic stabilization system, CD radio, heated front seats, fog lights and light alloy wheels. In the Invite version, a V-belt variator and six airbags instead of two were installed instead of the "mechanics". The Intense version with a V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission was complemented by an electric drive and heated mirrors, as well as a light sensor. A leather interior was offered for the Instyle version. And the top-of-the-line Inspire came with a sunroof, xenon headlights and an advanced Rockford audio system with CD changer.

From year to year, the trim levels and their content have changed. For example, after the 2010 restyling, the initial version of Inform turned out to be somewhat stripped down: two airbags, ABS, radio, climate control and power accessories. Intense additionally fitted side and window airbags, alloy wheels and a color display. Instyle included leather upholstery and stability control. And the ultimate version of Ultimate includes adaptive bi-xenon headlights, a rearview camera, navigation and a keyless entry system.

Engine

Over the course of production, Outlander XL has been equipped with gasoline engines a volume of 2.0 liters (147 hp) and 2.4 liters (170 hp), as well as a 3-liter V6 (220 and 230 hp). Turbodiesels with a volume of 2.0 and 2.2 liters produced 140 and 156 hp. respectively, and after restyling there were two versions of the 2.2-liter (156 and 177 hp). We sold only petrol modifications.

Engines 2.0 and 2.4 liters are the same in design. In the drive of the gas distribution mechanism, they use a so-called backlash-free chain. Its service life is calculated for the entire life of the motor, and so far there have been no cases of its replacement. The motors do not have hydraulic valve lifters - adjustment is made by selecting washers. This operation will be required only after 100 thousand km, but in fact - even later. Experts advise to periodically check the condition of the drive belt rollers auxiliary units (pump, power steering pump and generator). The fact is that by 60 thousand km the rollers made of plastic wear out - their working surface from cylindrical over time turns into conical or barrel-shaped. Eventually the belt slips and falls off. Fortunately, in most cases this happens without serious consequences for the engine. Replacement will cost 15,000 rubles, of which 12,000 rubles. parts cost. Let's make a reservation right away that the parts bought in the store will be 25-40% cheaper than those from dealers. And it is more expedient to carry out the work at specialized service stations.

On the 3.0-liter V6, the flap block inside the variable-length intake manifold initially rattled. On this occasion, the company held a revocable action. Therefore, ask the seller if the node changed to an updated one. This makes sense, since the collector assembly costs some incredible money - something about 250,000 rubles.

All units are designed for 95th gasoline. But they work great on 92nd too - it is recommended to be used by "officials" too. Motor electronics are super reliable. Cases of failure of oxygen sensors and mass air flow, idle move and others are sporadic.

Transmission

A mechanical transmission under the hood of a used Outlander XL is quite rare. But as a rule, there are no complaints about her. Unless, after 150 thousand km of run, you will have to change the lever arm bushings for 2200 rubles. But with cVT variator manufactured by Aisin, at first there were problems - he jerked and worked noisily due to wear of the pressure cones. The worst thing is that no one was doing the repair of the unit then. The box was simply changed entirely under warranty. And at first they sinned on a radiator located separately from the main one, which quickly becomes clogged with fluff and dirt. After making changes to the variator design by mid-2008, there were no more serious complaints about it.

The automatic 6-speed hydromechanical gearbox proved to be the best. And a long and happy life should be ensured by timely maintenance with an oil change after 60 thousand km.

The Outlander XL's all-wheel drive drivetrain is also reliable. Under normal driving conditions, torque is transmitted only to the front wheels, and the rear wheels are connected automatically when the front wheels slip by means of an electronically controlled multi-plate friction clutch - upon a computer signal, a powerful electromagnet compresses the clutch package operating in an oil bath. Moreover, the clutch can be forcibly locked (4WD Lock mode) when you have to overcome difficult road terrain. But don't confuse the Outlander XL with an SUV - the clutch in difficult conditions movement overheats very quickly. In transmission weak points almost not. Is that the outboard bearing, which wears out after 100 thousand km. True, it changes along with cardan shaft... At dealers the part costs about 80,000 rubles. A cardan with a bearing brought from the UAE will cost 32,000 rubles. Feel the difference.

