There was no particular need for its redrawing, but according to the law of the genre, the X-Trail received a new front with a wide "V" in the entire radiator grille, completely redesigned fog light sections, different head optics and lights at the stern. It turned out brutally: X-Trail now no longer refers to the youngest "Qashqai", but to the older Pathfinder.

Inside, the most noticeable differences are the beveled steering wheel and two-tone trim. But I did not even see the banal system of keeping in the lane. There is an adaptive cruise, and it is very good - it clearly and accurately maintains the distance to the car in front and quickly responds to those who climb in front of you from the next row, slowing down and creating a safe gap. There is also a blind spot monitoring system. But you have to hold on to the wheel yourself. It's a pity, because the Middle East is exactly the place where autopilots are useful right now: from Abu Dhabi to Sharjah and back, you move along a highway as straight as an arrow with good markings, and you are not really needed here as a driver.

What's with the engines?

X-Trail is available in different regions with its own set power units... In Europe, these are mainly diesel engines ( 1,6 and 2.0 l) and a new 4-cylinder petrol turbo engine 1.6 l, which replaced the 2-liter aspirated. In the Emirates, only a 2.5-liter aspirated is available - 169 h.p.... in their specification (in our - 171 h.p.). I think that somewhere at the intersection of West and East our line of engines will also be. It is unlikely that we will get a turbo four - atmospheric 2.0 is less technologically advanced, therefore cheaper. Diesel engines are also not very popular with us, so it's good if they leave only the 1.6-liter one, it's naive to dream of a "kopeck piece". In general, my prediction is that X-Trail will come to us with the same set of engines: 2.0 for advertising " From ... rub", 2.5 liters at the top, diesel - for aesthetes.

If so, then I will have nothing to say. The 2.5-liter X-Trail with CVT hasn't changed its character one iota. The key is that it is very difficult to get used to it. The variator works in such a way that it makes no sense to press into the floor for intensive acceleration, the torque has to be caught with the right foot, constantly playing with the accelerator. The specificity of the transmission is such that there is no linear relationship between the punching shear depth and the applied acceleration. And nothing in this regard has changed over the past years.

What about the seats?

And here it is interesting. Last years I and many colleagues have asked Nissan specialists why the X-Trail doesn't have a seven-seat version? There was only one answer: “ We have a seven-seater Pathfinder". The catch is that Pathfinder has left Russia since last year. And then I won't be surprised if it partially replaces it top version X-Trail with seven seats. At least in nature there is one. Although there is little sense in this: with the middle sofa fully shifted, there is space in the third row only for the cat. If you move the middle sofa, then there will be a place in the gallery for a couple of simple and young guys. Although only a cat will be able to accommodate well there - I just didn't fit.

In short, if the seven-seater version reaches us, someone may need it. If not, that's okay. In a five-seater performance it's downright chic family car with a lot of space in all dimensions. Quite a replacement for extinct minivans.

And from this - family - point of view, he looked at me very much.