Chassis and body

The suspension of the Mitsubishi Outlander XL is completely independent, with MacPherson struts in the front and rear multi-link structure. The main gripes with the front struts, which can flow even after 10-15 thousand km. This defect occurs in every fourth crossover. Shock absorbers cost 4200 rubles. a piece. Wheel bearings are also short-lived. The good news is that they change separately from the hubs and the dealer has 3,000 rubles each. (although you can buy it cheaper). They change them as they fail one by one, and not in pairs, as usual. But the struts (1100 rubles each) and bushings (540 rubles each) of the stabilizers are durable, which can easily take care of the “hundred”.

The Outlander XL is based on the tenth Lancer. Chassis the crossover was surprisingly sturdy. AND weak points it includes only the front shock absorber struts (4,200 rubles each), which sometimes flow for 10 thousand km, and wheel bearings (3,000 rubles each), which are permanently failing. Therefore, they are changed (work - 3000 rubles) not in pairs, as usual, but by the piece.

IN rear suspension, except for the hub bearings (3000 rubles each), nothing breaks before 100-130 thousand km. Servicemen even call shock absorbers eternal. But the springs (5,000 rubles each) are rather weak. Because of frequent driving at full load, they sag. Brake discs are not particularly durable (at 4800 rubles) - on 2- and 2.4-liter modifications they do not withstand more than 50-70 thousand km, and on 3-liter versions change two to three times more often.

The body of the Mitsubishi Outlander XL does not lend itself to corrosion. Paintwork, like all "Japanese", weak. The rear door windows warp over time, as indicated by their jammed rubber seal. In this case, you have to change the U-shaped sealing gum and file the fasteners of one of the guides. Replacement at a dealer - from 8500 rubles. Cracked for no apparent reason windshields... Mechanics say: due to insufficient body rigidity. On cars after the restyling of 2010, there were no such problems.

Close relatives

As part of the cooperation between Mitsubishi and PSA, two French twin brothers were created on the basis of Outlander XL - Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser. Since 2010, the assembly of all three crossovers has been established at the PSA-Mitsubishi plant near Kaluga. The "French" differed from their progenitor only by the external styling and emblems on the steering wheel, as well as the level of trim levels. However, in technical terms, the difference between them is much greater. If Mitsubishi Outlander XL is on russian market offered exclusively with gasoline engines volume of 2.0, 2.4 and 3 liters, then in the range of French clones there were only two power units: a gasoline volume of 2.4 liters and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel (156 hp). Moreover, the 2.4-liter was combined with a 5-speed "mechanics" and a variator, and a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed "robot" with a double clutch were provided for the diesel engine.

Restyling

After the 2010 modernization, the front end of the Outlander XL body was transformed. The design of the car began to overlap with the other models of the concern, having received a proprietary radiator grille in the form of a huge trapezoid. In the cabin, the finishing materials have improved, and the small box, previously located above the center console, was simply removed. The most expensive version of the Ultimate featured a touchscreen display combined with navigation system and a rear view camera. The technique has also changed. A 2-liter gasoline engine with 147 hp appeared in the range of engines, and the Japanese increased the V6 power from 220 to 230 hp. Moreover, the 2-liter version is only front-wheel drive. CVT Invecs III began to adapt to the driving mode and respond faster to the gas supply.

Verdict

Editor:

The Outlander XL, of course, has flaws and minor defects, but they dissolve against the background of the overall reliability of this crossover. In addition, even today it looks quite modern, and so much so that some potential customers prefer it to the new model. If funds allow, we advise you to stay on more recent copies - better post-styling ones, which got rid of many problems. In addition, Outlander XL has good maintainability, and parts for it can be bought very inexpensively. It is also important that the officials today offer significant discounts for servicing cars that have already passed the warranty age.
